  1. I thought Crouch had a decent game, given it was his debut and he wasn't fully fit.
  2. Sunderland might be better for Stead, as he does have family in Yorkshire and is said to be a quiet person so being near family might swing it for him.
  3. Too much Emerton love. Pretty good team near the end of the first season. Doing better than my frist attempt anyway.
  4. Well with Owen and Crocuh up front it gives us a chance to play with a different system in theory. But then, for me Defoe should of played against the USA.
  5. Best. Season. Ever ← Fucking excellent aye. One of the best bits for me was how English the first team was. Flowers (English), Kenna (Irish), Hendry (Scottish), Berg (Norweign), Le Saux (English), Ripley (English), Sherwood (English), Batty (English), Shearer (English) and Sutton (English). 8 out of 11 is pretty good as I prefer my players to be home based as it kinda means a bit more. Include the home nations and the only 'foreigner' is Berg. Mind you the league then hadn't had the influx of foreign players it has now. Yeah, I went on talking about nothing but it was a great day when we won it. At least I have seen them do it my lifetime.
  6. I was talking about Civ 2, but yeah you are right.
  7. Also in an interesting fact, the goal last night was the first one we have conceded in the league for 7 hours and 19 minutes. Totally unthinkable we could do anything like that back in October and November when our defense was a complete joke. Just shows what an impact Mark Hughes has made to our club so far with regards to smart ceahp buys and boosting the confidence of some of our players, Flitcroft and Todd especially.
  8. I will do my best to sum it up in a short paragraph. You start off in the year 4000 BC with nothing. From there, you build cities to expand your nation, advance techinologically, create war units, look after the people's needs, sort out tax's etc. Along the way, you explore the world, find and create relationships with other nations that change with time. There are two ways to outright win the game. Either be the first to launch a ship to the nearest star system to terraform a planet there, or win by using the sword, wipe out every other nation and you are the winner. It's a bit more deeper than that, but it gives you the idea.
  9. Decent draw tonight, considering WBA have everything to play for. Shame Stead didn't knock his effort in but these things happen. Your lover scored a decent goal RW. >_>
  10. No shocks about the winners, not that they should of been really especially for the main award.
  11. The loss of Dickov and Savage makes the job of 3 points alot harder, but I can see us gutting it out for a draw.
  12. Someone needs to set-up a Civ II net game. >_>
  13. Good solid win tonight, despite Savage going's on. Should of added to Pedersen's goal but story of our season, we don't score goals.
  14. Ah, reasonable price is something different. Never checked how much it was, but with all the pieces, size of it ect I can imagine it being high priced.
  15. Have to admit, that made up for the loss as evil as it was.
  16. Disappointing game, Arsenal deserved it really as we didn't create one good chance. Expected to lose really but still feels like a kick in the balls. Oh well, maybe next year.
  17. Nearly time for kick off, trying to organize my half dead mum into action and my still pissed dad is bellowing out orders etc before the pub. Yeah, well cool for going with my parents to watch the football but I will hopefully enoy myself and most of my Rovers friends are down south.
  18. Harsh by UEFA standards, but not enough IMO.
  19. Was gonna say, as an Arsenal fan saying every game you have been to and never seeing them lose isn't THAT surprising. I went to Highbury the season you first won the double under Wenger. Last team to win there that season, 3-1, Gallacher's goal got me on MOTD. Poor Lee Dixon got so much abuse for being an ex-Dingle and he had no clue why.
  20. In that case, please don't come home. Do you go to alot of the games?
  21. Normally I would, but I think Emerton would give Ashley Cole more problems with his pace than Thompson would. If Emerton learned how to clear the first man with a corss or corner he would be always picked. Savage, I am torn with. I agree that the midfield has been great, just this is the type of match that Savage suits down to the ground, fit or half-fit.
  22. If we do win, it will probably be like that. I reckon if Bolton had had 10 men in the last round they could of turned over Arsenal. If we employ a similar style and play it effectively then who knows? Btw RW, Savage, play him from the start or not in your opinion? If a mod thinks it's too much, fair enough close it. Just there seems to be a decent Rovers fanbase on here and if teams like Villa and Newcastle warrent their own threads why not us?
  23. So, why not us have one? There is at the least me, NBT (even if he is on leave right now), Rabid, someone's name I forget but he has a season ticket at Ewood and I am sure one or two more Rovers fans hiding around. Now summit to kick the thread off with. The news that both Sol and Henry are out is oretty good news. Henry can tear any defense open when he wnats to and Arsenal's backline isn't half as good without Campbell in there and to marshall it. It's gonna be a big ask regardless for us to overcome Arsenal, but with a good defensive performance and a bit more attacking power than we showed in the league against Arsenal not so long ago, we could nick it.
  24. Alot tougher to pick than the last lot, but Defore just pips it for me.
