  1. And Gricar was the DA who decided not to pursue charges against Sandusky. Why would anyone at Penn State want to kill him?
  2. Are you seriously insinuating that Penn State is behind Gricar's disappearance? That's idiotic.
  3. Maybe. Or maybe the evidence wasn't good enough. Maybe detectives hiding in a closet and hearing a confession from Sandusky wouldn't hold up in court. I did forget the point about the detectives, that would have a tough time holding up in court. I think there was strong enough evidence though, 2 testimonies from the victims. But there's a mysterious dropping of any pursuit and then even more mysteriously, Sandusky goes into an early retirement. My point isn't that there was a massive university-wide cover-up, but that the people in power back in 1998 made an effort to protect Sandusky and at the same time the potential case against him was dropped and not pursued. The commander of the PSU police told his detective to close the case after the DA decided not to pursue. I completely believe that Sandusky was offered an early retirement in exchange for a cover-up. But I don't think they had anything to do with the DA not filing charges.

  5. Agreed. To be fair Penn State students are raising money for victims of child abuse. I disagree 100% with that first sentence. They've fired the university president. They've fired the face of the football program. The VP of Business was forced back into retirement. Outside of Athletic Director Tim Curley, the Board of Trustees is in the process of purging the responsible parties and they've formed a committee to investigate the incident to see if anyone knowingly covered it up and if anyone else was involved. What more do you want them to do? Your child would be absolutely safe at Penn State. State College is literally one of the safest cities in America. What happened was horrible, disgusting, and everyone involved should not only find themselves rotting in prison but burning in hell. But you're acting like State College is fucking Venezuela and people are getting kidnapped every minute. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't blame the college as a whole for the actions of a few despicable people. Penn State is more than the sums of it's parts. It's more than a football team, a legendary coach, or a fucked up Athletic Department. There are so many good things about Penn State that will be overlooked by everyone from this point on, and rightfully so, but please don't let the actions of a few awful scumbags ruin the reputation and identity of an entire University. Maybe I'm overreacting and that's not what you're doing. If so, I apologize. It's been a rough week.
  6. President Graham Spanier lost his job because of this, as he should have. The moment I read that he pledged "unconditional support" to Curley and Schultz I wanted him fired. Paterno had to go now in order to squash the impression that at Penn State football means more than anything else. Curley and Schultz, to me, are the main culprits behind any cover-up. I think that's pretty evident. As for Mike McQueary, that piece of shit better not be coaching on Saturday or it will be an absolute travesty.
  7. If I were still a student there I'd be disgusted that part of my tuition was going to fund Athletic Director Tim Curley's defense.
  8. This has been a horrible week for me and other Penn State alums that I know. I've felt sick almost non-stop. I still can't quite come to grips with what happened. Or why it was allowed to happen. My fond memories of my time at University Park are now stained forever and that's hard to get over. And the fact that the Board of Trustees did the right thing by firing Spanier and Paterno while as of this moment not doing a damn thing about Michael McQueary is absolutely infuriating. And the sad thing is it's only going to get worse. Fuck.
  9. These fucking idiot students. Goddammit! And those reporters are the press conference were atrocious! I feel like throwing my Journalism diploma away now. Ugh.
  10. Board of Trustees press conference coming at 10PM. Rumor is they'll announce firing of Joe Paterno. DC Tom Bradley to coach remainder of season.
  11. Joe told the grand jury that McQueary didn't say exactly what he saw. I interned at that ESPN affiliate, 1450 in State College. Giger wasn't there then, but he's a great dude and is pretty much one of the most knowledgeable radio personalities in Central PA. If he says it, I believe it. They were but there were rumors, if I recall correctly, of them having a falling out around the time of Sandusky's surprising early retirement. I believe someone posted that Paterno didn't attend the retirement banquet. There's a pretty big cloud of suspicion here. Bottom line is Paterno wanted to keep this an internal matter to save the program's and his reputations. That's the only reason he or McQueary would not have followed through with filing a police report. Where there's smoke there's often fire, in the public realm there's the perception of there always being fire. Paterno, the AD, McQueary and anyone else who had an inkling of what Sandusky was up to didn't do enough to stop it for fear of bringing down the proud history of the Nittany Lions. Instead by not reporting it they are not only ruining the program's reputation, they are ruining the university's reputation and their own reputations and legacies. They swept it under the carpet and are paying the price. Paterno does deserve some condemnation for not going far enough, though he did try in what he at the time perceived the best way for all parties. Only in doing this it appears he ignored the well-being of children. After the late 90s accusation, Sandusky was told he was no longer the heir apparent to Paterno's head coaching position and then he retired.
  12. It's pretty obvious to me that the University knew more than what they let on. Taking away Sandusky's locker room keys is pretty telling. I don't think it would surprise many if it comes out that Paterno knew more and did nothing.
  13. The end of the season isn't soon enough. If he coaches Saturday against Nebraska, that's a joke.
  14. Agreed. But there really isn't anything to report on Sandusky right now, so the focus shifts to Paterno. For me, as a Penn State alum, I want Graham Spanier gone too. I want Mike McQueary gone. This doesn't end with Paterno. But yes, the focus SHOULD be on Sandusky but unfortunately that's now how the media works.
  15. His quote... ...made me want to vomit. "Victims or whatever" "Anyway, you've been great." "Everything's great." Fuck Joe Paterno.
  16. It may have been going on since the 1970s. No one knows for sure, we've just hit the tip of the iceberg. What gets me is that they took the keys to the locker room away from Sandusky. You don't do that unless you think there's fire amid the smoke. But they still allowed him to conduct overnight football camps at satellite campuses Behrend and Harrisburg. This. And now these fucking idiot Penn State students are out holding their annual "riot" in SUPPORT of Paterno. It's embarrassing and disgusting and it makes me want to not be associated with the University. To make matters worse I received my yearly letter regarding donating to the University today. Fuck that.
  17. As a Penn State alum, I want them all gone. President Graham "Unconditional Support" Spanier, AD Tim Curley, Joe Paterno, hell even Mike McQueary. The sooner the Board of Trustees gets rid of all these the sooner my alma mater can begin to heal. There will never be a way to make things better for the kids that pervert molested though. Tonight I am ashamed to be a graduate of Penn State.
  18. I see your point. I let emotion get the best of me I guess. Considering we know exactly how you'd react if the situation had been reversed (i.e. obnoxiously enough to make me pray even harder for a meteor to hit Pittsburgh), yes. Yeah you don't know exactly how I would react because I haven't reacted strongly to any Steelers win on here this season. But if you'd like to think that you know me, that's cool. Emphasis mine. We're not that far removed from you defending the rapist like your life depended on it. Do we really need to go over this again?
  19. Don't you think that maybe they should save the celebration for when they actually accomplish something though? I'm interested in how Ravens fans feel about this because I know if this was the Steelers who acted like that, I'd be a bit embarrassed and a bit worried that maybe the team has it's priorities wrong.
  20. Steelers defense cannot force turnovers. That's going to be their downfall this season. All the offensive talent in the world doesn't matter if you get can't stop anybody. The Ravens outschemed the Steelers on offense. They set up plays to have guys wide open and to get mismatches and they took advantage of that. I give them credit, they were the better team today. I'd love to see the Steelers play them in the playoffs though. And I think the Steelers would too. That was a pretty solemn locker room after the game, but that's to be expected. You can't let Joe fuckin' Flacco beat you like that. You just can't. Get off the field. All the Steelers had to do is make one play on defense and they win that game. The Ravens played a good game though, but they'll probably lose to Cleveland and some other shitty team later in the season and make the division race more interesting as the season nears it's climax. Pretty hilarious seeing the Ravens act like they won the Super Bowl after tonight's game. Gatorade bath? Carrying your coach on your shoulders? Pretty bush league if you ask me. The old saying is "act like you've been there before" I realize that the Ravens haven't, but c'mon now. Tonight was a big win for that team, but not THAT big. At least it shouldn't be. And therein lies the problem. As long as they see beating the Steelers as a huge accomplishment, they're going to continue to come up short when it really counts. Ask the Cincinnati Bengals about it, they'll tell you. If I was a Ravens fan I would be embarrassed to see my team celebrate a regular season game like that. But hey, they won the game so this is all just sour grapes right?
  21. I also wanted them to win because I hate Tony LaRussa. But having tomorrow off was the more immediate need.
  22. Tony LaRussa's a genius, he'll figure something out. Maybe he'll have Pujols wear the pitcher's jersey.
  23. If Texas hangs on to win, I get a day off tomorrow. I need this, Rangers.
  24. The cap came into the NFL in 1994. Edit: Link didn't answer his question.
