  1. Their offense doesn't score enough points to win the games they needed to if Batch plays.
  2. Their defense would not and could not have played at that level all season.
  3. Let's see... - AWFUL special teams. - Bad O-Line with the worst LT in the NFL. - Lack of depth in the defensive backfield. Ben's All-Pro lineman was terrible in pass protection. Faneca is a Hall of Fame run blocker. He did not put out the best effort against the pass, nor was he very good. :lmao: If you really believe that you're an idiot. They lost to the Ravens in Heinz Field because Charlie Batch was their QB. There is no fucking way they even go 8-8 with Charlie fuckin' Batch as their QB. Byron Leftwich might've gotten them 10-6 or better, but they don't make the playoffs without Ben.
  4. Baseball is a numbers based game so it's easy to rank players based on numbers. Individual success can be measured. In football, individual success can't be measured as easily. The problem with that is, by claiming Ben has had those benefits you are completely ignoring the fact that only times Brady and Manning won Super Bowls they had defenses who performed extremely well too. Manning's had the most consistent WRs by the way. I can't believe someone who knows as much about football as you do is actually using the Pro Bowl as an argument on talent. The Pro Bowl is a popularity contest, no more, no less.
  5. Where did I troll other than the Dawson crying photo? I have always acknowledged the Steelers' flaws. But no one ever seems to say anything about that. Also, where have I ever said anything about anything being acceptable on other boards? Here's the deal...if people stop replying to me, I'll stop replying back. You guys want me to not post at all, and then when I do you want me to let someone reply and then not saying anything back. Fuck that noise. This is a discussion board, I am going to discuss things. Just because people disagree with me doesn't make them right, and it doesn't make them wrong. It's all about opinion.
  6. Rodgers is playing great football right now. He reminds me a lot of Ben. We'll see what happens.
  7. :lmao: Manning would die behind the Steelers offensive line. He'd be sacked at least 8-9 times per game. No joke.
  8. So who are they really going to pick?
  9. As someone who works with those people on a regular basis I can tell you that just because you're paid to cover the league doesn't mean you know what you're talking about. I've heard shit in the press box from national writers that would make you shake your head. I'm not arguing your point, I'm just saying that relying on the opinions of someone just because they're paid to cover football doesn't really mean much. Also, if Ben wins the Super Bowl this year...I guarantee you some national writers will come around and start writing columns about it. A few already have.
  10. So why don't we give the Super Bowl to whoever has the best stats? There's also an argument that can be made that those guys put up better stats because they play in pass happy offenses. There's only one stat, to me, that really tells you how good a QB is...Yards Per Attempt. That will tell you how efficient a guy is. Who cares if he throws for 4000 yards and the next guy throws for 3000 if the first guy has 100+ more passing attempts? I'll never understand that argument. So then you would agree with the statement that Dan Fouts, Vinnie Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe and Fran Tarkenton are all better than Joe Montana?
  11. How do you judge QBs? Stats? Manning has had better WRs. Brady has had much better offensive lines (plus the whole cheating thing). I don't want to get into a big thing, because I do think Ben is a good quarterback, but Big Ben has had easily the best running game out of those three quarterbacks. That takes a hell of a load off of his shoulders. Very true, but the Steelers weren't winning games because of their running game. They would pass early, get a lead, and then use the running game to finish teams off. Even early in his career Ben was making plays with his arm to win games. But the only year Peyton Manning won the Super Bowl he actually had a running game come playoff time. And he had a stout defense. Those combined were able to pick him up and make up for his less than stellar playoff performance. My point is, no team in the NFL wins without both a good QB and a good defense. It doesn't happen. The 2000 Ravens are the lone exception. Marginalizing Ben because he has a great defense is stupid. Especially when you consider that the 3 Super Bowls Brady won were won in seasons where they had spectacular defenses too. And if you're going to play the "Ben has this and this and this" game then you have to acknowledge that both Brady and Manning have had better offensive lines in front of them. And for Ben to have a career YPA higher than both Manning and Brady says a lot because somehow he manages to be more efficient than those guys, with less of time in the pocket. I'm not even arguing that Ben should be the unanimous #1 QB in the NFL. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. My argument is just that Ben is a lot closer to their level than anyone on this board gives him credit for.
  12. Yeah, Ben's just along for ride. The way the defense drove down the field and scored the game winning TD in Super Bowl XLIII after the offense gave up that long pass to Larry Fitzgerald was a thing of beauty. The way the defense came out and scored quickly in every playoff game in the lead up to Super Bowl XL was something else. And the Tom Brady-lead Patriots won every Super Bowl by 3 TDs, and Peyton Manning wasn't carried by his defense and running game in the lead up to Super Bowl XLI. How do you judge QBs? Stats? Manning has had better WRs. Brady has had much better offensive lines (plus the whole cheating thing). Yeah Manning has had great stats over the years, he's done fuck all in the postseason. He's never carried his team to a Lombardi. The great Tom Brady put up sick numbers for one season. The rest of the time he was winning Super Bowls by 3 points. How come when Brady does it, it's all on him (when he had a great defense for those Super Bowls) but when Ben does it, it's because he was carried by his defense? Let's not forget, the Steelers had great defenses under Bill Cowher too. They didn't win anything until Ben came along. If he's carried as much as you guys say by his defense, why didn't the Steelers win anything under Bill Cowher until he came along?
  13. Yeah no shit. The Jets are a good team, they can very well win this game. I never said anything differently. I'd also love to see what they would have done with Ben's offense line. They'd get killed. You can claim that Ben isn't as good, that he benefits from a great defense, but the guy is a winner. When the game is on the line, he's the guy I want. Brady had open receivers all day. He shit the bed. He felt pressure when it wasn't there. He was rattled. He was looking for a place to go down at the first sign of a Jets player in the backfield. The Jets won't man up on everyone. They'll have to play zone. Hines and Heath make a living finding soft spots in the zone. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that they'll be open. If you want to argue semantics or word choice, be my guest. But that doesn't change reality.
  14. Really? Neither team relies on the short passing game? Please. The Steelers offense is built to go deep down the field. Both Brady and Manning make their living on short to intermediate routes and taking what the defense gives them. That's why Brady beats the Steelers so much. He tears apart the 5-10 yard cushion the Steelers DBs give the receivers. And I never said the Steelers can't lose this game. I'm nervous about it. Jets are a good team. Revis doesn't have the speed to run stride for stride with Wallace. That's why Cromartie was on Wallace a lot in the first game. Revis is better suited covering Hines Ward, and Ryan likes to put his DBs in winnable matchups. He will switch them around but he likes to put them mostly on guys who they can shut down. Revis is a great corner, but he's not fast enough to run stride for stride with Wallace. Revis also likes to jam receivers at the line, if Wallace beats the jam he's already gone.
  15. They sacked the QB five times. They confused Brady all night long. They held Patriots to 14 points until that last drive where it didn't hurt them one bit to have time get taken off the clock. I'm not saying that the last TD doesn't count....it does but the game was pretty much decided by that point. Even if Pats had recovered that 2nd onside kick the Pats really only had a chance to throw the ball once into the end zone on a hail mary. We're not talking about a team that hasn't won on the road or beat Pittsburgh. They just beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh just a month ago. They have 4 road wins in the playoffs in the last 2 years. How about some credit? I don't care the Patriots went for it on 4th down or if they tried a fake punt. That's part of the game. If they had converted those the conversation would have been about Ryan being outcoached and the Patriots doing whatever they needed to get the win. Fact of the matter is that they didn't convert. The Jets D did their job against Brady all night. Sanchez has been solid in his playoff career and the running game can explode at any given point. If you want to nitpick lets just go to the Ray Rice fumble. If that fumble doesn't happen the Steelers don't win. Time to give the Jets some credit. The Steelers forced that fumble. Time to give the Steelers some credit. Also, the Jets barely beat the Steelers who were without two of their best players on both sides of the ball. And since that game Emmanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown have established themselves as big time receiving threats. The key to this game is going to be how well Ben handles the Jets dropping 8 guys into coverage. The Jets want to keep the game close. They want to prevent the Steelers (who were the most explosive offense in the AFC coming into the playoffs) from hitting big plays. They're going to drop 8 guys and hope the Steelers do what Indy and New England did and take what the Jets give them. Ben and Bruce Arians won't do that. They're not going to sit back and take what the Jets are conceding to them, that's just not their style. If and when the Jets drop 8, Hines Ward and Heath Miller will be open underneath. Manny Sanders will be open on crossing routes. And after they gash the Jets a few times, they'll wait for the Jets to apply some pressure, or only drop 5 or 6, and if the Steelers get Wallace on Revis without a safety over the top...they'll take a shot downfield.
  16. Having some trouble there, Meacon? Has this been posted yet?
  17. I've been done with the discussion. Maxx continued it with the long post that I only quoted part of. I just replied to his overall point in the above post. From now on, I'm done with it if he is. What a rational response. See what I mean? You give me a hard time for only quoting part of your post, then when I address the rest you go and do that. Pretty pathetic. On both of our sides really. I apologize for wasting the board's time with this shit. Now let's get back to football.
  18. I was complaining about the people complaining about the argument continuing, who then continue to bring it up. But since it's a big deal, I will now address the rest of your post: I don't mean to come off as someone who thinks Ben did nothing wrong. Clearly something happened. But if we look at the evidence, that something wasn't rape. In all likelihood what happened was a case of a girl who at first was fine with going into the bathroom with a drunk guy, then changed her mind. There is no evidence that Ben forced himself on her. The only thing we know for sure is that she left the bathroom upset. And then her friends convinced her she was raped. The rest of their story, it would seem, was concocted the next day after they had sobered up. Fair enough. But just as it is your right to call the guy names, it is my right to point out that you are wrong when you do it. And just for the record, I would have dropped this already if you didn't keep bringing it up.
  19. So you didn't say that there were no charges because the accuser decided not to file any? Maybe you should work on getting your point across better because that's clearly what you said. It's a continued argument against your stupid fucking assertion that Ben is just being accused by "drunk girls" that want get rich. You know, if you read and comprehended the entire post, or hell even just the entire quote, you may just have been able to figure that out, but I'm beginning to doubt that, as it's becoming pretty obvious the only thing you see when I post is "BEN RAPIST BEN RAPIST BEN RAPIST" That wasn't my assertion at all. The first allegation was CLEARLY a get rich attempt. No doubt about it. The second allegation, I truly don't believe was a "get rich quick" scheme. But that doesn't mean that there is any evidence at all to support something illegal happening. I'm still waiting for something resembling legitimate evidence. I read your entire post, I didn't quote it because I wanted to address other posts too, and if I did I would just get skewered for continuing the argument anyway, so why waste my time?
  20. So you didn't say that there were no charges because the accuser decided not to file any? Maybe you should work on getting your point across better because that's clearly what you said.
  21. You realize his post-season winning percentage is higher than both of them right? Brady also hasn't won a damn thing since Spygate. 0-3 in his last three playoff games. Too bad the DA even said at his press conference that the accuser's decision had no bearing on the case. Under Georgia law she doesn't have to file charges. If there is enough evidence a grand jury can decide to press charges. It never even got to the grand jury stage because there was zero evidence. Timmons hasn't been all that great prior to this year. Last year it was obvious that he was on his way to big things, but this is the first year he's shown it. There's an old saying that you usually make the Pro Bowl one year after the first year you deserve it, and one year after you no longer deserve it, so hopefully Timmons goes next year. But Jerod Mayo making it over him is kind of a joke.
  22. There weren't even charges. I honestly would not care about the "rapelisberger lol" shit if he had been arrested and charged. He wouldn't be in Pittsburgh, and I wouldn't be able to support the guy. But there wasn't even enough evidence to charge him. Yeah, it's pretty common knowledge around here that a lot of that was bullshit. Those people complaining about how Ben was rude? They're the same type of ignorant drunken buffoons who give Pittsburgh a bad name. They think that because they're a fan of your team that they are entitled to bug you all the time for autographs. Not to mention the publicity hounds and the gossipers who decided to come out of the woodwork with stories once the spotlight was on it. Were some of the stories true? Yes, I know of a couple people who I know wouldn't lie about it that said Ben was a dickhead. But there were just as many made up stories, or stories about Ben being a nice guy in public that went ignored because they didn't have many juicy details.
  23. Perhaps you are right about me taking it too seriously. But that doesn't change that, you know, you're all wrong.
  24. I hardly think calling a team of proven cheaters what they are, or making fun of a fucking harmless fetish some guy has is in the same ballpark as labeling someone a rapist. You're right about putting himself in a stupid situation, though.
  25. Maybe it shouldn't be brought up anymore.
