  1. The Steelers do it again. This season is starting to look like 2008 all over again. Ben guts it out. Troy gets his first sack since 2006. Flacco shows why he couldn't beat out Tyler Palko at Pitt. Great game. As for the Miller hit, I can't believe people are calling that the dirtiest hit they've ever seen. McClain was going to hit Miller in the chest/stomach, then Miller started going to the ground. There was no way McClain could've stopped at that point. This isn't the Matrix. That said, with this season's rules that should have been flagged. But it wasn't the dirtiest hit ever as some are making it out to be.
  2. Steelers had the best line combo they've had all season in there to start with Ramon Foster at RG. When Pouncey went out, yeah Legursky held. Harrison call was bad. Woodley call was bad. Ike Taylor PI was bad. Clark hit the guy with his shoulder, or so it looked to those of us in the press box. I will say this...if Gradkowski starts or comes in sooner the Raiders at least score a TD. Unlike Campbell he could at least feel pressure and get out of the pocket. Campbell had no idea what was going on. --------- According to Deion Sanders the Titans are going to either place Vince Young on IR or release him outright tomorrow.
  3. Great episode though. Yeah that's what I was referring to. Absolutely amazing episode.
  4. If by self destruct you mean be the victim of at least 4 atrocious personal foul calls then yes you're right. But even with those penalties they beat Oakland's ass up and down the field. On both sides of the ball.
  5. 35-3 Seriously though, I REALLY hope that was a pre-game boast. And even then...lol. Ben, who can't beat the Raiders, passed the shit out of the ball today. He was on fire, probably his best game since Green Bay last years. Oakland couldn't do anything today. One more bullshit personal foul penalty and the Steelers would've had more penalty yards than the Raiders did TOTAL yards. It was embarrassing.
  6. I think it's rather obvious what happened to Merle. They foreshadowed it quite heavily.
  7. So I'm producing a new radio program beginning in November and I have been tasked with booking the guests. This is not a problem for me except in one area... We want to do a segment about television and we're looking to get the biggest, best, or most well known television writer out there. Not someone who writes scripts mind you, but someone who covers television for a newspaper or website. I know nothing about this topic so I turn to EWB. Who are the best or most well known reporters who cover television that you can think of? This needs to be limited to the US only so those of you outside the US may not be able to help me, unfortunately. Thanks in advance for your help folks. - Chase

  9. Ok, looking at their past drafts, perhaps I was wrong. But I really don't pay attention to what New England does so I guess I should have researched before saying something. Thank you for correcting me, King of NFL Draft Knowledge.
  10. I don't know, the Patriots haven't really drafted that well since Pioli left.
  11. What are they getting in return? 2011 Third Round Pick
  12. Randy Moss to Minnesota if they can work out a contract extension. That's surprising.
  13. I was at Steelers/Ravens today. Here's some of my thoughts... 1. The better team won. You can't make mistakes against the Ravens and still expect to win. 2. I'm still not impressed by anything I've seen from Joe Flacco. He doesn't suck, but he's not all that good either. As long as he doesn't continue his 1:6 TD:INT ratio in the playoffs he could get a ring with the Ravens some day. 3. Haloti Ngata is amazing. He might be the best DT in the NFL. He was absolutely unblockable today. I saw him being blocked perfectly by guys today and somehow he still ended up making the tackle. 4. Rachel Nichols is much better looking in person. 5. The Ravens' employees have zero idea of what professional decorum in a press box means. It's sad that a franchise ran by a guy like Ozzie Newsome can employ assholes like that. But oh well, not every team can have employees as nice and professional as the Packers. 6. Did I mention how great Haloti Ngata is?
  14. I don't doubt it. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because some guys are just better suited to coach in college. That and he's clearly a great recruiter. But now I've had it with Wannstache. That's the most mind blowing part to the whole thing. Tons of fantastic players have shuffled through the door under his stint there. Yet they have really, absolutely nothing to show for it. It is kind of mind boggling Yeah they constantly underachieve and the local media always sticks up for Wannstedt and gives excuse after excuse. I understand blaming the players for poor execution, but when you're blaming the players for poor execution time after time after time that tells me it's a coaching problem. Wannstedt has exactly ONE marquee win since taking over Pitt and that's beat #2 ranked WVU in 2007. Since then Pitt's done fuck-all with talented team after talented team.
  15. Goddamn does Tino Sunseri suck. Not that I expected Pitt to beat Miami but holy hell was he awful. Pitt has some extremely talented skill players (Baldwin, Shanahan, Lewis, Graham) and they're being absolutely wasted with this asshole under center. And I was foolishly optimistic about Dave Wannstedt when Pitt hired him. The guy has proven that he can recruit talented players. He cannot coach a game to save his life. His teams are thoroughly unprepared every week and they never seem to gameplan to take advantage of their opponents' weaknesses. Instead their opponents always seem to have Pitt figured out. Ugh. They might end up winning the Big East (I doubt it) but who gives a shit at this point? They'll just get slaughtered in a BCS Bowl by a superior team with a superior coaching staff playing superior football.
  16. Yeah, because I never posted in here talking about how bad the Steelers defense was without Troy last year. I never once predicted that they'd go 2-2 without Ben in these first four games. I don't always express my concerns here because why should I? If I want real football talk I'll go somewhere else. It's not like anyone here is going to do anything but hate on the Steelers anyway, so I'm fighting a losing battle from the start. I know that I know a lot about football. I know that I am fair when talking about the Steelers, I don't come here for validation. There wasn't even enough evidence to charge Ben with a crime by the way. But you already knew that.
  17. But at that time there hadn't been a QB like Randall Cunningham. Now everyone has seen it. Um, yeah...I believe I posted on here about how bad the Steelers defense was without Troy last season. But even still, I am very fair when I discuss the Steelers. I am not about to act like they don't have flaws, every team does. But excuse me if I decide positivity is the best way to combat anti-Steelers jealousy from the rest of you. I sometimes wonder if I was a fan of another team if I would get all the shit that I do. Probably? He WOULD have made the team better. There's no probably about it. Also, yes the opposing team's defensive strategies would have changed, there's no denying that. But if you think a Ben Roethlisberger-led offense doesn't put up more than 19 points in a game where the defense racks up 7 turnovers you're fooling yourself. The Titans offensive gameplan doesn't change if Ben is in there. That offensive gameplan failed because the Steelers defense shut them down. If the Steelers had Ben or hell even Byron Leftwich, it's not out of the realm of possibility that they put up 30+ points in that game. Also, if you think these teams are still gameplanning for Ben Roethlisberger and somehow being surprised that Dennis Dixon is out there then I can't help you. Of course they're gameplanning for Dennis Dixon. And in those games their defense didn't force 7 turnovers and give the Steelers the ball in great field position to begin multiple drives. They did that yesterday only to have those drives stall because the Steelers rightfully felt the best offensive gameplan was to run the ball straight into 8-9 man fronts and not allow Dixon to make a bad pass and give the Titans an easy score or good field position.
  18. I wasn't being condescending until Powerhart of all people decided to immediately challenge what I said as me being a "homer." I'm serious...who in their right mind thinks that a defense not playing against a QB gives the QB the advantage? Anyone who knows anything about football would tell you that the advantage was to the Steelers since Vince Young had never seen anything like what the Steelers were throwing at him defensively. But maybe I should be condescending when I post here. I don't think I'm wrong with anything I said. And if I know people are going to find fault with what I say just because of who I am, regardless of whether or not I'm right, then maybe I should be a dick. Whenever I say anything about the Steelers that is even remotely positive someone chimes in and calls me a homer, even though more often than not I'm right about what I'm saying. I can accept people disagreeing with me about Ben, I think I'll be proven right when his career is over and he's near the top of the all-time lists statistically and has 2+ championships on his resume. But maybe I won't be, and I can accept that. But what I said originally was pretty accurate. The Steelers are going to be really dangerous when they have a real offense. If you keep in mind the defensive performances of this week and last and add Ben to the mix, the games aren't nearly as close as they were. I don't think that's inaccurate. But somehow me pointing that out is just me being a homer.
  19. Fuck off. Everyone else is allowed to talk positively about their team, the moment I do it's because I'm a homer. I'm very critical of the Steelers, I understand their flaws and I know they're not perfect. But to say that they wouldn't be much much better without Ben in there is stupid. I never said any of those things, none of them. I never said anything about the Titans gameplan, everyone knows there gonna run first then pass, even someone as dumb as you knows that. If Ben would've played, both games would've been different because the Steelers would've ran less and passed alot more than they did with Dixon. I'm not saying they couldn't have won those games but they certainly wouldn't been blow outs like you claim. Well lets think about this... The Steelers scored few offensive points both weeks because of their conservative gameplan without Ben. So if Ben was in there, we can assume that they would throw more. We can also assume that they would score more than 19 points this week and 15 points last week. Your whole point is that "things would have been different" no shit. But using logic, one can assume that the Steelers would have scored more points while still holding their opponents to few points. Hence, a potential for a blowout.
  20. The defense would've been the same. The Titans gameplan doesn't change because Ben is in there. They want to run the ball. Chris Johnson is their best offensive player, they're gonna put the ball in his hands no matter who their opponent is. I fail to see how the Titans would've scored more points if Ben was the Steelers' QB. And if you think the Steelers only put up 19 points with Ben Roethlisberger then you're pretty dumb.
  21. The Steelers are going to be very dangerous when Ben comes back. If he had been playing the past two weeks they would've had two blow out victories. This year's defense is going to be even better than they were in 2008 when the Steelers won Super Bowl XLIII. What a game today. I had been telling people all week that Chris Johnson wasn't going to run on the Steelers. You'd think these so-called "analysts" would know by now that no one runs on the Steelers. And the guys trying to say the Titans had the advantage because the Steelers had never played against Vince Young had to be grasping for straws to find a reason to justify their opinion that the Titans would win right? Surely no one could be that dumb.
  22. He could be Flozell Adams! *rimshot* Flozell: 1 penalty, 5 yards today. Barron: Numerous penalties, multitudes of yards, one loss today. ----- As for everyone blaming the coaching staff, I'm sorry but I just don't see it. Players have to execute and in the end they didn't. Romo was awful on that final drive. He overthrew open receivers, he was nearly picked when he made an absolutely horrible decision to throw to a receiver who was being triple covered and the only passes he completed were to guys who were wide open. Add to that his poor decision to toss that ball to Tashard Choice when he had receivers going deep and he could've chucked it up for them, or he could have ran forward and slid at some point, I think he deserves a portion of the blame. Of course Alex Barron is the goat overall, but I just don't see where the Cowboys' coaches failed. Garrett's play calling was good enough to win. His players didn't execute, bottom line.
  23. You're right. It's the exact same rule that cost Troy Polamalu that interception in the 2005 Divisional Playoff game against the Colts. The rule is bad, but the call was correct.
