  1. Mark Madden seems to think that Comrie could be for Crosby what Petr Sykora was for Malkin.
  2. To be fair Leftwich was pretty damn good the last time he was on a real team (2008 Steelers).
  3. The Penguins just announced the signing of Mike Comrie.
  4. I want Charlie Batch in there and I wouldn't be surprised to see him. Leftwich got hurt because he's a fucking statue. Dixon's mobile but he can't throw. Batch is the best of both worlds. With Batch the running game can function normally because he's quick enough to get out from under center so they won't need to line him up in shotgun most of the time like they would with Leftwich. Batch is also a much smarter, safer, and better passer than Dennis Dixon. You don't need a guy to win you the first four games, you need someone to not lose them. And I trust Charlie Batch much much more with that task than Dennis Dixon.
  5. Pitt was outplayed because the offensive gameplan sucked. Utah was keying on stopping the run, but instead of throwing on early downs or trying to throw the ball to Lewis on screens or lining him up at WR to get him the ball in space they just handed it to him and let him run behind their offensive line that is missing their three best players. Stupid. Then when you play the run-run-pass game of course the defense is going to be able to stop it, they know you have to throw on third down. The first half was an absolutely IDIOTIC display of offensive football. Romeus isn't healthy. I realize Joe Beninati is barely good enough to be announcing for the Arena Football League but I think he'd be professional enough to mention it a couple times. Romeus had a bad ankle and it was obvious that he wasn't going all out on every play because of it. He'll be fine.
  6. Fuck. So much to say about that Pitt/Utah game. Utah's QB didn't impress me. He was rattled every time Pitt blitzed. Once again however Pitt gets outcoached and loses a game they should have won. 1:30+ at the end of the half and you run the clock down and go into the half down? Fuck that. Dave Wannstedt (Or Waltstedt as I like to call him) was lucky his talented team was able to rally back and save his ass a little. Atrocious offensive gameplan by Pitt, great offensive gameplan by Utah, horrible officiating on both sides (Utah was mugging Pitt D-Line, no calls. Then I saw Pitt mugging Utah's D-Line and realized they weren't calling anything.) great game, but for me it was the wrong outcome. I'm Pittsed off.
  7. Eh, they're probably better off not drafting Colt McCoy.
  8. Former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher's wife Kaye passed away today at the age of 54 after a private battle with skin cancer. Such a shame, 54 is way too young. I'll always have a soft spot for Coach Cowher in my heart. He is Pittsburgh through and through and even though he had his faults as a coach the guy is a genuinely great human being. I feel so sad for him and his three daughters.
  9. I love journalism but I wish I had chosen a degree I could actually use.

Oh, I know. I was at Conestoga last year in the entirely useless General Arts and Science program.

  11. 4. Date Movie I debated putting this movie on the list as I technically never saw the whole movie. I watched about five minutes of it and turned it off. I knew immediately it was a piece of shit for the life of me I cannot figure out how the genre of fucking stupid parodies has actually survived more than one or two movies. 3. The Village Everyone rips on The Happening but I sort of enjoyed that movie. Shyamalan's true bomb had to be The Village. I hated everything about it. I was secretly hoping that the rumored ending would in fact be reality. That might have actually made the it worth sitting through that entire awful movie. 2. Zombiez Hilariously bad dialogue, a random guy in a chicken suit, and gang members fighting zombies. What's not to like? Besides everything that is. 1. Edges of Darkness The worst piece of shit movie I have ever seen and probably ever will see. Three separate stories that are all shitty, terrible acting, terrible directing, everything about this film fucking sucks. Except one thing: the black guy. The way he yells "SHUT THE FUCKING DOOR, BITCH!" to his wife might have been the funniest thing I've ever seen.
  12. Evan Meek has pitched great this year. I don't need a guy like Olbermann telling me differently. 11 save opportunies, 5 of them blown. (Y) and uh, wow .... when you're brought in you're supposed to stop the damage - IE keep the other guy's runner from scoring. Not doing so means you blew it. Lastings Milledge misplayed a ball and turned it into a triple ? Ok, you still got hit though and who says the next guy wouldn't have gotten a hit as well ? So he's supposed to strike everyone out? Have you seen him pitch? With the exception of a few appearances he's been terrific. I don't know why he isn't qualifying for "holds" or why a stat whose definition varies widely and is highly problematic is even brought up to discredit or credit a guy, but perhaps it has something to do with Meek coming in to pitch when the team is already losing. As has happened on numerous occasions. 1. I didn't realize that Pat Lackey was a Pirates writer. I saw his article on Fanhouse and decided to quote it. 2. This is false. Just because a guy writes for the team (does Lackey even do that?) doesn't mean he's a homer or knows nothing. The most intelligent guy I know when it comes to baseball and the Pirates is my friend Rocco DeMaro who does the Pirates pre- and post-game shows. He is terrific and he tells it like it is. I'd take his word on Pirates-related matters over any national guy any day of the week.
  13. Keith Olbermann (a big baseball fan) is killing the Evan Meek pick, basically saying that Meek pitches in non-pressure situations and isn't even the Pirates go to set-up man. As evidence he uses that Meek only has 1 save and 5 holds, which is good for tied for 44th in the NL and his 5 blown saves are tied for 2nd in the NL. Meek's selection is obviously a case of the players just seeing a low ERA and voting for him. Yeah I heard that. I can't agree. Maybe I'm too close to the team due to my job but seeing or hearing every appearance Meek has had so far, it's clear to me that he deserves this. He has a 0.85 WHIP and, as for the blown saves well...I'm gonna let Pat Lackey take it from here: Evan Meek has pitched great this year. I don't need a guy like Olbermann telling me differently.
  14. So glad to see Evan Meek make the All-Star Game. He's been phenomenal this year, part of the reason the Pirates are 23-0 when leading after 8 innings. He's a great guy too. Extremely hardworking, extremely humble, just an all-around great dude. Kinda though Andrew McCutchen should go too but Meek definitely deserved it more.
  15. Well our defense was the weak point last year, it needed upgraded. Martin apparently signed 5 years/$5 million per.
  16. The Pens have apparently also signed Paul Martin.
  17. Michalek to the Pens. 5-years $4 mil per year. EDIT: LMAO...Colby Armstrong to the Leafs for $3 million a year.

  19. I don't necessarily agree that it's a cop out. I think they could do a movie no matter how this season ended, so long as Jack is still alive. And to me, killing Jack like that would've been a huge mistake. He's an iconic character, and is truly the one character Kiefer Sutherland will be remembered for. And after everything he's lived through all these seasons, they couldn't just have some random guy execute him. It would have needed to be something epic.
  20. To me the first two seasons were by far the best. But this past year was really good too. Can't wait for the movie.

  22. As long as Clutch exists, rock music will still be kicking.
  23. I always liked Dio-era Sabbath the best. I think Dio's vocals just shat all over Ozzy's. And Rainbow is one of my favorite bands ever. I was fortunate enough to get to see Heaven And Hell live a couple years ago and I'm so grateful for that, it was a tremendous show. R.I.P. Ronnie.
  24. It's a friggin' entertaining tv show. Do we really need it to be 100% accurate and scientific?
