  1. I'm a bit put off by it being a 1-player game, but I have Batman Begins for the PS2 and would be interested in this as well. Like others, despite my registered interest I won't be rushing out to buy it. I'll wait for some reviews. My purchase basically hinges on whether or not it is a good quality game. They have my interest but have to prove their game is worth my £40.

  2. Today I bought the Guitar Hero 3 bundle from Tesco for £44 after lots of nagging from friends.

Had a woman in the supermarket bitch about me very loudly to her husband because I didn't say thank you when she stopped her trolley to let me through. I kept my cool because I didn't want to curbstomp any parasitical chain-smoking jizz swallowers tonight when I could be playing Guitar Hero.

Waited ages for the cashier to get the real game out of the warehouse. I think their warehouse was somewhere near The Moon. That's how long it took. Meanwhile, I got chatting to another cashier who seemed quite smug that Tesco were selling it so cheap.

    Brought it home.

Started to unpack the contents of the box and put the guitar together.

Got nagged some more by friends ringing me to see if I had it yet.

Finished putting the guitar together and popped my Guitar Hero cherry.

    Boom! Pure awesomeness.

Played a few games online and then launched into career mode.

23 songs and 2 bosses later, at 2AM, it's time for a break.

I want to play it again already. :(

  3. I've preordered this on Play.com for £29.99

Will be nice to get something a bit different from SvR. I bought all the SmackDown games until 2007 (that's 8 of them). After that, I figured I had bought the same game enough times and avoided 2008. Whether TNA iMPACT! is any good or not, it'll make a refreshing change to buy a different wrestling game.

  4. Megadrive wins for me.

    Toejam & Earl

    Sonic

    Streets of Rage

    Golden Axe

    Lion King

    Bubsy

    Chuck Rock

    Cool Spot

    Psycho Pinball

    Turtles Hyperstone Heist

    Theme Park

    Slime World

    All rocked.

SNES admittedly had Super Bomberman, but that was eventually ported to the Megadrive as well.

  5. Turns out Avril Lavigne isn't cool anymore so either I have to go by myself or not at all.

That's quite a bitchy thing to do after I bought her the tickets.

She's laying in bed catching up on sleep instead.

There's no way I'm driving 4 hours to Cardiff and 4 hours back on my own. Then getting home at 3am and getting up for work at 8am.

This is an annoying waste of £70.

    *Moan*

  6. God-Awful, I'd love to, but I don't have tickets. If there are still some available nearer the time I'll almost definitely go. I don't normally book things so far in advance.

K, I'm living in Kent. So I was thinking that if they were gigging up north I'd have to drive up past you anyway. I really know nothing about Pip's shows - which are worth going to, etc, so I'll trust your judgement on it and go to whichever one you suggest, wherever that may be.

  7. I've just booked tickets to see Avril Lavigne on Saturday in Cardiff.

It's more for the other half, and I wasn't sure whether she would rather a surprise Avril gig or a surprise Girls Aloud gig. I went with Avril because I like her music better than I do Girls Aloud. I think I'd prefer Avril with laryngitis over Girls Aloud.

I think I seem to pick all the unpopular-with-EWB bands, like Nickelback and now Avril Lavigne.

If it's any consolation, I want to see Kate Nash. Her MySpace also pimps Scroobius Pip, which means I want to see them as well by proxy.

    Anyone else going?

This thread is about celebrating Avril Lavigne, and how her music doesn't rock my world but the idea of an Avril gig is far more appealing than it should be. Because it's Avril Lavigne.

  8. EDIT: About driving though, sometimes I'd like to have the camera a bit higher up behind the car to see what's ahead (like if you're driving a truck), as it seems too low occasionally. I know you can adjust it with the right stick but it always moves back to the default position.

Try the back button. It changes your view.

  9. F-A-Q.

It's an abbreviation of Frequently Asked Question. It is not an acronym.

An example of an acronym is FIFA or IKEA - these spoken words exist independently to their abbreviated counterparts (I.K.E.A.) to form a word that refers to 'Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd' but is not that word.

Another example is the commonly used word 'laser'. This is an acronym for 'Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation' - but laser is a word in its own right.

Frequently Asked Question is abbreviated to F-A-Q, but that word cannot be turned into an acronym.

Although people can turn it into an acronym if they try hard enough, it would only serve to remove clarity as many people you speak to would not understand what you are on about- which would lead you to a much lengthier explanation than if you were to have correctly said F-A-Q to begin with. A good example of this would be the Phonejacker sketch, 'Hmv'. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QdIbKzBB1X8

The same bugs me with MySQL / MySequel, SCSI / Scuzzy, etc.

Why do people have to try so hard to be smart or clever? Why can't they just stick to abbreviations as they were intended?

^ I really can't read the text on this one.

They are all very busy / scratchy / grungy. I prefer it when you do other styles. These images would give me a headache after a while.

For example, the picture of Orton kicking Triple H in the head is not needed, it just makes the image busier. The fact that there's another picture of Orton hiding the kick, just makes it confusing, in a "Why is there a random pair of legs in an Orton sig?" kind of way.

The other thing I would say is that I don't like the random contrast / brightness changes that you can see on Quinton's (?) body. Why are they there? If it's just random stocks over the top, I don't like it.

    Sorry.

There are things I do like about them as well, like how in the second image the background is clearly defined as the band looking at themselves, with the foreground picture being presented as the focus very well, both by the outline on the cut and also the subtle suggestion of where you should be looking because of the background girls looking at the foreground cut as well.

But yeah, none of them are awful or anything. It's the style of them as much as anything that I dislike looking at, and what's one mans junk is another mans treasure - so I'm probably not the best person to critique this type of image.

    :)

  11. I felt this way with the 170$ tag here in the US, but it really is worth the money. It's a completely new gaming experience. The only thing I'd have to say that might stop me is the shitty quality of the instruments, but they're really good about replacing those.

If you felt that way with a $170 price tag, how would you have felt with a $360 price tag? That is effectively what we are facing.

Plays price is definitely a step in the right direction.

  12. Ok, thanks for all the help people. Does anybody know of any tutorial sites that I could go to? Does anybody here make wwe sig tutorials? If they do, could you post them?

My honest advice to you is try to distance yourself from WWE sigs. You are placing too much emphasis on them, and how to create them. It's as if you can't see the forest because of all the trees blocking your view.

Don't look for a tutorial on how to make WWE sigs (there likely isn't one), teach yourself the fundamentals of digital images, how they work, and read up on theories that apply to all images, such as focal points, correct usage of colour, effective use of typography, and so on.

What I am saying is that if you learn the fundamental basics and underlying concepts of what a digital image is, and learn how to use the software you are using, those skills will carry over to any images you make in the future - which may well be WWE sigs.

But you seem to be trying to run before you can walk, and the best advice I could give you is to slow down and take things one step at a time.

  13. I can only echo everyone else; that price has completely removed any desire I had to buy this game. That's just poor marketing, because they have managed to take a large number of people that were previously chomping at the bit to buy their product, and horribly overpriced it to the point that their potential (and damn near certain to be) customers are no longer interested.
