That Montreal / New York match up is bullshit. What a fantastic reward for winning your division - you now get to face a team that finished only one point behind you and with a better goal differential!
The whole format is bullshit, two of Pittsburgh, Columbus or Washington will all be eliminated by the 2nd even though they were the top three in the East.

Other than a Leafs upset, I just hope you guys bang up the Caps pretty good to even up the Pens chances in the 2nd, if we end up getting there.

My Tampa Bay sneaks in and then eliminates Washington in round 1 scenario is still in play.
Also, Olympic hockey is the very best Olympic team sport precisely because we get the NHL players. World Cup of Hockey was fun, especially TNA and Europe, but nothing tops Olympic hockey. Unfortunately now we're probably looking at US college players, juniors, and diluted teams from Sweden, Finland, etc. going up against a much less diluted team from Russia.
I think Tampa is pretty much done after last night.
And of course, since this team can't catch a break, Kris Letang is out for the playoffs, pretty much putting an end to us repeating unless something happens to the Caps like injuries, suspensions, etc. Fuck, Pittsburgh cannot catch a fucking break sometimes.

Leafs are now one point behind Boston in the standings, hoping they can get the 3rd seed in the Atlantic while Boston and Washington destroy themselves in the first
-
This race for the final wild card is gonna be insane, Toronto, Tampa and Islanders are all within reach, not to mention, if Boston stumbles then Toronto or Tampa can move up.

Sidney Crosby is amazing. Pittsburgh are shaping up great early on.
Crosby is on quite a tear, I can't wait to see the game on Tuesday, Crosby v McDavid is going to be fun.

And a third string goaltender in our loss.
Is he Colorado's third stringer? I don't watch many of their games, but I do remember him playing the Penguins a few years back and almost shutting them out.
-
Frustrating game as a Pens fan, especially the fluke OT goal, but Colorado matched up quite well with Pittsburgh's speed. Still, 5 out of a possible 6 points without Sid is a good start.
-
Watching Penguins and Capitals, hell of a game so far, Malkin got a sick goal, and almost gets his neck broken by Williams. The league better take a look at that.

Any of my fellow Canadian EWBers use the Rogers GameCentre Live subscription program?
I just found out that I can do a monthly subscription for $30 a month, but I want to make sure it's worthwhile. For the record, my team is out of market for me, so I can't watch most of their games on television (if I had cable)... but I can watch all out of market games on the application. I just want to make sure that the live streaming is good, and that if I have to miss a game and watch it on demand, that I'm not going to have to go through a bunch of spoiler-filled garbage just to turn on the game I want to watch. I would like to be able to choose a game on-demand without the result being spoiled for me, but early on with GameCentre, I remember people complaining about how the main menu had all of the most recent or live scores displayed as large or larger than the menus to select what you want to watch.
I use nhltv, dunno if it's the same thing, but on it you can choose to hide scores.

Sucks about Crosby, but hopefully it's not too long term. They got the talent to succeed without him in the short term, but lets hope he's back healthy soon and it doesn't linger through out the season, cause like Forky said, they have a real shot at repeating.
I'm fully expecting Geno to carry this team on his back while Sid is out, anytime one or the other goes down, the other one usually steps up.

Holy crap this Russian power play is bad.

I think it was because they knew he needed surgery and they didn't think he'd be ready for it.
They selected the rosters before Kessel's injury even came out. It was just a dumb decision by the people running the team.

Phil Kessel took the cup to Toronto on one of his days with it.

I'd much rather have PK Subban. Michael Therrien is an awful coach who gets by because he has one of the best goaltenders in the world on his team.
I still can't believe their GM could be this stupid, if I was ownership I would have blocked that move. Well, at least Nashville has gotten better.
Now we just gotta see how long it takes them to trade Price.

If I wasn't so disillusioned by the last few years of the Bergevin/Therrien regime, I would be. I have no fucks left to give.
Looks like the reported issues between Therrien and Subban were true, no way do Montreal move Subban if there wasn't something behind the scenes.

I think Buffalo could take a step next season. The Leafs should be better - probably not playoffs or anything, but better. I have no idea what direction Detroit will be going next season.
I think Buffalo and Toronto will definitely take a step next season, not expecting playoffs or anything, but definite improvements. Detroit, no idea, but they were pretty bad this year and I don't expect much from them.
Tampa, on the other hand, should be heavy favorites in the Atlantic, I mean, they were one win away from the finals, and that was without Stamkos and Stralman for most of the playoffs. They pretty much got the whole team coming back, so I can see why he chose to stay.

I'm guessing Stamkos looked at the teams he could go to and realized Tampa is probably the one closest to winning a Stanley Cup.
Exactly what I was thinking, there's no way Toronto, Buffalo and Detroit are contending anytime soon.

Points do not always indicate who was the best player on a team. Kessell was a beast and racked up a lot of goals and assists but Kessell got those goals because of the depth on the Penguins and the lack of depth on other teams.
Agreed, Kessel was awesome, but in the last two rounds it was Crosby being dominant, Malkin was starting to get hot too, might not have been in the scoresheet, but Malkin was dominating in the last two games of the CF and then in the cup finals. Letang also had a strong case too for winning it.
My order would have been Sid followed by either Kessel or Letang.

Crosby winning the Conn Smythe over Kessel or Murray is hilarious.
I don't think Murray deserved it as much as Crosby. While Kessel had more points, I can see why Crosby got it, he was a beast during the ECF and the finals.

Sully's sticking around for awhile, he took a team that was unlikely to even make the playoffs all the way to the cup.
