Who is everyone's pick for Conn Smythe? I can't envision it going to anyone but Kessel.

I think Kessel, though, I can see Crosby winning it too. No one else jumps out for it. I'd really like it to be Phil so the people in Toronto can really freak out

I'm not really sure that San Jose showed up to play honestly. Outside of one period in Game 1, they've spent pretty much the entire time on their backfoot. I'm definitely okay with this. Not to mention Sid is in the head of Joe Thornton and that's a huge change from the people who usually manage to get into Sid's head.

I love how Sid basically ignored Thornton after the cross checks and skated away. If this was a few years back, he would have taken a penalty for retaliating.

The whole team as a bunch has been good at this, outside of Malkin and Letang at times, though, only Malkin took a retaliatory penalty in the finals so far. It's so much different from the Bylsma era where they constantly would take dumb penalties or lose composure like in the Boston and Philly series.

I do think SJ is gonna come out swinging in game 3, I'm expecting a split in SJ with the Pens winning the cup in game 5.

  3. Yeah, it was definitely close. Thought we were going to OT, glad they made it happen. But this is going to be real close, Sharks were dominant in the 2nd, but I thought overall Pittsburgh was better in the 1st and 3rd. Jones really kept SJ in this one. Like you, I expect SJ to come out firing next game, lets see if the Pens can weather it.

I was so pissed at that first goal, but I'm glad that it got taken back. I don't see where it was really offside, but I'll sure as hell take it. There were some tense moments in the third as well until the Pens scored that 4th goal for assurance.

I was definitely getting a bad vibe when Tampa scored the 2nd, glad Rust got the 4th and then they got the empty net.

Feeling more gutted about the Isles blowing so many leads to Tampa now.  They could have taken this Pittsburgh team.  :(

If the Pens played like this, yes. What pissed me off the most is Tampa is not doing anything impressive out there, it's all Pittsburgh playing like shit. Last night they just kept sitting back, wtf was Letang doing on the tying goal?

And while it's not on him, Fleury cannot play game 6. He looked shaky last night, not blaming the loss on him, but he looked like he was fighting the puck all night. I doubt Murray could have saved them with the way the defense was playing, but sadly it looks like Fleury is rusty.

  6. I think they should go with Fleury too. I jump back and forth on it, just cause one period isn't enough to judge after he's been out so long, but he seemed sharp yesterday, and he has been solid the last two playoffs. Murray deserves all the credit in the world for getting them here, and it's not his fault they lost, but I think maybe putting Fleury in will spark these guys.

  7. Tough loss for the Pens, but I was expecting a big push from Tampa. Just wished they had tied it, that was a great third period from them, but too little, too late.

Losing Daley is huge, though. I know they keep injuries vague, but I do not see him returning in this series, or if Pittsburgh wins, for the first few games of the finals.

Glad to see Fleury back in, but the workload wasn't much for him. I'm seriously wondering if Sully has him start game 5 or goes back to Murray.

Playoffs have always been a much tighter game with with the refs a little looser on the whistle, but somebody is going to get hurt if they don't try to put a stop to this.  There's been way too many suspensions, major penalties avoided in this playoffs.

I don't mind it being looser and the refs not calling some things, but the hit to Letang was something the player safety people should have at least done something about. Doesn't matter if Letang didn't get hurt, that was ridiculous, and they didn't even give Callahan a hearing. Unfortunately, unless someone gets seriously hurt, doesn't look like they'll do anything.

This is CLASSIC Penguins-fanning. Dating back to their ooooold glory days of 2006.

I might be venting a little, but I just hate how everyone complains about Pittsburgh being the leagues darlings etc when they get a ton of dirty stuff done to them and nothing comes out of it.

    Bishop is listed as day-to-day.

It seriously doesn't mean much, they say day to day but I doubt he's at 100%. Either way, hope no one whines about the Penguins if they retaliate on Tampa and nothing comes out of it. This is where I seriously miss Matt Cooke and James Neal.

Given what happened last series between Pens and Caps that does more or less appear to be the case. Had Maata come back in then Orpik probably only gets a game.

Dumo got hurt too from being boarded and nothing will come out of it. What a joke. And then people say the NHL favors Pittsburgh. I just hope the Penguins keep their composure and don't turn this into a free for all like the Philly series.

And if Bishop is out for awhile, take a run at their back up goalie :shifty:
