Murray did good tonight. MAF back would be ideal, but the Penguins are the team to beat in the Eastern Conference.

Definitely, they're heating up at the right time, and it seems like all four lines are rolling. I think they only need 3 points to clinch 2nd in the Metro, so hopefully they can win the next two games and then rest some of the big guns for the last two games before the playoffs.

I hate to give Kessel credit but he's been one of the best players on the team since coming over. I still wish we'd get rid of Lovejoy and get someone worth while though.

Kessel has been very streaky to me, sometimes he'll be really good and then sometimes he's kinda invisible. Lovejoy, before getting hurt, was pretty solid, he and Dumo work pretty well together and were for a long time the best d pairing on the team. A year ago I was really sour on trading Despres for Lovejoy, but Lovejoy has been very solid this year.

Crosby has been really great this second half of the season. I'm starting to get slightly optimistic about the playoffs.

Me too, sucks he was slumping so badly under Johnston. But hey, 5 straight wins, 4 without Geno. They've also seem to have figured out the Flyers and Rangers. I honestly think they can beat either the Islanders or Rangers in the playoffs if everyone is healthy going into it. Kessel also seems to have stepped up lately as well as Bonino.

  4. Malkin was hurt last year, he came back too soon when they were struggling and just never healed, he could barely skate in the playoffs last year. The year before he carried them while Crosby was slumping in the playoffs, so he only had one bad playoff imo. Shame the last two years either Crosby or Malkin went into the playoffs with injuries.

Great win for Pittsburgh today, MAF was unreal in the first.

There hasn't been as much action as I expected this year. I know we've still got a few days left but I just figured this week would see a bit of movement. Phaneuf and Ladd are the two biggest so far.

I guess nobody wants to give up too much for rentals anymore.

This whole Scott situation is just stupid. Let the man play in the game he was voted into. It should be that clear and simple.

Also, we got Hagelin. I like Hagelin. I'm not sure I like giving up Perron for him though,

I feel bad for Perron cause you could tell he was working hard and trying everything, but he just couldn't buy a goal, and at times looked invisible out there. Maybe he felt pressure in Pittsburgh or something, but it's not like he was going to stay after this year. Hopefully a change of scenery does both guys some good.

Hagelin on a line with Malkin and Kessel sounds good, especially with his speed. Guy was definitely a Pens killer in the last two playoffs.

I still think Pittsburgh needs another good defenseman or at least give Pouliott another shot. They need one more good quick puck mover at the blue line.

  7. Still haven't given up on the Pens. Currently two points out of the playoff, but they can turn this around especially if the Rangers and Islanders slip a bit. If by the middle of next month they're still struggling, then I'll panic.

Shocked at Montreal, though. WTF happened there?

Now Sid is injured. It just continues to get worse for my poor Pens. :( I blame Kessel :shifty:

Seems like a minor thing, he'll miss tomorrow's game, but won't be out for long. Hopefully Malkin goes into beast mode like he usually does when he has to carry the team without Sid.

Yup.  Rangers and Montreal were running away with the division, then the caps went on a good streak while Rangers and Montreal have had some trouble lately.  Islanders have been up and down, and now the bottom teams are starting to close the cap in the division.  This could be a real close division at the end of the season.

Yeah, that's why I'm hoping Pittsburgh goes on a good streak soon and start getting some points. Only 5 points out of a playoff spot right now and 8 and 9 points behind the Islanders and Rangers. Not too stressed right now, but it is kinda alarming to see Pittsburgh doing this bad right now considering this time of the year they're usually at the top of their division and the conference.

Yeah, Ruki they definitely have to make the playoffs, can't imagine the uproar and what happens if they don't. Hopefully they make it in and go in healthy.

Rangers may be higher in the standings, but their play has been really poor for most of the season. It's starting to catch up with them.  Lundqvist started off with a bang, but this month the Rangers have been so bad his stats have taken a big hit.

Crosby is on my Fantasy team and he's a can't drop player, and most people in the league will only trade for him with a low offer. Hoping he turns it around.

Yeah, I noticed the Rangers have been slumping badly too, and to an extent, the Islanders haven't been great either. Definitely going to be close in the Metro division, especially if the Caps start to struggle too.

Just hoping Pittsburgh turns it around gets going once Fleury and Letang come back. Hell, the Blue Jackets are about to catch up to them.

  11. Holy shit it's depressing to see Pittsburgh play, it's gone beyond coaching. This is just rock bottom for this team, 5 points out of a playoff spot and they can only muster one goal on the fucking Hurricanes. No idea on what happens if this team doesn't win on Monday and then finishes the month further down in the standings, but something has to be done, cause this team is just horrible right now.

  12. Mike Johnston is gone as the Pens head coach. While Bylsma had his issues in the playoffs, he could get at least get them into the playoffs comfortably and Crosby and Malkin have been underachieving under Johnston. Hope this works, they definitely played better defense under Johnston, but he was not the right fit.

That's the worst news that we could have heard for the Pen's when it comes to Dupuis. I knew it was pretty bad but didn't realize it was going to end up ending his career. :(

I thought he'd have to sit out every once in awhile, but never thought his career was going to end either. Sad to see considering everything he went through and how hard he worked to come back, but I'm glad he's putting his health first.
