Tripp Eisen charged with "Crimes Against Children"

An Orange County Sheriff's Department arrest log dated February 10 confirms that STATIC-X guitarist Tod Rex Salvador, who goes by the stage name Tripp Eisen, was arrested in California on charges of "crimes against children." The log lists Salvador's date of birth as June 29, 1965 and gives his height as 5' 10 and weight as 160 lbs.

As reported by the Asbury Park Press, police in California arrested Salvador on Feb. 10 after finding him sleeping in a parked car with a girl with whom he had just had sexual intercourse, said Jon Fleischman of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Salvador was charged with committing a lewd act with a child and was released after posting $100,000 bail, Fleischman said.

On Thursday (Feb. 24), Salvador was apprehended in Orange County, Calif. by two detectives from New Jersey in connection with an incident last month where he allegedly met a 14-year-old girl from Sayreville, New Jersey through the Internet, drove from Pennsylvania and sexually assaulted her in an Old Bridge shopping center. He was charged with kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, luring to entice a minor through the Internet and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Asbury Park Press. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 years in prison on the kidnapping charge alone.

According to authorities, Salvador told the 14-year-old Sayreville girl he was "T-Rex" and he liked to impersonate the guitarist for the heavy metal band they both liked, STATIC-X, reports the Asbury Park Press.

This is disheartening, to say the least. A band that I have personally done a lot to advocate and hold in decent regard, and this goes down.

If he's found guilty, Static-X needs to fire him immediately (although I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep if they just went ahead and threw him out now). Otherwise, the entire band and everything they ever tried to stand for can rot in hell.

Really not a bad idea. Tony and Wayne are the only original members left, although Koichi has technically rejoined. Campos has his band with Dino, so it may very well just be better for the whole damn thing to split off and be done with.

Would still suck though. Not on the level as April 9th, 1997, but it would still suck nevertheless.

STATIC-X have split with guitarist Tripp Eisen following reports that Eisen was arrested by authorities in two states on charges that include kidnapping, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from two separate incidents involving sexual relations with minors. The group's official statement reads, in part, "STATIC-X has parted ways with guitarist Tripp Eisen, effective immediately. Tripp is currently dealing with personal issues that prohibit him from being able to fulfill his commitment to the band. No replacement has yet been chosen. STATIC-X is in the studio putting the finishing touches on its fourth Warner Bros. album, scheduled to be released in May. The band will tour this summer in support of the record."

Eisen has been in police custody since his February 24 arrest, but was scheduled to appear in Central Justice Center Court in Santa Ana, California, on Monday afternoon (February 28), according to MTV.com. It's expected the guitarist will remain in police custody in California until he's cleared for extradition to New Jersey.
