It's good they chose Joey, not just because he was the youngest cast member of Friends, but also because he was the least important of them all.  The same reason why Frasier was popular.

I'd tend to agree with him on this. Frasier didn't even appear in all the episodes, much less be the focus of them. I think he was in the crucial cast of characters, but more to the outside. i'd disagree that Joey was the least important of the Friends though, they went to him for half of their humour.

I watched a programme on E4 today about all the members of Friends and it mentioned this Joey show and how David was supposed to be doing some sort of backstage role in the whole show, or something.

Also I know this will never be funnier than Friends, well IMO anyway, but Joey easily as good as any other character in Friends, so it should be great.

Thats what me and my friends thought. The best humour in Friends was Joey and Chandler playing off each other. If you have Joey, you gotta have Chandler. And if Chandlers there, Monica would be too. If you had Monica you'd need Rachel, and following Rachel is Ross. Only one that doesn't really fit in is Phoebe. But Joey isn't really that funny in my opinion, without Chandler.

I think 'Joey' will be a huge hit, all 5 other friends characters have already had a character development giving them a solid character to work with but Joey hasn't really been developed to his fullest, he is seen as the 'dumb lovable guy' which gives him a one dimensional character. I loved Friends and he was great in it but i hope in Joey they build up his character and don't him him as the same dumb lovable guy.

That's exactly what I wanted to know. I'm pretty sure that it will make it onto E4 and Channel 4 though specialy when its a spin off from Friends. If it doesn't, then that just purely sucks.

As for the Joey not being funny without Chandler, that is true in a way but also not. So he never had any funny scenes without Chandler? If your saying Joey cant be funny with Chandler, then its the same for Chandler. Joey had some great scenes that didn't involve Chandler, specialy his ones with Rachel in series 8, 9 and 10. The show wouldn't have been a huge hit if one of them were not as funny as the others, its pretty simple, Joey is just as funny as any off the other Friends characters.

BTW, anyone got a Friends series to reccomend to me? I've got some cash, well I will have in two weeks and I am wanting to get like a whole box set. It cant be 8, 9 or 10 though as I actually have most of them and am looking to get others. I was thinking Series 4 as I'm sure it has the London episode with Monica and Chandler finally coming together. It's hard deciding which series to get, so someone help me out as they all rule

the london episode is in series 4, altho i'd have to recommend series 6, for episodes such as The One With The Routine and the Bruce Willis episodes, which i found very funny. Bruce Willis crying like a baby in one episode
