OMG NIRVANA AT NUMBER ONE, BURN THE MAGAZINE TO THE GROUND~!

Hey, just getting there before everyone else does....

I agree wholeheartedly with a lot of the top 20-odd, as they are a lot of my personal faves. Good to see some ATD-I love, as well as Melon Collie love.

no one can be surprised by that, i was kinda shoked that QOTSA made it on 2, also that refused are in the top 10 (don´t getm em wrong, i see the shape of punk to come as an all time great, i just dident think that a public voting would get it this high)

Don't get me wrong, Matzat, I like Nevermind, and think it being at Number 1 is fair enough, but I know what the response from a lot of the posters here will be towards that.

But yeah, QOTSA so high is a little weird, although the album is class.

EDIT: And Tristy, Kerrang! have ATD-I in several all time lists, including 100 Best Gigs (when they did it last year) and the Most Influential Albums (which was won, deservedly IMO, by Faith No More's "Angel Dust"

QOTSA are awful.

I like them, but I also realise that stuff like Kyuss and QOTSA is an acquired taste, as stoner-rock isn't always easily accessible.

Otherwise unrelated note, I have 63 of the albums on that list.

How Master of Puppets didn't hit the top 10 is beyond me, that's just about the greatest in my opinion, but other than that it's a good list.

I still can't believe people think OK Computer is such an amazing album. (MuchMoreMusic's listed had it top five too). I mean, it's great, but it's not even Radiohead's best album, let alone of the best of all time.

Queens of the Stone Age so high is mind boggling. Franz too, even though I like them a fair bit. Outside of that, the top 25 isn't too bad.

The Bends > Ok Computer, personally.

I'm not a massive fan of Radiohead's later stuff, however, which I think you prefer, don't you?

It's more experimentive, in terms of the music itself. I don't like most of their early stuff. OK Computer has catchy songs on it but nothing that has really staying power. A lot of their later stuff is either out there musically or disturbing lyrically. Many are both, which I dig.

So yeah. Have at ye, scalliwag.

I'm surprised to see Johnny Cash's American IV on any list of the best albums. It is (and this is coming from a big Johnny Cash fan) not the best of the American series. It's very hard to listen to in some places because of Cash's condition. American III however is a much better album, Cash's voice is still pretty strong and the songs are much better imo.

I'm quite surprised to see Toxicity so high on the list, and that neither Mesmerize nor Steal this Album were on it at all. I like Toxicity, but it's not the best SOAD album by a long shot.

QOTSA are awful.

That is a lie and you know it is! :P

I'm surprised QOTSA is at #2 - maybe Germany loves them more than they love David Hasslehoff. Although the album is great, Lullabies To Paralyse is better on so many levels.

Nirvana at number 1 is unsurprising. Yes, they are overrated and yes, Kurt killing himself to avoid Nirvana becoming a commercialistic goldmine is ironic as people listened to them as an indirect result of it (the media coverage etc.). The first five tracks on this particular album are pretty good though.

For The Lonesome Hobo, American 3 is on there (not sure if you saw it, or were responding to it being on there).

For Ze, Mesmerize is in the list.

For CTHB, the whole "Nevermind" album is a quality example of a band being able to do commerically acceptable alternative music whilst still retaining thier "artistic integrity", or whatever. Kinda similar to what bands like Pantera and Metallica did for metal.
