I agree with Pepsi.

The Batman nomination is great.

Love for Howls Moving Castle cheers me up also.

Otherwise a bit pile of 'meh' as ALWAYS.

Roll on Venice Film Festival.....

(any awards festival that gave Zatoichi four awards is loved by me)

I want to see the other two films nominated in the best picture category before making predictions, but of the three I've seen Crash is fantastic, Munich is really good and Brokeback Mountain is ridiculously overrated. Heath Ledger was pretty awesome in it though, so his nomination is fine.

I generally like the nominations this year. Brokeback was good after the terrible first act, Crash was great, and Good Night and Good Luck was a wonderful movie too. I really want to see Capote and I'll be making a point out of seeing it before the Oscars happen.

Ideally, Crash would win Best Picture but I don't see it happening.

Coming from someone who liked Brokeback Mountain, I thought Anne Hathaway did a better job than Williams. Williams's performance mostly consisted of her looking depressed the entire time with the one moment that mostly consisted of crying and sobbing while Hathaway showed a much more composed and yet heartbroken look in the final scenes that required a solid amount of talent to pull off. Nothing against Williams, she did good, but Hathaway was the better of the two.

So, other than that, sounds slick. I needs to see me Good Night, And Good Luck. That line said by Strathairn in the trailer is delivered so badass that I must see it.

I agree entirely. I'm baffled at Williams being chosen over Hathaway, but maybe they just didn't want Ella Enchanted to be nominated for an Oscar or something.

Personally, I thought Brokeback Mountain was incredibly boring and Crash to me is the best out of all of those nominated, but Heath did a great jobin Brokeback, so he deserves his nod, but I'd really like to see Terrence Howard get the award. But Reese should get the win for Best Actress, althought I have yet to see North Country.

I'm really not getting the love for Crash. I found it beyond redemption, it seemed as if a high school senior had dreamt it up. The major white characters along with the Persian father showed the biggest gap in logic to the films intentions. Sandra Bullock isn't suddenly going to love minorities just because she makes the realisation that her foreign house bitch is her only true friend. Nor do I think that the Persian father would hunt down the Latino guy. Sure if he had of come back into the shop after the robbery I see things being heated and there would be a possibility of the gun coming into play. But I doubt that the growing feeling of impotence would lead him to actively stalk him.

I could see the intentions and where the story was aiming to go, but I found it an insult to my intelligence that all of the characters would have singular epiphanies that would 'cure' them of their racism. Racism is something that is slowly gained, it is also something that takes years to remove. I think American History X dealt with the issue in a much more satisfying and honest way. In short Crash was a decent movie to pass away a couple of hours but it was far from an honest depiction of racism.

Quick note; though I don't feel the urge to argue about a movie that I honestly enjoyed, I will note that I HATED the Sandra Bullock subplot. Hated it.
