BROWNS NOT COUNTING ON WINSLOW

In response to a tip that we recently received regarding the condition of Browns tight end Kellen Winslow following microfracture surgery on the knee that he initially injured when he made like Evel Knievel in May 2005, we've checked with a couple of our sources and we've determined that the powers that be in Cleveland are not counting on Winslow to be available for the 2007.

"There really is a good chance he won't play this season," a league source told us.

The bigger question, as the source pointed out, is why didn't the Browns shut Winslow down earlier in the 2006 season? They were out of the playoff hunt, and yet Winslow (to the pleasure of fantasy owners only) continued to play despite being listed as questionable nearly every week due to his knee.

"I would have made him have the surgery earlier to make sure he'd be ready for this upcoming season," said the source.

But there are also whispers that, in the wake of the procedure for creating scar tissue that will simulate knee cartilage, Winslow might never be able to play again.

Stay tuned.

Yeah I know from previous rumors that Profootballtalk is basically a rumors site that the majority of the time misses rather then hits on thier rumors so I really dont believe much of what they say. From what I have heard Winslow is off crutches and has been doing fine since the surgury so until I hear otherwise from a more reliable source that I what I believe.

And also Evil Chase K like you said Porter was highly overated IMO and he was more a product of the Steelers system rather then much of an impact player and they should be glad that they got rid of Porter. He isnt going to really put up the numbers he has in the past and as he just showed he is just a distraction to the team. I was wondering if the Bengals were going to make it through the offseason without an arrest this year, that was obviously too high of an expectation for them.

From ProFootballTalk.com...

PORTER, JONES IN BRAWL

Per numerous media reports, including the Las Vegas Review-Journal, newly-signed Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was cited for misdemeanor battery on Sunday night after allegedly punching Bengals left tackle Levi Jones in the face.

The altercation started at a gaming table at the Palms casino.

Per an e-mail from a reader who claims to have witnessed the incident, "They started talking sh-t, Joey Porter saying he'll always be a Steeler. He showed off the Super Bowl ring and Jones got up to him, and Joey Porter pretty much kicked his ass . . . . Jones never got a shot in."

Of course, this means that the Dolphins will be getting three points in Turd Watch. And that we'll also have to figure out how to reset our "days without an arrest" back to zero.

Eventhough he's highly overrated, I will always consider Joey Porter a Steeler and he will be missed. I hope he has 50 sacks this year, as long as he gets none against his former team.

The Denver Broncos cut defensive end Courtney Brown after the former No. 1 overall pick failed his physical.

Philadelphia free-agent linebacker Shawn Barber visited the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans this past weekend.

Chicago free-agent defensive tackle Ian Scott visited the Minnesota Vikings.

Because i'm curious where everyone stands, what are your your top two favorite teams?

I like the Colts in the AFC. The NFC i'm more of a bandwagon fan. Last season I liked the Saints. I use to be a big Seahawks fan but I hate Hasselbeck.

I also have an affinity for the Raiders, just because of the history behind their franchise, though I wouldn't consider myself a big fan.

Being from Vancouver, I'm probably more a fan of the Seahawks then anyone else, but I always like to root for the losers, so I'm a Cleveland supporter as well.

1. Chicago Bears. From Illinois, always loved Chicago, raised a Bears fan.

2. Indianapolis Colts. I live 10 minutes from Indiana, lots of family that lives in Indianapolis.

3. San Diego Charger. Always loved their baby blue uniforms and with my cousin being a Falcons fan, I've always been a HUGE LT fan.

1. Dallas Cowboys. Been a fan since the mid-late 70's.

2. Chicago Bears.

3. Tennessee Titans. Actually liked them when they were the Houston Oilers, but once they became the Titans then leapt over the Chiefs as my favorite AFC team.

4. Kansas City Chiefs.

I only care about the Colts as long as Peyton Manning is their QB. Team can go to hell if he ever moves on.

I only have teams that I particularly hate:

1. Pittsburgh Steelers. Funnily enough, I'm a big Terry Bradshaw fan and also liked Mean Joe Greene, but I fucking HATE the Steelers.

2. Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles used to be my third favorite NFC team, but I got pissed off at the Eagles' fans in the game where Michael Irvin suffered the injury that ended his career, and there are other reasons I still dislike the team.

3. San Francisco 49ers. My hatred started with their domination the 80's and continues on. The fact that they've got the ugliest uniforms in the entire NFL (well....maybe not; the Browns' unis are pretty ass-ugly, too) doesn't help.

I am fucking sick of the New England Patriots, though.

Chiefs, then the Lions.

Lived in Detroit, which explains the Lions, but nobody knows why I'm a diehard Chiefs fan. Have been as far as back as anyone can remember, days of Barry Word and company, heh.

Lions fans FTW. Oh, and how about Christian Okoye?

Yeah, I'm a die hard Lions fan, much to my own dismay (not really). I've been supporting them for years now, and they've always been my number one team in Detroit despite some very good Pistons, Wings, and now Tigers teams. They are loveable losers, and hopefully will the corner.

Beyond that, everybody else is our enemy. Especially the NFC North.

Though I guess I have a soft spot for the Bengals for some odd reason. Maybe it was the years of futility?
