Good call on Road to Perdition, that one is always overlooked.

The Departed is an absolute must-see.

And even though it's a comedy, watch Made with Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau. First off, it's Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau. Plus, Peter Falk, you don't really need much more. Great take on a Mob story.

Forget all the Departed reccomendations and watch Infernal Affairs instead. It's ten times better.

This is going to be like when everyone tells people to see Ringu instead of the Ring.

Don't be silly, all things Asian are better than the US remakes. <_<

I am sure the guy would rather see an actual movie he doesn't have to read shitty subtitles for. (Y)

Or you could really piss off the movie purists and watch it... DUBBED!

City Of God is decent if you can put up with subtitles. It's described as "the Brazilian Goodfellas" or something like that. I wouldn't say that at all, but it's good.

Blow is less of a gang film and more about Johnny Depp selling drugs. He works with a Colombian Cartel in it, if that counts. Great film that never gets mentioned.

Cop Land is a good film.

Traffic is rated highly, but I think it's boring.

Gangster No. 1 and The Krays. I don't like either of them, though.

If you've seen Goodfellas, Casino, Scarface, Godfather Part I & Part II, Donnie Brasco, The Departed, Snatch and Lock, Stock & Two Smokin' Barrels, then you've seen the best of them.

What's the problem with watching subtitled movies?

I don't have a problem with it. My gripe with everyone talking about Infernal Affairs is that it seems to be common place for anyone on the internet to recommend it over the Departed, just because it was the original. Just because it became Americanized, popular, and won an Oscar, it doesn't have to be inferior just because it's something of a remake.

Boyz N The Hood is also kinda a gang movie, although not the kind you're looking for. But damned if I don't cry near the end every time.
