England Take Out First One Day Match

An unbeaten 94 by Kevin Pieterson and a brilliant 6/29 from Stuart Broad have guided England to a 23 run victory in the first One Day International against India. After Trescothick came out firing with 35, the English order collapsed (including a 2 ball duck for Hildreth on debut) with Kevin Pieterson their only shining light. India started strongly and looked to be in the drivers seat before Broad stepped forward and demolished the Indian batting attack. England lead the series 1-0 with 2 matches to play. Previous to this, England lost the Twenty20 match by 20 runs, falling short of India's 162.

Whats the easiest way to check out how a player did in a single series? Asking for the runs and wicket totals.

Unless the series was the first they played in that year, going through each match and counting =/

I assumed as such....>_>

Played 3 matches thus far in the West Indies Test Series, and so far the series is sitting at 1-1. The first match was drawn, when I seemed to be in a decent position, but just couldn't get the score I needed on the board quick enough. The 2nd test, I put about 480 on the board in my second innings for 3, to give me a 300 lead, declared early on the 5th day and then saw the Windies rattle off my score with 2 wickets and 2 overs to spare, close, but poor captaining by me. In the last one, the Windies batting just didn't get going on either innings, and it left me just over 200 to win with my 2nd innings. Was cruising, but lost 4 wickets for 14 or so runs, but only lost 2 others and picked up a 4 wicket victory.

The only real changes to my team has been Cook as the standard opening partnership with Vaughan, Broad in for the first 2 tests, dropped from Tremlett in the 3rd, and I've dropped Strauss for Collingwood (I believe), due to me needing a 5th option for the ball. It was either Bell or Strauss, with Vaughan, Cook, Trescothick, Pietersen, Flintoff and Nixon already in, so I dumped Strauss due to form. Panesar and Harmison made up the other places.

Games off, so this is all off the top of my head generally, but I'll be updating my scores when I next get on.

Managed to won the meaningless 3rd test. Having similar scores to each other in the first innings at 400+, I reduced them to 262 all out thanks to the magic of Money. With a reasonable target to chase, it seemed every time we would start up the making of a reasonable partnership we lost a wicket. Lucky that George Harvey in his 2nd ever test showed the mature and level-headedness of a vet to look after the tale and see us home on 271-7, with himself getting an unbeaten 97. Onto the 20/20 and ODI series, where I really suck. :(

I absolutely crushed the Windies in the final test, winning the Series 2-1. I got a reasonable 382 in the first innings, but when they were all out for just over 200, I was in command, and blasted my way to a 550 run lead before declaring. I ended up taking the victory by 263 runs. Man of the series was either Panesar or Cook, Cook blasting some really decent scores at the top of the order.

I then went on to win the 20/20 by 30 runs. I put 174 on the board, with a good 48 by Varun Chopra (I guy, I admit, I picked due to me going to school with him.....as well as him being good). One of the best scores I'd got in 20/20, and West Indies struggled all the way. Now for the ODI's.

My 20/20 game was also quite fun. India got what I thought was a fairly low 128 for 6, and with Vaughan and Strauss blasting away at the top order with a stand of 72 I thought no sweat. Then Singh got to work. By the 2nd to last ball Sharma dismissed my 3rd highest scorer Nixon for 18, leaving it all up to Simon Jones to get at least two runs off the last ball. He managed a very streaky four and we snatched the game by 3 wickets. >_>

No records beaten, so I won't both updating that. My squad for the ODI's reads Vaughan, Pietersen, Harvey, Bell, Cook, Bopara, Strauss, Nixon, Collingwood, Flintoff, Jones, Hoggard, Panesar, Broad and Anderson.

Lost easily again, my bowling is terrible. Collingwood was best with bat and ball, Havary and Pietersen tred too but too many players not doing enough every match is costing us. Plus, I am not that good. >_>

Was absolutely crushed in the first ODI against the Windies. Lost the toss, and they put on 279 in 50 overs, and it was all uphill from there. The only good thing in the bowling was Hoggard's return to the team saw him pick up 3 wickets.

I then ended up all out for 135. I had Bopara, Collingwood and Chopra in, bad team selection really, and will probably look to include Bell, Strauss or Cook in the 2nd ODI, as the batting failed badly.

EDIT: Bollocks, I forgot that once you chose your team, you are stuck with it >_>

SECOND EDIT: 2nd match, and 2-0 down already. I was in to bat first, and managed to only achieve 176. I got 6 of thier wickets, but they rattled it off with 2 overs to spare.

LAST EDIT: Finally beat them, but almost threw it away. I had them bowled out for 176, helped by some beautiful bowling by Panesar, and was racing my way towards it, when I had a collapse. I ended up winning by 3 wickets with 2 balls to spare, as the runs dried up completely. Now, at least it is 2-1, and I'm still in with a chance.

There aren't any other cricket threads so I'll shove it in here. I got my first century today! Wahey. 131 runs at over a run a ball, which is unusual for me. It was part of a 312 second wicket partnership. We got the 380-2 off 40 overs (yep, 9.5 an over), and bowled them out for 180 off an incredibly boring 30 overs (they could've at least tried to smash it about). So... good stuff.

Lost the last ODI against India by 11 runs. Always just fell short against them I think. 1st tes against the Windies went well. 1st innings batting collasped bar Pietersen, Harvey and Flintoff. The latter two getting 156 and 181no to give us a total of 453. Soon bowled them out for 275, they managed to avoid the follow-on despite early loss of wickets. Only got one century next innings, a fine 132 from Collingwood who's lost wicket had us declared at 380/7. The Windians were too far behind to make a real challenge and eventually fell for 319. So, this is what a lead feels like eh? :shifty:
