NHL 08 Vs. NHL 2K8

I just came in to say, if you're undecided, the '08 demo is up on the 360 Marketplace and it is fan-fucking-tastic. You get one period, Ducks versus Senators, and it feels so much better. '07 feels like guys are skating on the moon in comparison, it's a lot more realistic. And it's much more feasible to cycle the puck. The one-on-one deke controls should be good with a little practice. And big hits are a lot rarer, which is good, because I was averaging about one hundred a game on 07.

That is the greatest thing EA has ever come up with. I dread to think what franchise mode is going to be like, surely they can't release a game that has both quality gameplay and bug-free, competitive season/franchise mode? And if they can, will somebody tell the Madden team how to fucking do it?

The only thing I hated about Madden 07 was the fact that my portrait got stuck as a guy with a green afro in Superstar mode.

I am really looking forward to both of these games though, I might venture back into the EA series once again if they got rid of the idiotic body checking.

Going on the demo, they have. Certainly less frequent. More rewarding when you do lay someone out.

Has EA said whether or not the codes to unlock the new jerseys will work with PS2... or am I stuck with the old uniforms because I refuse to trade my arm for a next gen system?

The new jerseys will most likely be the defaults. Was it said elsewhere that the new jerseys would not be available right away?

I guess it's possible they've made new style jerseys a next-gen exclusive, but I'm sure I would have read about that somewhere.

The game is being released on the 11th, which is in some cases, almost two weeks before a lot of teams are going to be revealing their new jerseys. From what I understand after searching through the NHL 08 message boards, you're going to have to put in a code to unlock some of the new uniforms, if not all of them... and even then, there have been questions as to whether or not the PS2 version would even be getting the new jerseys.

I went to EB games today after hearing people had it but only to then find out they are releasing it tomorrow. I was sad... so I bought 2K8 for ps2 just because it cost $20 and had spezza on the cover. Probably won't go to class tomorrow and I will go early to eb games and pick up 08 and then play until I have to go to work.

Good lord, 2k8 got PASTED in the 1up review. NHL 08 got a 9.5 IIRC and 2k8 got a 4.

The advertisments online for the game say September 13th now... ... that makes me such a sad panda.

I haven't decided yet what team to control in Dynasty this year. Just that it won't be the Flames, who I used for 07. There's a lot of interesting opportunities with the way the rosters shape up this season.

IGN has reviews up for both games as well.

For the 360, NHL 08 got 8.9 while NHL 2K8 recieved 8.6, so both games are very good. It all comes down to personal preference.

Screenshots from IGN show that in NHL 08, the jerseys from last year are worn. I hope they release an update or something later on to unlock the newer jerseys - just missing out on Buffalo's new one last year bummed me out.
