Confederations Cup

USA are 2 up against Egypt, one more and they're through which'd be remarkable given they were about 6 goals and 3 points behind before the game began.

Edit: USA 3-0 up and as it stands go through.

For as bad as the US played up until that point it was awesome to see them come through and play a good attacking game. Could have easily been 4-0 if they had called the handball on the goal line from Altidore's shot but ill take it. I only hope that Bob Bradley gives Adu or Torres a chance for us because the CM not named Bradley haven't shown a ton so far in the CC. It just made it extra sweet that we were actual able to play with 11 guys on the field the whole game and also to take Italy's spot in the semis because I just despise the Italians for obvious reasons.

Shocking. Lippi has got a lot of work to get this team back into shape. Fair dues it's a cup that they don't seemingly care about, that's still no excuse though. It's just the losses of the likes of Nesta, Del Piero, Totti and Maldini are so hard to replace. The first thing Lippi needs to do is stop playing Chiellini in central defence. He's a fucking left back and always will be, why cant they start to realise that? Having him in the center is killing this defence, a team that was once regarded as the best defence in International football. And please can the commentators stop harping on about Rossi like he's amazing. He's a good player, he's not great. He's still got a lot of improving to do and him not starting is far from the reason why Italy were so poor in this. Also, Zambrotta has to go, simple as that. Moving to Barcelona was the worst mistake he ever made, because it's pretty much finished his career. He's just not the same player he used to be and the focus needs to be switched to Santon, who even at a young age is much more reliable now. Lots of work needs to be done for next year.

That all said, well done USA for sneaking it. I'll enjoy seeing them get slaughtered by Spain :w00t: (and Brazil/Spain final should be great to watch, rooting Brazil all the way)

Yeah the US would have to play basically a perfect game to have any chance against Spain, "friendly" tournament or not and other then today where they still made some mistakes there is just very little chance of that happening. I gotta say that Onyewu has been looking pretty strong in this tournament and it will be interesting to see where he ends up now that he is out of contract.
