Loads of news today.

- Hermann Tilke will be designing the Austin GP circuit

- Johnny Herbert will return to the role of the stewards' driver advisor at this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix

- Pirelli are "on the verge" of securing a solo Formula 1 tyre deal, with no tyre wars until at least 2013

- Force India will be running their f-duct at Turkey whereas RBR will be testing theirs in P1/P2

- Stefano Domenicali says that Massa will be retained after for 2011

So. Pirelli back for the first time since 1991. Will be interesting, and they're sticking with 13 inch wheels too.

Sutil had the only accident of the session - he lost control of his Force India at Turn 8 with two minutes to go and spun backwards into the barriers, causing substantial damage to the car. Sakon Yamamoto drove the HRT car instead of Bruno Senna in first practice.

Is there a thread for indy car, or would just a generic, race-related question be acceptible in this topic?

Sure feel free to ask I guess!

RBR are not running their f-duct tomorrow as they want to properly spend the time analysing all of the data before making a decision for the Canadian GP.

Disappointing for the Williams', Liuzzi, and especially Alonso. Kobayashi cracks the top ten again, more consistency from Kubica, better from Schumacher, Vettel very annoyed (a broken rear roll-bar was confirmed as the cause), Hamilton sandwiched inbetweek the two Red Bull's, and another great session from Webber. And the pole-sitter usually goes on to win.

Finally, Michelin is to make an eleventh hour last-ditch bid to try and win the supply deal for next year's Formula 1 tyres, with company representatives due to fly in to Istanbul on Sunday for a meeting with the teams. This is despite the deal with Pirelli being 95% 'done and dusted'. Either wat, Martin Whitmarsh says that the deal will be signed by the Canadian GP.

Well that was random, a few weeks ago it was New York and now this out of the blue really.

Can't see an F1 style track being able to survive in Texas though so it seems an odd decision to me.

Survive? Can you elaborate on that?

Also, I love how Webber finds just enough speed to get himself P1 after not being that consistent during practice. :D.

Proof that Vettel is a dickhead? That crash right there, he just drove into Webber, this is why the guy will not win a world championship yet, unless he sorts out these inconsistencies and mistakes he will not be winning this year.

Seriously, i really dislike Vettel, he is just not the type of guy I want to be world champion in F1, its the same with Hamilton, they are both too impetuous for me to really like them.

Vettel's conduct is never befitting of a world champion race driver, when he does well he is an arrogant, smug cunt, and when it doesn't go his way he throws a ridiculous teenage strop. Horrible, just horrible.
