I was so excited when I heard the film was being made, worried when I heard who was cast and now those fears are realised. I've never heard such a bad rendition of I Dreamed A Dream.

They were doing auditions for extras a fifteen minute walk from my house and I only found out the day after they'd done it. Even if I'd know I wouldn't have been able to go as I was too busy watching Les Miserables in the West End. True story.

I actually thought it was quite good because it was acted, and not just sung pretty. The director has said that Les Mis won't be a musical film where everyone sounds perfectly on pitch and perfectly harmonized. The story and emotion will be more focused on than vibrato and belting. He's also recording all of the songs live, and there will be zero re-recording in a studio. It's a story about struggle and war, no one should sound perfectly rehearsed.
