Justin Verlander has been extended by the Tigers for five years and 140 million, it's tacked on to the previous two year deal he was in which means it's essentially seven years 180 million. He will be locked in until atleast 2019.

Pretty rad, glad to see he'll hopefully be a Tiger for life.

They had a thing about Johan on ESPN saying the no hitter might have aggravated his injury. He threw close to 140 pitches in that game. Pretty sad if thats the case but thats an achievment he can always remember

Buster Posey signed for 9 years $167 million. Lot of money for a catcher, but he's won two rings. It's curious whether he'll move to first at some point, but if not SF might very well be paying him this contract for the production of the first half of the deal. And, you know, if he brings them another ring then it's all worth it.

I doubt it. He had a few good starts after the no-hitter. I think his rogue bullpen session after being called out for not arriving to Spring Training in pitching shape did more damage.
