Ray Manzarek has died

He was a wonderful keyboard player with a unique sound. Seemed like a top guy whenever he was on TV, which was quite a lot.

I didn't realize he was actually the one who did the keyboards on Weird Al's Doors parody, holy shit.

I actually like the song the surviving Doors members did (using an old clip of Jim Morrison) with Skrillex. And I normally don't care for Skrillex, outside the stuff he did with Korn.

R.I.P. to one of my favorite keyboard players of all time.

Guess I'll throw some Doors on when I DJ in an hour. Going to load up the full length version of Light My Fire and Riders On The Storm. Maybe Break On Through, also. (May play Adrenaline Mob's cover of that, instead)

Really loved The Doors when I was first learning about rock as a pre-teen. They did some great stuff, and his keyboard playing in my eyes was the highlight.

That blows, Ray Manzarek was a great musician, and like damshow, the Doors were a huge part of my musical upbringing as a teen. Actually, I've grown to appreciate them even more as an adult, beyond the "Hey, cool sixties rock band" that I saw them as when I was a kid. The Doors will always be a favorite of mine, and it's a shame to see Ray pass on, he was a good dude if you've heard any interviews of his. He also produced a couple of X's albums as well.

R.I.P. Ray, heaven's got another rock icon.
