GTA Online has begun its Halloween surprise, cunningly entitled... well, Halloween Surprise.

Running from now until November 16, the celebration of all things horrific brings new masks, 30 facepaints and two new vehicles - the Lurcher Hearse and the Franken Strange (a delightful-looking hot rod) - as well as a new adversary mode: Slasher.

Slasher sees seven players running, hiding and trying to survive as they're stalked by the one designated slasher, hunting them with a shotgun.

Obviously everything is spooky and dark, but the non-slashers will have flashlights they can use - flashlights which also reveal their position to the slasher. But if you survive three minutes, you're rewarded with a shotgun of your own. Which is nice.

A bunch of Halloween facepaints, T-shirt designs and other such additions were discovered recently, so it likely won't surprise many who were paying close attention to what goes on with GTA Online. Still, it's nice to make things official, right?

Best of all, any rewards earned in and around Halloween Surprise are kept by the player, even after the event ends on November 16.

That Slasher mode sounds pretty cool.

It does actually yeah, unlike some of the newer modes they have put in.

Eddie doesn't need a flashlight to give his position away. He will just let of a flare.
