Trainspotting 2

I did not realize there was a sequel to Trainspotting. I'm also pretty surprised that it's a direct sequel - Jonny Lee Miller! ( :w00t: ) Ewan McGregor! The entire cast of the original it seems to be. I thought it'd just be one of those in name only type sequels, with new characters.

I've been looking forward to this as soon as I heard it was announced. Saw the trailer this morning and it looks good so far. It has a lot to live up to in terms of the original and the book it's being loosely based upon, but I think the combination of the original cast and Danny Boyle at the helm won't leave me disappointed.

If you guys are interested there is a prequel to Trainspotting in book form called Skagboys. I have yet to read it myself.

Also recommended is Glue, same author as Trainspotting (Irvine Welsh, great writer all around). Depending on how close T2 the movie is to the book sequel, Glue has some of the same characters in it you see in T2. Actually, there are a number of Trainspotting character cameos in Glue.

Have you seen Filth? Now that is a fucked up film. I enjoyed it but I can see why people wouldn't.

No, I've read the book though. It was good as usual, but yeah fucked up. They did a film of his short story book Acid House as well. That was good, but fucked up as you'd expect.

Check out the film. James McAvoy is quality in that.

I kinda hate this movie if I'm being honest

Trainspotting or Filth?

I can understand. Certain films dealing with addiction sometimes get me in a good way or sometimes get me in a bad way. Or maybe you are worried about being Scottish which is understandable.

Trainspotting. Sometimes movies hit too close to home I guess?

I know what you mean. When I first watched Trainspotting I hated all the characters but somehow I loved the film. Then I realised I was Begbie (Robert Carlyle), the guy who hated all the druggies but was a complete alcoholic >_>

I hope they follow close to Porno. That was a great follow up for Trainspotting. Never knew about Skagboys though, will have to check that out.

Irvine Welsh is really tough to get into at first with the way he writes. Took me forever to get into the phonetics. Then when I was done I had a hard time reading other books.
