  1. I know Pat took some shots at AEW during WM weekend because he’s towing the company line but him even uttering the phrase “Meltzer Driver” on a broadcast is hilarious
  2. Tony being acknowledged by Rich Eisen. My heart is warm.
  3. Giants fans who said “trust Joe Schoen to do the right thing at QB” for months switched right to to “fire Joe Schoen for sticking with Daniel Jones” in the blink of an eye and it’s infuriating It’s been widely reported they tried very hard to get Maye. The Pats didn’t want to make the move. Takes two to tango. They wouldn’t have tried for Maye if they had full confidence in Jones. But not having full confidence in Jones =/= thinking JJ or Penix were better choices for them. They would’ve taken either at #6 if they felt that way. Drafting a QB would’ve given Schoen and Daboll 2-3 years job security automatically and they still passed. That’s how little they thought of the rest of the QB field. Nobody knows how it will pan out but having that restraint should be commended IMO. Having a bad QB room isn’t good, but force drafting a QB you don’t actually believe in is about the dumbest fucking thing you could do.
  4. The Falcons taking Penix makes me think they know they’re gonna lose their 2025 1st rounder on tampering charges and they will try to flip his draft rights for a 2025 1st rounder this weekend. Of course that’s still hilarious considering signing Cousins is a win-now move and yet they instead punted the pick.
  5. Happy with the Nabers pick. They needed a #1 WR and got one. Of course, I’m not exactly thrilled with a Jones/Lock pairing and feel like the Giants will probably be right back at the top of the draft next year. But it is what it is. I’m glad we didn’t get McCarthy at that price point.
  6. Yeah now it sounds like the Pats are 100% taking Maye at 3 Giants fans are ripping Tommy DeVito for winning 3 football games last year and putting them in this position. First off, the Commies and Pats were way worse than the Giants - it would’ve been hard to NOT win those games. The Packers game was another story but if you weren’t happy seeing this team win a comeback MNF game against a better team after YEARS of being humiliated on primetime, you’re no fan. Yeah it’s a shitty situation but it’s on Schoen and Daboll to work with the hand they’re dealt. Players don’t tank. Don’t kill a kid for winning games, let alone on the team he grew up wanting to play for.
  7. As we sit here 2.5 hours before the draft, I’m thinking the Giants might actually trade up to #3 for Drake Maye. But this can go in so many directions. I’m still gonna trust Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll until I have a reason not to. Still feel like they might both be thinking getting a QB in this draft whether it be Maye, McCarthy, Penix, or Nix will at least get them some job security beyond 2024 as they can sell the fans on needing a year to build everything around the QB.
  8. I didn't have Jackson Holliday having statistically the worst start to a big league career since Gary DiSarcina in 1990 on my bingo card. Not even a case of bad luck either, he was making contact with less than 70 percent of the pitches he was swinging at in the strike zone, which is pretty unheard of for a consensus top prospect with a 70/80 hit tool. He did lace a hard single yesterday and called MLB pitching the first actual challenge he's faced in his baseball career, so he's got the right mindset to sort this out before long.
  9. The Knicks and Islanders gave me the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in the span of 15 minutes. Wow. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
  10. Brunson is the biggest reason the Knicks got the 2 seed but he’s been ass these first two playoff games. I never realized how much Embiid complained until this series. It’s literally after every play.
  11. These guys aren’t getting basic human element stuff wrong, they’re getting the most blatant shit wrong and having the biggest egos about it because the union makes them impervious. Things like this and Angel Hernandez seemingly going out of his way to get every call wrong make me wonder if before the year is done, someone’s gonna lose it and strike an umpire.
  12. I know some of the AI stuff is cringe but this is just so firmly in my wheelhouse in every way.
  13. Penix is someone that in theory I’d love to take but I think in the specific case of the Giants it would be too risky. First off his injury history is alarming, even though he’s been healthy the last couple of years. Daniel Jones is already injury prone as hell so taking another QB with a robust injury list is going to raise concerns off the bat. Second, they’re paying massive money to Andrew Thomas to be a franchise left tackle. For Penix you either have to move him to the right side where he hasn’t played since freshman year of college, or you have to entrust Penix’s blind side to Evan Neal who has been trash.
  14. Some of the more reputable "insiders" on the Big Blue Interactive boards have weighed in. Like anything else it's total speculation but those guys have been alarmingly accurate with Giants draft buzz back to 2017 or so, they get it right most every year not just with the Giants but with whatever teams they have ramifications for with trades and seemingly do have an actual front office connection somewhere. So grain of salt of course but fun to share anyway as it's a bit against the grain from what most others are saying: -Probably the biggest takeaway from their own digging is that Drake Maye is not anywhere near as high on the boards as the media thinks, at least among the teams most often projected to be drafting him. -The Pats supposedly have both Nix and Penix rated higher than both Maye and McCarthy. They feel Maye's too inconsistent and McCarthy's got too small a sample size. To that end, they'd take Marvin Harrison Jr. if they stayed at 3 but ultimately they are likely to trade down as the offers to get a QB there will be ridiculous. -The Vikings and Giants both have McCarthy over Maye and both have put out smokescreens on interest in Maye that they've sussed out. They both want to get to #3 and the Giants' pick swap would be higher but the Pats want to load up specifically for this draft, not next. So the Vikings' 2 first rounders is almost certainly gonna win out especially since they'd still be able to land one of their preferred QBs later in the 1st round. - If their intel was wrong about the Pats and they stay put and take anyone but McCarthy, the Giants do feel confident they could trade up to #4 for the Cards for him. The Cards don't want to fall out of the range of the top 3 WR and the likely cost to trade for the Giants would be the pick swap, their 3rd round pick, and next year's 2nd rounder. -The Giants don't agree with the Drake Maye/Josh Allen comps. Josh Allen was raw and didn't really have a QB coach. Maye had the coaching and so they view his inconsistencies with a lot more red flags, as do the other teams apparently. Neither the Vikings nor Giants are concerned about McCarthy's sample size because of the prevailing thought that Harbaugh handcuffed him. He didn't need to do more than what the team around him required. -All told the Giants believe the top 5 picks will be Williams to CHI, Daniels to WAS, McCarthy to MIN, Harrison to ARI, and Nabers to LAC. If it plays out like this they will likely trade down especially if another team really wants Maye or Odunze. They like Odunze and would take him if nobody was willing to go up to #6 but they feel they'd be better off stockpiling more picks and taking another WR from a deep class later. --- My thoughts: I've said all along I'll trust Schoen and Daboll until given a reason not to. Personally I really would love Drake Maye and I think just drafting him would guarantee both guys get job security for a while. But if they don't think he's going to live up to the hype, so be it. But if it plays out like this and the offense is still a trainwreck and Maye looks serviceable, they should be gone. They cannot afford to stay in this QB black hole any longer.
