  1. One of the things about this 3-5-2 we play is there isn't enough movement up top. Mata sits a bit deeper, Hernandez is static, Rooney is trying but can't do it all himself. Young and Januzaj are best going at the full back and cutting in, but they are too deep to get involved there often. Rooney as the number 9 and Januzaj or Nani in the 'Robben' role floating about linking up play would do a lot to create more opportunities I think. Will be interesting to see the changes LVG makes.
  2. Yeah, it was a league cup game where he didn't look sharp at all. After the Ivanovic bite.
  3. I wanted Evra to stay. We've lost the experience of Rio and Vidic already and Evra seems like one of the true leaders in the changing room. Plus now we have no cover/rotation for Shaw who could have done with a season of help from Evra. In terms of fitness he seems to hardly ever miss a league game even at 33. Must have consistently played 30+ games a season (40-50 with all other competitions included) for the past 8 years, the majority of which he's been great for us.
  4. Are Liverpool fans not happy with Remy? At £8mil, I'd think he's one of the better Liverpool signings this summer so far (bearing I don't know anything about Markovic because I don't think Portuguese football even comes on Sky or BT).
  5. Our interest suddenly dropped when Real Madrid got involved, so it's a case of probably speaking to his agent and hearing Kroos would rather go there, and not wanting to chase an unrealistic target and be embarrassed like last summer just for the sake of 'looking like we're in for the top talents'. I think generally there's a concerted effort this year to talk less to the press about our targets and to go about our business quietly after the leaks last summer.
  6. If I remember correctly, a few Chevrolet exec's got fired after that deal was announced. Woodward isn't the greatest at signing players but he doesn't half know how to negotiate a sponsorship deal.
  7. Have Southampton sold their kit manufacturer as well?
  8. That Di Maria story comes from The Metro who quote "Spanish sources". In other words, they made it up.
  9. The Derby yellow kit is one of the laziest efforts I've ever seen.
  10. 11 million for Ross McCormack is absolutely insane. That must be the most expensive transfer between two Championship teams ever?
  11. United signed the Spanish midfielder Herrera who isn't at the World Cup. Rio is talking about the Mexican midfielder Herrera.
  12. If he appeals the ban, could he feasibly still play on Saturday against Colombia whilst it's being reviewed?
  13. I have Mexico to win and over 4.5 yellows, which isn't looking likely because of this ref!
  14. I saw it before the match at either 6/1 or 7/1. I'd back him as next scorer in-play as soon as he comes off the bench and it should be around the same odds.
  15. "It's on me 'ed, SON. Not off me 'ed, SON." I feel this one always gets unfairly left out of great World Cup song debates. One of the better Keith Allen efforts.
  16. Charlie Adam committing a foul after approximately 4 seconds of coming on has to be a record.
  17. It's still incredibly tight at the bottom. Cardiff are still only 3 points off safety with 11 games to go. Today was a big loss for them but 3 points is nothing when there are 33 to play for and many other teams down with them looking very inconsistent. It'll be a good test of Solskjaer's talent to see if he can lift their morale up after such a big defeat.
  18. Doing the same myself. I've been really successful with betting lately but could see the stakes I was putting down getting higher. So I've took it all out except a tenner which I'm trying to turn into £100. Have got it up to £54 now so halfway there.
  19. Cabaye to PSG looks to be on according to Sky Sports, with 'a deal agreed in principle'
  20. Sky Sports News are saying West Ham have too.
  21. I hate having accumulators over different time periods, but I will generally put a single on the early kick off rather than bet on the 3pm's these days. I like being able to actually watch the game on TV and hoping my bet comes off, rather than just following it on Soccer Saturday or BBC News and not really knowing what the game's like. Stuck on Sunderland to draw or win when they were 1-0 so I'm probably the only one in here happy with Sunderland!
  22. Sky Sports sources are saying the owner wants to sell, Cortese has handed in his resignation some time ago and Pochettino would follow the Chairman out the door. Could be just the sort of thing that sees a few of their players leaving this month.
  23. Lovely. Ref completely lost control of the match with that one decision, Four yellows before half-time is crazy.
  24. Newcastle need to keep their heads. Or alternatively completely lose it and win my bet on over 3 yellows today.
