  1. Here's the latest update: http://www.filedropper.com/ewr199801282015

I cut the promotions down to 18 - It was just impossible finding reliable info on the rest, and I wasn't sure if they were operating at the time.

Logos/banners are done for the promotions in the game. There are at least 10 wrestlers on each roster (most have way more). I've added some more staff and edited pics and stats for them, as well as updated some stats for wrestlers and added a few. I have a list of wrestlers to add and staff to add, but I'm getting near the end of this thing finally, guys.

  2. August Liguori is 63 years old http://people.equilar.com/bio/august-liguori-world-wrestling/salary/11692#.VMhwoi5GQxI

He no longer works for the WWE http://www.newstimes.com/local/article/At-WWE-McMahon-blended-cunning-with-kindness-4004394.php#page-2

"August Liguori of West Harrison, N.Y., worked for the McMahons from the late 1990s through the early 2000s as WWE's executive vice president and CFO. He was "headhunted" from Marvel Entertainment."

Here is a pic of staff member Barry Werner from his linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/barrywerner

    oWkOXl9.jpg

Since he graduated from college in '78, I'd raise his age from 42 to 58-59 or so.

  3. Chris Chambers is definitely older than 35... He started working for WWF/WWE in 1992, and he was the producer of a show called Pennant Chase in 1982.

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1976515/

    https://www.linkedin.com/pub/chris-chambers/74/383/342

So yeah, I'd up his age to 54-55. That's assuming the age of 22 when he was producer of Pennant Chase.

  4. Another staff age change:

    https://www.linkedin.com/pub/andy-gregg/3b/993/236

Andy Gregg is listed as 32. He's probably closer to 39. He graduated from college in 1997. Assuming he was 21-22 (average age of graduation), and since he started working in the WWF in 2000, which would put him in his mid-20s, which seems about right... that means he'd be 39 or so. I'd up his age to that.

Trying to find a pic for him but having no luck unfortunately.

    EDIT: Twitter prevails! https://twitter.com/nflgiant

Another Staff pic, this time for Dr. Frederick Feuerbach:

  5. As some of you may remember, I've been working on this scenario forever. It still isn't finished. However, it's closer than it's ever been. There are over 1700 workers, 20 promotions, over 2800 relationships, over 500 tag teams, over 300 staff, over 1300 alter egos, and I've at least begun inputting belts, television shows, events, stables, etc. Sponsors are more or less complete.

The scenario is probably playable for a majority of promotions as-is, but there's still some work that needs done. I have many workers to add and a lot of research to do. If anybody wants to lend a helping hand, I'll start posting some questions here. But as for now, here is the scenario as it is, including pictures, logos, graphics, etc.

    http://www.filedropper.com/ewr1998

Please let me know what you think.

Oh, and a special thanks goes to DocPepper, Philahitman, Bill1996, Andrew (the guy who made the original 1998 scenario WAY BACK in the day), and a whole host of other EWB members who've helped me with this scenario along the way.

    EDIT:

I'm thinking of removing WCPW as I can't find enough info about the promotion at the time to put a decent roster, come up with staff, etc. Most of the guys aren't even on cagematch, and the only events I've found on cagematch are from 1995 and 2002, not enough to create a solid roster.

Does anyone know what Victor Quinones was doing at this time?

WWC's roster is now at 32 and their belts are added. I need stats for their Junior Heavyweight champ at the time, La Ley.

  6. Hey guys. Coincidentally I just started working on this again like a week or two ago. I've actually made a ton of progress. I'm gonna start a new thread since this one has gotten so cluttered and go from there. I'll edit the link into here once I get the upload done and get a new thread posted. Thanks for the (continued) interest in the scenario. :)

  7. More staff changes:

Andrew McManus DEFINITELY isn't 32. The guy is pretty old-looking... probably around 55 years old. Here's an article on him from several years ago:

    http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/music/presenting-mr-mcmanus-20111222-1p728.html

And look at his pic - He's got a gray beard and gray hair (not saying all dudes with gray hair are old, but c'mon).

I'd change his age to 55.

If Brian Dixon is the Brian Dixon who runs All Star Wrestling in Britain, he's a lot older than 50. He started the promotion in 1970, and he's married to Mitzi Mueller, who's in her mid-late 60s.

I'd estimate he was born before 1945, so I'd change his age to 69 or 70, conservatively.

Change Ed Hellier's age to 50. The guy's been working in television/movies since the mid-80s. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0375434/

  8. I'm impressed that you are still doing these updates, Bill. I'm equally impressed that you're still suffering from computer problems and haven't gotten a more reliable one. o_O

This is kind of a random question, one that probably should've been addressed years ago, but is there any reason Stone Cold doesn't have Fonz Factor ticked? I mean, he's one of the coolest wrestlers in history and was viewed as cutting edge in the 90s and is still seen as one of the most bad ass, coolest guys, between his TV shows/films/etc. and I'd say of anybody, he's got the "it factor". Just wondering.

  9. I don't know if this is the right thread for this question, but it seemed like it. Also, this question may have been answered somewher already, so if it is, feel free to point it out to me.

Should the stats in EWR reflect the worker's skill compared to current workers or on an all-time scope? I mean, let's think of Bruiser Brody, who usually gets 100 in brawling. Even though he isn't active anymore (for obvious reasons), should all brawling stats, even current ones, be compared to his prime, ie. if someone in a current setting has 100 brawling, it'd mean they're as good as Brody? Or, should the stat be compared to contemporaries only, so that the best brawler at a given time should have 100, even though they wouldn't be as good as Brody?

I'm not sure if that makes any sense, but it's just something I've been thinking about a lot since getting back into EWR.

I don't know if this is the answer you'll like, but I think of it as skill regardless of time frame. I don't think anyone should ever have 100 in brawling, speed, or tech, as nobody is going to have a perfect performance every time. Even 100 in charisma is iffy, but there are some guys who literally have classic promos just about every time (Stone Cold comes to mind). But yeah... I wouldn't say just because Bruiser Brody was this amazing brawler in his day, it doesn't mean no one else should get high marks in brawling, but say Brody is a 97 in his prime in brawling, and if you think he's the greatest brawler ever (personally I'd argue for guys like Foley in his prime, Masato Tanaka in his, etc. being up there as well), that doesn't mean other guys couldn't get 94's or whatever. But I would say, yes, it is skill regardless of the time frame for me, but that's just me. It's why... say you think the guy who's best on the mic right now is Seth Rollins. Well, he's nowhere near as good as a prime CM Punk or Ric Flair was, so I wouldn't give Rollins a 100.

  10. With over 5800 workers in the database currently, I'm really not liking the idea of going through and making sure none of them have shooting checked, only to have to go through and recheck it, if this whole "shooting only affects who PRIDE will sign" theory is incorrect.

Or you could start a new game, click "other workers," search for those with 'Shooting Ability' and manually remove it.

    Just saying :shifty:

That's fine and dandy... But, what happens if we find out that there is something else in the game that having shooting ability triggers? such as working for an ingame promotion run by an owner that prefers Mixed Martial Arts, as I said before?

Then, I have to have either had a list of all of the people I've removed it from and re-add it, or go to a past update, get the list from that update and again, re-add the shooting ability for those that it applies to... Either way, huge waste of time... Time that could be better spent on other things...

Unless, of course, everyone feels that this shooting being checked thing is more important that adding workers, name changes, title changes, face/heel changes, etc, etc.

    -Bill

I have no idea if this was ever addressed. I don't mean to necro bump an old post from so long ago, but I was curious and bored waiting on family. I made a scenario with just WWE (which I controlled) and a company called Shooting with an owner that prefers martial arts. I let the game fill in workers. It only created two workers with shooting ability (based on checking the other workers on the very first day before WDW, NPW, or Shooting nabbed any). I advanced to the next day, letting the other promotions pick their guys. NPW picked one of the workers with shooting ticked. The other one is still unemployed. So there you go. Now we know. Or maybe someone else already did this. Considering it took about 5 minutes to do, I assume someone else already answered it, but again I was bored.

    Go Bucks.

  11. This leads to a better question as well for cutting down tag teams:

What should be the line to constitute a new tag team being added to the game?

Random "MAKE BRYAN DANIELSON [NOT! Daniel Bryan!] AND THE GIANT [NOT! The Big Show!] A TAG TEAM, THEY TEAMED ON THE RAW" teams going in for no good reason is bloating up the tag team ranks- but on the flipside, what's a good baseline to say "okay, THIS TEAM" deserves to be in the game?

We know being a tag team on an episode of Raw shouldn't immediately make two people a team. But the same problem of booking realistically to the WWE leads to an equal problem finding the line. The most natural line is things like "Well, if the two teams were the tag team champions at one point, they should be in"- since WWE will regularly throw together heavyweights for a tag title win or use the "These two guys hate each other/are fighting at the next pay-per-view...BUT THEY'RE ALSO THE TAG CHAMPS TOGETHER! How can they co-exist?" angle, then you have problems like "MAKE THE PROTOTYPE [NOT! John Cena!] AND MIKE FROM THE REAL WORLD [NOT! The Miz!] A TAG TEAM, THEY WON THE TAG TITLES IN WHAT'S BEEN ACCEPTED AS A BOTCHED PINFALL KICKOUT AND HAD THE MATCH REWORKED TO LOSE A FEW MINUTES LATER!"

With these in mind, to help cut the tag teams down, we should also decide what the line is for us to consider a tag team a TAG TEAM, then go from there. I know there's a few teams mentioned for the WWE list- and even teams I put on the list for TNA and ROH- that I would personally recognize as a valid tag team, but followed one of the rules said- so it's necessary to define it and then start cutting the list down.

I think we're above reductio ad absurdum here. Not everyone suggesting these teams are elitist smart marks who only refer to wrestlers by their indy names and type in all caps. I think you can give a little more respect than that and not build these strawman arguments.

Anyway, I don't see a problem with putting a team in if they win the tag team titles, even if it's a short reign or to further a feud. They still won the tag team titles and will be recognized as a team, unlike say, a random pairing used JUST to further a feud without any titles attached or official recognition as a team.

As for your second example, look at a team such as HBK and Austin or Austin and Dude Love. These teams were put in the game in most older scenarios, and I can't see a reason why they shouldn't be. They had tag team title reigns, and even if it was part of a larger storyline, they are at least recognized as a team in history because of holding the tag gold.

  12. What a shitstorm... I feel bad for Bill. I really do.

Anyway, I just wanted to say I agree with Bill1996 regarding how to handle "shooting" and having it ticked. Amateur wrestling IS a martial art. While the goal is to pin, it's still a combat sport. It teaches you how to neutralize opponents, defend yourself, etc.

I know TUF1 was 2005, but Josh Koscheck debuted with practically JUST amateur wrestling experience. It's not a big leap for someone who did primarily amateur wrestling to go to the UFC considering the main background of fighters these days IS amateur wrestling. UFC is loaded with NCAA Champions, Olympic wrestlers, etc. And they do very well. UFC is points-based if a fight doesn't end, just like wrestling is based on points. Just because UFC encompasses ALL styles of martial arts, it doesn't mean someone has to come from a "striking" art or a "submission" art or a style that emphasizes finishing. Karate is also largely points-based as well, depending on the specific style. I think we could agree that if someone has karate experience you would tick shooting, so you should for amateur wrestling as well, as it IS a martial art. Shootfighting and MIXED martial arts are not necessarily the same thing, as there are still "specialists" in UFC. Guys like Dan Severn, Mirko Cro Cop, and Royce Gracie were highly successful and regarded amongst the greatest fighters of their respective eras despite relying primarily on one martial art and utilizing little else.

But yeah. Enough rambling from me about MMA in a pro wrestling simulator. I think Bill hit the nail on the head - if an owner is chosen/created that "prefers mixed martial arts", then they WILL exclusively choose wrestlers that have shooting ticked. It IS NOT just for Pride FC as rumored in the Stats Update thread. So, I think some people owe Bill an apology for screwing up the data.

I still want to look into Hex editing (or something) the touring promotions so they can be updated.

  13. I remember someone used to be able to hex edit or modify the names of the Japanese touring promotions somehow. I can't remember exactly, but I'm fairly sure someone edited their names to fit a different game. So, I'm wondering if anyone would know how to do that here so you can change the names? IIRC, you could only edit the names to the same number of characters as the original names (For example, you couldn't change Pride FC to Shootfighting as it has more characters).

Just a thought... or the notepad thing might work, and it'd probably be easier to edit in case of changes.

  14. Boy, one sure does have to read through a lot of bullshit just to find updates/stat suggestions.

Posts like yours don't make it any easier.

Anyway, I saw someone earlier suggest raising Heyman's charisma to 100. While Paul is definitely one of the best on the mic, I don't think he deserves a 100, as sometimes his promos can be a bit off just like anyone else. I think he deserves the high 90s, like a 95-97, but 100 seems a bit much.

  15. In this example I'll substitute Pride FC for UFC since I think more people understand what UFC is, and Pride FC occupied the same status within Japan whilst it existed.

If you tick 'shooting' for a worker in EWR it means they become eligible to be signed to tour with Pride [read: the UFC] on a fight contract. On the current treatment of shooting, how realistic does this card look to you?

    UFC 167

    Location: Las Vegas

    Fight Card:

    Undercard

1.) 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Buff Bagwell

2.) New Jack vs. Dolph Ziggler

3.) Eric Bischoff vs. Jonathan Coachman

    Main Card:

4.) AJ Styles vs. Elix Skipper

5.) Hardcore Holly vs. James Storm

    7.) Randy Orton vs. RVD

8.) Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks (for the UFC Welterweight Championship)

UFC Heavyweight Championship - Cain vs JDS IV!

9.) Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos

    ------------------------

All of these guys currently have 'shooting' ticked, this would be the result in game, although replace some of the american workers with actual Pride guys mostly likely Japanese or actual american MMA fighters like Mark Coleman, or Kevin Randleman.

I don't think we'll be seeing The Stro or Tracy Smothers vs. Tito Ortiz at UFC 169.

I agree... that card IS clearly unrealistic. There's no chance in HELL JDS would fight Cain on the very next PPV after getting his ass kicked for the better part of 5 rounds and after Dana White said Cain's next challenger is Fabricio Werdum. :D

But in all seriousness, this "argument" (if you can even call it that... more like misunderstanding by the other people) reminds me of people who think higher selling means people "oversell" like how higher stiffness means people are "too stiff", even though the game clearly works with 100 selling being optimal selling. Just an example of a repeated misinterpretation/misconstruing of the in-game mechanics.

But yeah... only guys who would realistically compete for a UFC or Pride or Bellator type MMA promotion should have shooting ticked. Gotcha. What is Pride FC in the game now as far as a touring commitment? What promotion is it being used for? Sorry if this has been answered already.

  16. Add a friendship between Jim Cornette and Bobby Fulton

Add a friendship between Ric Flair and Kevin Greene

Add a friendship between Ric Flair and Steve McMichael

Add a friendship between Kevin Sullivan and Cactus Jack

Add a friendship between Kevin Sullivan and Sabu

Add a friendship between Kevin Sullivan and Arn Anderson

Add a friendship between Sabu and Ulf Herman

I would remove the love relationship between Steve and Debra McMichael, they divorced in 1998.

I thought that I had removed The Disciple/Meng dislike, my bad. It should be removed

    Add the following Tag Teams:

Brookside and Cannonball 3 exp (Robbie Brookside and Cannonball Grizzly)
Liverpool Lads 23 exp (Robbie Brookside and Doc Dean)

Add team Jericho and Freeze 10 exp (Chris Jericho and Eric Freeze) Inactive.
Here are a couple of Gambler matches, I was wondering if you could provide stats for him? If you can do so, add him to WCW, opener.

I think you did remove the Disciple/Meng relationship, but I put it back because I thought they hated each other based on a situation. What's your source?

Anyway, the Mongo/Debra thing is tricky. They were married as of Jan 1st, 1998, but I don't know exactly when they got divorced or when they stopped "loving" each other.

I put The Gambler in my latest release. Also, I'll have to add the rest of those workers. I've also got a backlog of lucha wrestlers to consider adding that were in AAA, CMLL, and Promo Azteca at the time.

  17. I'd like a second opinion on some of the relationships I think I've removed from the game but are still in Y2J's version, which has expanded on the relationships. Here are a few to start out with, and I'd just like to know if they should be included (keep in mind the game is January 1st, 1998):

    Cactus Jack/Rocky Maivia - Friendship
    Chris Benoit/Perry Saturn - Friendship
    Chris Jericho/Bret Hart - Friendship

    Meng/The Disciple - Dislike

    Honky Tonk/Billy Gunn - Dislike

    Debra/Steve McMichael - Love

Chris Benoit/Rey Mysterio Jr. - Friendship

    Cactus Jack/Billy Gunn - Friendship

    Cactus Jack/Bradshaw - Friendship

    Cactus Jack/Faarooq - Friendship

    Chris Jericho/Larry Zbyszko - Dislike
