If you think about it, Thwomps don't make any sense.

A new theory: a Thwomp's bottom part is not covered in spikes, but a series of highly specialized ganglia. Upon stomping on prey, the ganglia wrap around the prey and bring it to the creature's mouth so it can feed. Its preferred diet includes nuts, berries, and plumbers.
