  1. There were other really good Digital Shorts that he had nothing to do with, though.
  2. Both. She's the star and main writer on it. As for the show, it seemed like they were headed for a radical change. Too bad the big problem with this is that Seth Meyers is still head writer after last season. The writing staff is really what needed shaking up and it appears there isn't much that did get shaken up after all. In fairness, under Meyers SNL has seen the debut of the Digital Shorts, the best thing about the show since the Will Ferrell days. The only problem is the rest of the show. >_> Exactly. And since they messed up one of the key short players, where does that leave the show now? Eh. They've still got Andy Samberg and the Lonely Island guys, and Will Forte. It's not the end of the world that Parnell's gone since he was only REALLY relevant in Lazy Sunday.
  3. Yeah, he's mostly dropped off the face of the earth, except for his guest spot on The Office last season where he was pretty funny. It's unfortunate, because I always liked him as a character actor. Yeah. Now I wished that The Ladies Man had actually taken off at the box office, though, I suppose it didn't have much chance once Superstar and Night at the Roxbury underwhelmed. I don't mind so much because I didn't really care for The Ladies Man as a character anyway. Now Perspectives, on the other hand, that was pretty great.

  5. The following is a list of people who have been on SNL who are funnier than Horatio Sanz, off the top of my head in no discernable order; John Belushi, Kevin Nealon, Dana Carvey, Chris Rock, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Laraine Newman, Jane Curtin, Dan Aykroyd, Garrett Morris, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman, David Spade, Chris Parnell, Darrell Hammond, Seth Meyers, Tracy Morgan, Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrell, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Billy Crystal, Martin Short, Nora Dunn, Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller, Julia Sweeney, Tina Fey, Norm MacDonald, Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer, Jeff Richards, Tim Meadows, Kenan Thompson, Ben Stiller, Damon Wayans, and Gilda Radner. And god knows I'm probably forgetting a LOT of people.
  6. At least they're not in the Top Five this year.
  7. Which is hilarious because In Utero is probably better than Nevermind as a whole, even if the singles are inferior and there are some really terrible songs here and there ("Scentless Apprentice," "Milk It"). I don't think Nirvana would have the lasting power that Pearl Jam has, even if I think that their music as a whole would have been infinitely superior. Cobain was in the process of making his music less accessable to the public, if In Utero is any indication.
  8. Eh. It could be worse. Losing Parnell is unfortunate and kind of insane given that he finally had a breakout year, but at the same time, Horatio Sanz is gone and that just puts a smile on my face.
  9. When I get a new album I always listen to it start to finish before adding it to my playlist. It's the only way, to me, to get a true sense of the album and how good it is as a whole. Also, I listen to albums start to finish on my iPod all the time, usually at least one per day.
  10. 1. The Beatles 2. The Pillows - #26 3. Blur - #21 4. The Ramones 5. Gorillaz - #100 6. Miles Davis 7. Nirvana - #17 8. The White Stripes - #36 9. Jurassic 5 10. Johnny Cash - #49 There's no way that the Fabs won't be somewhere in the top eight, so I'm going to end up with seven out of ten on the list, and I wasn't expecting Miles Davis or Jurassic 5 to chart anyway. So this all works out. The Ramones not charting is still criminal, though.
  11. Rasputina - A Radical Recital - 8/10 The White Stripes - De Stjil - 9/10
  12. Studio 60 - 8/10 And I'm watching Smith in ten minutes.
  13. As far as Brawl goes? As long as I can still work on perfecting Gratuitous Bowser Style, I'm good.
  14. I need to listen to the Foo Fighters' albums start to finish so I can make a proper decision on that stuff. Well, except for In Your Honor which was fantastically dull except for like five songs.
  15. That was great. God, this is going to be a good season for TV.
  16. Then what is Tina Fey's show about? Same thing Ain't NBC great?
  17. Agreed, but Lithium > Come As You Are.
  18. Agree to disagree indeed. I think that Nirvana was a hit-or-miss band, but when they hit, they really hit, in a way that none of the other bands could. For me, at least. I'm especially fond of "In Bloom" because it was one of the cleverest singles in the 90s; a catchy song that was easy to sing along to that's about morons who show up at concerts and sing along to songs with absolutely no clue as to the actual meaning of the song. And I also think that "About a Girl" is miles above anything the other three bands who are generally thought of when it comes to the grunge explosion ever released (except for maybe "Do the Evolution" by Pearl Jam). And for me the best band ever is The Beatles for sheer range, adaptability, and songwriting skill, but I'm betting on another finish somewhere between #7 and #4 for them this year.
  19. I've yet to hear a song by them that actually retains my interest for the entirety of the song's duration, actually. Which is funny because they're the band that people generally point to as being the best band of the grunge movement if not Nirvana and I like them the least.
  20. Coheed, Nirvana, and TMV I'll give ya. But you back off Tool before I Tool your face! I'm not sure exactly how wanky Tool is in comparison to Coheed and TMV. That would take a degree in science to determine. But they're totally worse than Nirvana in that respect because Nirvana is also so widely considered to be overrated that they, in turn, actually become a bit underrated because of it. I definitely think Nirvana have become under-rated to some extent....I think it is pretty sad actually, as they seem, at times, to be hated just because people can. Sure, they weren't the greatest or most talented band, but they were good, and I don't think the top 30 or so would be complete without them (and I didn't even vote for them, I don't think....) What's happening to Nirvana now is simply that when they were popular, they were massively overrated by everyone. Even I will admit to having been a fan back in the mid 90s, but I grew out of it and into other things. And the fact of the matter is this, Nirvana's maintained popularity through the new millenium is strictly because of Cobain's suicide. They weren't THAT good. There were a handful of other Grunge bands who could easily have led the movement, and were much better than Nirvana. It's just what goes around, comes around, right? You get massively overrated and masturbated by everyone and their mother, and in time, everyone and their mother is going to hate you for having been given such treatment when there were other, far more superior, artists who were shoved to the backburner. I disagree entirely. Neither Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, nor Soundgarden released any song as anthemic as "Smells Like Teen Spirit." I don't even like that song, but it is amazingly anthemic and instantly recognizable. But I also think that Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains were all supremely bland, so that could just be bias.

  22. That would be highly hypocritical of me due to my Pillows bias. No, they're all just bands that tend to be massively overrated by their fans, and massively despised by their detractors (and I will outright say that I'm totally guilty of the latter in Coheed's case). Hence, Fanboy Wank.
  23. I like how you left Pink Floyd out of that list. Oh. Whoops. I was going off the top of my head. And Audioslave fucking sucks.
  24. Coheed, Tool, Nirvana, the Mars Volta. This is the Fanboy Wank Ten.
