  1. ... why? Seriously. What's next, the triumphant return of Street Sharks?
  2. No, the real irony is that the comic book that pretty much made Stan Lee the legend he is now starred superheroes with public identities (the Fantastic Four). Unfortunately, nobody was clever enough to bring this up and clearly they're going for superhero cliches ra It really sucks that Tyveculus is gone. He fucked up big (come on, after the first two volunteered themselves to go it was just stupid not to do the same), but now we've got Fat Momma being a total drama queen. The Dark Enforcer is awesome, though.
  3. The presence of both 3 Doors Down and Stone Sour is unfortunate, but aside from that I have no qualms.
  4. Yeah, so I made this mix for a friend of mine who was going through a rough patch and just wanted some music to listen to whilst she was on the road somewhere. So I just sort of threw together some tracks I love in a sequence that made it flow rather well, and here you are. And I have the tracklisting because I save all my tracklistings because I am a dork like that; 1. Electric President – Insomnia 2. The Beatles – Things We Said Today 3. The Velvet Underground – Sunday Morning 4. Seu Jorge – Starman 5. Harvey Danger – Little Round Mirrors 6. Mirah – Sweepstakes Prize 7. Cowboy Bebop – Flying Teapot 8. John Cale – Hallelujah 9. The Pillows – Tiny Boat 10. Hum – Stars 11. Regina Spektor – Us 12. Miles Davis – Blue in Green 13. Weezer – December 14. Stereo Total – Morose 15. The Pixies – Wave of Mutilation 16. They Might Be Giants – Twisting 17. Sigur Ros - Staralfur
  5. "King of Silence" by Cibo Matto.
  6. Um. No. They finished VERY high on EWB's Favorite Song (which... I should probably post the results for or I could send them to Ollie like I was wanting to but he never replies to my MSN messages), so their finishing in the 80's was a bit of a shock. But then again, SDM is still off being a carnie or whatever so I guess that's that. Creed anywhere is fucking appalling, though.
  7. Good to see Sinatra and that's a good spot for Weezer. Pantera's inclusion is nifty too, as is the inclusion of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. I'd have to actually have listened to like most of the rest of those bands there to have an opinion there.
  8. So really, Jook, take all the time you want.
  9. My voting process was like "Oh, is Guitar Hero not in this category? Then I'll vote for Mario Kart DS." Because they were nominated for like nearly everything.
  10. Is it THAT important for us to see the list? It's a matter of life and death.
  11. Oh god. Perhaps if the recording quality were better and the beats didn't sound like they were done on GarageBand in ten minutes this wouldn't suck, but I couldn't listen to more than thirty seconds of the first song before I closed the window.
  12. Iron Enforcer does have a very 90's look but aside from Major Victory he's the most entertaining when it comes to confessionals, so I'm glad he's still around.
  13. Fat Momma needs to go next. I mean, really now, what the hell. Monkey Girl continually doing that laugh is annoying but shit, she deserves props for that challenge with the dogs so she should at least last longer than Fat Momma.
  14. Wow, this show is hysterical. So much crack. My favorite is totally Major Victory, who just wins at one-liners.
  15. Oh, CSAMH better not read this 'cause he's killed people for less. EDIT: And for the record, I don't really care for Aphex Twin at all, nor do I care for the video. But Hamster will still kill you.
  16. Ow ow ow ow ow. To summarize; ow.
  17. I may think Death Cab are supremely overrated (I loved The Photo Album and then everything else sounded blase afterwards, either because that was the best album they ever recorded or because that was the first Death Cab album I had ever heard. "A Movie Script Ending" is still a legitimately great song no matter what, though), but guh, compared to the Offspring they're fucking Led Zeppelin. Now, The Ramones not making it in, THERE is an injustice.
  18. Oh get off your fucking high horse. It's a Top 100 bands list. If it wasn't, it would be called, "The Top 100 Underrated/Unknown Bands List." And in my world, or anyone else's, Depeche Mode ranks above some band that multiple posters have replied with "who?" Haven't we already had this argument before in the voting thread?
  19. But "they're a bad band and the Stones are a good band" is not an excuse for an act of douchebaggery like forcing your opener to pay if they want to see you live when you are touring together. Which is really the point, isn't it?
  20. The last time I saw concert footage of the Stones it was their huge Brazilian concert. There's nothing like seeing Get Off of My Cloud played at about 60% the speed of how the actual song was recorded.
  21. If it were not for that moment, I would have written this show off completely. After that, I caught "Guess Hoe's Coming To Dinner", which has an ending that sums the show up perfectly. As a comedy, the show is hit-and-miss, with the good moments usually being damn funny. Where the show really shines is the only-slightly-over-the-top reality of it. I can agree with that. And with "Guess Hoe's Coming to Dinner," I didn't find the episode itself to be funny at all (except for whats-her-face playing video games with Riley), but I loved how they played Granddad's reaction to learning that she was a prostitute, with her bemusedly sincere "thank you for trying to 'save' me" line in response having an absolutely perfect delivery. And I will give Regina King, an actress who I'm not the biggest fan of outside of her performance in Ray, all the credit in the world for getting Riley's voice down immediately and really growing into Huey's voice as the season progressed to the point where it was practically exactly how I always imagined it. I'd say the two episodes that really got the humor dead-on perfect were "Granddad's Fight" and "Let's Nab Oprah." Aside from those, it's the more serious moments that really make the show for me, be it the music sequence from "The Passion of Ruckus" or Huey's monologue about Christmas miracles in "A Huey Freeman Christmas" that really make the show something special and for me the highlight of Adult Swim (though Dethklok is now a strong second).
  22. The American ones get like exponentially better after that point, actually. Like, from the sexual harrassment training episode on. Anyway. As far as the cast goes, David Brent and Michael Scott are practically entirely different characters to me at this point who just share a common archetype. They definitely made Michael much more sympathetic, but I think they did it effectively. I like David Brent more, though, if forced to choose. Jim/Tim is another one where the characters are mostly the same in role more than character. Tim is far superior in the role that it's supposed to be, if that makes any sense, so I prefer him to Jim, but John Krasinski plays the straight man role brilliantly either way. For Dawn versus Pam? Pam by like ten thousand miles. She just... I don't know, does more with the role, it feels like. She's just sort of funnier and she does the serious stuff better. Gareth vs. Dwight, oh god. Both brilliant characters, but I think I still enjoy Gareth more. Like, I think Dwight is funnier in a way, but Gareth is the better character. Plus Mackenzie Cook is a better actor than Rainn Wilson, in my opinion. I honestly think that the American version has the superior supporting cast than the British version, though. Mostly because it has a real supporting cast. Like, Kevin is given more to do in the American version than Keith got to do in the British, and there's nobody in the original as far as minor characters goes who could hope to even touch the brilliance that is Creed. Plus Angela, Stanley, and Toby are all fucking hysterical as well. Chris Finch owns Todd Packer, though.
  23. Gorillaz's massive drop is unsurprising since it'll probably be years before Albarn and Hewlett decide to release something new there. Glad they're still there, though. I haven't heard of some of these bands, but hey, at least "who?" is better than "oh god, not them." And Death Cab in #100 - #90 is a good spot for them.
  24. They've never been on the list. It's criminal.
