  1. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I hate being a Lions fan sometimes... Mostly during football season. Interestingly, his career may be derailed by this injury before it gets off the ground. I don't know much about sports injuries, but I can't imagine this wouldn't be something that would have a lingering effect on a running back. But then, what do I know?
  2. Hey thanks. Appreciate it. In Universe mode, i'm not sure I get the ranking system...to even get a CAW into the World/WWE title rankings takes a while, but what's weird is that a victory over the next guy above you doesn't seem to move you up any, which is that way I assumed it would work. I'm not sure how it actually works. But by really trying, the best I was able to do was get into the U.S. title scene by the third ppv, and 5th in the World Championship rankings (Switched to Smackdown.) by the Royal Rumble of the 2nd year. That's playing every booked match for my CAW, and occasionally booking some of my own. Luckily, it seems you can play anyone in the Royal Rumble (and pick the entry order) and they will face the champ at Wrestlemania if you win, so if you really want to face the champ as a CAW that's probably the way to go. Another thing I find a little odd is that being the champion doesn't keep you high up in the rankings for that belt if you weren't #1 contender before. For example, Bourne won the WWE Title by cashing in MiTB, and after retaining it for 3 months, lost to Triple H. Instead of being the #1 contender, he dropped to 10th in the rankings, which is where he was before he won it. Oh well. It's still a cool system and game. Oh...also...has anyone figured out how to get created finishers on CAWs? It isn't the way it was in previous games I don't think. EDIT- Nevermind..I'm an idiot. I just missed it in the create-a-moveset editor. I see it now.
  3. Can you drag your opponent while they're on the ground? I haven't figured out how to do this yet, if it's still possible...
  4. It was at first, the official closest to the catch ruled a TD. Then another official came over and overturned the call. It went up to the booth and the rule on the field stood. I just don't get how it wasn't a TD, he had absolute possesion, then put the ball down as he was trying to get up. I mean shit, if a RB breaks the plane of the endzone, then fumbles it, it's a TD. It's just some absurd rule about the "process of the catch". Over an hour later, and I'm STILL PISSED about this play. That combined with Stafford's injury just leaves a bad taste in my mouth when thinking about football today. Can't shake the negative feeling
  5. Usually Male, but in RPGs or games where gender has some effect on dialog and the like (especially Bioware games), I usually play through the second time with a female character. I heard in one of the early previews of Fable 3 they were talking about letting you have children with your xbox live friends' characters of the opposite gender. For those of you who play female characters, will you be making babies with your friends? Or is that weird?
  6. Even better...do what I did. Ship off the 360....buy a ps3 to hold you over in the meantime...and when it comes back you'll have both! Or if you're not that into video games...yeah just ship it back With mine, it's not an elite, but it was freezing up within the first month after I bought it on rare occasion....Then after about 8 months it started to occasionally have a red ring when I turned it on...turning it off and ejecting the disk would fix it. Then after about 5 months of that, it got the fatal red ring and I had to send it back. I had the new one in just under three weeks and haven't had a problem since, not even any freezing and that was over a year ago. If you can't send it back...what to buy depends a bit on what games/peripherals you already have and what your friends play on. No point in just having a ps3 if you already have a ton of stuff for your xbox360. Personally, as much as I like my ps3, which I do...it's a great system...I actually like my xbox a little better
  7. Been playin for a fortn..er...no..for a few hours....having a blast...I am maybe only 10 missions or so in or less...but having a blast so far. Earned the Dastardly achievement without knowing of it at all...just messin around. So far unlocked maybe 5 outfits...did quite a few bounties...killed random people....just having fun
  8. Been waiting for someone to make a topic about this game. Thought about doing it myself but figured if I waited long enough someone less lazy would do it. Anyways....anticipating this game like crazy since december (2nd trailer release)...looks ten shades of awesome....I doubt the game will live up to my expectations...no way it could but hopefully it will come close. Question is....preorder for ps3 or 360?? Don't think any of my friends on either system are buying (my friends clearly have shitty taste). Hmm...
  9. My first thought about this is that hot girls usually suck at video games! Id rather play with the guys.... And no I'm not gay. Just never getting laid I guess. On the other hand....video games during sex....the only thing that might be better is if I could also be eating a sandwich and/or drinkin a cold one.
  10. After playing the NHL 10 demo, I'm probably going to purchase the game. Not really super different from NHL 09, but still awesome and still a lot of fun. Only playing the third period of the games was enough to convince me that it's still a blast. I don't think the board play is as good or fleshed out as it could be, and the game still doesn't quite play like real hockey, but it's the closest I've seen in a video game. Granted I haven't played the 2k series at all on this console (2k4 was awesome on ps2 though ) but anyways. In my time with BAP, it seemed like the computer played better defense than before. While I was still able to get behind the defense and call for the pass a couple times, the defense also seemed to be better suited to intercept passes, and on one breakaway, I was shocked to have the computer defender dive and poke the puck away from me. I played with hardcore mode on, and really didn't notice much of a difference, but then I wasn't passing a ton. Probably would have noticed more if I used it for the road to stanley cup (or whatever it's called) mode, but I didn't see it in the options so I didn't turn it on. Played as the Red Wings (Go Wings!) in that mode, and really enjoyed myself. In a omg-i-wish-that-happened moment, Marian Hossa scored the game tying and winning goal for me, but only a desperation save by Osgood on a perfectly timed pass to Malkin right next to the net with time running out saved the game. Good fun. Board play is easy enough to use, I thought it might accidentally interpret the y pressing as wanting to start a fight, but it doesn't seem to, and it's intuitive and easy enough to do, although you probably won't much because it's more fun to go for the big hit. Only played one time in each mode so far, but it seems to be a very good and tightly controlled game, just like 09 was. Definitely buying when it comes out.
  11. I'd like to play if you guys don't mind. I have weird hours though because I work 3-midnight every day including weekends (EST), But I'd like to take the Vikings. With Brett Favre riding the pine. Gamertag: DigitalDeadmeat
  12. I, on the other hand, would love to see Pittsburgh/Detroit II. People here (in Pittsburgh) already look at me with great disgust when I tell them I'm a Red Wings fan (Hey, I'm from Michigan, what do you expect?), but if the Wings beat them again, I just may be even more unpopular at work. I would enjoy Detroit winning another cup no matter who they play, but I could also get behind a Chicago/Pittsbugh finals (Just like old times!), but I also can't wait for Detroit/Chicago. It's gonna have an old school feel, even with the youth of Chicago. I am just glad we didn't lose to Anaheim again. If we lose to Chicago, I won't be happy, but I could live with it. I couldn't live down losing to Anaheim again.
  13. Ah good ole MLB The Show. The only series not called Metal Gear Solid that I miss now that I've transitioned from Sony to MIcrosoft (PS2 to 360). Right now I'm playing WoW, as I just started it. Yeah, I waited a long time, but I just finally have the time, and desire to actually spend my time playing a MMO. Also still playing NHL 09 a ton. With the hockey playoffs, I've just been in the hockey mood. I guess that's basically all I've been playing. It's a damn slow time for games. I've played Spore a little recently too. I'm one of the few who enjoyed it. I admit it's shortcomings, but I take it more for an engine for creativity and less as a game. As a game it's meh. I keep trying to create races of aliens and play to certain personalities, and design all their buildings etc around that personality. I acquired Empire: Total War a while back, and haven't even started playing it. I might have to get back to that at some point.
  14. I hope the Wings can pull at least one of the next two against Anaheim, but the Ducks are tough as Hell. Big guys. They do a good job of playing the body while not allowing the puck to get past them. A lot of the Detroit fans on the HFboards say shit like: "Well Anaheim isn't so tough, the Wings aren't even playing that well and they're playing as good as the Ducks." That shit cracks me up. No hockey fans can just give credit to the other team. And I'd like to believe that's true, but I just don't think it is. I believe Detroit hasn't looked like themselves because Anaheim has played them tough and smothered them. Make no mistake about it, Anaheim is better than their #8 seed indicates (I knew that before the playoffs, before I had even heard of Hiller) . I honestly think whoever wins the Detroit/Anaheim series will win the West. Now I may be biased on that, and to be perfectly fair, I haven't seen Vancouver (or Chicago for that matter) play much. I will say, I would like (not love, because my team would be out ) to see a Chicago/Pittsburgh finals. Not only for the history, but because it would feature some great young talent, but it doesn't look like that's incredibly likely at this point (though it's too early to say for sure.) Oh, and the Capitals' goalie makes some amazing saves. Someone will probably argue it's because he's out of position or something, but man, he made some incrediblly acrobatic saves in the first two games. Hiller seems to be pretty damn good too actually. I so hope the Wings can win tonight and take back the lead in the series. It worries me that Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Hossa have done precisely dick in the series so far though.
  15. I heard people saying the same thing last year. People have short memories I guess I'm pretty sure it's just wishful thinking actually
  16. The Ducks are a team I didn't want to face in the first round. I was rooting for St. Louis to win their last game, and Anaheim to lose so that Anaheim would be the 8th seed and not the 7th. They're a physical team that can score and are better than their record indicates. That being said, I have a little more confidence now. The Red Wings play with far more energy than the Sharks showed (Were they even trying?!), and I'd like to see how good Hiller plays when with Holmstrom/Franzen in his face. My guess is not as well as he has been playing. On top of that, one of my close friends is a Shark fan, and I feel for him. I also really really hate the Ducks. I hope the Wings destroy them. I think the Wings are fully capable of doing so. It just depends whether they can keep professional and not let the Ducks' goonery knock them off their game, and whether Osgood and stay in Playoff form or whether he reverts back to regular season 08/09 form (in which case the Wings are screwed). Should be a fun series, but hopefully the Wings can put the Ducks in an early hole. If they let the Ducks take either of the first two games, they're gonna struggle. Either way, in my mind, whichever team wins this series will go to the finals. No offense to Vancouver and Chicago.
  17. It's fun, but not the sort of game I would probably buy(even though I loved the first one enough to buy it). Worth a rental though if you can get it. It's the kind of thing that's fun for a few hours and then probably never again after that. I'm only about halfway through the second area though, so maybe the game gets better. And being able to totally customize your crew is neat. As is the idea that you can off them in any way that you see fit if they don't live up to your standards. (You mark them for death in your family screen and they become attackable, allowing you to choose how they die or execute them yourself). That was a fantastic idea actually. It's not easy working for a mafia boss. The game has it's inspired concepts though. The first action game that I've actually played that makes you feel like you're in charge of the crime empire rather than (for example) GTA:VC where you were the boss but basically did everything yourself. Here you can send henchmen to do your dirty work, although they're far less effective than you are alone. Graphics aren't great and the AI is a bit weird. But it's still fun for a short stay. I imagine the gameplay wears thin after a short time but I could be wrong. I'm not that far into the game yet.
  18. Too ambitious, I'm afraid. That kind of thing always comes out badly. That said, I -loved- The Godfather game. I mean everything except the driving. Hand-to-hand combat system was fun, especially since enemies would often engage you hand-to-hand if you put your gun away. Mostly what I loved was the feel of the guns though. I can't explain it exactly, but the gunplay had just the right feel in my opinion.
  19. Computer generates decent starting players all the time...at least in so much as you can get them to 80-85ish at least. The funny thing is the announcers always call generated players by the wrong name. Some long russian name beginning with T becomes "Baines", etc. Had a guy named Manny Marrow that the announcer called Tkachuk.
  20. I think I like it actually. I mean I played an exhibition game with Pittsburgh (against randomly selected L.A.) and had a ton of penalties in the first period and half, but only one by the AI. After forcing myself to be more disciplined, I was able to cut that down to one penalty for the rest of the game (an interference call I got because I forgot myself for a moment). I found that hitting was more satisfying when I had to make sure it was a clean hit. At least it was to me. I had quite a few big hits too. It's basically more sim style on the default settings now. The biggest adjustment is when the opponent is about to ice the puck, I cant slam them in the back to stop them from doing it anymore.
  21. Haven't played much since the patch, but I've heard that two big things the patch added was much stricter interference calls (hit anyone who doesn't have the puck and isn't immediately in front of your goalie and you'll always get a whistle no matter how weak the hit) and high sticking calls for using stick left from behind the puck carrier. Seeing as I loved interfering like crazy against the computer, and pretty much the only time I used the stick lift was when chasing the puck carrier, it's going to take a lot of discipline for me.
  22. So I guess the Lions took a look at the GM candidates out there and decided...you know what? To hell with it...let's just promote from within! So they promoted Martin Mayhew (Millen's assistant GM) to GM, and Tom Lewand (Chief Operating Officer) to Team President. Yay for more of the same! Here's to back-to-back 0-16 seasons! Maybe we can promote Jim Colletto to head coach! Afterall, whoever they get is just throwing his career away anyways
  23. Ah yes...Red Faction 2. Not really a military/realistic shooter....but still pretty good as far as FPS on the PS2 goes. FPS is hard to come by on the PS2 as well. For some reason they just didn't make many of them. I enjoyed Red Faction II with my friends though. I dont' remember there being a Co-Op mode....but maybe there was...I haven't played it in years.
  24. Strangely...a game that I found fun as Co-op (I suggest maybe a rental because it's not really worth owning necessarily) was Conflict: Desert Storm (Actually I'd go with Conflict Desert Storm 2)...now it's actually a pretty piss-poor game in the grand theme of things...it sucks horribly on single player...but co-op is a lot of fun for a little while. My brother and I would play it....tanks are absolutely devastating on it...I remember one time we ran into a tank and didn't have an anti-tank rocket....so I gave him my detonator, and he threw out smoke as I ran towards the tank....I got to it, killed the machine gunner, and then planted c4 on it. He then detonated the c4 with my detonator, killing the tank and me. Then he ran in and revived me (two players...you have to reach a dead player within 2 minutes to revive them or it's game over). I dunno...that just struck me as a fun ps2 game for multiplayer. I know the SOCOM series was popular in some circles for online multiplayer...there's no split screen multi though... Other than that...there's not a ton of options for cooperative military shooters on ps2. I was always on the lookout for a good co-op multiplayer game on the ps2, and i rarely found any at all...in any genre. Generally not a lot of thought or effort was put into multiplayer modes....at least that's how it seemed to me.
  25. Actually staying evil doesn't necessarily require you to do the quests the evil way everytime. Because you lose so much karma from stealing shit and killing people (I'm a bit of a klepto in the game...I didn't realize you could tell the value of everything before stealing when I first started so I grabbed everything in the vault figuring that people outside would need these things) that it more than makes up for doing things the good way. I imagine though that some quests give you more karma than others...I did a certain quest the good way (not sure which one...but I remember checking my karma afterwards) that raised me from Very evil to just Evil....which was upsetting...but in no time at all I was back to very evil.
