  1. Leave it to Florida to have a goalie colored jersey the favored color for the entire away kit. Also, while Hartford lost 1-0 last night - it feels like they're not too far off from competing with the better teams in the East.
  2. The Phillies have had a trash bullpen for a while now though, that's not necessarily on Girardi.
  3. Overheard from the PA last night: Yellow card issued to Tampa (three second gap) Bay, number...
  4. Garrett "Spinrate" Richards gave up 6 runs (4 earned) in 4 IP. Going to assume he was using something on the balls.
  5. I hope that the Sox pitchers are not using the foreign substances beyond acceptable limits. Boston's pitching was wretched last year, so it doesn't surprise me they're giving up tons of runs to power lineups like Toronto and Houston. Now if they give up 10 runs a game to the Royals, that's cause for concern.
  6. The Red Sox been slumping a good amount. Outside of that sweet of the Yankees in NY, they lost 5 of 7 to Houston and then gave up a million HR to Toronto this weekend. I went to the game yesterday, which was nice except for the losing. Better then than today, since they lost 18-4.
  7. So far, I only have tickets for Bonnaroo and to a Genesis show in December. There's a few others I have on the maybe list.
  8. I get that Bruce was upset with the officiating, but he really set himself up for the heckling with the Saints comment. Also, seems like every game in that series was ridiculously loud at Nassau. It's seriously time for Rask to leave Boston. He never seems to be reliable and tends to collapse (or bail) once the playoffs begin. He shouldn't have played in game 5 or 6 - got pulled later than he should have in 5, and never was in 6. I know Swayman is young and doesn't have playoff experience, but give the kid a chance. It's just baffling why the Bruins feel so loyal to Rask, when he's not feeling the same way about this team. Just during that entire Isles series, it was so frustrating. Only the first line could do anything productive. Taylor Hall didn't do much. The defense was banged up, which allowed the Isles to neutralize McAvoy and put everything on Rask. This offseason, they really need to let Rask and Krejci walk. Let Swayman be the #1 goalie and use some of the money to help McAvoy on defense. Build some resemblance of a productive 3rd and 4th line, since outside of Charlie Coyle who knows what's there.
  9. Brandon Workman is back with Boston Back in August, he was traded to Philly in the Pivetta deal. Then went to the Cubs in FA, before getting dropped. Then he went to Worcester and exercised his opt out clause. So Boston got Pivetta and Seabold for a month of Heath Hembree and Workman both pitching poorly.
  10. Update: Gray had another poor sim. He's in the final year of his contract, so I DFA'ed him. Battle is now platooning with Holder. My fourth OF is also slumping, so I DFA'ed him as well and called up the prospect to full his role.
  11. My current 1B dilemma: Starting 1B - Jim Gray: Gold Glover, third on team in HR, hitting around .200 with negative WAR. Other options - Mitch Battle: often injured 2B/DH, can't hit lefties Mike Holder: best described as a AAAA player, has some power Dan Lawson: currently my starting CF. Can move to 1B and call up a CF prospect close to ready
  12. The three true outcomes are ruining baseball in America.
  13. The Tigers' Spencer Turnbull has thrown a no hitter against Seattle. It's the second no hitter against Seattle in the last two weeks
  14. Since Seager got hurt last night, the signing was good timing on their end. Can slide Muncy over to 3B for a bit, let Pujols play 1B.
  15. IIRC, real in Spanish translates to royal in English Their USL B-side is called Real Monarchs, which seems like a unnecessary double reference
  16. Mark Canha was leaning in on an inside pitch, seemingly trying to get plunked. Unsuccessfully tried to argue it. Two pitches later, Garrett Richards threw one at Canha's head. What Canha did is stupid, but what Richards did is not ok.
  17. Half the league is just trying to mash home runs every at bat. Strikeouts are way up when they can't make contact. The nerds are pushing launch angles. It's like nobody is content with a single anymore, just get on base and string a run together.
  18. That's the third no-hitter already this year. Four if you count MadBum's seven inning one.
  19. Yes And good for Means. The O's need to build around someone, and he's become an ace for them.
  20. I would assume Trenton's stadium is nowhere near MLB regulations, where Buffalo is a lot more so. Also, Buffalo being closer to Toronto probably helps. Interestingly, the Buffalo Bisons will be called that on the road - but called the Trenton Thunder (name of a former AA team) for home games.
  21. The Blue Jays are going to Buffalo again, starting June 1st. Meanwhile the Buffalo AAA team is playing home games in Trenton, NJ as long as the Jays are in Buffalo.
  22. I like Jermar Jefferson, has potential to be a good value pick
  23. Starting off in a positive direction They're at Miami next weekend
