  1. Definitely get yourself some C A Quintet, a very early beginning to the psychedelic era of rock, but with emphasis on oddball music. It's very good music in general, with a good emphasis on organs, and incorporates a variety of sound effects. It can definitely set the mood for a strange journey, it might almost make your experience feel like a movie, with this as the soundtrack. Look for the album "Trip Thru Hell", brilliant album. Seriously, I'm listening to this now, you fucking need this. Iron Butterfly's Ina Gadda Da Vida is probably one of the more cliche answers, but it's a great song none the less. I think it's considered to be the epitome of psychedelic rock, and is often featured to accompany drug induced experiences in movies and television. If you want some synth sort of music, give Dark Day a try. There isn't much detail to go into other than it's very dark, and brooding synth music, but could set a nice mood for a fucked up night. Geza-X is pretty fucking off the wall stuff. It's sort of punky, but with synthed guitars, goofy vocals, and involves an assortment of zany sounds and lyrics. It's actually a lot of fun, and very enjoyable music, but is probably a very good choice for your party. And honestly, regular music itself can be pretty god damn mind blowing in it's own right with the right drug.
  2. Lions fans FTW. Oh, and how about Christian Okoye? Yeah, I'm a die hard Lions fan, much to my own dismay (not really). I've been supporting them for years now, and they've always been my number one team in Detroit despite some very good Pistons, Wings, and now Tigers teams. They are loveable losers, and hopefully will the corner. Beyond that, everybody else is our enemy. Especially the NFC North. Though I guess I have a soft spot for the Bengals for some odd reason. Maybe it was the years of futility?
  3. The decline of arcade's is a bummer to me honestly. I always enjoyed a trip to an arcade, ya know the real basic kind that has just video games, none of the grandeur of what's being offered in a Dave and Busters or Gameworks. They always had a nice little appeal, and it was fun deciding which game to play and in which order. Kid stuff ya know. Actually, it's funny you mention Golden Tee, Zero. I was thinking about that when I was typing about the decline in arcade's. As I typed that I thought "The most popular arcade game I can think of right now is a fucking golf game of all things." But seriously, it's in almost every sports bar that I can think of. Hell, I've seen the fucking thing in shit holes, and there's always a good amount of people rotating in and out of it.
  4. It's true about Detroit sitting on a gold mine, but even if they keep the pick and grab Joe Thomas, I wont be too concerned. Marinelli has pretty close to free reign, and he really wants to build the defense, and offensive line. He's happy with our QB situation, so Quinn wont be the pick despite the mock drafts. But as I said, there are a few teams that would love to move up and get Quinn, Johnson, Thomas, or Peterson, so there's quite a few different trade options available. Even if Cleveland isn't the team, it could be Arizona for Thomas or somebody behind them wanting the WR or RB.
  5. Probably because arcades are dead. They haven't had an arcade game since 2000's atrocious Royal Rumble game that you can find on the Dreamcast if you'd ever want to play that pile of shit. It's so harsh, but it's so true. :lmao: I actually was thinking about making a topic, asking about the current popularity of arcades. I haven't been to one in years, and haven't really heard much rage over them in the same time span. Do any of you guys still go to them ever? Is the declining popularity due to advancement of the consoles for home, and obviously the price of playing games in an arcade? It's weird that they seemingly fell off the map, when they were once a fairly attractive place to go for birthday parties, or just for general amusement.
  6. Agreed with Zero on the Wrestlefest motion. That game was too much fun, and makes me wonder why WWE hasn't released a proper arcade game in years. I don't really have access to getting my X-Box online, but I'd love to get it set up with all of these cool arcade games being released. Edit - And how about Final Fucking Fight on the Arcade? Screw the SNES version, give me that bad ass arcade version.
  7. So the Lions are in a good spot to make a trade on draft day. Apparently the Cleveland Browns owner is pushing hard for them to take a QB, by any means necessary. If Oakland takes Russel, and the Lions keep up with the Quinn smoke signals, they may just be able to trade with Cleveland. It seems that Detroit is sitting in a great spot with the number two pick (funny how they were criticized for winning the last game and blowing the number 1 pick) with a barrage of calls coming in for the pick. Teams are looking at Calvin Johnson, Joe Thomas, and Brady Quinn as potential players to trade up for. The Lions are looking to stockpile picks, and hopefully pick up Gaines Adams, or move back further and go with a Patrick Willis or Laron Landry. Either way, this is the most excited I've been for a draft since 04, the year we fleeced Cleveland and managed to pick up Roy Williams and Kevin Jones. Should be a fun weekend.
  8. Stuff similar to the Dwarves? Which album? Not all of their albums are that similar, but if you're going the Blood, Guts, and Pussy route then you're looking for hardcore punk. Of course, if you look at an album from them like Horror Stories, then you're looking at a complete tribute to 60s garage and psychedelic. Anyway, if you like the Dwarves you might want to give the Mentors, the Child Molesters, Fear, Personality Crisis, and Raw Power. Now, these bands aren't exactly sounding like the Dwarves, but I figure you'll find some appreciation for them if you enjoy the Dwarves. I don't want to become redundant and rattle off every hardcore or scum rock band I know of, so I think these would make a nice starting point. Bronx style punk? Are you talking about stuff like Agnostic Front and Sick of It All? I've never heard that terminology used, but if you want to look into other regions of New York then look at Kraut, Reagan Youth, Even Worse, Heart Attack, Mob, and even the Beastie Boys. Those were all fairly prominent punk bands in the NY area in the early 80s, and you might find something you like mixed in with those groups.
  9. Don't edit it, you made a pretty good point. It's just that when I hear "old punkers" or "old school punk" tossed out in some sort of form, I'm always compelled to stick my nose where it doesn't belong. And I know you weren't having a go at me in the comment, I've run into the same folks. These are usually guys that like to say "I WAS MOSHING TO THE ADOLESCENTS BEFORE YOU WERE BORN SO I RULE". Good for you, you spikey haired archaic cunt. I'm just a nut for clarifying stances in certain cases. I like for people to know where the old school fans (or just this old school fan) stand in regard to punk new and old. I know that it can be frustrating when dudes like to shit all over anything new because it's not old (if that makes sense). You see it in a lot of genres, a lot of old fellows liked to cite hard rock from the 70s while shitting on the grunge movement.
  10. Most old school punkers I know of are annoyed with this "regurgitated" sound as much as you (and myself included). They like creativity, but there is nothing wrong with a band that can capture the spirit of Black Flag, because Black Flag simply kicks ass. Understandably, it's disenchanting when a lot of bands just want to be a paint by numbers O.C. punk band, it seems like a stifling of creativity. It's also unfortunate that most people think that old punk only encompasses a few certain sounds (usually the hardcore style, or the 77 style) when bands (I'm not lumping you into this category for the record) like Suicide, Screamers, Minutemen, Nomeansno, Big Balls and the Great White Idiot, Authorities, Black Randy and the Metrosquad, and countless others were vastly different from their contemporaries. I think if more newer punk bands were getting a bit more creative some of us would have less qualms with the new sound. And now for a review... Zolar-X - Timeless We have an interesting group here in Zolar-X. They are basically California's glam rock equivalent to the New York Dolls in terms of influence on bands within their region. Sound wise they stick with a solid rock and roll sound that was a precursor to punk, much like the New York Dolls churned out. However, in terms of glam image, they were vastly different than the Dolls. While the Dolls used the drag queen image, Zolar-X took an opposite route in adorning themselves in spaceman and martian gear. They even created their own martian language, though they did sing their songs in English. Their sound is easy to pinpoint as predating the 77 style of punk, but possibly leaning closer to the pop sound of things. The album is filled with energetic songs that would make any rock and roller blush with envy, work that makes you want to sing along with, such as the song "Rocket Roll". Songs like "Science" and "Silver Shapes" bring out the bands unrecognized brilliance with song writing and lyrics. The albums centerpiece is the title track "Timeless" which gives the listener their best chance of falling in love with the band. It's clearly a song that stands apart from the rest of the tracks with each chord and beat played. The fast tempo of the album is also what helped to heavily influence the LA punk sound, especially in a band such as the Germs (Pat Smear and Darby Crash both specifically cite Zolar-X as a huge influence on their sound). Zolar-X is really a good band when it comes right down to right. They're all accomplished musicians playing together as if by some sort of telepathy (maybe the martian act wasn't a schtick). It's refreshing to see a band not take themselves too seriously and make their music fun to listen to. 10/10 Songs that are out of this world: Timeless, Rocket Roll, fe1142
  11. I got my most recent record player from amazon.com, the only problem is that it's a belt drive and requires you to put the belt on yourself. The instructions were horrid for it, and I figured it out because I took my old record player apart and realized how it was installed. And Skummy is a better man than I, because I would have had those records in my house quicker than you could say LP. I've found good deals on Dead Kennedys albums myself, but it depends on the seller. I bought a nearly original pressing of Plastic Surgery disasters for roughly 13 bucks, where as sometimes you'll see the same record go for close to 100. I did my shopping at a site called www.gemm.com in case you folks are interested in purchasing vinyl. The thing with that site is being a smart shopper. You can find ludicrously great deals, but there are a lot of sellers that price themselves out of making a sale. (Fuck if I'm paying 200 dollars for D.O.A.'s Hardcore 81, I love the band and all, but not for 200 bucks). Plus a lot of the sellers are based out of the UK and Europe so it would make shipping charges more convenient for my friends from those regions.
  12. CRAZY WORLD OF ARTHUR BROWN $9.99 1 $9.99 22 ORIGINAL HITS $12.99 1 $12.99 IN A GADDA DA VIDA $2.99 1 $2.99 MIDNIGHT RIDE $3.99 1 $3.99 SPIRIT OF '67 $4.99 1 $4.99 JUST LIKE US! $4.99 1 $4.99 HERE THEY COME! $3.99 1 $3.99 Now that might look like mumbo jumbo, but observe the prices there for some great LPs. I managed to pick up some prime 60s rock for a stupid price, on vinyl no less. Arthur Brown for $9.99? Brilliant, this is the guy that Alice Cooper borrowed his make up from. Arthur Brown is one of the original lunatics of rock. Little Richard for 12.99? 22 songs for less than 14 bucks is a good deal in any estimation, and Little Richard is well worth it. In A Gadda Da Vida LP for 2.99? What? That's fucking awesome, Iron Butterfly for basically three bucks is sexy. Then we come to Paul Revere and the Raiders. Four classic sixties garage rock LP's for roughly twenty dollars? I almost fainted when I saw this brilliant deal. Paul Revere and the Raiders were the American version of the Rolling Stones, and quite frankly, a lot better. So, let's share our great deals (or steals) in music, or other multimedia. I'm a bit of a bargain shopper and would be happy to see where you folks find your deals.
  13. It's funny, I remember when Washington drafted Betts. I remember Kiper being puzzled by the pick because the Skins still had Stephen Davis. Now the pick looks pretty good, and Betts has been a very good back up for you guys. I'm just making a bit of an observation for the hell of it. As a side note, the Skins wanted Bly and offered Betts/Shawn Springs but the Lions liked Denver's package better.
  14. The Lions sign TJ Duckett. I love it. It's only a one year deal, but I've been a big fan of Duckett since his days in Michigan State. I always thought he would be the next Jerome Bettis, and possibly even better. That never came to fruition, but he's still a very good power back. With him, Jones, and Bell as a trio, I like our back field depth quite a bit. Even if Jones can't go until mid-season, I like Duckett and Bell as a power and speed combo. Nice signing.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 4) Also, there's one takeaway on the island for food. What would it be or which country's cuisine would it serve? Some sort of deep dish pizza place would work.
  16. In recent years the Pistons have had a tendency to lose to shit teams (not Cleveland), playing to a lower level for some reason. Go and look at their record vs. the Bobcats over the last few years as evidence, they always seem to struggle against them. It's troubling, but I'm not worried.
  17. I just call it like I see it, and as far as I see it..... First comes love, then comes marriage.
  18. For further proof, go to the picture place discussion where Be continues to pimp a hockey player as a Zero look alike. Sicko. I like Swin Cash by the way, she plays for the Detroit Shock in the WNBA.
  19. I say Trey Anastasio, for no reason other than I hate Phish, hippies, and hippie jam bands. That dude from Oasis also seems to be a real cock in his own right. Fuck it, I nominate everybody that I dislike.
  20. What? Williams moving to the slot? Uh. Williams is the undisputed number one WR, and if you mean Mike Williams then forget that as well. He'll be cut if he doesn't improve his work habits. Mike Furrey will be moved to the slot. Curtis is in town right now, but wont meet with officials until Sunday. Dewayne White is apparently close to a deal, most likely something will break tomorrow on it. What I hear is that the Lions don't want him to leave town without a contract, plus he and Marinelli want to be re-united. Edit - The Lions are also listening to offers for Tatum Bell to gauge his value. Though I doubt it will happen, there is a chance that the Lions decide to trade him if the right offer is made. Personally, I think we should just hang on to the guy.
  21. The Lions had Fox briefly, and he is primarily a ST. He's not a good safety, but he works his ass off on special teams.
  22. Jones CAN be a very capable back, but he's coming off a surgery that may keep him out for half the year or more. Even if he does play, he spends at least 3-4 games every season injured. If they can teach Bell to hold onto the ball, they might have a good backup. edit- Of course this means that the Lions kind of need a CB, unless I'm missing something here, they not only have a lack of depth at corner, but a lack of talent as well Even with Jones being a capable back, it seems as if most teams in the NFL are switching to using two backs. Jase pretty much nailed it with Jones being hurt every year as it is. Not to mention our back up and back up back up both had season ending injuries last year. We would have needed a CB with or without Dre Bly, so I'm not concerned in the sense that we gave away our only CB. We got good value for a guy that was going to be gone one or another.
  23. He's an offensive tackle which was a glaring weakness for the Lions. Surprisingly, we're going to be very good at DT if we keep Redding in the middle. By the way, the Lions also got a 5th rounder for Bly on top of Foster and Bell. I appreciate that Bly was committed to winning and seemingly stuck with us through thick and thin. It's just time for him to go. He can be a very exciting player to watch, but don't expect a shut down corner, he's a play maker, but should compliment a guy like Champ Bailey well.
  24. So that really happened? Fucking aye, that's a beautiful thing. That covers two glaring holes for the Lions and gives us some much needed flexibility. Denver overpaid for Bly in my opinion. Though, now that he's working next to a real CB, his free lancing skills may help Denver. It was just clear that Bly no longer fit on our team and became a bit of a shell since the first few seasons in Detroit. I had only thought this trade was a rumor. Nice. And I wasn't aware that Lewis was cut to make his contract more friendly. Not that it matters now.
  25. Vomit diarrhoea out of your nose? Have you been watching the Angry Nintendo Nerd? Possibly. But it's a normal reaction for a Detroit Lions fan of the Millen era to have. And they do call me VerbalPuke for a reason. Jamal Lewis cut? Interesting, I wouldn't mind seeing the Lions make a pitch for him. Of course he'll probably sign with some team that has a real opportunity of making a run somewhere.
