  1. Not 100% sure, but I think we're still in season one downunder. I'm loving it, though. Haven't missed an episode. Saw the first series on DVD for sale the other day for $50. Might pick it up tomorrow.
  2. Oh, I can admit the Priest is the mother of all PvP engines (or was). Nothing says 'your face got melted' like a chain of good spells from a Shadow specialised Priest.
  3. If you like Jeff Buckley, check out George. The male vocalist is about as close as I've ever heard a guy get to emulating Buckley's voice. The girl has an amazing voice too. Check out 'Bastard Sun' for a demo of the male vocalist's voice.
  4. Well, for those interested, here's the roundup from Australia's A-League, the competition in its first ever season. Last Week Sydney FC 2 lost Central Coast Mariners 3 (15,614) Perth Glory 1 lost Adelaide United 2 (8052) Queensland Roar 1 drew Melbourne Victory 1 (15,444) Newcastle United Jets 4 def New Zealand Knights 0 (7495) This Week New Zealand Knights 0 lost Perth Glory 1 (No crowd figures) Queensland Roar 1 lost Sydney FC 3 (23,142) Melbourne Victory 1 def Newcastle United Jets 0 (13,831) Adelaide United 1 drew Central Coast Mariners 1 (7013) Table after Five Weeks Team Pld W D L F A GD Pts Adelaide 5 3 2 0 5 2 3 11 Central Coast 5 2 2 1 6 6 0 8 Newcastle 5 2 1 2 7 4 3 7 Sydney 5 2 1 2 10 8 2 7 Perth 5 2 1 2 6 6 0 7 Melbourne 5 1 3 1 5 5 0 6 Queensland 5 1 2 2 5 6 -1 5 New Zealand 5 1 0 4 3 10 -7 3 Despite their lowly position on the ladder, the Queensland Roar have been immensely exciting to watch with their young forward line with players like Jonty Richter, Michael Baird, and Alex Brosque fast nd skillful. New Zealand, on the other hand, have been nothing short of woeful in most of their games. Melbourne and Perth have yet to set the world alight, whilst Sydney FC are struggling despite the presence of Dwight Yorke in their front line. Newcastle United's big names such as Ante Milic, Mateo Corbo, and Ned Zelic are finally starting to fire after a slow start, whilst the Mariners and Adelaide United continue to impress with their excellent team discipline making up for their lack of recognised stars.
  5. I first played Civ when I got a demo on one of those shitty old demo CDs for my Mac 575. Then I got Civ II (Gold Edition) for Christmas one year, and went absolute nuts with it. Bought Civ III not that long ago, but haven't really gotten into it like the predecessors. No idea why. Civ IV? Fark yeah OT: Fable has a sequal coming out too!? SWEET!
  6. Are Pally's and Rogues/Thieves still painfully overpowered?
  7. Man, I miss this game, haven't played it since February. I'm guessing a heap has changed. My question is - has enough changed to make it worth me buying a copy and playing it again? Are Battlegrounds much fun?
  8. Hehe, those fonts are both from Dafont. Guess I need to work on my selection skills Thanks for the tips
  9. So, I finally got PSP and have decided to start making my own banners (because if I don't do it, BSW goes unrepresented!). Here's my first two attempts, both shite, I know - but any pointers would be lovely. For Berner Street Wrestling's upcoming 'by request' month of programming. I'm aware the crop job on Spanky isn't too flash. It also feels kind of pixelated too. No idea why A shitty, shitty first attempt at an IWF Carnage banner. Currently in the process of making a new one.
  10. Eh, I'm going to give away my pop sensibilities here (I like a broad range, but the ones that stick with me are the poppier ones) but here goes.... Comfortable - John Mayer: Just a wonderfully bittersweet song, that reminds me of my own experiences with breakups almost unerringly. Heaven Coming Down - The Tea Party: Just a kick-ass song, and I can't really describe why. A girl I went on a date or two with recommended it to me, and thought there was nothing there, the song itself really stuck with me. Three Libras - A Perfect Circle: I don't know why, but it kind of feels like a 'loser anthem', maybe it's the 'You don't see me' repetition. I was a big loser in high school, and that's a while ago now, but I still like to cling to some of my outcast heritage. Boys of Summer - Don Henley: NFI why. I heard the DJ Sammy and Ataris versions first, but his version is by far the best. High - The Lighthouse Family: Eh, this one has a weird association with my best mate and how much goofy, stupid fun we used to have as kids. One night it came on the radio and we both sang it like idiots. Just kind of stuck with me ever since.
  11. Picked up both of Fall Out Boy's albums today. Lovin 'em
  12. Went and saw Spiderbait do a show earlier this year, was pretty good.
  13. The Devil's Advocate: One of my favourite movies still. Keanu Reeves actually manages to act in this one, and it's wonderfully atmospheric as well. 8.5/10 Ed Wood: Love this movie, as I do with most everything Jonny Depp does. If you've not seen this brilliant tribute to history's worst director, you really should. 8/10
  14. Wrong Turn - Enjoyable enough as far as trashy horror goes. 5/10
  15. Man on Fire - 7 out of 10. Really enjoyable piece of action, superbly acted by Washington and Fanning Helter Skelter - 7 out of 10. Interesting 'documentary' on the Manson Family murders. Brilliantly cast
  16. Silence of the Lambs - 9/10 Really doesn't need an explanation. One of the finest crafted thrillers of all time. Anthony Hopkins is superb.
  17. Reading Desperation always felt kinda like reading a 'B-Movie', y'know? Not that it was poorly done or anything, just that it wasn't a critical hit and that it was fairly pulpy.
  18. Red Dragon: 8.5 out of 10 One of the better thrillers you'll ever see. Edward Norton is superb as Will Graham, and in my eyes, it's one of the rare occasions where the film outshines the book.
  19. If you dig a good entertainment game, I'd also recommend Hollywood Mogul. It's got a rebirth due towards the end of the year, and looks like it'll kick absolute ass. The basic premise is that you form and run a production company, making movies, hiring stars, and even designing the scripts yourself (you can also buy them, adapt books etc.) Really good game, even if the demo is somewhat limited.
  20. I just finished reading 'Red Dragon' and 'Silence of the Lambs' by Thomas Harris. Really enjoyed both books, although I felt the Red Dragon movie had a far better constructed ending than the book.
  21. Of late, I've been looking around for a game that captures my imagination (and time) like so many classics did when I was younger. In the interests of both starting discussion and finding a game that might entertain me - I thought I'd ask and see what everyone's favourite games of all time were. Here are mine... Escape Velocity If you haven't played this shareware gem, go out and download it straight away. The original was easily the best, but the sequals (EV Override and Escape Velocity Nova) are entertaining as well. When I was in early high school I played this game whenever I could, taking my character (Rex Nebula) from a lowly shuttle freight pilot to the most feared man in Confed space. Planescape Torment The only 'true' roleplay game I've ever played. Games like Baldur's Gate and Diablo claim to be roleplay, but compared to the masterfully written Torment - neither of them is more than point and click action. Planescape Torment has one of the best written stories you'll ever encounter, one that keeps you playing long after the novelty of a talking skull, a burning man, and a born again succubi wears off. Myth: The Fallen Lords The hands down greatest strategy game of all time. Why? Because it's actually about strategy, and not about building a town and collecting resources. Myth placed you in control of a certain number of units, and that was all you had to achieve your goals. Coupled with an amazingly detailed storyline and graphics that were well ahead of their time - Myth is easily my favourite game of all time. Marathon A staple in Mac owners' game collections (even after they've made the jump to PC) - Marathon was a first person shooter with an entertaining storyline and some great eerie atmosphere. Whilst I played Marathon 2: Durandal, far more, I still recognise Marathon as a game that truly rocks. Extreme Warfare Revenge This free little gem puts you in control of a wrestling promotion, handling everything from hiring and firing to the booking of shows. Only really appealing if you're a wrestling fan, and addictive as hell. The Secret of Monkey Island ...and all of its sequals. Guybrush Threepwood is one of the most kick ass protagonists of all time, and for all of the wrong reasons. Hilarious, entertaining, and wonderfully done piece of software. System Shock/System Shock 2 A first person shooter that goes beyond stocking up on ammo and blasting away your opposition, System Shock is one of the most atmospheric games you'll ever play. Driven by a combination of combat, problem solving, and its eerie atmosphere - System Shock and System Shock 2 are must owns. Civilisation 2 Civilisation might have started it all, and Civ 3 may have more features - but I'll always look at Civilisation 2 as a truly kick ass game. Diablo/Diablo 2 Once you get past the fact that it's essentially a fuckload of clicking, Diablo and Diablo II are both tremendously addictive games. With their dark setting, spooky music, and the ability to infinitely replay them over and over again, these games wasted away many of my teen years. So, there's just a sample of my list. What would you have on yours?
  22. So, I'm going to alienate my Aussie brethren, but.... Go England!
  23. Niiiiice. Really slick. I like it.
