  1. Well, I've played a fair bit of xBox (my brother and best mate own one) so I can recommend a few titles: - Fable: Great RPG, a little like Zelda - Halo: Obviously. One of, if not the greatest shooter of all time - The Thing: Pretty good atmospheric little thriller - A Fistful of Boomstick: Evil Dead for xBox, 'nuff said - Tony Hawk's Underground: Not the shithouse sequel, the original - Rugby League: Well, I'm biased,
  2. Well, assuming I go with the general consensus (and it's pretty much all PS2 favoured on the three sites I've asked) - what games would you consider must haves? My favourite xBox titles were Halo, GTA, Fable, Hunter, the Tony Hawk series, and pretty much anything moderately involved. (Is X-Men Legends on PS2?). I've always had people telling me how good things like Metal Gear, Final Fantasy etc are. I guess I could finally find out for myself,
  3. So, now that I am gainfully employed, my first port of call is buying a console. Now, I'm aware that the 360 is on the horizon (as is the PS3, right?) but I want my games fix now, and I want it moderately cheap - since I'm also planning to rebuild my computer. So, what console of the big three would you recommend? I've had a fair bit of experience with the xBox, but have always been impressed with the PS2's range of good games (titles like Silent Hill, for example). Should I stick with the xBox? Or can somebody sell me on the PS2? Hell, I'll buy a Gamecube if I get enough recommendations. I'm really just looking for some insight into the market, since I've not owned my own console since my trusty N64.
  4. My biggest problem with making my own talent file in HM was that it had a limit on the number of actors you could include. I would have liked to have an exhaustive database, just on the off chance I felt like making a movie with Steve Buscemi, Paul Rudd, and Nicole De Boer in it.
  5. Holy crap! Australia have done it! After 32 years of trying and failing, the perennial underachievers of world soccer have qualified for a World Cup. It was 1974 the last time the 'Socceroos' graced the world stage, and for many fans of the team, it's been a long time coming. The Australians have made a habit of falling short in the big games, whether it was a heart-breaking loss to Iran in 1997 or 2001's 3-0 drubbing in Montevido after downing Uruguay 1-0 in the home leg. The Australians went down 1-0 to Uruguay again this year, this time in the away leg, and the pressure was on them in front of over 82,000 fans in Sydney tonight as they played host to the side that dashed their hopes in 2002. A 35th minute goal from Marco Bresciano put things back on level footing, Bresciano sliding on to a hopelessly mis-kicked Harry Kewell strike to bury it in the top of the net. What followed was perhaps one of the most dominant performances by an Australian side in recent memory, outshining performances such as our 3-1 defeat of England or our defeat of Brazil in the Confederations Cup. Despite this, however, Australia could not find the decisive goal that would gain them entry into the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Even thirty minutes of extra time couldn't provide the Australian fans with what they'd been craving since 1974. The game went down to penalties, and Australia couldn't have had a better start when Schwarzer saved the first attempt and Kewell buried his in the back of the net. Australia were 3-2 up when Mark Viduka stepped up and, amazingly, missed cold. It all came down to Schwarzer saving the next shot and Aloisi being able to land his. Miraculously, this is just what happened, Australia through over Uruguay and Recoba's 'divine right'. In other words. I'm over the fucking moon!
  6. Well, the Great Britain vs. Australia match turned out to be a little disappointing, but how good did the Lions look in this morning's clash against New Zealand? 38-12 is a damn fine result, and Carney really showed that he's still one the game's best wingers. If Great Britain win by 2-7 next weekend against Australia, it'll be Australia vs. Great Britian in the final. If they win by eight or more it'll be Great Britain vs. New Zealand. If they lose, the dreaded Australia vs. New Zealand bout will take place.
  7. I'll be tuning in. Not expecting much, given the shitty squads both nations named, but it'll continue my superb weekend of sport.
  8. They Nest - 0.5/10 A movie that's apparently about flesh eating, fast evolving death cockroaches. I thought it'd be a laugh, and it was, but not even in the good sense. The dude from Melrose Place is in it, and is as wooden as ever. Absolutely awful movie with a cop out ending and every hallmark of horror cheese. Thunderstruck - 6/10 An Aussie movie about four AC/DC fans who re-unite when one of their former band-members dies. Their goal? To scatter their friend's ashes alongside Bon Scott's grave. It has its moments of being hilarious and tender, but can't seem to decide which it prefers to be.
  9. Arlington Road's ending always gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. Completely different from what you'd expect.
  10. Yeah, sorry again, mate. I guess that kind of rules me out of conversation in this thread though, since I can't remember what went on in the time period you're talking about. Heh Ah well, I'll still swing in, coz Neighbours rocks and all
  11. She's still hot. Seen Jonny English? Why she's with a waste of space like Daniel Johns is beyond me. Some of his music is ok, but he's like Jeff Hardy in five years - completely drug fucked.
  12. 5 on Halo 3 on Goldeneye 2 on Halo 2
  13. I know this might sound ludicrous, but at Armidale's University of New England they offer a semester long unit on 'Drama and Soap Opera'. For some reason unbeknownst to me even now, I did this unit, and was able to watch Neighbours and call it study. I then had to write three extended essays on issues like sexuality in Neighbours, race in Neighbours, and the portrayal of men and women in Neighbours. Good times
  14. Oh man, Karl had better be number one. Perfectly Comfortable is reason enough on its own. I don't remember Lauren Carpenter at all. Does that make me un-Australian?
  15. One of the HMM titles might be good for what ails me. I've played the original Doom a few times, and have yet to find another shooter I enjoyed as much (except maybe the considerably more obscure Marathon). Not much of a RTS player, unless it's Myth. I hate resource collection, heh. I might just swallow my pride, upgrade my comp, and buy WoW again. Or I might just buy a PS2/xBox
