Depends on how you classify good. You're thoughts on a good artist may completely differ on someone else's, just like your views on a wrestling match may be completely different to someone elses. That's what annoys me about these threads - art is subjective. You can't say definitively she's not good. She certainly has an appeal, there's no denying that.

Unfortunately Perez got smacked around a bit after a good first innings. He's great fun to watch. Sheets was good. My beloved Bucs got done 9 to 2 or something.

I didn't really need the proof, but you are just as intelligent as I thought you were. Tool stood for something. They stood for the abstract, and still do. The idea that maybe the preconcieved notions of the worlds *aren't* the "correct" way to think...or even that there is a correct way to think. I'm not saying Maynard is a bad person if he becomes a devout Christian...but I will view his work with a much more cynical eye. ← I can't believe you think that's intelligent. I like Tool, but it's not as if people can't change. To want him to stay the way you like him in spite of him being happy is just selfish.

This is depressing news. I first heard about Mitch about a year ago and saw him on Conan a few times before I bit the bullet and found his albums. Quickly became my favourite comedian bar none. I listen to Mitch All Together at least once a week, still. Very very sad news. My favourite would definately be the Peter Frampton "stay the hell away from me Frampton, I got nothin' to say to you!" joke. Always gets me. RIP.

Ugh, this game drives me insane. I'm just so terrible at it. And yeah, I hesitated at first but picked up a Gamecube cheap at a sale and haven't looked back. Very nice little system.

Jessica reminds me too much of a barbie doll. Hope to see Maggie Gyllenhaal get a nod.

All five are favourites of mine. Especially Damien Rice. O is amazing amazing amazing. You should check out Sarah Blasko if you get a chance. A little poppier than those mentioned but still very contemporary. I love good female vocalists.

I hold him in high regard as well. He's gotten no press here, but a record store had his album playing in the background once while I was having a look around. I asked them who it was, and his name stuck in the back of my head. I heard 'This Year's Love' in The Girl Next Door, then went out and bought the album. And the rest, they say, is history. I'd say he's my style, though. I'm a big softy.

You don't put things into context though. The original is not only a great song (my opinon) but summed up the feelings of a generation and whole movement of people that was really centered in music. You could make an argument that that movement died with Lennon. I think it's one of his most important works. That's why it gets rated so highly. Not because it's his best song. The APC one I understand what they were trying to do with it, but they just butchered it. Once again all opinion, but to take the song and make it an anti-anthem, almost... I can't stand it. I am very critical to alot of the Beatles covers (as well as obviously the covers done of their solo work) and I really haven't found one I was particularly fussed with, but this one in particular I cannot stand.

You're probably right. I tend to think of it as he's been hurt before but he retains hope. The threatening "This year's love had better last" kinda sticks with your theory though, lol. Beautiful melody, though. Kinda makes the lyrics creep up on you without realising. Another song would be James Taylor - Something In The Way She Moves. He has a ton of great love songs, actually.
