  1. For the guy who asked, I really enjoyed the main story of Avengers Disassembled and I fely it really set the tone for all the following events (House of M, Civil War etc.) When I read it also, it was the first avengers story I read since that run began (after Heroes Return, I read the Morgan le fay story then the one where the picked the new roster). And yeah, really enjoyed it. As for the tie-ins, I never read them. I heard mixed reactions but wouldn't mind checking them out (Iron Man, Cap, Spidey, Thor and FF I believe), but the reason I never read them originally was that I think I read somewhere they weren't directly connected to the main storyline.
  2. Not my favourites of all time (some are) but my faves at the minute. 1. Iron Maiden 2. Avenged Sevenfold 3. The Gallows 4. Trivium 5. Machine Head 6. Metallica 7. Within Temptation 8. Dragonforce 9. Fall Out Boy 10. Chimaira
  3. Click here Theres a bunch of nice Helen Flanagan pics on that site, they all open up to big to put on here though. You'll have to look yourselves. A few of them she looks young 'cos of the facial expressions, but most is good. Also gotta continue the Roxanne Pallet love. Nikki Sanderson is 'wow' too, but the pics posted earlier are probaby the best around. Jennifer Anniston has always been Hawt in my opinion too (Y)
  4. I've been reading a hell of a lot of recent-ish Marvel stuff at the minute, currently really enjoying Annihilation. One thing I haven't really looked at is Daredevil. I wanna read something pretty modern, and go from there keeping in mind I no very little about DD's history other than his first few years which I read in Essential Daredevil. Recommendations folks?
  5. Wow. I have over the last week or two accquired a heck of a lot of comics. Some single issues, a load of trades and a bunch in digital format. Most of the stuff goes between early 2005 upto late 2007, so pretty much the last few years of Marvel is covered. I bought a lot, and have been given lots too. Currently reading Iron Man - Extremis, Incredible Hulk - Tempest Fugit, Marvel Team Up and Wolverine - Agent of SHIELD and I'm actually really enjoying them all at the minute. I have here New Thuderbolts too, Im not really familiar with the original series... will I be able to enjoy this just as much as the next person?
  6. I guess I could, but you'd probably have to send me an extra couple quid over paypal to cover the extra postage.
  7. If anyones interested I'm selling a bunch of my trades. X-Men, New Avengers and some Civil War tie-ins there. http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZnoslazwill
  8. Been playing FF XII a fair bit when I get chance. I returned to the Roctoise now at level 18 (I was originally at the recommended leevl of 11 and got whupped) and klcked his ass. A chain of about 8 quickenings followed by an onsalught at the hands of Belias followed by another chain of 3 quickenings finally finished the bastard off. I am finding that at the minute using a combination of Belias and Quickenings seems to be an easy route to winning any Boss battles of the tougher hunts. Also Balthier's new gun 'The Sirius' kicks all kinds of ass. Dealing roughly 800-1000 damage each shot whereas all my other characters seem to land between 200-500 damage each time.
  9. Gameboy Gameboy Colour Nintendo DS Nintendo DS Lite (my sisters) Wii Playstation Playstation 2 Oh and I think I have my Sega Megadrive lying around somewhere ^_^
  10. Shit. Clearly I am an idiot. Well observed though JLH. And yeah, I guess some of it, if not most of it sounds pretty unlikely when going back to it.
  11. http://www.uncannyxmen.net/db/article/show...amp;fldAuto=324 Interview with Greg Pak and Axel Alonso regarding a new book that will follow the Phoenix Endsong/Warsong books. T'will be called Phoenix: Birthsong. Clicky clicky on the link for some information.
  12. I got it damn cheap too. It was £7 for the main game ith two expansions and that was like a year ago. Awesomeness.
  13. Thanks for that little tidbit there, cos I probably would have done >_< On that note, I finished Ultimate Nightmare and while the whole 'he's coming' thing was pretty inevitable... the whole idea of where they were and what had been going on there was really good, and very well told. Very enjoyable. Hopefully the next two parts follow suit when I get my hands on them.
  14. I do intend to read the other two parts too Teej. I think I'm gonna like it though, I mean nothings really happened (upto chapter 3) yet and I'm quite hooked on the thing. Really wishing I bought all three parts while I was out today. On another note has anybody read Ultimate Vision, Ultimate Power, Ultimate Marvel Team Up, Ultimate Human, the Ultimate Annual Collections or the Ultimate Darevdevil/Elektra stories? Also one I have avoided from the start is Ultimate FF as I've been reading Spidey, X-Men and Ultimates... is it any good?
  15. Splurged out on some TPB's today. Got' Ultimate Spider-Man 10: Hollywood + Vol 11: Carnage, Ultimate X-Men 11: Most Dangerous Game, Exiles Vol 6: Fantastic Voyage and Ultimate Galactus Vol 1: Ultimate Nightmare. So far I have read the Exiles one, its brilliant as per usual with the Exiles (even though I thought 5 wasn't as good as previous efforts) and it was very good all round. My only beef is that they keep killing off/getting rid of all my favourites; Spoiler: Click here to viewMagnus, T-Bird, Sunfire Although I'm beginning to love Magik, shes great. She's just such a badass heartless mean bitch compared to the nice little girl she is in the 616. I read the first chapter of Ultimate Nightmare and I really enjoyed the art, its lovely. The story seems a little slow.. but its got my totally anticipating whats going to happen next. Kinda weird seeing Black Widow on the Ultimates team after I'vee already read Ultimates 2, but meh... she's awesome and sexy. Can't wait to read Carnage though.
  16. Seriously, If you're at the right level all you need is one or two quickening chains (use three characters, then switch to the other three) on a boss and it nails almost all their health. Well in my experience of where I'm upto (not really that far) but I did dispatch the second Demon Wall with ease. Considering goign back and nailing the first one for a little mroe of a challenge and some supposed goodie I can get ahold of.
  17. My god, when I first played through FF XII, I got to King Raithwalls Tomb and got totally owned by the Garuda. I was only around level 10/11 although at the time I didn't realise how bad it was... oh yeah and I didn't get the Eskir berries (sp?) either. This time around, level 15. Eskir Berries BAM. Simple chain of 3 quickenings BAM. 3 rounds of physical attacks and its over. How simple, now I go on to the oh so dreaded Demon Wall I hear everyone talk about.
  18. I echo the Dan Slott love. While I haven't read the Avengers Initiative, I love his runs with She-Hulk and Thing. Two more writers whom I really enjoy; Greg Pak and Kurt Busiek. I loved Pak on Planet Hulk as well as his Phoenix Endsong and Warsong runs. Oh and I may be only one of few, but I really enjoyed Iron Man: House of M too, as I felt it was quite refreshing so to speak. Busiek on the other hand, I mention because I recently bought the 'Marvel Masters: tales of Kurt Busiek' graphic novel. The first story is a three part Iron Fist and Power Man story which was a very involved story for its time, with a lot of plot to it... but never getting so serious that all of the fun of it was taken away. The second story was Marvels #0 which had the origin of the original Human Torch. By god, its like a fucking poem. A good one at that. Pure brilliance, I haven't read the rest of the collection yet, but I look forward to it (think I'm going to hunt down some kinf of collection of the Marvels stories if I can too). So what do you gusy think of these two writers? On newer guy, and one long time writer.
  19. Thanks for that pointer TGC, although the main reason I didn't point it out was for UK readers who aren't upto date with US title won't know that. I know its not a mega spoiler or anything, but didn't want to cross any kind of spoiler line.
  20. TSSTB hit the nail pretty much on the head there. Two people have equal points, so whichever gets more people voting for it ranks higher. In one case I had three with equal points. I got to down to two using above method, and they had the same amount of people voting for them. So then I seperate them by which one got more higher place votes.. Make sense? Hopefully. The easist way to work it out? Probably not. But t me it was the 'fairest' way so to speak.
  21. Thanks for pointing that out MPH. Yeah my spelling was sloppy, mainly 'cos I was rushing to get it out. Edited and hopefully up to your spelling standards
  22. Here comes the first part of this particular list, I'll be doing five at a time and probably going into moer detail with the last five characters. Thanks for all your votes, we had 16 characters who recieved votes but didn't make the top 25 and a number of characters I was surprised to see get no or very few votes at all. I may take a look at a few of these later on, until then enjoy EWB's 25 Favourite Marvel Superheroes The Results EWB's Favourite Marvel Superheroes #25 - Hank Pym/Ant Man/Giant Man/Goliath/Yellowjacket (3 PTS) Who is Hank Pym? Hank Pym was one of the founding members of the Avengers, who has had a plethora or memorable moments, some good some bad. He's also had just as many outfits and identities to match. Originally helping to form the Avengers as Ant Man using his specially designed headset to talk to insects, along with the miniture Wasp whom he would later marry. Not longer after the Avengers formed, he used his knowledge of science so that he could grow rather than shrink, becoming Giant Man. Despite all this, a series of events lead to him preferring a scientific course of life as apposed to that of a superhero. Pym's 'demise' is mostly credited to a few things; his accidently creating the Avenger's greatest foe in Ultron, a case of schizprhenia where he took on the identity of Yellow Jacket (pictured) and his always rocky and eventually failed marriage to the Wasp. My Thoughts Over time I never really liked Hank Pym as a character all that much. But in retrospect, he is pretty interesting. Also having recently read 'Earth's Mighiest Heroes II' which shows a more detailed look at Hank's time as Yellowjacket, I have found myself more intrigued by Pym (or whatever he's calling himself these days). EWB's Favourite Marvel Superheroes #24 - Ben Reilly/Spider-Man/Scarlet Spider (4 PTS) Who is Ben Reilly? Ben was a clone of Spider-Man created by a madman, The Jackal. Reilly or 'the clone' as he would have been known at the time was though to have perished during a battle with the real Spidey. He infact survived and went on to live in exile calling himself 'Ben Reilly.' It wouldn't be long until his past caught up with him though as another Spider-Man clone, albiet a much disfigured one by the name of Kaine, spent many of these years trying to kill Ben. He finally returned and became 'the Scarlet Spider' and fought along side Spider-Man many times. It was later (falsley) revealed that Ben was infact the original and Peter Parker was the clone! So Ben then took up the mantel as Spider-Man so that Peter and wife Mary Jane could get on with their lives. The truth finally came out though during a battle with Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin. Osborn had been the main mastermind behind much of the 'clone saga' and when he killed Reilly, Ben disintegrated into a pile of dust (which was true of clones when they died). My Thoughts Personally I always loved this character. I loved him as Scarlet, I really enjoyed his time as Spider-Man too. I liked that because he was 'new' so were a lot of the villains. The female Doc Oc, Scorpia, a new and improved Hobgoblin and my personal favourite was when Ben became 'Spider-Carnage.' EWB's Favourite Marvel Superheroes #23 - Union Jack (4 PTS, with more voters) Who is Union Jack? There have been three versions of Union Jack. Lord Montgomery Falsworth in WWI, his son Brian Falsworth in WWII and the current Union Jack, Joseph Chapman. He became friends with the Grandson (Kenneth Chrichton) of the original Jack at University. He took up the mantel of Union Jack when Lord Falsworth's estranged brother the German Vampire Baron Blood returned. Blood saw to it that Lord Falsworth became crippled, and the mantle of Union Jack was passed onto Joseph (Kenneth Chricton would have done, but his poor health meant he wouldn't survive a battle). So along with family friend Steve Rogers (Captain America), the new Union Jack defeated Baron Blood, and has continued to fight as Union Jack. Shortly after this event, Lord Falsworth passed away. He died happy knowing his legacy would live on eith Chapman though. My Thoughts Naturally being British, I think he's awesome. I haven't read a lot of stuff about him, mostly seen him pop up in Cap stories and the such. Infact writing about him has made me wanna' read about him. EWB's Favourite Marvel Superheroes #22 - War Machine(5 PTS) Who is War Machine? War Machine is James Rhodes, one of Tony Stark's best friends. They became friends afer Rhodes (a former US Pilot) was shot down in Vietnam near where Tony Stark was taken prisoner and ultimatley became Iron Man. Tony rescued him and they've been friends ever since. During a particularly difficult part of Stark's life, Rhodes took over as Iron Man for a brief time even serving with the West Coast Avengers for a while. He was invited to the group when chairman Hawkeye believed he was the original, but after proving himself worthy as an Avenger, revealed his true identity. Years later Tony Stark's death was faked and Rhodes became the CEO of Stark Enterprises and made himself a new suit of armour in order to become War Machine, again serving as a West Coast Avenger for some time as well as being a part of Force Works. A time travel related adventure saw neo-nazi's send modern weapons back to WWII, Rhodes and some others managed to stop the plot but the War Machine armour was lost. For a short while, Rhodes wore an alien version of his armour but it wasn't long before he hung the armour up. Most recently he has served as a Direct Command Officer in the Office of National Security (O*N*E*). My Thoughts I always liked WM in the old Iron Man cartoon, and he added a little extra excitement to the Avengers and Iron Man books back when he first put a suit of armour on. It'd be great to see a return to action in my opinion. EWB's Favourite Marvel Superheroes #21 - She-Hulk (5 PTS, with more higher place votes) Who is the She-Hulk? Jennifer Walters was a simple lawyler until one day she needed a blood transfusion. The only person available that was her blood type was her cousin Bruce Banner. What she didn't realise, was that he is the Hulk. His ratiated blood caused her to transform into the She-Hulk, along with the near invulnerability and super strength, speed and agility. At first she was savage, just as the Hulk. Over time she manged to keep the intelligence of Jen Walters while in Hulk form, although it gave her a newfound confidence and assertiveness which she didn't possess in human form. Over time she has worked solo, as a partner to the Incredible Hulk, as a member of the Fantastic Four and as an Avenger. She now works for the Superhuman Law division of the New York law firm of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg, & Holliway. My Thoughts She-Hulk to me, was always a character who kinda floated around and didn't excite me too much especially when she was on her own. I always preferered her as an Avenger more than anything. Dan Slott's recent run with her has made me look at her differently and I certainly enjoy reading his stories about her. So thats the first five in the list, coming up next it'll be numbers 20-16, and lets just say that theres quite a variety in our next section.
  23. Voting is closed and the results shall begin in another thread shortly. Thanks for the participation guys (Y)
