Amusing seeing people say they would play Welbeck ahead of Rooney. Last time a major tournament rolled around, I distinctly remember people complaining that Welbeck was in the squad, let alone starting. His career has regressed since then, if anything. I'd personally start with Kane up top and Rooney out wide. You know,at the very least, that Rooney will put a shift in and do a better defensive job than 99% of our wingers. Stick him wide left/right and give Alli/Barkley/both license to get forward and support Kane.

The same was said at Christmas and here we are two months later... We have just as difficult a run in as City do since we have to play all of the top 4 still. The difference being that we won't win the games we *should* be winning. We're far too inconsistent. See: Southampton at home, Norwich at home and Sunderland away, to name but a recent few. Edit - On a more positive note. Pleased about the decision to name a stand after Sir Bob. All round lovely fella and much deserved for everything he's done for us. Possibly our greatest ever player. Certainly the most influential.

This is actually my one major worry with Jose (likely) coming in. I bloody love Mata, Jose's contract needs to include a "keep Mata forever" clause. Wonderful man.

If his first 2 seasons are as successful as they usually are, then I'm sure most fans would take that in a heartbeat, over what we have right now.

So if we could sack LVG soon that'd be greeeaaattt. Honestly don't know what the board are waiting for at this point. I was his most ardent defender last season/earlier this season, but you can't spend as much as he has and fail to improve on last season. The best part is 5th actually flatters us at the moment. We deserve to be much lower that that, and probably will be once the thrilling Thursday night trips kick in. Either bring Mourinho in and give him the rest of the season to settle in/prepare for next season, or just give Giggs a run until the end of the season. At least get a good feeling back around the club. Personally, I would just get Jose in now. Who knows, the short term 'new manager effect' could at least bring about a decent run in the FA Cup or Europa League. With LVG in charge we will no doubt go out of both with a whimper.

What an awful game though. Standard fare for us this season. A much needed 3 points and always nice to win at Anfield. Even better when it's thoroughly undeserved.
