Stan Lee has died

Stan Lee was a lot of things and not all of them were good, but superhero comics wouldn't be what they are without him and I've been dreading the day that he wouldn't be around anymore for years. Through reading the excellent Marvel Comics: The Untold Story I learned how long he'd championed the idea that you could build the same universe that the Marvel bullpen built in the '60s on the big and small screens only to run into roadblock after roadblock, and I'm glad he lived long enough to see it actually happen. His DNA, his calculated self-deprecation and willingness to puncture the loftiness that often comes with the idea of superheroes, can be seen in stuff like that scene in Homecoming where Spider-Man wants to do superheroics but it's just a slow day in New York and all he can really do is give tourists directions and do flips for a dude who wants to see him do a flip.

His narration in the Spider-Man game from like 2001 is a part of my fondest childhood memories, that gave me so much joy and his cheesy, hilarious dialogue was a big part of it. 

He didn't invent the MCU or anything like that, but suffice to say it's my favorite piece of entertainment right now and to lose him feels like it's a loss on a significant part of that as well.

The MMORPG Champions Online (yes, it still exists) gave all players Stan Lee's glasses (referred to as Glasses Aviator Legacy) as a costume piece for free. The game already had aviator sunglasses, but the new ones have a few different lenses available and the different parts of the frames can be colored individually. The previous one you only had mirrored lenses and the frame ended up  being all one color.
