Bah, I thought POTC was a shoe-in for a nod in the best Foreign film category.

BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

FINDING NEVERLAND

Film Colony Productions; Miramax Films

It's actually my top rated English language drama, so I'm happy with that.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

UMA THURMAN KILL BILL VOL. 2

The only performance in this category I both saw and liked. I saw Birth 2 months ago and wasn't impressed with Nicole Kidman at all.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE - DRAMA

JOHNNY DEPP FINDING NEVERLAND

I really should wait until I see Kinsey and Hotel Rwanda, but Depp was fantastic in this movie.

BEST MOTION PICTURE - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND

Anonymous Content/This is that; Focus Features

There really is something wrong with the world if this movie doesn't win.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

ANNETTE BENING BEING JULIA

Not even close in this category. Winslet was good, but Bening was mindblowing.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE -MUSICAL OR COMEDY

JIM CARREY ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE

SPOTLESS MIND

It's finally his year, I can feel it. Actually it's really the first time he's deserved it, save maybe Man On the Moon.

I'm skipping Foreign Language since I haven't seen any of them. Like I said, my pick in that category was Passion of the Christ before it failed to be nominated. Hmm, haven't seen any in the supporting actresses category either.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE

DAVID CARRADINE KILL BILL VOL. 2

I really need to see more of these Award season films.

BEST DIRECTOR - MOTION PICTURE

MARC FORSTER FINDING NEVERLAND

I'd have given Michel Gondry my vote had he been nominated.

BEST SCREENPLAY - MOTION PICTURE

CHARLIE KAUFMAN ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE

SPOTLESS MIND

The direction was better, but the screenplay was still superb.

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE - MOTION PICTURE

JAN A.P. KACZMAREK FINDING NEVERLAND

This is one of the rare categories in which bigger budget pictures are better off. It's missing the nods for POTC and Harry Potter 3 though.

BEST ORIGINAL SONG - MOTION PICTURE

“OLD HABITS DIE HARD” — ALFIE

Music & Lyrics by: Mick Jagger & David A. Stewart

Because I shall nevar vote for The Counting Crows.

BEST TELEVISION SERIES - DRAMA

LOST (ABC)

Touchstone TV

I love 24 and all, but Lost is what 24 was 2 years ago.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES - DRAMA

EDIE FALCO THE SOPRANOS

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES - DRAMA

JAMES SPADER BOSTON LEGAL

BEST TELEVISION SERIES - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT (FOX)

20th Century Fox Television i.a.w. Imagine Television

I might have voted for AD anyway, but Scrubs deserved a nod, and as usual didn't get it.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

TERI HATCHER DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES

She's actually really believable in this role. And I thought her career post Lois Lane was over...

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

ZACH BRAFF SCRUBS

Right the wrongs, people. Jason Bateman is good, but he's just a straight character to the wacky support cast.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION

DREA DE MATTEO THE SOPRANOS

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION

Guest Ringmaster

Yes I'm stealing Beatnik's format. :P

BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

KINSEY

Qwerty Films; Fox Searchlight Pictures

I enjoyed this more then the others, but I haven't seen Aviator or Million Dollar Baby yet. Maybe it's because I had to learn about Kinsey year after year, but I just found this entertaining and great artistically.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

IMELDA STAUNTON VERA DRAKE

No question there, I haven't seen Scarlett or Swank yet, but I doubt they can beat this. Pretty much everyone neglected this film, and the film itself was whateverish, but Staunton's acting was top notch all the way. Probably one of the best acted roles this year

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE - DRAMA

LIAM NEESON KINSEY

Depp was fantastic, but again, I thought Neeson was fantastic. Anyone who knows what the real Alfred Kinsey was like can really see how good a job he did. I'm still suspecting Depp to win, because he's critics's new darling

BEST MOTION PICTURE - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND

Anonymous Content/This is that; Focus Features

Sideways and ESOTSM go head to head, and they were both the best movies of the year so far, but Sunshine gets the nod by nose

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

KATE WINSLET ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE

SPOTLESS MIND

No one out of this world, and Winslet was the best

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE -MUSICAL OR COMEDY

PAUL GIAMATTI SIDEWAYS

Carrey was fantastic, but Giamatti was just freakin' great.

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT (FRANCE)

2003 Productions/Warner Bros.; Warner Independent Pictures

I liked the House of Flying Daggers, but I'm probably the only person who likes this more. Shit, I'm probably the only person that likes this. It was a solid story, good acting and great cinematography, what more could you want?

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE

LAURA LINNEY KINSEY

Good stuff from Linney, she's often overlooked even though she busts out good performance after good performance

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE

DAVID CARRADINE KILL BILL VOL. 2

I'd give it to Owen because he's Owen, but really, Carradine was gold in KB and needs some love

BEST DIRECTOR - MOTION PICTURE

ALEXANDER PAYNE SIDEWAYS

Haven't seen Aviator yet so this is my pick, but I'm expecting Scorsese to win

BEST SCREENPLAY - MOTION PICTURE

CHARLIE KAUFMAN ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE

SPOTLESS MIND

Kaufman's time to shine. Great fucking script.

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE - MOTION PICTURE

JAN A.P. KACZMAREK FINDING NEVERLAND

I've only seen 2 of the movies, so I can't really judge.

BEST ORIGINAL SONG - MOTION PICTURE

I actually don't remember most of these songs. Not that I really care anyways.

BEST TELEVISION SERIES - DRAMA

24 (FOX)

Imagine Television and 20th Century Fox Television

The Sopranos are great, Lost is too early to tell, Nip/Tuck is fun but not the best show out there and Deadwood is greatness. But 24 was just awesome this season, and just commands the win.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES - DRAMA

JOELY RICHARDSON NIP/TUCK

Normally Falco would win, but we didn't get much Carmella this season, and Richardson was great in Nip/Tuck. The other three don't really belong her IMO.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES - DRAMA

IAN MCSHANE DEADWOOD

Al Swearengen is my idol, and he wouldn't be anything without McShane. THIS MAN NEEDS THE LOVE. And where's Jack Bauer and Tony Soprano at?

BEST TELEVISION SERIES - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT (FOX)

20th Century Fox Television i.a.w. Imagine Television

Where is Scrubs? That's all I have to say

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

TERI HATCHER DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES

Again, crap nominees here. Hatcher isn't half bad for once so she gets my nod.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES - MUSICAL OR COMEDY

ZACH BRAFF SCRUBS

Finally, some sort of nomination for Scrubs. Braff is great as JD. Although Dr. Cox commands recognition. Oh well. Someday.

BEST MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MINI-SERIES OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MINI-SERIES OR A MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION

Don't care, haven't seen 90% of the stuff in these

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION

DREA DE MATTEO THE SOPRANOS

She was fantastic this season and needs this award. Well over the others at least.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION

MICHAEL IMPERIOLI THE SOPRANOS

I almost said Piven, but Imperioli was also great this season. Really, this season was all about De Matteo and Imperioli.

The only tiny speck of interest here is in Carradine's nomination. His performance was one of the best I've ever seen ever in any movie... ever, and hopeful, the Academy takes notice and he gets nominated for an important award.

EDIT: I'm guessing that only television from this season in eligible for a nomination, which is fairly ridiculous.

If Nip/Tuck and Julian McMahon do not win for their respective awards, then that is just a shame. McMahon was awesome in both seasons of Nip/Tuck. While Michael Chiklis was good, he wasn't the best. Denis Leary was also good, but not close to the best. McMahon was just pure awesome in his role as Christian Troy.

Why is it "fairly ridiculous"? A show should be rewarded for seasons past? If it was good 2 years ago, it was eligible 2 years ago. I don't see anything ridiculous about it.

The awards cover the year 2004, but not TV shows from January to May (last season, technically)? I find that silly.
