Related question: Do the winners of the Champs League automatically get to participate in it next season or not? I was just wondering because if by some miracle Liverpool go through to the final and beat Milan, they won't be able to defend it next season since they're not in the top 4 will they? That's if they can't get past Everton in the last few games.

I believe they automatically get in, but they won't allow more than 4 to come from any one country so I think it would be Liverpool and the top three to go through.

Actually, if Liverpool win the damn thing, it is the FA that decides whether Everton or Liverpool gets the CL spot.

Unless UEFA gives England 5 CL spots, which they have not ruled out.

Just to clarify something, the "Winner of the League gets place" clause ceased to exist a few years ago. Ever since the UEFA coefficients started to be also applied to the Champions League the number of teams on the League started to be only defined by those coefficients. The English FA gets 4 spots to distribute to 4 of its teams, and its up to them to decide who to choose.
