WCW THUNDER

Wednesday , April 26th, 2005

<=:=><=:=>Intro and Pyro<=:=><=:=>

Meltzer: "What an explosive night it should be tonight on Thunder, we've heard the claims, we've heard the internet rumors, and they're all true! Raven and Chris Jericho are BOTH here tonight!

Heenan: "This is awful Meltzer, just awful. Those two are going to tear each other apart before we get to Spring Stampede!"

1. BRAGGING RIGHTS

Thunder starts out with the boss himself, Eric Bischoff, coming to the ring to a great ovation. Bischoff takes a couple bows and has a huge smile on his face before grabbing a microphone. Eric says that sometimes, things happen and you just can't believe your eyes. You ask people about them over and over again, asking for confirmation if it's the truth. And when it finally hits you, your overwhelmed with joy. Yesterday, Eric got in the Nielson ratings, and for the first time in nearly 8 years, he finally beat Vince. Not in a wrestling match, but in the ratings war. In fact, he beat him by nearly one fifth of a full point! The crowd goes wild as Eric tells them that it's all because of great fans like them, and the great performers backstage. Eric says that it took him less then a year to accomplish what it took Vince years to accomplish, outperform the opposition. Eric says that WCW has always been based on one thing, great wrestling. And to commemorate that, tonight, we're going to see a great match. Tonight, CM Punk is going to take on Booker T in a singles match! The crowd cheers as Eric tells them that WCW is all about what the fans want, because he listens to their pleas, he reads the online criticism, and he can deliver a product that Heyman and McMahon "cant compare to"

2. JODY FLEISCH VS ALEX SHELLEY

The crowd is pretty dead for Fleisch, but liven up a little as Shelley comes to the ring. Great back and forth match that some some amazing highflying from Jody Fleisch, who connected on a springboard hurricanrana that sent Shelley to the outside and followed it up with a suicide dive through the ropes. Shelley fought back and connected on a dropkick on Fleisch as he went for a top rope cross body. Shelley connected on a a series of hiptosses and followed them up with a belly to belly suplex, but only got a two. Fleisch fought back, connecting on a roundhouse kick and a moonsault press off the top rope, but only got a two count. Fleisch went for a back body drop after an irish whip, but Shelley countered with a powerbomb attempt, Fleisch tried to counter with a Hurricanrana, but Shelley sat down and put him in a 1 legged boston crab in a great show of wrestling. Fleisch got to the ropes and eventually connected on a headscissors takeover. Fleisch looked for a senton bomb, but Shelley moved out of the way, Shelley connected with Shellshock shortly after for the 1-2-3 pinfall victory. Shelley celebrated the win in the ring, as he's got quite a little win streak going for him.

WINNER: ALEX SHELLEY

<M:81% C:61% O:71% Alex Shelley gained overness from this match. >

3. THE PEOPLE'S CHAMP?

Backstage, we see Sonny Siaki standing by with The Coach! Siaki's sporting a silk shirt and sunglasses, just like..well, you know! The Coach asks Siaki if he's ready for his TV Title match this Sunday at Spring Stampede against Stevie Richards. Siaki says that he was born ready for this match and that the only thing holding him back is the wait. Tick Tock, Tick Tock, can you hear that Stevie? That's the sound of your reign as TV Champ, coming to an end. Siaki asks Richards got to be TV champ anyways, after all, he's just a dorky white guy who hangs around with a group of guys. The Siak was meant for the title. Everytime he comes on TV, the ladies scream, the fans cheer, and he does what he does best, electrify crowds and dazzle the fans. Siaki says that the odds are a million to one on Richards walking out with the title this Sunday, if you smell..what the Siak..is cookin!

<0:86%>

4. JAMES GIBSON VS CHAVO GUERRERO

Gibson comes out first and recieves a small ovation from the crowd. Chavito hits the ring next and the crowd is all over him. Chavo gains control after the collar and elbow and delivers some arm drags as he prances around the ring in a cocky manner. Chavo takes control with an arm ringer and then a headlock that takes Gibson to the ground. Gibson hits the ropes and tries to whip Chavo out of the headlock, but Chavo connects on a bulldog! Chavo points to his head as if he outsmarted Gibson. Chavo connected on a vertical suplex and made a non-chalent pin, only getting a 1 count. Chavo tried going to the top rope, but took his time, and Gibson threw him off the top rope. Gibson connected on a series of clotheslines and started to build momentum as the crowd got behind him. Gibson connected on a russian legsweep, but only got a two count. Gibson then connected on an atomic drop and clotheslined Chavo over the top rope. The ref started to count Chavo out as he got back to his feet. Chavo picked himself up off the ground and looked at the ref and Gibson, before turning around and walking up the ramp! Gibson looked dissapointed as the ref reached 8, then 9, then 10! Gibson was declared the winner and his hand was raised, but Chavo didn't even look behind him as he simply walked to the back, leaving the fans, as well as Gibson confused.

WINNER: JAMES GIBSON (By countout)

5. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT?

Backstage, Mean Gene catches up with Chavo Guerrero. Mean Gean asks Chavo why he just walked out of his match out there. Chavo says that he didn't belong in that match. You see, Chavo Guerrero isn't a no-name nobody, he's a somebody! After all, he did defeat Christian, something even his own Uncle can't even do! Chavo is sick and tired of being overlooked by everyone, he's a Guerrero too, and he's just as good.. if not better, then his uncle Eddie! Chavo asks Mean Gene what a win over a nobody like James Gibson would do for his career..absolutely nothing. Chavo says that he's not going to risk another injury just to prove to all these stupid people how great he is. Chavo says that from now on, if his matches don't mean anything, then he's simply not going to show up anymore. Why? Because no showing seems to be the only way to get attention in WCW nowadays. Eric Bischoff would rather count his stacks of money then deal with the guys who actually made that money for him!

6. CHRIS SABIN VS BILLY KIDMAN

Sabin's music hits and he comes out to a very small response from the crowd. Kidman's music hits and Kidman comes out along with Torrie at his side. Torrie is looking spicy hot in a tube top and a pair of tight jeans. The match starts out fast with Kidman attacking Sabin, who had his eyes focused on Torrie. Kidman takes control after backing Sabin into the corner and hammering away with right hands. Sabin came charging back as the ref broke them up, but Kidman connected on a drop toe hold and an elbow drop to the back. Kidman puts Sabin in a headlock, but Sabin shoots him into the ropes, Sabin with a leapfrog, but Kidman stops after going under his legs and connected on a dropkick to the back that sent Sabin to the outside. Kidman went to the top rope and connected on a shooting star to a standing Sabin on the outside. Kidman went for an irish whip into the stairs on Sabin, but Sabin reversed, sending Kidman crashing into the stairs. Sabin connectd on the Sabin Edge, but only got a two count back in the ring.

Sabin tried for a tiger suplex, but Kidman connected on elbows to the head. Sabin ducked the final elbow and connected on the tiger suplex, but only got a two count. Sabin went to the top rope, and connected on a missle dropkick, but only got another two count. Sabin picked Kidman up, and looked for a powerbomb, but Kidman caught him with the Kidcrusher. Kidman went for a pin, but Sabin got his foot on the ropes. Kidman, now frustrated, hammered away on Sabin. Sabin got back to his feet and Kidman shot him into the ropes and put his head down, but Sabin connected on a kick to the chest and an inside out clothesline. Torrie got on the apron, distracting Sabin as he stood over Kidman. Sabin instantly walked up to the blonde bombshell, who was flirting with Sabin. Right as she was about to kiss Sabin, Kidman rolled him up from behind with a schoolboy and grabbed the tights as the ref counted the 1-2-3, not seeing Kidman grabbing the tights. After the match, Kidman quickly left the ring, as Sabin was back on his feet and angry! Kidman celebrated with Torrie as Sabin kicked the ring ropes and argued with the ref.

WINNER: BILLY KIDMAN

7. PAIN IS HIS GAME

We see Whiskey Marc sitting in a bar, all alone. He slams down a couple shots and lights a cigar. Marc explains that while all the wrestlers were out working out at late night gyms, eating right and training for their next match, he was here. Marc says he's not a conventional wrestler, because he doesn't have to be. He has no friends backstage, because he doesn't need anyone. All his life, it's always been him, and the two things that make him happy, drinking alchohol and kicking ass. That's why he's here, sitting in this bar. He's drinking his alchohol, and this Sunday, he'll be kicking ass. Does Booker T really think that he can beat him in a street fight? Booker may have grown up on the streets, but Marc lived on those streets. Booker T had a family he could go to, Marc didn't. Marc learned everything he knows living on the streets, and the only thing he knows is ass kicking. Whiskey Marc says that this Sunday, no matter what Booker T does to him, he won't feel any pain. All his life, he's felt all kinds of pain, and this Sunday, he's going to bring Booker T into his world. He's going to show Booker what true pain really feels like, because a wristlock and a 2 by 4 to the head are two different kinds of pain!

<0:94% Whiskey Marc gained overness from this segment. >

8. A NEW UPRISING

The Spanish Uprising's theme echoed throughout the arena as The Amazing Red came out, cruiserweight title in hand. He talked a lot of trash as he came out and pointed to the belt, showing it off. Shortly behind him, Juvi and Psychosis quietly made their way to the ring as well. All 3 got in the ring and Red took the Mic. Red said that the cruiserweight champ and Spanish Uprising were in the house. Red said that Spanish Uprising has a problem, he doesn't a match this Sunday at the pay per view. Juvi took the mic away from him instantly. Juvi said that actually that wasn't the real reason they're out here. Lately, him and Psychosis have felt left out. One of them has been hogging the spotlight as of late. Juvi says that's not what spanish uprising is about, so they're out there to rid themselves of a problem. All of a sudden, someone jumps the guardrail and hits the ring, Red turns around to see who it is, and Psychosis, Juvi and the man all attack Red. It's KONNAN!! It's a 3 on 1 mugging in the ring on the cruiserweight champion. Konnan and Psychosis hold Red and Juvi talks trash to him before punching him in the face a couple times. Juvi grabs Red and connects on a huge Juvi driver as the crowd is boo's these attacks on the cruiserweight champion. Psychosis goes to the top rope and leaps off the top, connecting on a huge legdrop. Finally, Konnan grabs him and locks in the Tequilla sunrise. Red is out of it at this point. All 3 men laugh as Juvi then Psychosis hug Konnan and look at the damage the've done to Amazing Red.

<0:83% Konnan gained overness from this segment. >

9. A CONCERNED MAN

Backstage, Mean Gene is with William Regal. Mean Gene asks Regal what he thinks will happen this Sunday. Regal, in a very calm, concerned, and perhaps a slightly scared manner, simply says that he doesn't know. He doesn't understand a lot of things in this world, but why would anyone want to take advantage of a person like Eugene. Eugene is a very special human being, and it breaks his heart what he must have had to go through these last few weeks. Regal says that all he hopes for Sunday is to know that Eugene is ok, nothing more, nothing less. He fears for Eugene's well being, and he can only hope for the best this Sunday.

<0:72%>

10. CM PUNK VS BOOKER T

Booker T comes out first and gets an absolutely huge response from the crowd. CM Punk makes his dramatic entrance and the crowd is all boo's. CM Punk takes early control of the matchup and the two spill to the outside early in the contest. CM Punk jumps off the apron and connects on an axehandle to the back of Booker T. CM tries to slam Book's head into the guardrail, but Book blocks it and sends Punk's forehead crashing into the rail a couple times as the ref isn't even counting either man out. Booker tries for a vertical suplex on the outside, but Punk reverses it with a Vertical suplex of his own onto Booker T onto the steel ramp. CM Punk gets in the ring and goes to the top rope and dives at Booker T, but misses and his jaw hits the guardrail. Booker rolls him in the ring, but only gets a two count.

Booker connects on huge chops to the chest before whipping Punk into the corner and connecting on a clothesline. Booker connects on a knee drop after a bodyslam, but only gets another two count. Book with an irish whip and puts the head down, but Punk catches him with a running knee to the face. CM Punk goes to the outside and connects on a springboard legdrop for a two. Book fights back and connects on Punk with a spinning heel kick and the knee drop to the face, but only gets two. Booker goes up top, but Punk catches him up top with an enziguri Punk connects with a super frankensteiner off the top turnbuckle, but only gets a two count. He sends him into the ropes, but they both connect on a double clothesline. Both make it up before the ref's 10 count, Booker counters punches with shots of his own, but CM rakes the eyes and connects on the Pepsi twist. Punk runs to the corner and connects on a crooked split legged moonsault, but Book grabs the ropes to break up the pin. Punk tries for a Pedigree, but Book reverses with a back body drop, then a side kick.

Book calls for Scissors kick, but CM rolls to the outside. Booker tries to follow him, but Punk gets back on the apron and pulls Book's head down onto the top rope. Punk gets back on the apron and waits for Booker to get up, He springboards into the ring, but Book catches him and delivers a spinebuster. Booker with a spinaroonie and he calls for the scissors kick again. He goes for a scissors kick, but Punk sidesteps and kicks him in the stomach, PEDIGREE!!!  Punk hooks the leg and makes the cover, 1...2...3!!! Punk wins, but he's not finished yet. He keeps kicking away on Booker, who's on the ground still. He's taking out his aggression on Booker.. but wait!! Here comes Cabana, racing down the ramp. Cabana gets in the ring and Punk goes for a clothesline, Cabana ducks and delivers right hands to Punk. Punk kicks him in the stomach and whips him into the ropes, HUGE clothesline by Cabana!! Cabana goes charging towards Punk, but Punk rolls out of the ring, he doesn't want any part of Cabana tonight. Cabana yells at Punk while standing on the ropes, and Punk yells back before walking up the ramp. Cabana checks on Booker as his music echoes throughout the arena.

WINNER: CM PUNK

<M:80% C:90% O:86%>

11. THE FINAL CONFRONTATION

Chris Jericho's music hits and his pyro goes off, and out comes the World and Tag team champion with both belts on his shoulders. He doesn't do his poses, he looks to be all business tonight as the crowd anxiously awaits what he has to say. Jericho throws down the titles and grabs a microphone. Jericho says that normally he wouldn't show up on a Thunder show because they're inferior to his show, Monday Night Jericho, but he has business to take care of tonight. He calls out Raven, telling him that if he has any Balls whatsoever, he'd come out and face him one on one. Raven doesn't show up after Jericho waits 10 seconds. Just as Jericho's about to say something, Raven's music hits and out comes the Flock leader to a series of boo's! Raven stands on the top of the ramp as his music plays throughout the arena. Jericho's sick of waiting and leaves the ring to go after him!! The two meet in the middle of the ramp and start hammering it out, connecting on shots on one another!! They tangle up and Jericho rolls him into the ring.

Jericho slides into the ring, but Raven kicks him as he's getting in. Raven picks him up and irish whips him, but Jericho comes back with a flying forearm. Raven gets to his feet and Jericho hammers away on him again, sending him into the corner. Jericho is all over Raven, stomping him into the corner. Jericho goes to the outside and grabs a chair. He gets back in the ring and swings it, but Raven ducks. Raven kicks him in the stomach and tries for an Evenflow DDT, but Jericho powers Raven back into the corner. Raven delivers shots to Jericho's back. He pushes jericho off of him. Jericho comes charging back and Raven kicks him in the stomach and irish whips him into the other corner. Raven connects on the clothesline Bulldog combo! GLASS SHATTERS!!!! Raven turns his attention to the entrance ramp as the crowd goes absolutely wild. Raven awaits the arrival of Steve Austin. After 10 seconds, Austin's music stops playing, Raven turns around and... SICKENING CHAIR SHOT BY JERICHO!!! Jericho throws down the chair, IT WAS A DISTRACTION!!! Jericho grabs the world title and stands above Raven yelling at him "you son of a bitch" and other trash talk. We fade out with Jericho holding the world title up in the air while standing above Raven.

The Ratings War

Written by James Dimaggio

Published in the Seattle Times

Friday, April 28th, 2006

The wrestling world saw a major shock this week as for the first time in nearly a decade, WWE, or World Wrestling Entertainment did not come out on top of the Monday Night Ratings war. Instead, newly recreated WCW, Or World Championship Wrestling scored a clean pinfall victory over WWE, scoring a whopping .2 higher rating with their show "Nitro" then WWE's show, "Raw"

The official Nielsen Ratings reveal that WCW Nitro scored a 6.27 share, which earned it the most watched show for this week in all of cable television. WWE Raw scored a 6.07 share, which is a very impressive rating, but WWE Owner Vince Mcmahon was irrate in an interview earlier this week.

"Sometimes you get into a certain frame of thinking and you think you know what the fans of your product want to see. And other times, you find out you've been misled all along. I've been misled," Said McMahon. McMahon also went on to say that he regrets business decisions he's made in the last year.

Meanwhile, WCW Owner Eric Bischoff was all smiles this week in a recent party held for WCW Management and staff. Bischoff was quoted as saying, "Now that we're back on top, we're staying here for good!"

Interestingly enough, the real wild card here is renegade wrestling promotion ECW, or Extreme Championship Wrestling. ECW drew a rating of 6.03 this week for their show "Hardcore Television". ECW owner Paul Heyman, known for his innovative style and ability to generate interest in his product at any given time, was said to be extremely happy with the ratings, but still feels there's room for improvement.

"Obviously I respect Vince Mcmahon as a wrestling promoter, but at the same time, he is my competition," Heyman said yesterday in an interview. "Personally, I won't be satisfied until ECW is on top of the wrestling world, and I expect us to be in that position very soon." Heyman went on to promote his product by saying that major changing are coming.

Professional wrestling has never been hotter and many experts are saying that the wrestling industry has only reached 80% of it's peak. Professional Wrestling expert and owner of nodq.com Aaron Rift recently said we can expect to see the Monday Night War's reach ratings in excess of 7.0.

"The professional wrestling craze is back," Rift said. "People are getting excited again because there's more then one or two promotions to turn to, so there's something for everyone. Whether you like sports entertainment, wrestling, violence, it's all there."

It should be noted that all three companie's ratings were up significantly from previous weeks.

World Heavyweight Title Match

RAVEN VS CHRIS JERICHO©

- I'm not sure who is really the face here, but I see Jericho going over simply because he kicks ass and he works better with the gold.

Street Fight

WHISKEY MARC VS BOOKER T

- Upset of the hardcore star leads to another match where he destroys Book.

US Title Match

CM PUNK VS COLT CABANA©

- I can't see Colt losing the belt yet. Besides, this feud has enough fire to keep it going a little longer.

Grudge Match

CHRISTIAN VS EDDIE GUERRERO

I'm going to go with Eddie simply because I've been voting for all the faces up to know. Besides, he needs a win to put him back in the spotlight, as he's been slipping. And Christian enough of a future that he can survive this one loss.

Pure Title Match

AUSTIN ARIES VS LOW-KI©

It's Fucking Ki.

Bonus(+1 point): How Many ropebreaks will Low-Ki have left at the end of the match (3,2,1,0) I'd say 2. I see Aries sneaking one in their and then Ki just going postal like he did with Deranged and kicking the living shit out of him. Ending with a nice Dragon Clutch all tied up in the ropes.

Television Title Match

SONNY SIAKI VS STEVIE RICHARDS©

- I know everyone said when Siaki first started that he resembled the Rock, but I would have never thought he would actually get over as him too. Isn't this gimmick infringement or something? Anyways, The Siak is hot right now, so I see him hitting The People's Front Flip Leg Drop for the win.

Grudge Match

SPANKY VS SHANE HELMS

*Dances* Doo doo doo doodoodoo Vertebreaker!!

WHO KIDNAPPED EUGENE: (+2 points) Vince Russo, who reveals that Eugene was the love child of Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff's sister, but Vince beat Eugene with his black baseball bat when he was little cause hey, he's from New Yawk!! *Actually, I'm voting for some kind of turn with Nick Dinsmore. Not sure if the captor himself was O'haire or not, though it could have been, with O'haire saying he was trying to free Eugene to his true self. But something along those lines.*

Hey, I remember the first couple of PPV's when the only criticism was that it was quite easy to predict who would win. I think its safe to say that ain't the case now! It is believable that anyone can win as has been shown by the variety of different predictions so far.
