NWATNA: On The Road

The only time I've ever heard Gabe speak was on the Forever Hardcore documentary. I doubt he's anything like the character I've portrayed him as. The Gabe character is really more my way of putting myself into it, I suppose. I figured having a heelish internet reporter would be fun and a bit of a departure from the first few monthly recaps.

Anyway, enjoy the Texas ShootOut and happy 2006 everyone!

T-Minus 10 Minutes: Texas ShootOut

By Jimmy Kirk

"Welcome to Beaumont, the site of tonight's Texas ShootOut!" Eric Shaffer said, standing in the parking lot, "I'm Eric Shaffer, your host for this week's pre-show. In approximately ten minutes, we'll be sending it inside for this tremendous show as NWATNA makes their debut here in the Lone Star state! If you're not able to be here live, you can still catch the action on pay-per-view for only $9.95!"

"Right now, I'm waiting the arrival of Ken Shamrock," he said, "By virtue of being on the winning team at Strength In Numbers, Shamrock has earned the right to control tonight's broadcast. Hopefully I'll be able to get a few comments from the man of the hour before the show actually begins. Tonight Ken... wait one second! Ladies and gentlemen, there's Jeff Jarrett!"

The shot panned over to see Jarrett walk into view, clutching a piece of paper. He walked with purpose into the parking lot, wearing an annoyed expression on his face. "Mr. Jarrett!" Eric said, "Eric Shaffer, member of the NWATNA broadcast team! Please can I get a comment? What are you doing here in the parking lot before the show? Are you going to be wrestling tonight? How does it feel to have once again lost the opportunity to be in the NWA Title match? Why...?"

"Shut up!" Jarrett shouted, "You're pissin' me off! I've got my reasons for being here and that's all you need to know, slapnut! Stand over there and shut up because I'm not in the mood to deal with you. You say one more word to me and I'll put your face through this concrete!" Shaffer shied away from Jarrett, wary of his threat. He turned to face the camera and took a breath, preparing to speak. "I said don't say anything!" Jarrett yelled, cutting him off. Just then... up pulled a van.

"About damn time," Jarrett said, "Hey! Ken! Get over here!" The door opened and out stepped Ken Shamrock, still visibly shaken from the piledriver he suffered two weeks ago. "Ken," Jarrett said as he slapped Shamrock on the shoulder, causing him to tense up and wince, "I just need a quick moment of your time. Sign this for me, man."

"What is this?" Shamrock asked, skimming the paper. "Just your standard contract," Jarrett said, "See? Corino and Severn have got the title match October 23rd. It's set. Nothing can change it. All this says is that my match on that night is for the #1 contendership. After I win my match... I get first crack at the new champion. All it needs is the signature of the man is charge." Ken shot Jarrett a suspicious glare. "Your match?" he said, "Against who?" Jarrett cracked a sinister smile. "Don't worry about it," he said, "Just sign it."

"You know, it wasn't long ago I asked you for a favor, Jeff," Ken said, "In fact... seven days ago. I told you I wanted Jerry Lynn in the ring. You remember that? I told you I wanted to make that loser pay. You remember what you told me? 'You could have a broken neck. Go see a doctor.' I don't need a doctor! I need to fight! Dislocated vertebrae or not... I need to make Jerry Lynn tap! You took that away from me. Why should I sign this?"

"Why?!" Jarrett asked, outraged by Ken's reply, "You want to know why? Let me ask you something... why do you think you're even in the position? It isn't because of you. It's because of me! While you were getting carted out... I led this team against all odds to victory! The fact that I'm even asking you is why you should do it! You want Jerry Lynn? You're the boss. You got him. Just remember... the reason you're the boss is because of me! YOU OWE ME!"

Ken scowled. "Fine,"he said, scribbling his signature on the paper, "You get your match, but now we're even. Next time you see me... turn around and run." Ken turned back, facing the van and pulled his bag out. Jarrett slapped him on the shoulder, causing him to nearly fall down in pain. "Thanks, Ken!" he said, "You're a good man!"

Jarrett walked off, leaving Ken to finish unpacking. Up walked Eric Shaffer for an interview. "Mr. Shamrock, I'm Eric Shaffer of the NWATNA broadcast team. Can you spare a moment to discuss tonight's events?" he asked, "We're all wondering what you've got in store as you assemble tonight's card. Before we send it inside, can you give us any info?"

"Yeah," Ken said, "Expect the unexpected. Tonight... somebody's going to get hurt. Come on, boys." With that, Shamrock shoved Shaffer out of the way. The camera panned down to the fallen announcer. "You okay?" the cameraman asked. In the corner of the frame, two unidentifiable figures climbed out of the van and closed the door. Eric groaned loudly as the preshow came to a close.

Dangerous Details: Texas ShootOut

By "Danger" Will Riker

"YEEEEE-HAW!" Don West exclaimed as the pay-per-view telecast, "Welcome to Texas and welcome to NWATNA action! Tonight, Ken Shamrock is in the driver's seat and for the next two hours... he calls the shots! Terry Funk is in the house, the second qualifying round in the Iron Team Challenge is on the way, Red takes on Christopher Daniels and a lot more! Mike, are you saddled up and ready to ride?!"

"Um... I guess?" Tenay answered meekly as Dan "The Beast" Severn's music hit, "Ken Shamrock has a lot of surprises in store for us and it's starting now! He's ordering Dan Severn to come to the ring to start off our show. Severn's coming off a big win last week in which he forced Steve Corino to tap out. If he can do that three weeks from tonight, he will be the new NWA World Champion."

Severn climbed into the ring and loosened up, then stared intensely at the entranceway. Unfamiliar music played and the curtain pulled back. Out stepped... Tito Ortiz, an up and coming star in the world of ultimate fighting. "A blast from the past for Severn!" Tenay said, "Tito Ortiz and Dan Severn are going to go head-to-head, not in an octagon, but in the squared circle of NWATNA! Ken Shamrock is obviously paying tribute to his roots here!"

DAN SEVERN vs. TITO ORTIZ

Severn instantly preyed upon Ortiz' uncomfortability with his new surroundings, locking up and taking him down to the mat. Severn moved into position to drive his knee into Tito's head but Ortiz managed to free himself and return to a vertical base. Severn quickly returned to the offense, hitting a German suplex. He again made an attempt to keep Tito on the mat but Ortiz was careful to keep his shoulders up, preventing the pinfall. After grappling for position, Tito moved towards the ropes and draped his foot over the bottom rope, forcing referee Mark Johnson to step in and order the break.

Ortiz got up, but Severn quickly doubled him over with a kick to the gut. He shot in, looking for the guillotine choke, but Ortiz threw a few quick punches to the ribs before Severn cinched it in, then tackled Dan with an STO. Tito began clubbing away with punches on Severn, but "The Beast" managed to pull off a surprise reversal and take Tito down, then do some damage of his own. "Mike, these guys are some vicious fighters," West said, "I suppose when you come from the world of mixed martial arts cage fights, it's to be expected, but I sure didn't expect this level of brutality!"

Severn pulled Tito up, then drove him down with a butterfly suplex. He made a cover but Ortiz narrowly escaped at two. Ortiz got up, then caught Severn with a hard punch to the stomach as he moved in for the kill. Tito relentlessly drove his shoulder into Severn's gut in the corner, not letting "The Beast" catch his breath. He pulled Severn out of the corner and whipped him into the ropes, then slung him back towards him, raising his knee and driving it deep into Severn's rib cage. Severn nearly collapsed from the impact, but Tito leapt up and wrapped his legs around Severn's torso, trapping him in a bodyscissor submission!

Severn fired off a few punches, but lacked any real power behind them. Ortiz' pressure on his lungs was simply too strong. Tito dropped to the mat, gaining even more leverage and forcing Severn to drop to his knees. Severn screamed in pain as Tito squeezed as hard as he could, posting his shoulders on the mat for even more leverage. The referee, in perfect position, counted to two before Tito raised his arm up. Severn quickly grabbed it and applied a wristlock, trying to force Tito to tap.

Ortiz hung in, maintaining his grip with the bodyscissors. Severn, gripping Tito's arm tightly, forced it to the mat, causing another pinfall. Tito simply raised his other arm... but it was a trap! As Tito reached across with his free arm, Severn quickly cradled Tito's head and locked on the guillotine choke! Ortiz broke the bodyscissor and struggled briefly, but inevitably gave up, giving Severn the win. "That's two in a row for 'The Beast' as he continues his march to the NWA 54th Anniversary!" Tenay said, "Can anyone escape that hold?!"

WINNER: Dan Severn via submission at 15:23

Johnson helped Severn to his feet and raised his arm in victory. "The Beast" winced as he did so, then clutched his aching ribs. Just then... Steve Corino hit the ring, brandishing a steel chair! He drove it into Dan's kidneys, then spun him around and nailed him in the gut! As Severn doubled over, Corino bashed him over the back with the weapon, causing him to collapse to the mat. He rolled Severn over, then opened the chair and propped it on top of him. Corino arrogantly sat down, resting his foot over Severn's face.

"Dan, Dan, Dan," he said into the microphone, "You poor, pathetic idiot. Do you really believe it when you hear people like Mike Tenay say you're going to be the next NWA champion? Do you believe it when they say you're going in with all the momentum? Why? Because I tapped out last week? Tell me, Dan... what did I have to lose, huh? Yeah, I gave up... so what?! It meant nothing! What you look at as conceding defeat, I look at as living to fight another day. That day... is October 23rd. Dan, I couldn't in good conscience allow you to walk into that match with a false sense of security, so I want you to listen closely..."

Corino moved his foot from Severn's face, then leaned down close as Severn spat a gob of blood onto the canvas, likely from internal injuries. "Dan," Corino said, "I guarantee you this one fact... I will never tap out when the title's on the line. I will never submit. I will never surrender. If that's your plan, and we all know it is, then know this... I would sooner DIE than give up the NWA Championship! Unless you are prepared to choke a man to death and then pin him, you are not prepared to beat me. You are not prepared to beat me, Dan... not when it matters. Enjoy your empty victory, because you deserve it, but just know it meant nothing. Not then. Not now. Not ever. Submission is not an option."

With that, Corino got up and left, allowing medical personnel to tend to Severn, who was bleeding profusely from his mouth. "These two are on a collision course!" Don West said, "Corino says he'll never give up when the title's on the line... but who is he trying to convince? Is it Severn... or is it himself? Either way, by the looks of Severn at this moment, I think it's safe to say the momentum has once again shifted into Corino's favor." As the doctors assisted Severn to the back, a brief video package aired.

"Take a look at some of this footage, fans," Tenay said as grainy video of a one-legged high-flyer aired, "His name is Tenacious Z and for the past few months, he's been making quite a name for himself on the Michigan independent wrestling circuit. What sets this man apart, as you can see, is the fact that at eight years old, he lost his leg to cancer. Tonight, Tenacious Z makes his NWATNA debut, proving that with the proper drive and determination... all things are possible."

ITC QUALIFYING ROUND MATCH

TENACIOUS Z & CHRIS SABIN vs. MICHAEL SHANE & CODEKILL

Tenacious Z started the match for his team, taking on Michael Shane. Z smiled from ear to ear in the ring, then hopped forward and extended his hand to Shane respectfully. Shane, insulted by the gesture, slapped the taste out of his mouth! Z struggled to maintain his balance, hopping backwards a bit. Shane laughed at his opponent's misfortune... then tasted Z's one-legged dropkick! "Take that, Michael Shane!" Don West exclaimed.

Z scrambled to cover the stunned Shane, but Michael kicked out at two. Tenacious Z hooked on a chinlock, but Shane fought his way up, then backed Z into the corner and tagged in Codekill. The 300-pound behemoth stepped through the ropes into the ring, then dropped on all fours before Z, serving a springboard for Shane. Shane charged, jumped off of 'Kill's back and nailed Z with a dropkick!

Codekill grabbed Z by the hair and flung him to the mat. He then climbed the turnbuckle and slowly walked his way across the middle rope to the center. Once there, he stepped up to the top and leapt off, crushing Z under his weight with a splash! "It's got to be over," West said, "One, two... kickout?! How the hell did this kid get out of that?!"

Frustrated, 'Kill dropped an elbow and made a cover. After a two-count, he dropped another elbow and made another cover. After another two-count, he dropped a third elbow and made a third cover... only to see a third kickout! Codekill hoisted Z up onto his shoulders, positioning him for his Codebreaker finisher. Tenacious Z, in a last ditch effort to turn the tide, reversed the move into a DDT, spiking 'Kill's head into the canvas! "Come on, kid!" West cried out as Z slowly crawled his way to Sabin for the tag.

"Chris Sabin, a fellow standout in the Michigan indies, is about to show us just what he can do!" Tenay said as Sabin hopped the rope and charged Codekill, firing off punches. He whipped him into the ropes, then nailed him with a flying clothesline, taking the big man down. Sabin hopped the rope and positioned himself on the apron, then sprang up to the top and blasted Codekill with a dropkick. Sabin made a cover, but Codekill kicked out. Before 'Kill could even get up, Sabin hooked his feet and flipped forward into yet another pinning combination. Again, Codekill kicked out.

Sabin wrung Codekill's arm, then tagged in Z who pulled himself to the top rope. Sabin stretched Codekill's arm out as Z hopped off the top, crashing down with a double axe handle to the shoulder. With Codekill dazed, Z went up top for his impressive finisher, a one-legged springboard moonsault. He leapt off... then was caught in mid-air by Codekill! 'Kill slung Z over his shoulder, then twisted him into position and dropped him with the Codebreaker! "That's it," West said, "One, two... NO! My God! Where does this kid get this energy from?!"

On the apron, Michael Shane demanded a tag. He climbed up top and dropped the Picture Perfect Elbow deep into the heart of Tenacious Z. He hooked the obvious leg... but again Z kicked out! "What's it going to take?" West asked, sincerely impressed by the tenacious one's tenacity. As Sabin tried to fire up the crowd... Shane walked over and slapped him! Enraged, Sabin charged into the ring to confront Shane. The referee stepped in, stopping Sabin. Behind his back, Codekill entered the ring and hoisted Z up for a spinebuster. He held him in position as Shane bounced off the ropes, leapt up and blasted Z with Sweet Shane Music! By the time the ref turned back around, 'Kill was long gone and all he saw was the pinfall.

WINNERS: Michael Shane & Codekill via pinfall at 17:02

Michael Shane and Codekill, the second team to qualify for the Iron Team Challenge, left the ring in celebration. Chris Sabin followed shortly after, upset that his actions had cost the team. Tenacious Z saluted the crowd briefly before moving towards the ropes, intending to exit. Just then... Jeff Jarrett's music hit! Jarrett, clutching the paper first seen in the pre-show, smiled as he walked down the aisle to the ring.

"Tenacious Z," Jarrett said, "Today, sir, is the luckiest damn day of your life! Kid, you have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a star! What I have in my hands, it's the golden opportunity you've been waiting for. I'm sure there were times in your life you felt like giving up, calling it quits. Tonight, I'm going to make it all worth it! Three weeks from tonight, the biggest night in NWATNA history, you are going to go one-on-one with the 'chosen one'. You win, you get the biggest opportunity of your life... an NWA Title match!"

"My God!" Tenay said, "This is what Jarrett's planned? He's trying to steal a title match any way he can. This kid is impressive. Heck, he's an inspiration... but we'd have to be ridiculous to believe he could go into the ring with Jarrett and win." Jarrett held out the document, attached to a clipboard, with one hand and a pen in the other. "Go ahead, kid," Jarrett said, "Make your dreams come true."

Z took the pen in one hand, then asked for the microphone. "Wow," he said, "I don't know what to say, Mr. Jarrett. This is the biggest thing that's ever happened to me. Thank you so much for this opportunity, really." Jarrett smiled and patted Z on the shoulder. "Unfortunately," he continued, "If there's one thing I've learned from tonight, it's that I've got a long way to go in my wrestling career. I'm nowhere near ready for this opportunity. I know that if you work hard, good things will happen. I'm not done working hard, Mr. Jarrett. I'm going to keep trying though. Rest assured... someday I will stand in the ring to face you and someday I will challenge for the NWA Title. Just not yet. I'm not ready."

"Not ready?!" Jarrett shouted, snatching the microphone away, "I don't think you understand your role in this process. I am the 'chosen one', understand? That means that if NWATNA is going to thrive, I need to be the center... I need to be the champion. Okay? The championship committee have continually thrown obstacle after obstacle in my way, trying to stop me. You see... you're not supposed to win, kid. Your role is the lamb that is fed to the lion. Trust me, you're ready for that. You've been training for it since birth. Hell, looking at your leg... it looks like this lion is getting somebody else's leftovers."

"Ugh!" Tenay exclaimed, "Jeff Jarrett has absolutely no class!" Jarrett thrust the contract into Z's face, demanding he sign it. "I'm sorry," Z said, "I'm not ready." Jarrett scowled. "Not ready? To get your ass kicked?" he asked, "You're plenty ready! I'll prove it!" With that, Jarrett smacked Z upside the head with the clipboard! He tripped Z and began putting the boots to him. He threw the contract down in front of his face, then stomped his face onto it. "Sign it!" he shouted as he ground Tenacious Z's face into the paperwork.

Just then... the lights went out! The crowd began roaring as a spotlight shone on the rafters and a dark figure slowly lowered into the ring. "Oh my God!" Tenay screamed, "He's back! He's back! Sting is back in NWATNA!" The lights returned as Sting landed in the ring, then unhooked his harness. He lunged towards Jarrett menacingly and pulled a bat out from his coat. Jarrett, sensing the obvious danger, ducked out of the ring. "Sting makes the save for a lucky Tenacious Z," Tenay said, "Thank goodness Sting decided to surprise us tonight."

Sting knelt over Z and checked on him as Jarrett looked on from ringside. Z writhed in pain as he reached up... and handed Sting the pen! "What's this?" Tenay asked as Sting stepped back. Z sat up weakly and held up the clipboard, offering it to Sting. Sting took it and looked into the crowd, somewhat stunned. They immediately began chanting "Sign it! Sign it!"

"No! No, don't!" Jarrett shouted at ringside as the crowd became deafening. Sting lifted the pen to the paper and quickly signed it, then raised it over his head as the crowd went wild. Jarrett fell to his knees, nearly in tears. "Mike, does this mean what I think it means?!" West asked, "Three weeks from tonight, Jeff Jarrett takes on... Sting?! Holy cow! If the NWA 54th Anniversary wasn't stacked enough, it is now!" The crowd cheered for Sting as he helped Tenacious Z up, then assisted him to the back. Jarrett watched on in stunned silence, then followed their trail, walking backstage like a condemned man walking to an execution.

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. THE AMAZING RED

Daniels started off aggressively, hoping to use this match as a tune-up for his X-Division Title showdown with Jushin Liger in three weeks. He floored Red with a quick series of spinning kicks, then made a cover. Red kicked out but Daniels went right to work on Red's knee, trying to keep the high-flyer grounded. He tied Red in a leg clutch submission hold, but Red made it to the ropes and broke the hold.

Daniels continued targeting the knee, but Red fought back, bashing Daniels in the face with his other knee. Red scored with an enzuigiri, then flattened Daniels with a twisting flip senton. He made the cover, but Daniels kicked free. Daniels fired a few punches at Red, then hooked him up for Last Rites. Red broke free of the move, but Daniels tied up him again, this time in position for Angel's Wings. Daniels hoisted Red up into a vertical position, but Red curled forward, wrapping his legs around Daniels' head. He broke his arms free and sat up, preparing to deliver a huracanrana to the "Fallen Angel".

Daniels struggled to maintain control, perhaps looking to hit a counter powerbomb. Red hopped from Chris' shoulders and caught him under the arms with his legs, setting up for the Code Red flip bomb. As Daniels bent over, he grabbed the ropes, prevented Red's momentum from flipping him over. Red lost his balance as Daniels rushed forward, charging through the ropes and causing Red to spill over the top rope to the floor!

The referee began counting both men out as they struggled to pull it together outside the ring. Daniels recovered first and headed towards the ring while the disoriented Red began crawling away from it. As Daniels broke the ten-count, Red snapped to. He quickly grabbed a chair and rushed into the ring... then waffled Daniels with it! "It's over!" Tenay shouted as the bell rang, "The referee isn't going to stand for that."

WINNER: Christopher Daniels via disqualification at 13:50

Red wasn't finished. After delivering a few more blows to Daniels with the chair, he unfolded it and wedged his head in it, eerily reminiscent to his infamous attack on Rey Misterio Jr. months prior. The referee, Billy Silverman, tried to step up but Red callously punched him, then drove his knee into his face in the corner. Several other officials rushed to Daniels' aid, but Red's flurry of punches sent them all down one by one. With no resistance in sight, Red began scaling the ropes. As he reached the top... Rey Misterio Jr.'s music hit!

Red smiled and glanced towards the entranceway, then held up his hand and middle finger towards it. "Red set this up!" Tenay said, "He's trying to send a message to whoever pulled that stunt at Strength In Numbers." As Daniels lay helpless, about to have his cranium pulverized... a man wearing a large hooded sweatshirt jumped the guard rail and attacked Red! Red was crotched on the turnbuckle as the man climbed up, firing right hands at him. As the two scuffled, the fallen referees recovered enough to drag Daniels from the ring. Red raised his hands, trying to block the barrage of fists flying at his face. He reached up and grabbed the man's hood, then locked eyes with him... and froze.

"What is going on?" Tenay asked as the mystery man leapt up and delivered a huracanrana off of the top rope on the amazed Red. Red sprang up off the canvas, still wide-eyed and open-mouthed, and charged for the ropes, trying to escape. The hooded man charged the ropes as well, grabbing them and swinging between them, plowing his feet into Red's face! Red reeled from the blow and hit the mat, then scrambled out of the ring. He tried to fight through the sea of officials... but the hooded man dove over the top rope and collided into all of them!

"Mike, look at that frame," West said, "Look at this guy's size and speed. Mike, there's only one man on this planet that could be and I'm calling it right now... Rey Misterio Jr. has returned to NWATNA!" Rey grabbed Red and continued brawling with him up the aisle as the referees tried desperately to break up the melee. The mob slipped backstage as the crowd began chanting "Welcome back! Welcome back!"

"You're right, Don," Mike said, "That has to be Rey. It's obvious he's come back for revenge on The Amazing Red... but how?! Rey's career was ended in Memphis this July. I can't believe after that heinous attack, Rey Misterio Jr. has returned." "Seeing is believing, Mike," West said, "And believe it or not... you just saw the return of Rey Misterio Jr.!"

The crowd began to simmer down when... The Honky Tonk Man's music hit. HTM strode out to the ring for this week's Honky Talk. "Beaumont, welcome to the greatest show on Earth!" he said, "It's not the circus, baby... it's Honky Talk! For those of you who have been living under a rock, for the past few months, NWATNA has been the stage for an epic war. Tonight, I'm going to see if I can't get a little hunka-hunka-burnin' peace goin' on! Please welcome my first guest... Brian Kendrick!"

Kendrick ran to the ring, slapping hands and soaking up the cheers of the crowd. He climbed into the ring and shook HTM's hand. "Great to see you, Brian," HTM said, "Before we get started, let me welcome an old friend of Honky Talk... K-Krush!" K-Krush's music hit and out he came, getting a rather unfavorable reaction from the fans. Krush sneered at the Beaumont natives as he walked to the ring, then entered it.

"Okay, you two," Honky said, "I'm sensing a lot of bad blood, and some tension as well, goin' on here. I want to know... what's the problem with you two?" Honky passed the mike to Kendrick. "Hey, Honky, it's simple," he said, "K-Krush has had a problem with me since I walked in the door. Now, I'm okay with that. Not every wrestler in NWATNA has to like me. I'm not here for them. I'm here for the fans. However, Krush... interfering in my matches? Attacking me backstage? Enough is enough!"

HTM took the microphone from Kendrick and handed it to Krush. "Yo, shut up!" he said to the raucous crowd, "Listen here, Spanky... I haven't liked you from the moment I saw you. The last thing NWATNA needs is another skinny cracker like you runnin' around and causin' trouble. I gave you a chance to leave, but you were just too stupid to take it. You got the championship committee and all these fans fooled. You don't fool me, Spanky. You ain't nothin' but a white, pretty boy bitch wantin' to play a man's game."

"Whoa, there!" HTM said, "That's pretty harsh criticism, man. Now, I'm not any kind of authority or anything but I think NWATNA needs all the talent it can get. When I look around this ring, I see a lot of talent. I see a talented and charismatic star in you, K-Krush. I see a lot of talent and potential in Brian Kendrick. Most of all, I see the talent and ability I see every morning when I look in the mirror! Damn, baby... I'm all the talent NWATNA needs!"

"Whatever," Krush said, "By the end of this best-of-five series, these fans are only going to remember one of our names, Spanky. It sure as hell ain't goin' to be you. I brought you here tonight for a reason. I'm sure you remember last week... match two. I won it, bitch. That means I make the call for match three. I could pick anything. Submission match? Ladder match? Hardcore match? Well, I made my choice. Tonight, you and me... in a 'battle rap challenge'! Get ready to step into my world, white boy!"

K-Krush's theme music hit and Krush began to rap the lyrics, playing it up to the crowd as he did so:

"Jammin' with a ripped up, big, black, Incredible Hulk

Still top-rated, number one

My little boy tell me that I'm better than the Pokemon

Never proclaim but they say I'm really dangerous

Anybody know me, they fear K-Krush

Drivin' them fists, gettin' smacked and jammin'

Boom! I make everybody slam it, God dammit!

What's my name? What's my name? Hush.

Nothin' can prepare ya for K-Krush

K-Krush gonna move some thangs

Deal with it before and I'm-a do it again

What's my name? What's my name? Hush!"

He finished to a loud chorus of boos at which he raised a pair of middle fingers to the audience. "Go on, bitch," Krush said, as he turned to Kendrick, "Beat that shit!" Kendrick took the mike and cleared his throat, then the music started up. "I... I..." he stammered, "I... I can't do this. I'm sorry." The crowd booed Kendrick's statement as Krush looking on, smiling.

"What's wrong?" Honky Tonk Man asked. "It's just... well..." Kendrick said, "Brian Kendrick just isn't a rapper." Kendrick walked away and left the ring, then approached a fan in the front row. He swiftly whipped off the guy's baseball cap and rushed back into the ring. He put it on, then turned it sideways. "No, Brian Kendrick can't rap," he said, "But... M.C. Spanky can!" The crowd cheered as the music resumed and Kendrick began rapping:

"What's your name? What's your name? Gee...

Didn't you used to be Booker T?

Oh, no. I'm sorry. That just can't be

Because he actually made it somewhere in WWE!

Seriously, though... I love the militant black guy act

Too bad Faarooq called and said he wanted it back!

It's pay-per-view and they never ever bleep you

So swear like you did when Vince decided not to keep you!

Challenge me to battle rap? Wow, that takes balls

Hey, did Road Dogg let you keep those overalls?

What's your name? It used to be K-Kwik

Now it's K-Krush but you still suck di..."

"Time's up!" HTM shouted, just before things got out of hand, "Okay, folks! It's up to you! Who wins the battle rap challenge? Is it K-Krush?" The crowd jeered heavily, enraging Krush. "Or..." HTM continued, "Is it Brian Kendrick?!" The crowd cheered, giving Kendrick an easy victory in the battle rap. As Honky raised Kendrick's hand in victory... Krush rushed across the ring and attacked him!

Krush grabbed Kendrick and delivered the N-Bomb, then shoved HTM to the mat before turning and walking away. The crowd booed him feverishly, but the ever-dismissive Krush simply shrugged it off and continued walking. In the ring, Kendrick slowly got to his feet and took up the microphone. "Hey! K-Krush!" he shouted, "I'm sick of this! Every time we meet, it seems you always turn around and walk away. What are you... scared? I'm done watching you walk away. I won this tonight, which means next week, I pick the stipulation for match four. I'm not giving you any more chances to escape. You and me... inside a fifteen-foot high steel cage!"

Krush scowled at Kendrick, then kept walking to the back. As Kendrick left the ring, Honky picked up the microphone. "There you have it!" he said, "Brian Kendrick goes up two-to-one in the best-of-five and next week, he has a chance to end it all in the cage! That's just a small part of the action next week. Sadly, because there's such a packed card in Galveston, Honky Talk will be pre-empted for one week. Fear not because we'll be back, live from San Antonio, on October 16! Until then... thank you... thank you very much."

Kendrick paused during his exit and returned to the center of the ring. HTM looked confused as Kendrick picked up the baseball cap... then placed it on Honky's head sideways. He pumped his fist in the air and shouted "Honky Rap! Honky Rap!" Soon, the crowd joined the chant, egging on HTM. "Y'all want to see the Honky Tonk Man get funky?" he asked, which was met with resounding approval, "Okay! Give me something funky to groove to!" Music hit, but instead of hip-hop or country... it was the hard rock sounds of Terry Funk's entrance music!

"We're going to get funky all right!" Don West said as Terry Funk stepped through the curtain. He wore a simple T-shirt, slacks and a pair of glasses, hardly seeming like the "hardcore icon" of NWATNA. Funk walked to the ring as Kendrick made a quiet exit. In the ring, Funk stared down HTM briefly, causing Honky to take off running. As he sped off, Terry grabbed the baseball cap and flung it back into the audience from whence it came.

"Ahem," Funk said, "If you good people don't mind, I've been asked to speak here tonight on behalf of my family. This will only take a moment, okay? I'd like to read a statement written by my brother Dory's wife, Marti." With that, Terry reached into his pocket, produced a piece of paper, unfolded it and began reading aloud.

"Four weeks ago, in Pensacola, Florida, Dory Funk Jr. resigned from his station within the NWA Championship Committee," Funk read, "While this decision may have seemed at the time to be rash, please know it was not made lightly. Careful consideration was put into this decision by several parties and in the end, when all possible outcomes of Dory's continued association with NWATNA were weighed, this course of action made sense as the most dignified action he could take. The stress of keeping order in a promotion as chaotic as NWATNA has weighed heavily on our family for months. All we ask at this time is the employees and fans of NWATNA respect our decision and continue to support this organization and it's new leadership. Thank you." He finished, then folded the paper again in his hand.

"That's what it says," he said, "And speaking on behalf of the Funk family, I must say... every word of it is BULLSHIT!" Terry crumpled the paper and threw it down, then stomped on it. "You people deserve the truth," he said, "Well, here it is. The NWA Board Of Directors has elected a new member to the NWA Championship Committee and has asked that person to help run things here in NWATNA. That's it! Dory heard this and quit! Dory, I know you're watching this. They weren't firing you. You blew this way out of proportion."

"That's not what pisses me off though," he continued, "You come out here... and quit? We do not come from a family of quitters! Do you people know how many times I've been told to quit this business? We don't quit, Dory. You helped teach me that. Now, you send me out here to explain to everyone? Bullshit! Next week, Galveston... you come out here and explain yourself, big brother. I'm not asking you as an NWATNA employee, I'm asking you as your brother. If you really want to leave all this, show up next week and do it with some dignity. If not... I know where you are and I'll come and get you! I'll drag you into this ring and make you explain!"

With those harsh words, Funk threw down the mike and stormed out. "What did we just see?" Don West asked, "Terry Funk is outraged about his brother quitting... and has called him out? I thought when I saw a one-legged wrestler, I'd seen it all. Then, when I saw Sting return, I'd thought I'd seen it all. Then, when I saw Rey Misterio Jr., a man I never thought I'd see again, I'd thought I'd seen it all. Now, I've seen Terry Funk call out his brother next week! I'd say I've seen it all now, but... I'm getting the feeling I haven't seen anything yet!"

"You might be right," Mike Tenay said, "Next week is going to be incredible... but we've still got our main event to go!" Jerry Lynn's music hit and out he came, garnering a decent ovation from a surely exhausted crowd. Lynn entered the ring, waiting for his opponent. Ken Shamrock's music played and he stepped out from behind the curtain... wearing street clothes. Shamrock held a microphone in his hand and wore a sinister grin on his face.

"I told you last week tonight's match would have only one rule," he said, "There MUST be a winner. I also told you it would be Shamrock versus Lynn... but I didn't say which Shamrock! Ladies and gentlemen, from San Bernardino, California... Frank Shamrock!" Again, Ken's music played and his brother Frank, a UFC lightweight champion having just finished his first pro wrestling tour in Japan with NOAH, marched to the ring to begin the main event.

"THERE MUST BE A WINNER" MATCH

JERRY LYNN vs. FRANK SHAMROCK

"Ken pulled a fast one on Lynn," Tenay said, "We all know about the dislocated vertebrae in Ken's neck. I'm sure Jerry wasn't planning on facing a man who was 100% tonight. This was a set-up, pure and simple. Brilliant strategy by Ken... but will it pay off?" Frank rushed Lynn at the bell, but Jerry side-stepped him. He ducked a pair of clotheslines, then floored Frank with a spinning heel kick. Lynn tried to hit an elbowdrop, but Frank rolled out of the way.

Frank surprised Lynn with a dropkick, then battled Lynn back into the corner. He whipped Lynn into the turnbuckle... but ate a boot when he charged in at him! Lynn hopped up onto the top rope and kicked Frank again, then grabbed his head and drove him into the mat with a killer tornado DDT! He made a cover, but Frank raised his shoulder at two. Lynn signaled out to the crowd he was looking to end it all, then reached down to pull Frank up. In a stunning reversal... Frank grabbed Lynn's wrist and wrapped his legs around his shoulder, cinching in a triangle armbar!

"This could be the crucial mistake Shamrock's been waiting for!" Tenay said as Frank began cranking away on the arm, trying to force a submission. Lynn stood over him, trying to maneuver his shoulders down to no avail. Frank continued to slowly tear away at Lynn's shoulder when Lynn decided to make a final desperate attempt. Using every bit of power he could muster, he hoisted Shamrock up off the canvas by his waist... then sat out, driving Frank head-first into the mat in an extremely sloppy but effective makeshift cradle piledriver! Three seconds later, Lynn scored the pin and got the win.

WINNER: Jerry Lynn via pinfall at 5:41

Before Lynn could even begin a post-match celebration... Ken Shamrock struck! He quickly belly-to-belly suplexed Lynn down, then hooked on an anklelock! As Lynn writhed in agony, Frank returned to his armbar, again working on Lynn's shoulder. "The Shamrocks are taking Jerry Lynn apart!" Tenay said, "Somebody stop this!" Once again, the backstage crew rushed out to peel the boss and his brother off of the helpless, yet victorious, Jerry Lynn. "Fans, we're out of time!" he said, closing out the wild show, "Thank you for joining us. Please be a part of Breaking & Entering, live from Galveston next week! Until then, this is Mike Tenay, for Don West, saying good night and remember... this is NWATNA, and you ain't seen nothin' yet!" "YEEEEE-HAW!" West exclaimed as the show faded out.

Okay, now I got a kick out of the battle rap, so you may have just gotten me interested. Also Corino taking a more serious turn got a thumbs up from me. The rest of the show seemed kind of bland. Something tells me that's not Mysterio though. Shane/Kill winning works as well, and Jarrett/Tenacious/Sting segment was pretty good, but not great.

You know what?? This diary is great!!

I only was reading 2 diaries and wasn't sure if I had time for another one, but this one has changed my mind!!

I love TNA and this one done with a big nod to the NWA of old has made me a believer again!!

Dusty, and the Funks?? Great tip of the hat to the past man!!

Rock n Rolls? My favorite tag team ever and perfect to shut up Dos Locos... will we see a third match between them??

If we do, might I suggest a Scaffold Match??

Pros:

I love Sting and was starting to wonder where he had been, and rescuing Z was perfect... Z handed the contract to Him and Jarrett's reaction was priceless!!!! I can't wait for this showdown to continue!!

Your use of Tres Locos and Christopher Daniels seems to be spot on!

I loved how you featured ROH, unlike some others, and was surprised when you bought them out.

Jushin Liger? One of the best ever and a PERFECT stalwart of the X Division at this point.

Cons:

While I can't stand Michael Shane... you have me hating him like a good heel needs to be hated.

I don't like the K-Krush/ Kendrick thing, but I continue to read it as it is entertaining.. and I hope that K-Krush actually wins the damn thing.

EDIT: Could it be?? Is Rey Rey back???

Next: Breaking & Entering

By Katy-Jayne Myers

At Strength In Numbers, three men earned the chance to control NWATNA. This Wednesday, the third and final member of that team, Barry Windham, takes his turn. What surprises will Windham have in store for the stars of NWATNA? Find out this Wednesday, live from Galveston!

Reports say Jeff Jarrett has consulted various attorneys and will continue to do so in an attempt to escape the contract signed by Sting last Wednesday. As it stands now, Jarrett will face Sting on October 23rd. Only one man has the power to change that... and he happens to be one of Jarrett's closest friends! How will this all play out?

Rey Misterio Jr. made his shocking return to NWATNA last Wednesday, attacking The Amazing Red. Once believed to be out of the sport for good, it seems Rey's quest for vengeance has brought him back to NWATNA. Will it bring him to Galveston this Wednesday?

In match four of the best-of-five series, Brian Kendrick takes on K-Krush... within the confines of a steel cage! It's do or die for Krush. Will he have what it takes to bring this series to a final round or will Kendrick end it all in Galveston?

Terry Funk demands the presence of his brother, Dory Funk Jr. at Breaking & Entering. Will the former member of the NWA Championship Committee show up or is he truly done with NWATNA?

Former WCW superstar Kevin Sullivan will be attending the event Wednesday as he prepares to referee the all-important NWA World Title match just 18 days from now! Will the diabolical Sullivan be able to call it down the middle? His actions this Wednesday should be a good implication.

Three weeks before his one-on-one showdown with Jushin Liger, Christopher Daniels locks horns with arch-rival Michael Shane! Plus, Barry Windham has promised newcomers Hope & Cade the opportunity to show the crowd what they can do. All this and a whole lot more, Wednesday night! Just $9.95 gets you all the action and excitement of NWATNA. Don't miss it!

NWARoH Glory By Honor DVD Review

By Bill Banks

IPB Image

On Sale November 16th

Glory By Honor: Two Roads To Glory is the second release by NWARoH and features exclusive footage of the Glory By Honor event filmed on October 5th, 2002. Chris Lovey and Gary Michael Cappetta provide commentary for all of the matches.

1. JUST ADD ANARCHY

When the match was made for Glory By Honor between Xavier and Doug Williams, most believed it was strictly a battle over the NWARoH Title. However, during the opening moments of the show, it was revealed that Williams' quest to win the match was about more than the gold.

- Xavier came out to open the show, wearing the NWARoH Title.

Xavier: "Everybody! Listen up and listen good! This belt around my waist means only one thing. I am the hunted, not the hunter. Everyone in the back wants a piece of me and a shot at this title. I say... get in line, boys! You want a shot? You got it!"

- Doug Williams' music hit and he came out.

Anarchist: "Well, well, well... what do we have here? Already you're looking ahead to your championship reign. Well... stop! Xavier, you're not going to HAVE a championship reign. I'll admit that when I came here to NWARoH, it was to get that title... but that was because Low-Ki was a champion I could respect! Beating you? Where's the glory in that?"

Xavier: "Talk all you want! Tonight, when you and I go head-to-head in the ring, I'll prove to you and the world just how far I'll go to keep this title belt! I will be a fighting champion!"

Anarchist: "No, you won't. You won't be champion at all. When the history of NWARoH is written, you'll be nothing more than a footnote, Xavier. You'll be the guy between Low-Ki and the man who took NWARoH to the next level... 'The Anarchist' Doug Williams!"

- Williams then left to prepare for the title match!

- Rating: 62%

Runtime: 11 minutes

2. THE YOUNG LIONS ARE UNLEASHED

The Young Lions' Cup tournament kicked off in Glory By Honor's opening bout. Four of the top young stars from around the nation battled it out for a chance to stay alive and eventually secure a shot at the NWARoH Title. Representing the north was Indiana's Chad Collyer. Representing the south was Georgia's Adam Jacobs. Representing the east was South Carolina's Shelton Benjamin. Representing the west was the California native, Super Dragon, famed for his matches in XPW and Japan's Toryumon. In the end, one of these wrestlers bid a disappointed farewell after a thrilling contest.

- The rules stated whoever was pinned or submitted was eliminated.

- Super Dragon hit the Psycho Driver on Collyer... but Jacobs broke up the pin.

- It became apparent that Jacobs and Collyer had formed an alliance.

- Benjamin hit Dragon with an exploder suplex over the top to the floor!

- Benjamin had Jacobs pinned but Collyer made the save.

- Collyer went to hit Benjamin with a superkick... but missed and hit Jacobs!

- Benjamin hit a superkick of his own, then pinned Collyer!

- Chad Collyer has been eliminated!

- Rating: 51% (CR: 41, MQ: 74)

Runtime: 22 minutes

3. THROWING IN THE TOWEL

What started as a simple one-on-one match may have just started a war that could affect countless lives! One-half of the Natural Born Sinners, Homicide, took on Paul London in a special "seconds" match. Each wrestler had another wrestler at ringside to second them. This match turned ugly in a hurry... even before the entrances! You've got to see it to believe it!

- The Sinners jumped Paul London and his second, Bryan Danielson, before the match.

- Homicide beat the living hell out of London but refused to pin him.

- London mounted a short comeback, but missed the shooting star press.

- Homicide hit the Cop Killa, knocking London cold!

- Homicide still refused to pin him and stomped at his head.

- Bryan Danielson ran out and threw in the towel for London, ending the match!

- Rating: 50% (CR: 48, MQ: 65)

Runtime: 14 minutes

4. THE ROAR OF A DRAGON

After the end of a brutal contest, it was "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson's turn to speak. Danielson had some harsh words for The Natural Born Sinners... including a challenge. Some were left wondering if Danielson had bitten off more than he could chew, but after seeing this incredible challenge set forth, Danielson must have a plan in mind!

- Danielson chased the Sinners away as London was carted out on a stretcher.

Danielson: "Homicide! Boogaloo! Enough of this! The 'code of honor' may have been taken down... but this is STILL Ring of Honor! You two want to work together as a team? Fine! You're not going to do it against one man like you did tonight! November 16th at Scramble Madness... show up. I'll be there... with a partner!"

- The Sinners smiled as they walked away, unconcerned about Danielson's warning.

- Rating: 53%

Runtime: 4 minutes

5. THE BATTLE FOR MIKEY WHIPWRECK

After banishing Mikey Whipwreck from NWARoH at last month's Unscripted, Little Guido Maritato was forced to give Mikey a chance to return. If Brian XL, one of Whipwreck's top pupils, could defeat Maritato, Whipwreck would be allowed back into NWARoH. Will we see the return of Mikey? Find out at the conclusion of this great bout!

- Guido totally embarassed XL throughout the match.

- He hit the Slice and put him away in no time.

- Mikey Whipwreck is STILL banished from NWARoH!

- Rating: 56% (CR: 52, MQ: 74)

Runtime: 8 minutes

6. WAR FOR THE GOLD

In a match for the NWARoH Title, the champion, Xavier, made his first official defense against the technical grappler from the U.K., "The Anarchist" Doug Williams. The new champion had much to prove, not only to his opponent, but to many fans watching who were still unsure if he was a worthy champion or not. In the end, it came down to who wanted it more. Would it be the brave defending champion or the cocky challenger? See for yourself!

- Surprisingly short bout, but back and forth all the way.

- Xavier worked on the knee but missed a 450 splash.

- Williams hit a crushing gutbuster from the top rope!

- Xavier reversed the Chaos Theory into his patented facebuster, Kiss Your X Goodbye!

- Xavier hit the 450 Degrees Of Fear and got the pin to retain the gold!

- Rating: 56% (CR: 50, MQ: 77)

Runtime: 12 minutes

7. INTERGENDER TAG ACTION

The war between Simply Luscious and Prince Nana heated up in this one. Luscious, along with A.J. Styles, took on the Michinokus, TAKA and his wife, Allison Danger. With Nana at ringside, the fan favorite duo had a hill to climb, but with momentum from Unscripted on their side, they were determined to do it. The battle of the sexes continues to rage on in NWARoH and it gets no hotter than this match!

- This match seemed to go on a rather long time.

- TAKA and Allison worked together as a team, dominating much of the bout.

- Styles escaped the Michinoku driver and tagged in Luscious who hit a missile dropkick!

- Prince Nana tried to hit Luscious... but missed and hit TAKA!

- Luscious hit TAKA with a low blow, then rolled him up for the pin!

- Rating: 44% (CR: 51, MQ: 45)

Runtime: 19 minutes

8. NWARoH ISN'T BIG ENOUGH

After the intergender tag match, Prince Nana had words for the team of A.J. Styles and Simply Luscious. In the end, Nana had had enough of Luscious' actions... and blamed Styles! It quickly became clear that NWARoH was simply just not big enough for both of these men!

- Nana grabbed the microphone.

Nana: "Hey! Listen up! Simply Luscious, what is the matter with you?! I gave you everything! Expensive clothes, jewelry, nice dinners... you name it! In the end, you leave me... for him?! A.J. Styles?! Why? Because he treats you as an equal? You are not an equal! You are a woman! You have no place in the ring or in wrestling! If you want to walk your man to the ring, that's one thing. The moment you set foot inside of it... you might as well have grown a penis! A.J. Styles, this is all YOUR fault! I've had it! November 16th, A.J., you and I will have a match. If you win, I'll leave NWARoH. If I win... SHE leaves!"

- Luscious looked over at Styles very nervously as A.J. eagerly accepted.

- Rating: 72%

Runtime: 7 minutes

9. AGAIN... FOR THE FIRST TIME

At Unscripted, Jose Maximo was scheduled to go one-on-one with Frankie "The Future" Kazarian in a battle of former NWATNA stars. However, an unfortunate scheduling conflict caused Kazarian to miss that event. A rematch of sorts was added to Glory By Honor! Fans, let me tell you... this was worth the wait! Jose and Frankie held nothing back in a killer fast-paced contest. In the end, only one emerged victorious, but everyone who witnesses this great match can consider themselves a winner!

- The crowd was absolutely DEAD.

- Kazarian hit his Wave Of The Future flatliner... but Jose kicked out!

- Jose came back to hit Maximo Explosion and score the pin!

- Rating: 47% (CR: 24, MQ: 83)

Runtime: 12 minutes

10. THE LADDER MATCH!

At Unscripted, Da' Hit Squad not only defeated the NWARoH Tag Team Champions, they went home with the belts! However, the match wasn't a sanctioned-title match. Monsta Mack and Mafia agreed to give Joey Matthews & Christian York the belts back... if they could retrieve them in a ladder match! What followed was the most hellacious and shocking twenty minutes in NWARoH history! Which two men emerged with the gold? Trust me when I say... you need to see it to believe it!

- This match delivered like Domino's!

- Crazy spots involving the ladder from start to finish.

- Matthews & York wiped Monsta Mack out with their elevated DDT... off the ladder!

- Mafia took an elevated DDT outside the ring.

- York headed up but Mack recovered and pulled him down with a full nelson slam.

- Matthews blasted Mack with a superkick, then propped up a table in the corner.

- Matthews and Mafia went up while their partners lay sprawled out on the canvas.

- Matthews grabbed a belt, then engaged in a tug-of-war with Mafia for the other one.

- Just as Matthews was about to pull the belt away...

- Burning Hammer off the ladder through a table on Joey Matthews!

- Referee John Finnegan named Da' Hit Squad the winners!

- Can you say HOLY SHIT?!?!?!

- Rating: 63% (CR: 58, MQ: 84)

Runtime: 20 minutes

11. TWO ROADS TO GLORY

After a chaotic main event, RoH Commissioner J.J. Dillon hit the scene. He delivered several shocking announcements that would change the face of NWARoH, including adding two colossal matches to Scramble Madness, the big November 16th show. I’m not even going to mention them. Order the DVD and find out for yourself!

- The crowd was still cheering over the crazy finish as Dillon entered the ring.

Dillon: "Dear Lord! Somebody get in here and get these guys some help!"

- Medics rushed to the ring to help the wrestlers out.

Dillon: "John Finnegan, where do you get off awarding this match to Da‘ Hit Squad? I don‘t know about you but I saw two men bringing two belts down... and they weren‘t from the same team! Now, under normal circumstances, I‘d allow this match to continue. However, these are clearly not ‘normal circumstances‘. Thus, I‘m adding a match to Scramble Madness! It will be the NWARoH Tag Team Champions defending their titles as these four men do battle once more! It will be... Joey Matthews & Mafia, the NEW NWARoH Tag Team Champions, defending against Christian York & Monsta Mack!"

- This was met with a mixed reaction from the crowd.

Dillon: "Not only that, but the NWARoH Title will be on the line... in Scramble Madness! What that means is the champion Xavier will wrestle against not one, not two, not even three... but NINE different challengers at the same time! If he is pinned by any of them, he loses the title! Xavier, you said you wanted to be a fighting champion. Here you go. Because of their wins here tonight, I‘m putting in the following three wrestlers... Homicide, little Guido Maritato and Joel Maximo. The other six will be decided the day of the event!"

- With that, Dillon left and the show came to a close.

- Rating: 55%

Runtime: 11 minutes

As a limited time offer, this DVD ships along with an enclosed flyer, offering 50% off admission to NWARoH's Scramble Madness as well as a second disc featuring alternate commentary by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and several assorted matches involving some classic tag team matches.

The best thing about your ROH DVD reports are the Heenan comments afterwards. Specially the one with Homicide and London, and the Guido vs Brian XL match. Most of the stories going on in ROH right now don't interest me much but they're only abridged so you don't get much through a story with them. I would have liked to see the ladder match though.

That ladder match would've been fun to write, but alas, it was not to be. After seeing the guys who come out of OVW, I can't imagine justifying bringing a wrestler in/back from a developmental territory and just saying "well, they're a lot better than they were when they got there" without showing at least some progression, especially when it comes to promos. I mean, the Xavier/Williams stuff was admittedly weak, but it was probably better than those two could do in reality. Thus, the 5 or 6 point bump in charisma they've gotten is a bit warranted. Who knows? Perhaps by the time it's done, guys like Shelton & London could wind up with Rocky-like mike skills. As for Heenan... I'm absolutely positive I can't do him justice, but who could? He IS the smartest man in wrestling, after all.

B&E will be up soon. Enjoy the preshow!

T-Minus 10 Minutes: Breaking & Entering

By Jimmy Kirk

"There you see it," Eric Shaffer as a shot of the steel cage being pulled out of the production truck and carried into the arena aired, "Tonight, that structure will be erected around the ring for the fourth match between K-Krush and Brian Kendrick. If Kendrick wins, he will win the best-of-five series with a score of three to one. If not, Krush will force a final fifth match in which he will be able to name the match's stipulation!"

"Hello, I'm Eric Shaffer, coming to you live from Galveston, Texas," he continued, "Fans, tonight is going to be an explosive night on the road to the NWA 54th Anniversary in just two weeks. The NWA World Title will be decided... plus as we learned last week, Jarrett and Sting! It has been signed! Also, last week, we saw the return to NWATNA of Rey Misterio Jr. Fans, if last week is any indication of what's going to happen tonight, call right now and order this show because you're not going to want to miss it!"

"In addition to that huge steel cage match," he said, "We have learned that tonight we'll see Christopher Daniels, the number-one contender to the X-Division Title, take on Michael Shane. The last time these two did battle, Shane walked away victorious. With Jushin Liger on the horizon, Daniels cannot afford a loss here."

"Plus," he said, "We have official confirmation that Dory Funk Jr. IS in attendance! After the incredible comments made by his brother, Terry Funk last week, it'll be very interesting to hear what the former NWA Championship Committee member has to say. All this, plus Barry Windham takes control of NWATNA! Don't miss it! I'll see you next week in San Antonio. Good night and enjoy the show!"

The shot cut to backstage where Barry Windham sat in a chair, propping his cowboy boots on a desk. Hope and Cade sat nearby as three beautiful women were giving the trio neckrubs. "Boys," Barry said, "I don't care what anybody says. THIS is the life! I could get damn used to this kind of life." Just then... Jeff Jarrett stormed into the office and slapped a piece of paper down on the desk, frightening the ladies!

"Barry, thank God I got here before the show started," Jeff said, "Listen, man. Last week, Sting pulled some shady stuff getting his name on that contract. I need you to work your magic and fix this. I'm not facing Sting in two weeks! Give me another opponent... ANY other opponent." Barry glanced over at Hope, then over at Cade. He smiled, then stood up.

"Jeff," he said, "What does it look like I'm doing here?!" Jarrett stepped back, alarmed by his friend's outburst. "Remember that?" Barry asked, "Two weeks ago, I asked you to give my friends here an opportunity, just a chance. Remember? You blew me off, Jeff. More importantly... you pissed me off! Don't piss me off! Don't piss me off, Jeff!"

"Whoa!" Jarrett said, "Barry, Barry... I'm sorry. You know I... I didn't mean anything by it. I was just, um... distracted. Look, man. You know I'd do anything for you and your friends. Anything, Barry." Windham burst out laughing, as did Cade and Hope. "Yeah," Barry said, "You've been a 'great' friend, Jeff. Really. You know, Jeff... I think a match between you and Sting could be a hell of a fight. If there's one thing a good ol' home-grown Texan like me likes, it's a good fight."

"You want a fight?" Jarrett asked, "I'll give you one. Any other opponent, Barry. Anyone! Fly 'em in from wherever you want. Japan? Mexico? Mars? It doesn't matter! I'll fight the whole damn world! Just not Sting. He doesn't deserve a number-one contender's match, Barry. You know that." Barry rubbed his chin, thinking it over, then opened the desk drawer and pulled out a sheet of paper.

"You're right, Jeff," Windham said, "Sting's done nothing to earn that match. You know what this is? It's a contract stating whoever signs it gets to make one change to their match at the anniversary." Jarrett's eyes lit up. "Where do I sign?" he said, pulling a pen from his pocket. He leaned down... just as Barry pulled the contract off the table!

"Where do you sign?" he asked, "In the ring. You see, tonight we're putting up a cage. After that cage match is over, this contract is going to be dropped in the center of the ring. Whoever gets to it, gets to sign it. It's that simple. We'll call it... a reverse cage match! First one to enter the cage and sign the thing gets to change their match however they see fit."

"Reverse cage match?!" Jarrett exclaimed angrily, "Barry... this isn't good, man. This isn't right and you know it!" Barry smiled as Cade and Hope snickered in the background. Jarrett let out a frustrated sigh and walked away as Windham sat back down, receiving pats on the shoulder from his associates. "Boys," Windham said as the women resumed their massages, "We're in for a REAL good fight tonight!"

Dangerous Details: Breaking & Entering

By "Danger" Will Riker

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. MICHAEL SHANE with Codekill

"Lots of history in this match," Mike Tenay said during the entrances, "Shane interfered in Daniels' NWATNA debut match, sparking a rivalry between the two that culminated in Memphis at Mid-South Mania. Shane used a steel chain to get the win and secure a spot in the X-Division Title tournament. However, now the shoes are on the other feet. Daniels is gearing up for a chance to be the X-Division Title two weeks from tonight. I'm sure Michael Shane would love nothing more than to kill all of Daniels' momentum going in to that showdown with a victory over him here tonight."

Daniels floored Shane with a spinning heel kick and took him to the mat. Shane quickly got to his feet and caught Daniels with a kneelift, then blasted him with a dropkick. Shane pulled Daniels up and positioned him for a piledriver... but Daniels backdropped out of it, sending Shane up and over the top rope to the floor. Luckily for Shane, Codekill stepped in and caught him in mid-air, then gently rolled him back into the ring!

Daniels, under the assumption he had a moment to take a breather, was stunned when Shane slipped behind him and hooked on a full nelson. Daniels struggled for a few moments, then sat out, causing Shane's chin to crack against the back of his bald head. Daniels charged his dazed foe, but walked right into a back elbow smash. Shane delivered a backdrop suplex, then moved to the corner and began stomping, tuning up the band for a little Sweet Shane Music. He fired the superkick... but Daniels caught the foot! He shoved it away, then leveled Shane with a superkick of his own!

Daniels made a cover but Shane kicked out at two. Daniels headed up top and hit the double-jump moonsault for another near-fall. Daniels pulled Shane up and hooked him for Angel's Wings, the sit-out Pedigree... but Shane broke free and clocked him with Sweet Shane Music! "Cover by Shane! This could be it!" West exclaimed, "One! Two! NO! Only two and a half! Christopher Daniels barely escaped that time!"

Shane headed up top the deliver the finishing touch, the Picture Perfect Elbow. He leapt off... but hit nothing! Shane rubbed his elbow, trying to work the kinks out of it, as Daniels got back to his feet. A boot to the gut later, Daniels grabbed Shane and tucked him into position for Angel's Wings, driving him into the mat! He peeled Shane's face off the canvas as he rolled him over and made the successful cover. "Big win for Christopher Daniels as he continues on his way to the X-Division Title match!" Mike Tenay said.

WINNER: Christopher Daniels via pinfall at 17:24

During Daniels' post-match celebration... Codekill entered the ring and clobbered him from behind! As Codekill battered him, Shane slowly got to his feet. He ordered his partner to hoist Daniels up for the elevated superkick they'd used last week to secure a spot in the Iron Team Challenge. Just as Shane got set up decapitate Daniels with his finisher... he was tripped up by a hand at ringside, clipping his ankle. "It's Jushin Liger!" Tenay exclaimed as Liger entered the ring.

Liger battered Shane with palm strikes and kicks as Daniels fired off some punches on Codekill, forcing the big man to release him. Daniels ducked a 'Kill clothesline, then delivered one of his own, knocking Codekill over the top rope to the floor! A hard palm thrust by Liger sent Shane spilling out across the ring. Liger and Daniels both backed away from the ropes... then bumped backs in the center of the ring! They turned to face one another, both drawing back their fists. "Liger made the save!" Tenay said.

"Yeah," West said, "But Daniels doesn't seem all that thrilled to see him." Liger offered Daniels a respectful bow, then left the ring. Daniels scowled as he watched Liger leave the ring, then followed him out. "I don't think Daniels expected Liger to save him," West said, "Liger wants his opponent 100% for their match, but what's Daniels' problem?" As Daniels exited, footage from last week was shown in which Terry Funk called out his brother.

The show cut back to live video where Funk was in the ring, holding a microphone. "Well," he said, "I know you're here. Come on out!" After a brief pause, Dory Funk Jr.'s music hit and out he came, receiving a warm "welcome back" chant from the Texas crowd. Dory climbed into the ring and stood before his younger brother, stone-faced. "These people got it right," Terry said, "Welcome back."

"Thank you," Dory said, looking out into the crowd, "I've missed coming out here and being a part of NWATNA for the past few weeks. It's an exciting time to be involved with this company, especially considering in two weeks, it's the NWA's 54th anniversary. It's going to be a big night... for many reasons." Terry furrowed his brow at the comment, then raised his microphone.

"Why?" he asked, reaching into his pocket, "Because the new man appointed to take your job is going to be announced? The job you gave up. Dory, I have a written statement here from the NWA Board Of Directors. It's an open invitation for you to return to your post anytime you wish. The NWA wants you back and they want you back in charge. This new guy... he wasn't hired to replace you. He was hired to help you out!" Terry pulled a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to Dory... who immediately threw it down.

"I've already gotten one in the mail," he said, "Two, actually... on top of at least ten phone messages. The NWA made their choice. If I believed in what they were doing, I'd be glad to help. I don't. I support NWATNA now like I always have, but if this is the direction this company is headed in, then no matter what they say, I am not wanted or needed."

"Dammit, Dory!" Terry shouted, "Stop being so stubborn. How the hell can you turn your back on this organization, an organization that's given our family so much? You think you're the only one who doesn't like this? You're wrong. The entire committee is upset about this. However, we're willing to give it a chance. The fact is, because you disagree so strongly... that's the very reason you should stick around. Checks and balances. If there's no one here to stop him... who knows what he'll do?"

Dory looked into his brother's eyes, seriously contemplating his words. As the intense stare-down continued, the restless crowd began chanting "Please come back! Please come back!" Dory looked out into the audience as Terry spoke again. "I'm asking you to try," he said, "Just try to work with the guy. I'm not asking you to like it or to like him. I'm just asking you to come here and do the best you can and keeping this place from going crazy... just like it has since you left. Just try it."

"Fine," Dory said, causing the crowd to cheer, "I'll give it a shot. That's my only promise." With that, the Funk brothers shook hands, then embraced and left together. "Dory Funk Jr., back in the driver's seat here in NWATNA!" Mike Tenay said, "Thank God for that. These past few weeks without him, the inmates truly have run the asylum. Speaking of which... here comes the man with control this week, Barry Windham!"

Windham's music hit and out he came, escorted by Hope & Cade. Together, the three headed to the ring. "There you see John Hope and Lance Cade," Tenay said, "Both trained at the world-famous Shawn Michaels' Wrestling Academy in San Antonio. Tonight, they make their NWATNA debut against another new team, The Power Company, Dean and Dave Powers."

ITC QUALIFYING ROUND MATCH

HOPE & CADE with Barry Windham vs. THE POWER COMPANY

Dean Powers and Cade kicked things off with Dean overpowering the lanky Texan, dropping him with a series of clotheslines, then scooping him up for a powerslam. Cade slipped behind Dean and rolled him up, but Powers easily powered out. Cade used the brief moment of control to make a blind tag to Hope. As Dean pushed Cade into the corner, Hope blasted him with a huge punch!

Hope scaled the ropes, then leapt off with a flying clothesline. Dean got up quickly, then caught Hope as he went for another clothesline by scooping him up and powerslamming him! Dean tagged in his brother Dave, the older and slightly larger of the two. Dave immediately fired off some chops to Hope, then whipped him across the ring and flattened him with a shoulder tackle.

Dave pulled Hope up, but he came up swinging, rocking Dave with punches, backing him into the corner. He tagged in Cade who stepped in and floored Dave with a discus punch. Cade made a cover and the wily veteran Windham positioned his protege's feet on the bottom rope for added leverage. Unfortunately for him, referee Mickey Jay caught the infraction and stopped the count.

Dave Powers rallied a short comeback, but Cade caught him in the head with an elbow, then tagged in Hope. Cade climbed the ropes and Hope hoisted Dave up in a powerbomb. As Hope dropped Dave down, Cade leapt off, dropping a big leg across his chest, sandwiching Dave between Cade and the canvas. With all the air expelled out of Dave's lungs, he was easy pickings for Hope who scored the pin. "Impressive victory for the duo of Hope & Cade here in Galveston!" Tenay said as Windham entered the ring as raised their arms.

WINNERS: Hope & Cade via pinfall at 12:57

The three celebrated briefly as The Power Company headed out, then left themselves as the ring crew convened around the ring to assemble the steel cage. "Fans, Brian Kendrick versus K-Krush is next," Tenay said, "And it will be fought within the confines of a fifteen-foot high steel cage! If Kendrick wins, this series will be over. If not, it will conclude next week in the fifth and final match in this tremendous series."

The shot faded to black, then a small bit of light revealed a few shadows around. As the image of a human standing alone in the darkness came to view, a voice began to speak. "Amazing Red," he said, "Three months ago, my life changed forever. Three months ago, I was forced to watch as my world came crashing down around me. Why? Because one man wanted to make a name for himself at my expense. Because one man decided that the future simply wasn't good enough for him."

"Red," he continued, "You did just that. You made a name for yourself. You went from the star of tomorrow to the star of today, Red. However, you forgot one important thing. You forgot about the future, Red. You forgot about YOUR future." The mysterious figure shifted in the darkness, casting a shadow showing he was facing the camera. "Red, you gave up years of success for fifteen minutes of fame," he said, "In one instant, you cemented yourself as a formidable threat and at the same time, ensured the fact that future generations are only going to remember you for one thing."

With that, the figure leaned forward. The light shone on his face, covered by a mask adorned with crowns and question marks. Behind it lay the unmistakable eyes of Rey Misterio Jr. "Red, you're not the reason the career of Rey Misterio Jr. came to an end," he said, "You're the reason I came back... for revenge. In the end, that's all you'll be. When my story is written, you'll be nothing more than a footnote. When your story is written... no one will read it. On October 23rd, Red, one of our careers will end... and it won't be mine." Rey cracked an eerie, almost sinister smile, then leaned back into the darkness.

Elsewhere backstage, Psicosis and Super Crazy were spotted, arguing feverishly in Spanish. Juventud Guerrera pried them apart, shouting "Callate!", the Spanish word for "shut up". "Oye, vatos!" he shouted, "Don't you guys see what's going on here? Yeah, we lost to Liger last week... but it's not Psicosis' fault, man! And Psicosis... it's not Crazy's fault either, ese!" Psicosis and Crazy glanced at each other... then turned and began shouting at Juvi, pointing fingers in his chest!

"Me?!" Juvi cried out, "You locos tryin' to blame me? No! Listen up! This fightin' each other stuff isn't doin' any good, locos! I say we need to prove to ourselves, to each other and to all of NWATNA that Tres Locos are for real! Nosotros unidos! We are a team!" Crazy and Psicosis again turned to each other, then nodded and backed off of Juvi. "All right," Juvi said, pointing towards the exit door nearby, "Now what I say is that the next person who walks through the door gets a beating... loco style!" Crazy and Psicosis again nodded, then turned to stand beside Juvi and face the doorway.

Moments later, the door opened... an in walked Kevin Sullivan. "Hey, fellas," he said, greeting the Locos, "You guys know where I can find Steve Corino and Dan Severn?" Crazy and Psicosis clenched their fists and lunged forward... but Juvi stopped them. "Yo, listen up, old man," Juvi said, "You best turn around and walk out the same way you came, gringo. Otherwise, you're gonna get smacked like a bitch!"

Sullivan stared at Juvi, then his lips curled into a twisted smile as he softly chuckled. "Three become two," he said menacingly, then turned to Crazy and said "Two become one." Sullivan stared down Psicosis and said "One becomes zero, when trust becomes none." As he finished his rhyme, he got right in Juvi's face, causing him to take a step backwards. Again, Sullivan grinned sinisterly, relishing in Guerrera's fear.

"S-so what?" Juvi said as Sullivan turned and began walking away, "W-what's that? Some kind of... of curse or somethin'?" Sullivan burst out laughing, then turned back and flashed another sick smile, causing Juvi to visibly shudder. "O-o-oh, yeah?" Juvi stammered, "Well... um... here's what we do to crazy gringos like you, ese!" With that, Tres Locos sprung into action!

After mercilessly pummeling Sullivan to the floor, Juvi pulled him up and tossed him into the wall, causing him to slump to the floor as backstage workers rushed to his aid. "Let that be a lesson to you, as well as anybody in NWATNA who is estupido enough to doubt Tres Locos!" Juvi shouted, "Nosotros unidos! Now and forever!" The three exchanged high-fives, then walked away together as Sullivan received medical attention.

"Damn Tres Locos!" Don West shouted from the broadcast booth, "They just destroyed Kevin Sullivan! Fans, Sullivan was here tonight to lay down the law to Dan Severn and Steve Corino, because two weeks from tonight, he'll be the third man in the ring as Severn and Corino battle it out to determine the new NWA World Champion! Mike, these guys need to be punished!"

"Absolutely, Don," Mike Tenay said, "Luckily, Sullivan is going to have two weeks to recover for that epic show on October 23rd. Severn versus Corino is but one of a slew of great matches to come. Jeff Jarrett battles Sting for the number-one contendership to the NWA World Title! Jerry Lynn and his mortal enemy, Ken Shamrock take their feud to a new level... in a falls-count-anywhere match! Jushin Liger defends the X-Division Title against Christopher Daniels. Plus, we've just gotten word from Dory Funk Jr. that... it will indeed be Rey Misterio Jr. taking on The Amazing Red one-on-one!"

"Mike, those are all matches worth the $9.95 we're asking," West said, "But for that price... you get them ALL! Plus, tonight one of those matches could potentially be changed. Whoever can break into that cage around the ring to retrieve the contract signed earlier by Barry Windham will be able to make one alteration to their match. We know Jeff Jarrett will be after it, but I've got to believe everyone currently on deck for the card would love to get their hands on it."

"Yes, but right now," Tenay said as the steel-encased ring appeared on the screen, "It's time for the reason this cage was assembled in the first place. Last week, Brian Kendrick defeated K-Krush in a 'battle rap' challenge to take a two-to-one lead over him in the best-of-five series. Tonight, Krush will have nowhere to run as Kendrick tries to end it all... inside the cage!"

BEST OF FIVE "SPECIALTY SERIES": MATCH FOUR

STEEL CAGE MATCH

BRIAN KENDRICK vs. K-KRUSH

Kendrick jumped the gun, attacking Krush before the bell and driving his face into the cage! Gripping Krush's hair in his hand, he dragged him to the other side of the ring, then bashed him into the cage there. Kendrick continued driving and grating Krush's face against the steel, causing the blood to flow within the opening minutes of the match. "Brian Kendrick is finished messing around!" Mike Tenay said, "He wants to finish this thing tonight!"

Kendrick moved into position to deliver his Sliced Bread #2 finisher on his bloody nemesis, but Krush quickly countered with a Russian leg sweep, then pressed his hand into Kendrick's face as the referee, Chuck Berry, registered a near-fall. Krush hoisted Brian up and draped him over his shoulder, then drove him face-first into all four cage walls before powerslamming him down! He picked up another near-fall, then dropped his knee across Kendrick's, leaving a bright red smear across it.

Krush lifted Kendrick up again and bashed him into the cage, then dumped him over the top rope, trapping him between the ropes and cage. With Kendrick helpless, Krush gave him a few sharp stomps before scaling up the turnbuckles, then climbing up the cage. Luckily for Kendrick, he managed to move the ropes enough as he got free to cause Krush to land crotch-first on the turnbuckle! Kendrick quickly moved to the corner and hooked Krush up for a superplex... but Krush countered and took Kendrick down to the canvas with a brutal top rope neckbreaker!

"Krush is climbing back up!" West said, "All he has to do is escape this cage and we're tied in the series!" Krush reached the top of the cage and prepared to pull himself up and over... when Kendrick sprang to life and hit the cage wall with a running dropkick! The impact caused the cage to tremble and Krush to lose his grip, sending him plummeting back to the mat! Incredibly... he landed perfectly on his feet! As Krush stood in stunned silence at his own athletic prowess, or perhaps sheer luck... Kendrick rushed him and scored with Sliced Bread #2! "Cover!" West yelled, "One! Two! NO! K-Krush kicks away! You have got to be kidding me!"

A disappointed Kendrick backed off as Krush got up, but then blasted him with a killer step-up enzuigiri! Kendrick pulled Krush up and spun him around, then dropkicked him in the back, sending him face and chest-first into the steel! As Krush slumped into the corner, Kendrick released a battle cry and charged... right into Krush's raised boot! Kendrick staggered backwards, then took a boot to the gut as Krush prepared to finish him off with the scissor kick.

Krush leapt into the air, ready to lower the boom... but Kendrick stood up. Amazingly, Krush managed to land on his feet, aborting the scissor kick in mid-air. He kicked Kendrick's abdomen again and drove his bloody face into the mat with a DDT! Krush made a cover, but again Kendrick refused to die. Finally, Krush delivered a spinebuster to Kendrick and headed for the corner. "He may not be able to pin Kendrick," Tenay said, "But he sure knows another way to win this thing!"

Krush, making his third attempt to reach the top of the cage, finally succeeded. Unfortunately, he did so with Kendrick in hot pursuit! As Krush tried to pull himself up and over the cage, Kendrick grabbed his left leg, prohibiting Krush from removing it from the cage. Still gripping Krush's leg with one arm, Kendrick continued climbing as Krush sat uncomfortably atop the cage. Once he reached Krush, he immediately grabbed his head and arm, hooking him up for a superplex off the cage! Luckily for Krush, the battle had taken far too much out of Kendrick, enabling him to reverse the move and drop Kendrick face-first to the canvas!

"My God!" Tenay exclaimed, barely audible over the Galveston crowd's chant of "holy shit" as Kendrick's bloody face bounced off the mat, "I've never seen anything like that!" Krush slowly collected himself atop the cage, then stood up and carefully swung his left leg over the cage. Meanwhile, Kendrick began motioning with his hand for the referee at ringside, Jim Molineaux, to open the door! He did and Kendrick slowly began crawling towards it, mere inches away, while Krush struggled to make his way down the cage wall. The race became tighter and tighter as Krush was about halfway down while his bloody foe had extracted his head and torso from the cage. In a reckless display of desperation, or perhaps malice, Krush sprang off the cage, dropkicking the door and crashing down to the floor below. Kendrick's body was crushed by the cage door as the referee called for the bell!

WINNER: K-Krush via escape at 19:11

SERIES SCORE: K-Krush 2, Brian Kendrick 2

"Incredible!" Mike Tenay said, "K-Krush with a huge win to tie it up at two all! Unfortunately, neither of these men look like they're in any condition to compete next week in the final match of this series. With all these two have given to and taken from each other, not just tonight but over the course of this heated rivalry, I can only imagine how far they'll go to finally settle the score next week!"

The referees and medics on hand carted both combatants out of the arena as Barry Windham made his way to the ring, carrying with him the contract which was at stake. "All right," he said, picking up a chair. He propped it up in the center of the ring, then laid the contract on it. "Boys in the back," he said, "You know what's at stake. You want it? Come get it. May the best man win." Windham ordered the timekeeper to ring the bell, then stepped through the door and out of the cage, taking a seat at ringside.

REVERSE CAGE MATCH

"Well, I think we know who wants it the most!" West said as The Amazing Red came rushing down the aisle, "This guy thought he had ended Rey Misterio Jr.'s career. I bet he'd do anything to get out of that match!" Red quickly reached the cage, then began climbing up when out came Jerry Lynn! Lynn, scheduled to face Ken Shamrock in a falls-count-anywhere match at the anniversary, grabbed Red and back suplexed him off the cage to the floor!

Just then... The Extreme Horsemen rushed out! Steve Corino, along with C.W. Anderson and Tully Blanchard, began stomping away at Lynn and Red. As the three pounded away on the X-Division stars... Jeff Jarrett snuck in through the crowd and jumped the guard rail! "Jarrett's trying to steal it!" West said as the self-proclaimed "chosen one" headed for the door... only to be blocked by Steve Corino! The two began slugging it out when suddenly... Frank and Ken Shamrock rushed out and attacked them both!

As the Shamrocks took it to the diabolical duo, Red grabbed C.W.'s leg, preventing him from rushing to Corino's aid. Just then... Rey Misterio Jr., donning a mask, rushed out and fired a dropkick at Red! Unfortunately for Anderson, Red released his leg, causing Rey's dropkick to connect with his knee! C.W. collapsed in a heap, clutching his leg, as Rey chased Red around the cage, then into the front row around ringside!

With one Horseman down, another soon fell as Lynn spiked Tully with a DDT on the floor. Spotting Lynn scaling the cage, Ken Shamrock abandoned his brother in their assault on Jarrett and Corino and pulled Lynn down. Corino took the opportunity to whip Frank Shamrock into the guard rail, busting him open and knocking him cold! Corino headed for the door, but Jarrett stopped him. The two began negotiating a deal... when the music of Dan "The Beast" Severn hit!

"Oh, man!" West said as Severn stalked his way to the ring, "This is pure insanity! Anderson, Blanchard and Frank Shamrock, none of whom had any business out here I might add, are completely out of it! Rey Misterio Jr.'s chasing Red around the arena! Jerry Lynn and Ken Shamrock are going toe-to-toe! Now... Dan Severn?! Mike, it looks like we're not going to wait for the NWA 54th Anniversary at all!"

Severn marched towards Corino... but Ken Shamrock delivered a back suplex to him on the floor, stopping him! Corino and Shamrock put the boots to Severn as Lynn rushed to his aid. Meanwhile, Red hopped the guard rail back to ringside and continued running past Jeff Jarrett. Rey followed suit... only to run right into a clothesline by Jarrett! Jarrett ordered Red to take out the downed Misterio. With the other six men involved in the fight occupied... Jarrett stepped through the door into the cage to collect the prize.

He picked up the contract and prepared to sign it... when the lights suddenly went out! A spotlight shone on the rafters and down came the incomparable Sting into the cage! "Mike, Jeff Jarrett had better sign fast!" West said as the lights returned and Sting stood face to face with Jarrett, whose hand trembled so severely he was unable to sign the contract! Jarrett cautiously took his eyes off Sting and focused on the paper... then Sting lunged forward menacingly! Jarrett chucked down the contract and the pen, made a break for the door, hopped the guard rail and kept on running! "He didn't sign it!" West said, "It's all Sting's!"

Sting picked up the fallen contract and pen, looked out into the crowd... then placed them on the chair. He reattached his harness and slowly ascended back up into the dark rafters from whence he came. "He didn't sign it either!" Tenay said, "Jeff Jarrett in the ring on October 23rd is all Sting wants, I guess. He doesn't want to change it. Red versus Rey, Lynn versus Shamrock or Corino versus Severn... one of these matches is going to be altered in some way!"

Shamrock took Lynn took with a snap suplex, then began driving his fists into Lynn's face. He pulled Lynn up and slung him down, starting his triple belly-to-belly suplex combo. Meanwhile, Red made a break for the door, but Corino grabbed his foot and dragged him back out. Severn clobbered Corino from behind, allowing Red to climb into the cage. He glanced towards the contract... but then spotted Rey climbing up the cage wall! Red quickly jumped over the top through the door, looking to both escape potentially being trapped in the cage with Rey as well as hit a huracanrana on Severn. His first plan was successful, but his second failed as Severn splattered him on the floor with a powerbomb!

Red crawled over to where Shamrock had just completed his second belly-to-belly on Lynn and was pulling him up for a third. Atop the cage... Rey dove off, aiming for Red! Red ducked and Rey collided with Lynn and Shamrock, causing all three men to collapse at ringside! Lynn, severely wounded at various stages of the melee, quietly rolled under the guard rail and lay there, awaiting medical attention.

Severn repeatedly bashed Corino's face into the cage, busting him open. Meanwhile, Red was left all alone to begin his ascension towards the top of the cage. As he began climbing... Rey kipped up, shocking Red who thought surely Rey had reinjured himself after the insane spill he had just taken. Red jumped down from the cage and rushed up the aisle, followed close by Rey who chased him behind the curtain to the back.

As the war between Corino and Severn continued to escalate, Shamrock slowly began coming around and pulled himself to his feet. He walked over and slapped Severn on the back, causing a loud smack to echo throughout the arena.. Shamrock spun Severn around and DDTed, giving the bloody Corino a much needed breather. Shamrock hooked on a sleeper as the battered Corino gripped the cage and slowly began pulling himself up towards the top.

As Corino sluggishly draped himself over the top of the cage and began to descend inside of it... Severn hoisted Shamrock up and delivered a back suplex onto a nearby table, effectively breaking both the table and Shamrock's headlock. With Ken incapacitated, Severn headed for the door and stepped through it, just as Corino had landed in the ring. "Here we go, Mike!" West said, "It's a foot race now!"

Indeed it was... and despite being nearly unconscious from blood loss, Corino beat Severn to the contract! He took the pen in his right hand and the contract in his left... but Severn grabbed him with both hands and pulled him in for the guillotine choke! "Corino's got the contract!" West said, "However, Severn's going to choke him out until he gives it up! Corino said he'd never give up to Severn when it matters. Well, that statement is going to be tested tonight!"

Corino struggled to escape, smacking Severn on the back with the clipboard. Severn sat up, trying to cinch the choke in even deeper. Corino, barely able to focus due to the blood in his eyes, the loss of oxygen to his brain and the general fatigue of NWATNA's wildest brawl in history, dropped the clipboard to the mat... then with his last ounce of strength, reached the pen over to sign it!

"It's over!" Tenay said, as the bell rang, "Steve Corino didn't give it up, but he had nothing left. Still, now he has earned the right to alter that match however he sees fit!" Severn, having officially lost, released the hold and got to his feet, shoving the lifeless Corino onto the bloodstained canvas. He walked to the door and left the cage, but not before shooting one last disgusted glare at his future opponent, now a huddled, red mass on the mat.

WINNER: Steve Corino via signing the contract at 35:01

C.W. Anderson and Tully Blanchard limped their way into the cage to congratulate Corino as Barry Windham followed them in to issue a final address to the crowd. "Thank you all for coming out and supporting NWATNA!" Windham said, "Next week, we're in San Antonio live for our final stop on the road to the NWA 54th Anniversary... No Turning Back! We hope to see you there! On behalf of the entire NWATNA organization, this is Barry Windham saying good..."

"Wait one fucking minute!" Corino shouted angrily from his knees, loud enough that Windham's mike could pick it up. He demanded the microphone from Barry, then clutched it in one hand and the bloody contract, ripped from the clipboard and crumpled, in the other.

"Severn!" he growled, "Listen up and listen good! I told you and I told the world... when it matters, you can't make me tap! I proved it tonight! You had me right where you wanted me... and still I get what I want! It's right here, Dan! This contract says I can add any stipulation to our match I want! It's simple. You'll never get me to tap out when the gold is at stake, Severn... because as of right now, our match is NO SUBMISSION!" Having concluded his rant, Corino hoisted the red and white document over his head, let out a triumphant laugh, then collapsed to the mat again.

"No submission?!" Tenay said, "Fans, this just put Corino at a huge advantage for that NWA Title match! Dan Severn is a submission master, but if he's unable to use that dreaded choke... why, I'm not sure he can defeat Corino. Fans, we'll see you next week in San Antonio! We are on the road to the anniversary and there is no turning back! Good night!"

Corino has to get the title. Corino MUST get the title. I have but one prediction: I think we may finally see our fourth Horseman at the Anniversary Show. I mean, Swinger was almost there, but he wasn't accepted. Simon was there, but he got scooped away. There has to be a fourth man, and while I really can't offer any kind of thought as to who it may be, I think he'll be in attendance for the crowning of Corino as the champion.

All I can say to that, Steve is... perhaps. Thanks for reading and replying. :)

Next: No Turning Back

By Katy-Jayne Myers

NWATNA drives into San Antonio this Wednesday and it's the last stop before the colossal NWA 54th Anniversary. With so much riding on the big event, this Wednesday there is absolutely no turning back!

Last Wednesday, Dory Funk Jr. announced his return, hopefully ending the chaos NWATNA management has suffered in recent weeks. Funk has his work cut out for him in order to clean things up before the big show next week. Can he do it? If so, how? Find out at No Turning Back!

Despite suffering a vicious assault at the hands of Tres Locos, Kevin Sullivan returns to NWATNA to address Dan Severn and Steve Corino. With the NWA World Title hanging in the balance, will Sullivan show an allegiance to either party?

The epic war between K-Krush and Brian Kendrick finally comes to a head in match five of their best-of-five series. Kendrick won the first match, but Krush defeated Kendrick in a table match. Krush had a plan, but Kendrick turned the tide and won the battle rap challenge. After last Wednesday's incredible cage match, Krush will decide the final stipulation. What will it be and who will emerge victorious?

Earlier today, NWATNA.com reported a horrific car accident involving Michael Shane. Shane's scheduled partners for No Turning Back, Codekill and The Amazing Red are searching for a replacement as they gear up to take on a unique X-Division team in six-man action. Rey Misterio Jr. wrestles in an NWATNA ring the first time in months, joining forces with Jushin Liger and Christopher Daniels, the men who will vie for the NWA X-Division Title on October 23rd! With all of these combustible elements in the same ring at the same time, explosions are guaranteed!

The fourth team in the Iron Team Challenge will be decided and much, much more. It's the NWATNA stars' final opportunity to gain momentum going into The NWA 54th Anniversary! Everyone on hand will be pulling out all the stops! Don't miss it!

Also, please continue checking NWATNA.com for more details concerning Michael Shane's condition.

T-Minus 10 Minutes: No Turning Back

By Jimmy Kirk

The pre-show opened with a look inside Dory Funk Jr.'s office as the former NWA World Champion returned to his seat of power within NWATNA. He sat behind a desk and greeted the viewing audience. "Welcome to NWATNA," he said, "Tonight, we proudly present to you No Turning Back, live from San Antonio, Texas. This will be our final stop on the road to The NWA 54th Anniversary."

"As some of you may know," Funk continued, "This weekend, NWATNA star Michael Shane was involved in a car accident. Our thoughts are with Michael tonight and we sincerely hope he can one day return to NWATNA. However, for the time being, Michael will be replaced tonight by 'Prime Time' Elix Skipper. Elix will join forces with Codekill and The Amazing Red to face a veritable X-Division all-star team!"

"It will be our NWA X-Division Champion Jushin 'Thunder' Liger," he said, "And his partners will be the #1 contender to that title, Christopher Daniels... and the in-ring return of Rey Misterio Jr.! Next week, Misterio will face Red in one-on-one competition, but tonight will be the first time Rey will compete since July. As for Liger and Daniels, their match is still slated to occur next week."

"In addition to that great X-Division action," he said, "Tonight, Dan Severn and Steve Corino, the men who will battle for the NWA World Title next week, will be face-to-face. Kevin Sullivan has ordered a meeting between the two designed to let them know exactly what he expects for both men. As a member of the NWA Championship Committee, I have hereby washed my hands of this matter. Kevin Sullivan, you take it from here."

"We will also see the fourth qualifying match in the Iron Team Challenge," he continued, "As well as the fifth and final match in the best-of-five series between K-Krush and Brian Kendrick. These two have been mortal enemies for months, but it all ends tonight! If I haven't given to reason enough to order this show, I will now. Tonight, our main event..."

Just then, Jeff Jarrett barged in! "Listen up, Funk!" he shouted, slamming his fists onto the desk, "Nobody cares about all this! All the people out there are talking about is how the 'chosen one' got screwed... again! I had that contract, Dory. I had it in my hands and then Sting interfered! I demand you erase that match from next week's show, Dory! Sting needs to be suspended and removed from that match! Give me a different opponent, Funk!"

"You want a different opponent?" Dory asked, "You got it! Not next week... tonight! Ladies and gentlemen, tonight our main event will be a tune-up match for Jeff Jarrett as he prepares to go into battle against Sting. His opponent... will be my brother, Terry Funk!" Jarrett was taken aback by Dory's decree and stepped back away from the desk. "Jarrett, whether you like it or not, you're going to wrestle Sting," he said, "And there is NO TURNING BACK!"

Well, I had a big long thing written up, but then my computer messed up and I lost it all. I'm feeling like TGC here on this one. But I will make mention that everyone reading should have known Krush was going over in that match. I've never seen someone do a "Best Of.." series and then have it end before the final possible match.

Also, There is no way Corino is going over and that makes me very sad. It's going to give you heel heat worse then OJ on this one. He just has the odds stacked so heavily in his favour that it seems impossible for him to lose. Which mean's he's going to. I'm telling you, massive heel heat coming for you.

But this is still a great diary, and even if you become the OJ of the dome, I shall keep reading.

The O.J. of the Dome? I am officially frightened now. Labels be damned, I shall continue to tell this story for as long as it shall be told, O.J. or not. Just so long as I don't have to sport the hairdo, I can handle it. Thanks for reading and the warning. :) Enjoy the show everyone.

Dangerous Details: No Turning Back

By "Danger" Will Riker

REY MISTERIO JR., CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & JUSHIN LIGER vs. THE AMAZING RED, CODEKILL & ELIX SKIPPER replacing Michael Shane

The show faded in to a close up shot of a sign in the crowd, supporting hometown star Michael Shane. It read "Get Well Soon" and had a photo of Shane superkicking an opponent. As the shot pulled back, the teams made their entrances and the match got underway with Misterio and Skipper kicking things off. Rey pointed at Red, demanding Elix tag out. Skipper stepped towards the corner, faking Rey out... then leveled him with a huge superkick!

Skipper put the boots to Rey, then dragged him to the corner, pinning his arms back so Red could reach out and slap him across his masked face. Codekill came in off the tag, then hoisted Rey up and dropped him in the Codebreaker! He made a cover, but Red ordered him to get up and make the tag, wanting to take care of what was left of Misterio once and for all. Codekill made the tag, then locked on a full nelson as Red fired off sharp kicks to Rey's ribs.

Red took Rey down with a fisherman's suplex and got a two-count... but Rey got to his feet quickly! Rey immediately charged Red who slapped Codekill on the shoulder as he jumped over the top rope and kept on going. "Red just abandoned his teammates!" Don West said, "Run all you want tonight, Red! Next week, it's you and Misterio one-on-one!" Rey began to follow Red but Codekill and Skipper attacked him from behind and threw him back into the ring.

Codekill splattered Misterio on the canvas with a powerbomb, then climbed up to the top rope. He leapt off... but Rey rolled out of the way of the big splash! Misterio crawled to the corner and tagged in Daniels, who nailed 'Kill with a dropkick, then pulled him up and positioned him for Angel's Wings. Codekill powered out of the move, backdropping Daniels... then sitting down, dropping all of his 300 pound frame on Daniels' chest!

'Kill tagged in Elix and together they whipped Daniels into the ropes and bent down, looking to deliver a double back body drop. Daniels quickly countered, grabbing them for a double DDT... but Codekill and Skipper hoisted Daniels up, holding him in the air. Luckily for Daniels... Jushin Liger rushed in and delivered a dropkick, nailing both Skipper and Codekill in the knee! Skipper collapsed and Codekill fell back... dropping Daniels throat-first across the top rope!

Liger helped Daniels up... but Daniels pushed him away, berating him for his mistake. As Daniels verbally laced into Liger, from behind, Codekill got to his feet. Liger quickly thrust his palm forward, narrowly missing Daniels and striking Codekill right in the face! "What was that?!" West asked as Codekill tumbled out of the ring, "Was he trying to hit Codekill... or was he trying to hit Daniels?!"

Liger and Daniels continued to argue... then Daniels shoved Liger! Liger shook his head and returned the favor, shoving Daniels back towards the ropes. Rey Misterio Jr., from the apron, reached over, tagged himself in, then quickly climbed to the top rope and leapt off, dropping a legdrop on Skipper, who was clutching his knee in agony. Misterio hooked Skipper's good leg and scored the pin as his partners went nose-to-nose in the center of the ring!

WINNERS: Rey Misterio Jr., Christopher Daniels, & Jushin Liger via pinfall at 14:50

"Don, we've seen not one, but BOTH of these teams completely self-destruct here!" Mike Tenay said, "The Amazing Red abandons his team to get away from Misterio and then Liger and Daniels explode! Tempers are rising in the X-Division and it comes to a head next week in Corpus Christi!" Rey celebrated his victory as Liger collected his belt and left. Daniels followed him out as medics rushed out to check on Codekill and especially Elix Skipper. As they helped them to the back, the scene cut to backstage.

Kevin Sullivan stood in Dory Funk Jr.'s office, standing between Dan "The Beast" Severn and Steve Corino, bandaged up from the bloody brawl he was in seven days prior. "All right, guys," Sullivan says, "Here's the deal. Next week, it's you and you... for all the marbles. The NWA World Title will be at stake and I'm going to be the law in that ring. What I say goes. You get me?"

Corino and Severn continued staring at one another, ignoring Sullivan's question. "Now," he continued, "Since you earned the right, Corino, I'm not allowed to count any submissions. If you tap out, there's nothing I can..." "I won't tap out," Corino said, cutting Sullivan off. He looked back at Severn, who smiled, almost as if he found that coment amusing. "Okay," Sullivan says, "Just know this though... never interrupt me again!"

"Now where was I?" Kevin said, collecting his thoughts, "Ah, yes. Since the NWA Championship Committee put me in charge, I've decided to make the most of it. One of you will be having a match... right here tonight!" That statement finally got Corino and Severn to break their eye contact and look over at Sullivan. Corino began stammering out a protest, but Sullivan glared at him as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a coin.

"Heads, Severn will wrestle," he said, "Tails, it'll be Corino." He tossed the coin into the air and let it land on the desk. Both men watched as it spun around, then landed flat. "Ha!" Corino shouted as it came up heads, "Good luck, Danny boy! You're going to need it!" Severn looked at the coin to confirm, then furrowed his brow in frustration. "Go get ready, Severn," Sullivan said.

Severn walked away, then Sullivan started in the opposite direction... but was stopped by Corino. "Wait just a second," Steve said, picking up the coin to examine it. The camera zoomed in close as Corino looked at the heads side, then flipped it over... only to reveal another heads side! Corino smiled at Sullivan and chuckled. "I knew I could trust you," he said.

Sullivan angrily snatched the coin out of Corino's hand. "You what?" he asked, "Do you have any idea who I am, kid? I'm the guy who got the phone call the day Satan learned he needed a heart transplant! You think you can trust me? Think again. You'll see what I mean in a bit. You cross me and you get yours. It's that simple. Do you want to cross me?" Corino shook his head, then Sullivan said, "Then get out of my way." Corino followed the order and Sullivan walked off, but not before laughing sinisterly in a frightened Corino's face.

"Mike, Kevin Sullivan can't be trusted... period," West said, "If either of these guys want to gain favor with him, they'll have to sell their soul to the devil. In any other match, I doubt it would happen... but this is for the NWA World Title. It just may be worth it to them. Now, Severn's got a match here tonight. The odds keep looking like they're going in Corino's favor, especially since the 'no submission' rule was established."

"You're right," Tenay said, "But the NWA World Title isn't the only title NWATNA stars have been looking at. On November 20th, we will crown new NWA World Tag Team Champions as the winners of the first-ever Iron Team Challenge will be decided. So far, we've seen Sonny Siaki and Jorge Estrada, Michael Shane and Codekill and the newcomers Hope and Cade all earn a spot in that challenge. Next, we will find out the fourth team to qualify."

ITC QUALIFYING ROUND MATCH

LOS COLONS with Carlos Colon vs. ACID REIGN

Puerto Rican wrestling legend Carlos Colon led his two sons, Eddie and Carlos Jr. to the ring for their NWATNA debut against another new team, Acid Reign. Newcomer Jayson Reign joined forces with the impressive X-Division wrestler Trent Acid, a veteran of both CZW and XPW and no stranger to the rings of NWATNA. "Both of these teams are looking to make a name for themselves here tonight," Tenay said at the bell, "But only one will be guaranteed a spot in the ITC on November 20th."

Carlos Jr. and Reign locked up and Colon took Reign down with a snapmare and cinched in a reverse chinlock. He drove Reign's shoulders down to the mat and thrust his forearm into his face aggressively as referee Chuck Berry counted to two. After the kickout, Carlos Jr. returned to the hold, attempting to keep the high-flyer grounded and prevent him from gaining momentum or tagging in Acid. Reign fought his way up though and sat out, causing Carly's chin to crack against the top of his head.

Reign hit a few kicks to Colon's gut, then tagged in Acid. Reign knelt in front of Colon, then Acid charged and leapt off it, blasting Carly with a flying dropkick. Acid tried to hiptoss Colon out of the corner, but Carly reversed it and slung Acid down, then tagged out of Eddie. he then scooped Acid up and slammed him down... then Eddie came off the top with a breathtaking shooting star press! "Awesome!" Don West exclaimed as Eddie hooked the leg. Chuck Berry counted to two before Trent was able to kick out.

Eddie pulled Acid up and set up for a bulldog, but Acid countered by lifting Eddie for an atomic drop. In mid-air, Eddie twisted around and grabbed Acid's head, then drove him down with a killer DDT! He tagged in his brother, then pulled Acid up as he scaled the ropes. Acid managed to whip Eddie into the corner, causing him to crotch Carlos Jr. on the top, then he tagged out to Jayson. Reign rushed over and climbed up top, looking to deliver a top rope DDT to Carly... but as he hit it, Eddie powerbombed him down, taking both men out!

Berry began counting both men out but Colon broke the count at six and slowly getting to his feet. He crawled over to make the cover... but Acid jumped into the ring and distracted the referee, shouting and pointing at Carlos Sr. at ringside! Berry moved over to investigate Acid's allegations that the elder Colon was going to interfere. Just then... Acid spun around and blasted Carly with the yakuza kick! Eddie attacked Acid and the two brawled as Carly collapsed backwards into a roll-up by Reign. With a generous handful of tights, Reign got the pin, despite Carlos Sr.'s protests from the ring apron.

WINNERS: Acid Reign via pinfall at 15:13

"Acid Reign just stole a spot into the Iron Team Challenge!" Tenay said as Trent and Jayson made their escape, celebrating their ill-gotten victory. Carlos Colon entered the ring and helped his sons up, consoling them somewhat. Carlos Jr. and Eddie left the ring and Carlos went to follow. Just then... the familiar music of The Honky Tonk Man hit!

"Hold on there!" Honky said as he made his way to the ring, "Carlos Colon, baby... welcome to Honky Talk! Now, I had planned to have you and your kids on the show, but we've got a new rule for Honky Talk. No losers. Hit the bricks, kids. I've got to have a little chat with your daddy here." As HTM climbed into the ring, Carlos Colon nodded to his offspring, signalling them it was okay to leave.

"Now," HTM continued, "My guest this week is a legend in Puerto Rico as long-time veteran of wrestling, Carlos Colon. Carlos, I'm not going to waste any time here, okay? You're no stranger to the NWA, are you? In fact, about 19 years ago... you had a match for the NWA World Title, didn't you?" Carlos' expression quickly changed from rather positive to annoyed at this comment.

"In fact," he comntinued, "That was the start of your whole endeavor down there in Puerto Rico. You didn't win the NWA Title... so you created your own belt and made yourself into a 'legend'. Tell me, Carlos... is that what the plan is now? Are you and your kids headed back to Puerto Rico and making up a tag team title belt since we all know you can't get it done where it really matters... or are your children just better losers than you are? By the looks of the match I just saw... they're pretty good losers. Still, you're a legend at it!"

Colon snatched the stick away from Honky. "Listen here, you!" he shouted, "You can say whatever you want about me. My record speaks for itself. My boys, though... they're just getting started in their careers. They have a long road ahead of them. To answer your question, Carly and Eddie will become tag team champions... right here in NWATNA! It won't be today. It won't be tomorrow. It will happen someday though, and I'm willing to bet that when it does... they won't be still talking about it 15 years later!"

"You're right," Honky said, "I'm sorry, boys. I guess I shouldn't have assumed you would turn tail and run back home to your momma cryin'. Then again... you ARE this guy's kids. No, they won't be tag champions today or tomorrow... or on November 20th when a truly deserving team will win the Iron Team Challenge. As for your little comment, let's face it... neither of your kids have what it takes to be the longest-reigning champion of anything. Well, I guess they could just make up a belt if they wanted. Hmmm... I guess the apple doesn't..."

Honky was interrupted... by a big right hand! Colon rocked HTM with a punch, then another, then finished with a headbutt, bashing his scarred forehead into Honky's. HTM fell to the mat and Colon quickly applied a figure four, causing Honky to tap out almost instantly! Despite Honky's frantic submission, Colon refused to release the hold. Luckily for him, Chuck Berry returned to the ring along with two other referees and ordered Colon to break it. HTM immediately rolled out of the ring and limped up the aisle to the back as Colon raised his arm in victory.

As Colon made his exit... the music of Tres Locos hit! Out came the tro of Juventud Guerrera, Psicosis and Super Crazy... but the referees walking alongside Colon quickly stopped Crazy and Psicosis from walking to the ring. "What's going on here?" Tenay asked, "We're scheduled to see Brian Kendrick versus K-Krush now. Why is Juventud out here?" Juventud watched on in confusion as his allies were forced backstage, then continued his way to the ring.

"The following contest is scheduled for one fall," the ring announcer said, "And is an impromptu match, ordered by Kevin Sullivan!" Just then... Dan "The Beast" Severn's music hit! "Mike! I think I get it now!" Don West said, "Last week, Juventud jumped Sullivan. Tonight, Sullivan is using Severn to exact revenge! He didn't rig that coin toss to handicap Severn... he did to teach Juvi a lesson!" After Severn's entrance, Sullivan walked down to the ring and took a seat at ringside, watching intently as the bell sounded.

DAN SEVERN vs. JUVENTUD GUERRERA

Severn opened the match with a stiff forearm strike to the face, then side suplexed Juvi down for a two-count. Severn tried to lock in a submission hold on Juvi's arm, but Guerrera reached the ropes, forcing a break. Juvi took a few moments to collect himself outside the ring, then returned before the ref counted him out. Severn charged in, but Juvi raked his eye, then hooked him up and prepared to deliver the Juvi Driver!

Severn proved to be too heavy for Guerrera to muscle up, but Juvi quickly switched it up, taking Dan down with an inside cradle. Unfortunately, the move caused both men to spill too close to the ropes, making any pin attempts ineffective. The two grappled on the mat as Severn tried to lock in his trademark guillotine choke... but Juvi prevented it by reaching down and delivering a well-hidden punch to the groin!

Guerrera got up and kicked Severn's left leg several times, then dragged him away from the ropes and cinched in a kneebar. Severn struggled in the hold, but refused to submit. Guerrera repeatedly broke the hold to fire off a few kicks to the knee, then would return to it and continue to wrench away. Guerrera released the hold, realizing that Severn simply wouldn't tap out. He doled out a few shots to the knee, then headed up to the top rope. He leapt off, flipping into the 450... right down onto Severn's raised knees!

Despite taking the impact to his gut, Juvi managed to beat Severn to his feet. Juvi went for a huracanrana... but Severn immediately dropped him with a powerbomb! As Sullivan looked on gleefully, Severn stepped over Juvi's limp body and hooked on the guillotine choke. Guerrera submitted nearly instantly. "A big win for 'The Beast' heading into the match of his life," Tenay said, "Unfortunately, that's a tactic that won't bring him a victory, notr the gold next week."

WINNER: Dan Severn via submission at 10:26

"Mike, what's going on here?" West said as Severn shook his head, ignoring the referee's request he release the gold. Juvi's frantic squirming continued as Severn continued to choke him out. Guerrera slowly faded out, going limp. Severn released the hold and threw Juvi on his back... then grabbed the referee by the collar and shoved him down. He placed his boot on Juvi's chest, then shouted at the ref, ordering him to count the pinfall. He did as instructed and counted the unconscious Juvi's shoulders down. "What was that all about?" West asked.

"Don," Tenay said, "I think Severn is sending a message to Steve Corino! Just because Severn can't win by submission... it doesn't mean he can't choke Corino out and then pin him! Fans, the psychological edge may have just swung back into the favor of 'The Beast'! Either way, next week... we crown a new world champion! It's going to be... hold on! I'm getting word there's a commotion backstage! Tommy, what's going on? Can we get a camera back there?"

The shot cut to footage from a backstage camera man, running through a corridor to the site of the action. In the distance, a loud commotion was heard. Finally, K-Krush was seen, putting the boots to a downed Brian Kendrick amidst a pile of debris. "Hey, Spanky!" Krush shouted as he ground his boot into Kendrick's face, "Take this, bitch!"

After a few more vicious stomps, he pulled Kendrick up and drove his face into the wall repeatedly, then shoved him into a nearby chair. Krush took a moment to adjust the tape around his injured ribs, damaged in the cage match last week, then threw a side kick, smashing Kendrick's head into the wall! As Kendrick collapsed out of the chair, Krush tried to put him back in position for another skullcrushing kick. Luckily, backstage attendants grabbed Krush and pulled him back while medical personnel quickly pulled Brian to safety.

"What the hell is going on here?" Dory Funk Jr. said as he arrived on the scene. Krush smiled at him. "Series is over, man," Krush said, "Round five, the K-Krush Backstage Beatdown... I win. Tell Spanky when he wakes up that he lost... again. Stupid cracker ain't never beat K-Krush! What's my name, bitch?! What's my name?!" Krush continued shouting at Kendrick as he was carted away.

"Dammit!" Dory shouted, "I set this series up to stop this! I'm sick of you doing this, K-Krush. I'm not counting this match. The series is still on... and it ends next week! We're going to have you and Brian wrestle one last time... winner-take-all. However, you don't get to pick the style of match." Krush lunged at Dory menacingly, enraged at his proclamation. "You gonna get that cracker pick again?!" he shouted, "You go ask him! That bitch can't even tell you his momma's name right now!"

"No," Dory said, "Brian won't be picking either. I will! I suggest you be as prepared as possible next week, but both you and Brian are putting it ALL on the line! Get him out of my face! I want him out of this building now!" The stagehands did as the boss ordered, forcing Krush towards the nearest exit. "Wait!" Krush called back, "What do you mean by that?! What kind of match you talkin' about?!" Dory ignored Krush as he was dragged away and ejected from the arena.

"My God!" West said, "I just hope Brian Kendrick is okay... but the biggest show in NWATNA history just got even bigger! K-Krush versus Brian Kendrick just capped off a phenomenal card! Rey Misterio Jr. versus The Amazing Red, Christopher Daniels challenges Jushin 'Thunder' Liger for the X-Division Title, Jerry Lynn versus Ken Shamrock and the new NWA World Champion will be decided! Mike, it's going to be incredible!"

"Indeed," Tenay said, "But you're forgetting one important bout. Jeff Jarrett has been obsessed with the NWA World Title since the dawn of NWATNA. Next week, he has a chance to win a shot at the title... but he must defeat a man who seems equally obsessed with keeping Jarrett away from the title. Of course, I'm talking about Sting! Sting makes his NWATNA wrestling debut next week. What a show!"

JEFF JARRETT vs. TERRY FUNK

The main event for the week, spawned from Jarrett's demands for a new opponent for the NWA 54th Anniversary, kicked off with Jarrett on the aggressive, taking the fight right to the grizzled veteran, Funk. Jarrett quickly suplexed Terry down, then delivered a kneedrop to his craggy forehead. Jarrett made a cover, but Funk kicked out. A second pin attempt following a suplex was also thwarted by Funk.

Jarrett propped Funk on his shoulders for a Samoan drop... then headed up top to deliver the move from the top rope! Funk fought back, battering Jarrett's kidneys with punches as Jarrett lowered him onto the turnbuckle. As the grapplers struggled to keep their balance, they traded punches, making each other unsteady. Funk, dangerously close to be knocked off the top to the floor, performed a desperation eye rake, then clocked Jarrett, sending him down to the mat!

Jarrett got to his feet, but a double axe handle sent him right back down. Funk made a cover and got a long two-count, then pulled Jarrett up and began wailing away on him maniacally in the corner as the Texas crowd went wild! Funk pulled Jarrett out of the corner and hit a piledriver, then made the cover. Jarrett narrowly escaped, but Terry was undaunted. "Mike!" West exclaimed, "He's heading up top! It's time... for the Funkersault!"

Jarrett slowly got up as Terry scaled the ropes, looking for his crowd pleasing finisher. As Terry perched atop the rope... Jarrett delivered a uppercut to his tumbleweeds! Funk crotched himself on the turnbuckle, adding to the pain... then Jarrett grabbed his head and dropped him into a neckbreaker! He made the cover, but Funk refused to quit. With both men thoroughly ravaged with pain, Jarrett signalled for the end, calling for his Stroke. He pulled Terry up and stepped beside him... but Funk came to life and hiptossed Jarrett up and over the top rope to the floor!

Jarrett was visibly frustrated, then walked over and grabbed a steel chair. He folded it up and slid it into the ring, then moved towards the apron. Referee Mickey Jay easily spotted it and picked up the chair, then stepped across the ring to discard it. As he did... Jarrett pulled a guitar out from beneath the ring and clocked Funk with it! "No!" Don West shouted as Jarrett slid into the ring and made the cover, picking up the victory, "Jeff Jarrett... somebody has to stop this guy!"

WINNER: Jeff Jarrett via pinfall at 14:50

"Fans," Tenay said, closing out the show, "Next week, we come to you live from Corpus Christi as the NWA celebrates it's 54th anniversary! Six incredible matches are set and they're a steal at less than two dollars a piece! You owe it to yourself and to any fan of professional wrestling you know to check this show out! NWATNA continues it's rise to the top of the wrestling world. Don't miss your chance to be a part of it!"

As the show ended, Jarrett celebrated his cheap victory by holding the neck of the broken guitar high above his head. Just then... the lights went out! A spotlight scoured the rafters, finally settling on the image of Sting. Sting stood atop the arena, peering down into the ring as a blood-red spotlight shone on Jarrett. Jarrett trembled in fear as he looked up and saw Sting hold up his hands, raising seven fingers. Each one signified a day he must wait before finally getting his hands of Jarrett. For Jarrett, they signified perhaps a countdown to doomsday.

I was just about to post exactly that: just because Severn can't get a tap out doesn't mean he can't choke Corino out until he's able to pin him.

I have faith in C-Mil that he'll know what to do :) And plus, I still think we'll see the final Horseman during the match.

Thanks for that vote of confidence. I'll be posting the big show sometime this weekend, despite it already being written. Reasons for this should be obvious by the conclusion of this post. Thanks for reading everyone and best of luck!

Next: The NWA 54th Anniversary

By Katy-Jayne Myers

In four short days... the wait is over! NWATNA proudly presents a glimpse into wrestling’s past, a vision into wrestling’s future and the biggest two hour pay-per-view event in history... The NWA 54th Anniversary!

It’s been debated for months, but finally we will know... who will walk away the brand-new NWA World Champion? Will it be Dan “The Beast” Severn, a man some say was unfairly stripped of that title months ago? Or will it be Steve Corino, a man who claims to be destined to assume command of the NWA with a iron fist? These two titans will go head-to-head with all the gold on the line!

Since NWATNA’s genesis, he has lurked in the shadows, fixated on only one man. This Wednesday night, Sting will once again descend from the heavens and go face-to-face with Jeff Jarrett! For Jarrett, an opportunity to become NWA Champion hangs in the balance, but he must first topple the enigmatic foe who has cut him from the herd. Which man will move on to challenge for NWA gold and which man will be made an example of?

Twice before Jerry Lynn and Ken Shamrock have done battle. The first, as friends, the second, as bitter enemies. Wednesday, they meet a third time... where falls-count-anywhere! Which one of these stars can survive a battle not even the rings if NWATNA can hold? Find out at The NWA 54th Anniversary!

After a heinous assault by The Amazing Red, Rey Misterio Jr. was told he would never wrestle again. Wednesday, he steps into the ring to exact revenge on Red! If last Wednesday’s six-man match was any indication, Red had best beware the flying fury of Rey Misterio Jr.!

At long last, it will be decided as Brian Kendrick battles K-Krush in the fifth and final match of the best-of-five series. Dory Funk Jr. has stepped in and added a special “mystery stipulation” to this bout. After the wild cage match these two had two weeks ago, neither will hold anything back as they attempt to end the series once and for all!

Plus, Jushin Liger defends the NWA X-Division Title against Christopher Daniels, the new NWA Championship Committee member will debut and much more! Fans, if you’ve been supporting NWATNA each week, you know exactly how big this night is. If not, do yourself a favor and do not miss this event! $9.95 is a small price to pay to what will surely be the greatest night in NWATNA history!

T-Minus 10 Minutes: The NWA 54th Anniversary

By Jimmy Kirk

A video package aired, highlight the evolution of the NWA over the past half-century. From Lou Thesz to Dory Funk Jr. to Harley Race to Dusty Rhodes to Ric Flair to Sting, all of the great NWA Champions of years past were shown, along with images of the title belt. As the video closed, the stars of today were seen, giving a glimpse of the men who many one day be featured at a possible 100th anniversary program.

"Welcome to Corpus Christi, Texas!" Eric Shaffer said, standing in the concession area of the arena before a merchandise table as fans behind him purchased goods and snacks and waved to the camera, "We are just ten minutes away from the start of the biggest night in NWATNA history... The NWA 54th Anniversary! Fans, we've got six tremendous bouts, each with high stakes, scheduled to show you tonight. For just $9.95, you can see them all in their entirety! During the next ten minutes, I'm going to run them all down and hopefully get a few fans' opinions on them."

"One of the most exciting things about tonight's show will undoubtedly be the entrance of the enigmatic Sting," Eric said, "Sting has made sporadic appearances since the first NWATNA pay-per-view in June, but tonight he will actually lace up the boots for the first time! His opponent will be Jeff Jarrett and after the close of last week's show, it's obvious Sting has gotten into Jarrett's head."

"Sir," Shaffer said, leaning over to a twenty-something fan wearing an NWATNA T-shirt, "Who do you think will emerge from that match as the number-one contender?" Shaffer held the mike as the fan offered his insight. "Well, Sting's cool and all," he said, "But everybody knows Jarrett's dad is the owner, so... hey!" Shaffer quickly jerked the mike away from him. "Sorry about that," he said, "We're running low on time."

"Two NWA championships will be decided as Steve Corino battles Dan Severn to decide the new NWA World Champion," he said, "Not only that, but X-Division Champion Jushin Liger is going to take on 'The Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels. Both of these matches have been intensified by a bit of legitimate bad blood in recent weeks, but the winners will walk away with the gold!"

"Speaking of bad blood," he continued, "Two epic feuds will come a head right here in Corpus Christi. The first began in Memphis when Rey Misterio Jr. was brutally attacked by The Amazing Red. Red thought he had put Rey out of action for good, but this month he was proven wrong. Misterio is back in NWATNA and I'm not sure the ring is going to be able to contain all this bad blood!"

"One match I know the ring's not going to contain is the battle between Jerry Lynn and Ken Shamrock," he said, "These two will go head-to-head in the first-ever falls-count-anywhere match in NWATNA history! In their past two matches, we've seen a double-count-out and a double-disqualification. We won't have to worry about that tonight though! This thing could go all over the building! Heck... it could end right here amidst all these great fans!"

At their mention, the crowd cheered... but a few near the entrance began booing. The boos became louder as more fans saw the entrance of an NWATNA star to the building. The wreestler waded through the crowd and over to Shaffer. "K-Krush?!" Shaffer said, "What are you doing here? You're supposed to be backstage getting ready for tonight's show!"

"Shut up!" he said, "Don't you think I know where I'm supposed to be, dumbass?! Thanks to the damn piss-poor itinerary the championship committee provided me with, I'm late. Now, earlier this afternoon, Spanky and I were supposed to meet with that crusty old bastard, Dory Funk Jr. He was going to tell us the stipulation for our match tonight. I know you know, cracker. Tell me what it is!”

“I’m sorry,” Shaffer said, “I was told directly from Dory himself that it was need-to-know information. I’m sorry... but I don’t know. As far as I know, only Dory and I would assume Brian Kendrick know.” Krush frowned. “And Dory’s currently awaiting for the introduction of the newest member of the championship committee,” he said, “I’m afraid he’s occupied.”

“Dammit,” K-Krush said, “That little bitch Spanky ain’t gonna tell me. Boy, if I find out you’re lying to me...” Krush didn’t even need to finish. He shot Shaffer a menacing glare then walked off, heading to the back to continue his investigation. “Fans,” Shaffer said, as music played inside the arena and fans rushed inside to take their seats, “You’ll also see that match and a whole lot more! I’ve just heard word that a six-man tag team match has been added to the card and the participants are making their way to the ring as I speak. In a few minutes, Mike Tenay and Don West are going to take over from inside. For just $9.95... you can join them! Don’t miss it! Until next week, this is Eric Shaffer, signing off.”

Okay, in honor of the BIG show, for the first time in this diary's short history, I'm opening up a prediction contest. Not one... but two prediction contests. Anyone can enter either one or both if they wish.

The prizes are as follows:

- For the standard "pick a winner" contest, the winner will name the January 1st, 2003 show whatever they like. 2003 is going to be a big year for NWATNA and as the first show, it will be a major turning point.

- For the "high or low" contest, the winner will be allowed to add one singles match to the January 1st, 2003 card. It can be either a main-event bout featuring two top stars or a opening contest between two of the perhaps less-often used members of the roster, giving them a chance to shine.

Winners will receive a private message, notifying them of their win the night the show is posted.

All good? Good. On with the contest!

Guest :shifty:

I've been a big fan of this diary since it first started, but was too lazy to reply anything.

The NWA 54th Anniversary

NWA World Title Match

Guest Referee: Kevin Sullivan

Submissions Will NOT Count

Steve Corino (77, heel, old school heel, with Tully Blanchard)

vs.

Dan "The Beast" Severn (64, face, legitimate athlete)

Due to the stipulation putting the match on Corino's favour, I would believe Dan Severn win.

#1 Contender's Match

Sting's first NWATNA match!

Sting (93, face, unique)

vs.

"The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett (78, heel, chosen one)

Double J. Because he's the son of the owner. You also mentioned that Sting had sporadic appearances, which I believe its because of his cost. So I believe you will go with Jarrett.

Falls-Count-Anywhere Match

Ken Shamrock (79, heel, legitimate athlete)

vs.

Jerry Lynn (77, face, no gimmick needed)

I don't know about this... Maybe Lynn?

NWA X-Division Title Match

Jushin "Thunder" Liger (84, face, foreign star)

vs.

"The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels (81, tweener, legitimate athlete)

I believe all the matches that he went through were to build him up for the title... So yeah :)

Mystery Stipulation Match

Best-Of-Five Series Final

Brian Kendrick (78, face, fun babyface)

vs.

K-Krush (73, heel, rapper)

Spanky. Although there's also a probability of Krush winning due to SWERVE(because Krush doesnt know the stipulation, he's expected to lose), its the less over of the swerve and a double SWERVE would work as well <_<

Grudge Match

Rey Misterio Jr. (81, face, show stealer)

vs.

The Amazing Red (80, heel, highlight reel)

Red. He's younger, I don't think you won't build up future talent :P

Tie-Breaker Question: Which match will deliver the LOWEST overall rating and what is the rating? Closest answer wins.

Severn vs Corino. 71%

NWA World Title Match

Guest Referee: Kevin Sullivan

Submissions Will NOT Count

Steve Corino (77, heel, old school heel, with Tully Blanchard)

vs.

Dan "The Beast" Severn (64, face, legitimate athlete)

As I said.....you know the right thing to do.

#1 Contender's Match

Sting's first NWATNA match!

Sting (93, face, unique)

vs.

"The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett (78, heel, chosen one)

I have a feeling that we're going to be building to Jarrett/Corino some more.

Falls-Count-Anywhere Match

Ken Shamrock (79, heel, legitimate athlete)

vs.

Jerry Lynn (77, face, no gimmick needed)

Really, what with the two heels going over in the other two "main event" matches, one face needs to win. Lynn shall be that face.

NWA X-Division Title Match

Jushin "Thunder" Liger (84, face, foreign star)

vs.

"The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels (81, tweener, legitimate athlete)

Wow, Daniels gained some insane overness. It just won't be his night though.

Mystery Stipulation Match

Best-Of-Five Series Final

Brian Kendrick (78, face, fun babyface)

vs.

K-Krush (73, heel, rapper)

I like to think that after this feud is over, Krush will be getting a solid push.

Grudge Match

Rey Misterio Jr. (81, face, show stealer)

vs.

The Amazing Red (80, heel, highlight reel)

After Red "put him out" for all that time, Rey needs to get the win here.

Plus the NEW NWA Championship Committee member will be named and much more!

#3. The match quality rating for Misterio vs. Red was NOT 95% Was it higher or lower? Higher (I feel like I'm playing the Price is Right)

#4. The feud heat between Ken Shamrock & Jerry Lynn before the show was 82. After the show, it was NOT 84. Was it higher or lower? Lower (seeing as how the feud is ending....or at least should be ending)

#5. Brian Kendrick's overness before the show was 78. After the show, it was NOT 82. Was it higher or lower? Lower (same reason as above)

#6. The charisma rating for the new member of the committee is NOT 90. Is it higher or lower? Higher

Dangerous Details: The NWA 54th Anniversary

By "Danger" Will Riker

“Welcome to the biggest night in NWATNA’s history as we pay tribute to the past and take a step into the future!” Mike Tenay said as a shot of the special V.I.P. section was shown. Seated in it was the likes of Terry Funk, Harley Race, Jack Brisco, The Road Warriors, The Rock ‘N’ Roll Express and at least a dozen other former NWA luminaries, looking on as The Honky Tonk Man strutted his stuff on the way to the ring.

LOS COLONS vs. THE HONKY TONK MAN & ACID REIGN

“This match was spawned from the events of last Wednesday,” Tenay said, “Carlos Colon demanded a match with The Honky Tonk Man and these two young teams, Acid Reign and Los Colons, were eager to have a rematch.” The veteran team captains opted to start the bout as Carlos Sr. immediately slammed HTM down. Honky got up quickly, but another slam put him right back down. He made a blind tag to Eddie Colon, then as Honky got up and walked towards him... Carlos ducked allowing Eddie to score with a springboard dropkick!

Eddie headed up top and flattened Honky with a shooting star press, but Trent Acid pulled him off of the pin. Carlos Jr. got the tag in, then he and his brother floored Honky with a double armdrag. HTM immediately flopped over to his corner and tagged in Jayson Reign, then rolled out of the ring to catch a breather. Reign walked into a hiptoss by Carly, but blocked it by stepping on Carly’s calf, dropping him to one knee. From there, he raised his other leg up quickly, driving his knee into Carly’s chin!

With Carlos Jr. dazed, Reign headed up top, posing dramatically as Carly slowly stood up. Seconds later, he leapt off, hooking Carly’s head and driving him down with a DDT! “He calls that the Reign Drop!” Tenay said, “One! Two! No! Eddie makes the save! Great teamwork by Los Colons! I’m not sure Carly could’ve kicked out from that without his brother’s help.”

Reign snapmared Carly over, then tagged in Acid who blasted his seated foe with a yakuza kick! He made a cover but Carly remarkably kicked out. Acid stepped into a neutral corner and sized Carly up for another yakuza kick. He charged, driving his foot into Colon’s face viciously. Unfortunately... Carly raised his fist up and out, hitting Acid right between the legs! Both men collapsed as a result of the blow and began crawling towards their respective corners.

Colon tagged in his father first who rushed to stop Acid from tagging out. He grabbed Trent by the ankle... but let him go and slung Reign down with a belly-to-belly suplex as he entered the ring. Acid reached to Honky for the tag... but HTM wanted no part of it and withdrew his hand. Acid slowly got up... then slapped Honky on the shoulder, tagging him in whether he liked it or not. “Get in there, Honky!” Don West said, “Let’s see you back up your big talk!”

Colon threw Reign out of the ring, then turned around... right into a boot to the gut by HTM! Honky grabbed Carlos’ head and prepared to hit Shake, Rattle ‘N’ Roll. In the middle of it... Colon broke free and dropped Honky with a huge headbutt! He grabbed Honky’s leg and signaled for the inverted figure four, but Acid rushed to his partner’s aid.

Eddie Colon pulled Acid off of his father, then caught his foot as he attempted a yakuza kick. Reign rushed in, but Carlos Jr. used a neckbreaker to put him down. Together, the three Colons applied simultaneous inverted figure fours in the center of the ring! HTM, Acid and Reign all tapped out in unison, giving the Puerto Rican trio a big win and a measure of revenge from last week.

WINNERS: Los Colons via submission at 13:06

“What a match, Mike!” West said as Los Colons made a triumphant exit, “Fans, it was about three months ago when we visited Memphis, Tennessee for the first time. After our broadcast went off the air, The Amazing Red committed a violent and heinous assault on Rey Misterio Jr. We all thought it had ended Misterio’s career, but starting at Strength In Numbers in September, clues were dropped that perhaps Rey was coming back. The rumors were indeed true and Rey has come back to NWATNA!”

“However,” Tenay said, “This isn’t the same Rey Misterio Jr. NWATNA fans might remember. Due to the injuries, Rey has had to return to wearing a mask. However, unlike his days in Mexico, ECW and WCW, the mask is no longer a symbol of his proud heritage, but a symbol of the violent assault that nearly cost him everything. Rey Misterio Jr. is a man obsessed with revenge. Tonight, he hopes to achieve it by taking Red out... once and for all!”

THE AMAZING RED vs. REY MISTERIO JR.

Red entered first... and Rey didn’t even wait for his entrance music before rushing out and pitching Red into the ring! The bell sounded as Rey floored Red with a spinning heel kick, sending him scrambling towards the ropes, looking to escape. Rey blazed across the ring and grabbed the top and middle rope, swinging his body between them and kicking Red in the face, knocking him across the ring. Again, Red tried to crawl from the ring but Rey delivered another swinging kick, knocking him into the center of the ring.

From there, Rey delivered a springboard legdrop and made a cover. Red was more than content to lay there motionless and allow Rey to have him revenge. Rey, however, was not satisified at this and grabbed Red's hair and pulled him up! As Rey began pounding away on Red's forehead with big punches, the crowd went wild. "Rey's not going to let Red just get away," West said, "This is a blood feud, Mike... and we're going to see blood!"

Rey pulled Red up and swung a right hand... but Red caught it and twisted his arm, taking control for the first time. As Red held Rey's wrist, he fired off a few kicks to his ribs, then one to his masked face. Red quickly made a cover but Rey kicked out at two. Still rocked from the kicks, Rey slowly began to come to and Red stomped away on him. Red grabbed Rey's ankle and prepared to lock on a half crab... but Rey did a one-legged kip-up, then blasted Red with an enzuigiri!

Rey charged Red... but ran smack into a superkick! Rey collapsed to the mat, clutching his face as Red quickly dove outside the ring. "It looks like this could be Red's chance," Tenay said, "But he's not going to take it! Red's content to take the count-out loss just to get away!" With that, the referee counted to ten and called for the bell, awarding the match to the fallen luchador.

WINNER: Rey Misterio Jr. via count-out at 11:34

Red stood at the entrance for a moment, then watched on as medics tended to Rey and his reinjured face. He cracked a sinister smile before passing through the curtain and heading backstage. "This just isn't fair, Mike," West said, "This was supposed to be Rey's chance at revenge. It seems now Rey may have reinjured himself in the process. Despite all that, he is the winner."

Tenay began to address that... but was cut off as the music of Jeff Jarrett hit! "All right!" Jarrett said as he walked to the ring, "NWATNA is making me do this? Fine! Then I'm doing it now! Sting, get your ass out here! If I'm going to be forced into this match... I'm doing it now!" Jarrett climbed into the ring and peered up into the rafters. "Come on out!" he said.

"Forced?!" Tenay said, "Jarrett brought all this upon himself! He's the one who drew up the contract for this match and tried to get Tenacious Z to sign it. The championship committee is simply enforcing Jarrett's own stipulation! He's lucky to even be involved in a #1 contender's match such as this!" Jarrett continued looking skyward as Sting's music hit. Sting stepped through the curtain and walked towards the ring, taking each step with such calmness that Jarrett became even more on edge. "Fans, forget the wait!" Tenay said, "It's on!"

STING vs. JEFF JARRETT

Jarrett attacked Sting as he stepped through the ropes while referee Scott Armstrong called for the bell. As Jarrett pounded away on Sting's back... Sting grabbed him and hoisted him up with a side suplex! Jarrett got up quickly, but Sting rocked him with some punches, then delivered an inverted atomic drop before dropping Jarrett with a clothesline. The self-proclaimed "chosen one" quickly rolled out under the bottom rope to catch his breath while Sting howled to the crowd, bringing them to their feet!

"Ladies and gentlemen," Tenay said, "THAT is Sting! Accept no substitutions! Sting has finally hit the ring here in NWATNA and Jeff Jarrett is feeling it! After weeks of wondering if we'd ever see the Stinger in an NWATNA ring, it has finally become a reality!" Jarrett took a nine-count before returning to the ring... but walked right into a short gorilla press slam by Sting!

Sting locked on a reverse chinlock, but Jarrett got to his feet, causing Sting to shift into a sleeperhold. Jarrett threw back his leg, catching Sting in the groin... then pulled him in close and dropped him with the Stroke! "I don't believe it!" West said, "Jarrett hit the Stroke on Sting! The biggest comeback in NWATNA history could be over before it even starts!"

Jarrett made a cover... but Sting quickly pressed Jarrett off of him and stood up, growling and flexing his muscles as Jarrett backed his way into the corner. "Hit me!" Sting shouted, egging Jarrett on. Jarrett meekly stepped out of the corner and fired a punch at Sting, causing no effect. Sting again growled, spurning Jarrett on to hit him again. Again, Jarrett's attack did not faze him. Jarrett reached back and prepared to level Sting with a haymaker... then threw a kick square to his nuts!

Armstrong reprimanded Jarrett as Sting doubled over, but Jarrett ignored him and positioned Sting for a piledriver! Jarrett hoisted Sting up, but had to set him back down. He tried again and failed again. Seconds later, Sting stood up, dumping Jarrett behind him! Jarrett got up, but Sting slung him into the corner... then crushed him with the Stinger Splash! "There it is!" Tenay said, "And it's the precursor to...? YES! The Scorpion Death Lock! He's got it locked in! Jarrett gives it up! It's over!"

WINNER: Sting via submission at 10:16

"This is Sting!" Tenay said as the triumphant warrior scaled the turnbuckles, "And this is the man who is now on a collision course with the soon-to-be new NWA World Champion! Fans, Sting will challenge for the title on December 18th as NWATNA presents Zero Hour! However, the next chapter of NWATNA history cannot be written... before we finish this one!"

"That's right," West said, "You want to talk about history? Let's talk about the history between K-Krush and Brian Kendrick. Kendrick earned an NWATNA contract at X-Travaganza by winning a battle royal... but not according to Krush! Krush still maintains that Kendrick didn't win the match and has made it his personal mission to get rid of Kendrick. After repeated attack backstage throughout the summer, the NWA Championship Committee ordered a best-of-five series between these two!"

"Kendrick took the first match," Tenay said, "But Krush evened it up winning a table match. In a hysterical battle rap challenge, Kendrick took back the lead. Two weeks ago, the violence went off the charts as Krush defeated Kendrick inside a steel cage. Tonight is the deciding match... and we still don't know what kind of match this is going to be!"

BEST OF FIVE "SPECIALTY SERIES": MATCH FIVE

"MYSTERY STIPULATION" MATCH

BRIAN KENDRICK vs. K-KRUSH

Following his entrance, K-Krush approached referee Chuck Berry, shouting at him that he still didn't know the stipulation of the match. Berry shrugged his shoulders, informing K-Krush that he too was in the dark. Kendrick hit the ring and the bell rang, much to Krush's surprise. "I don't understand," Tenay said, "What kind of match are we going to see?!"

Krush abandoned his interrogation of Berry and attacked Kendrick, battering him with punches and then hooking him up for a suplex. Kendrick tried to counter with a small package, but Krush overpowered him and hoisted him up, then dropped him on his side across his knee! He made a cover but Kendrick kicked out. Krush administered a few hard punches as Kendrick got up but Brian fired right back, nailing Krush in the ribs which two weeks ago had been injured in the steel cage.

Kendrick pulled Krush towards the corner, then grabbed his head and set up for Sliced Bread #2! Krush managed reach the ropes, preventing Kendrick from pulling him further towards the turnbuckle. With his finisher thwarted, Brian merely sat out, spiking Krush with a stunner! Kendrick went for the pin, but Krush was again too close to the ropes for his plan to come to fruition. Kendrick climbed out of the ring, then scored big time with a springboard dropkick, knocking Krush back into the ropes. The force caused Krush's arms to land and pull down the top rope, trapping himself between the middle and top ropes.

The crowd cheered as Kendrick stalked his hapless prey. Kendrick punched Krush in the face, then ran across the ring and bounced off the ropes, connecting with another punch, then took off back towards the ropes. He continued bouncing off and striking Krush repeatedly as the crowd counted down. When they reached ten, Kendrick stopped and opened the ropes, allowing the woozy Krush to stagger to freedom. Without missing a beat, Kendrick rushed towards the ropes for a final blow... but Krush snapped to and speared him!

Krush collapsed atop Kendrick, but Kendrick kicked out at two, shoving Krush off of him. Berry started a ten-count as both men slowly got to their feet. At the count of seven, Kendrick got up but Krush wasn't far behind. Kendrick moved in... but walked right into Krush's version of Sliced Bread #2! Krush made the cover... but again Kendrick kicked out! "My God, Mike!" West said, "You have got to be kidding me! These two have given it everything they have and then some!"

Krush pulled Kendrick up and kicked him in the gut, then bounced off the ropes to drop the scissor kick. Kendrick stood up to evade the blow, then drove his boot into Krush's gut, hitting him with his own scissor kick! Krush kicked out of the pinfall, but his ribs were definitely hurting. Kendrick, sensing his opportunity, climbed up top to deliver the final blow. As Krush got to his feet, doubling over in pain, Kendrick leapt off... looking for a top rope scissor kick!

As Kendrick's leg lowered towards the back of Krush's head... K-Krush stood up! Remarkably, Kendrick showed great agility by planting his feet and making a perfect landing... then snatching up Krush's head and charging from the corner! "Sliced Bread #2!" West screeched, "One! Two! Three! What a match, Mike! Brian Kendrick wins it all!" With the fall registered and the bell rang, Kendrick dove from the ring and began high-fiving the fans at ringside as Krush looked on in disbelief.

WINNER: Brian Kendrick via pinfall at 14:31

SERIES FINAL SCORE: Brian Kendrick 3, K-Krush 2

"May I have your attention please?" a voice said. From the back, out stepped Dory Funk Jr. "Thank you," he said as the roaring crowd quieted a bit, "Now, I'm sure most of you are wondering what the stipulation is for this match. Well, I'll let you know. I know tonight is about honoring the past 54 years, but it's also about acknowledging the people who are going to take us into the next 54 years. Tonight, like it or not, both of these men had a chance to make a name for themselves... and one did."

"Brian Kendrick," he continued, "Tonight, you opened a door for yourself. You created a future in which fans around the world are going to know your name and when they talk about the future of wrestling... it will be mentioned. As for you, K-Krush... well, after tonight, the name K-Krush has no future! You see, fans... what you have just witnessed is a 'name versus name' match!"

"Name versus name?" West said, "I've heard of mask versus mask or hair versus hair... but name versus name?" As Funk spoke, Kendrick walked up the ramp next to him while Krush looked on in bewilderment. "Because you're the winner," Funk said, "You get to keep your name. As for you, sir... you need a new one. And... who better to give you one than Brian Kendrick?!" With that, Funk passed the mike to Kendrick as Krush rubbed his forehead in disbelief.

"Hey," Kendrick said, "This all started because you didn't respect me. This all started because you didn't think I deserved to be here in NWATNA. Well, just like I earned my contract, tonight I hope I earned your respect. You see, I've respected you all along, even though you made it pretty damn hard to do so. Every time you attacked me backstage instead of challenging me to fight like a man... I lost a little bit of respect for you. Now, looking at you after I pinned your shoulders... I don't know why I respected you at all."

"You're a bully," he continued, "You tried to bully me out of here... but you see now how well that worked! Brian Kendrick is NWATNA today, tomorrow and for as long as I want to be! As for K-Krush? K-Krush is no more. I think we all know what you would do here if you had won, Krush. Fans would be saying hello to 'Spanky', since that's your little nickname for me. Well, I have a nickname for you too. Fans, say hello... to BUCKWHEAT!"

Kendrick's music hit as he slapped a few more hands on his way to the back. Meanwhile, the crowd began chanting "Buckwheat" at the former K-Krush, much to his chagrin. Buckwheat climbed out of the ring and put his hands over his ears, heading to the back and only stopping briefly to shoot an angry glare towards Dory Funk Jr. who let out a hearty laugh at his expense. After Buckwheat passed through the curtains, Funk climbed into the ring and the chants died down, allowing the championship committee member to again speak.

"As some of you may know," he said, "About a month ago, I got word that the NWA Board Of Directors had requested I take on a partner to help me manage this company. Now, I didn't take it that well, but luckily I had my brother talk me out of leaving. Tonight, I'm here to introduce this man to you all. However, there's something else I want to do also. I want to ask this man, man-to-man, if we can work together. Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, I give you... Shane Douglas."

A remixed version of Deep Purple's "Perfect Strangers" hit and out came the former WWF, WCW and ECW star known as "The Franchise". Douglas wore a nice suit and smiled as he walked to the ring, surprising fans with his rather sedate demeanor as compared to his outlandish antics in ECW. Douglas climbed into the ring and pulled a microphone from his coat pocket, then looked out into the crowd.

"Thank you all," he said, "And thank you, Dory, for that warm, if not reluctant, welcome. I'm here because the NWA Board Of Directors has asked me to be here and because I believe that NWATNA has what it takes to show those backwards-ass people up north that they're not alone in this damn business. Now, I'm going to conduct myself with some professionalism, of course... but I'll be daned if I'm not going to say it at least once, just for my fans. NWATNA... prepare to have your ass franchised!"

The crowd cheered, but an annoyed Dory Funk Jr. interrupted them. "Hold on a damn minute!" he said, "Before you go 'franchising' anything, we've got to get something straight here, kid. Now, you know exactly what I'm talking about. 1995, you stood in the center of the ring... and you threw down the NWA World Title! You threw down the belt and you pissed on a legacy that I helped create and a legacy that tonight we're here to celebrate! I don't know why, of all people, the NWA Board chose you... but I want to know exactly why you're here."

"Dory," Douglas said, "Believe me, I can understand why you're upset. What I did, all those years ago... you're not the only one who hasn't forgiven me for it. You've got to look at the big picture though. What I did to the NWA Title that night... what I did gave birth to Extreme Championship Wrestling. What I did was I took a company and I brought it to the next level. You want to know why I'm here? Why the NWA brass wanted me here? That's why!"

"I look out here in this arena tonight," he said, "And I see 54 years of history looking back at me... and I'm damn proud to be a part of it. However, you keep looking in the past and you'll never see the future. Do you want to know the secret of the number-one promotion in the world today? It's not because they've got more money. It's not because they've got better wrestlers. It sure as hell isn't because their creative department is better, and Dean Douglas will back me up on that! It's because when the time came, they looked towards the future and they weren't afraid of change."

"I'll be honest with you," he said, "I'm not here to keep order. I'm not here to maintain the status quo. I'm here to change this company and to take it to the next level! That and that alone is why I'm here. You said you wanted to know if we can work together? I say it would be an honor... but I'm not sure. The bottom line is... do YOU think we can work together? If you think you're ready to take NWATNA to the next level, then we're in business. If not, you let me know now because I'm not interested in wasting my time." Douglas lowered his microphone and stared at Funk. Funk stared right back, mulling it over as he looked into the eyes of the man who at one time tried to destroy everything he had worked so hard to try to create. After a few moments, he slowly and carefully extended his hand... which Douglas shook.

"There you have it!" Shane said, "This is the dawn of a new era for NWATNA! To all the boys watching up north... that sound you just heard was the first shot fired! The war is coming straight to you! Get ready!" The crowd cheered Douglas' battle cry and the new leaders of NWATNA left the ring together, heading to the back to formulate a battle strategy.

"My God!" West said, "Shane Douglas has arrived in NWATNA! Can you believe it? 'The Franchise' is here. One thing is certain. After tonight... nothing in NWATNA is going to be the same again! Can you imagine what Shane Douglas is going to do next week when he has control? I know we've got Dory Funk Jr. to keep him from going too far, but... oh, man! I can't wait to see NWATNA get franchised!"

"Don, NWATNA held their first show on June 19th," Tenay said, "That night, Jerry Lynn and Ken Shamrock wrestled in their first one-on-one match ever. The result was a double-disqualification. A few weeks later, Shamrock was sidelined with a separated shoulder. He returned to NWATNA in August and cost Jerry Lynn a spot in the Bunkhouse Stampede. At the Stampede, Lynn returned the favor and cost Shamrock the victory. Moments after we went off the air, we saw Lynn and Shamrock wrestle again, this time to a double count-out. Tonight, Lynn versus Shamrock III... no count-outs, no-disqualifications, falls-count-anywhere!"

FALLS-COUNT-ANYWHERE MATCH

JERRY LYNN vs. KEN SHAMROCK

The war began in the center of the ring where Ken took control after a big back suplex. He left the ring and walked over to the V.I.P. section, then ripped a walking stick away from former NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Danny Hodge and took it to the ring. "Shamrock is going to take every advantage of this no-disqualification structure," Tenay remarked as Ken began wailing away on Lynn with the cane.

After shattering the stick over Lynn's spine, Shamrock drilled him into the mat with a killer tiger bomb. Instead of going for a cover, Shamrock left the ring again and took up a steel chair, then pitched it inside and climbed back into the ring. He pulled Lynn up and gripped him tightly, preparing to deliver his triple belly-to-belly combo onto it! He slung Jerry down onto the chair with the suplex, then pulled him up in preparation for the second.

Lynn, desperate to take his first offensive stance in the match, quickly began firing off punches to break Ken's grip. Ken lifted Lynn up for a second belly-to-belly, but another punch knocked him off-balance, causing him to collapse to the mat. Unfortunately for Lynn, as Ken dragged him down, he draped Lynn's throat across the top rope, throttling him fiercely!

Both men were down, but Ken was first to recover. He screamed in anger, signalling it was time for the kill. Lynn struggled to get to his feet... but turned and waffled Shamrock with the chair! As Ken reeled from the blow, Lynn struck again, denting the chair over his head! Lynn leapt up for a huracanrana and took Ken over the top rope, ending with both men sprawled out at ringside. Lynn draped his arm over for the cover and referee Jim Molineaux rushed from the ring, but was too late to get any more than two before Ken kicked out.

Lynn ripped the floor mat up, exposing the concrete below. He pulled Shamrock up and positioned him for a piledriver on the cement! Shamrock tried to back body drop Lynn, but Jerry's tenacity and a few well-placed punches to the kidneys prevented it. Shamrock stood up as Lynn hung on... then flung Lynn down with a fly swatter, causing a sickening smack sound to echo throughout the arena as Jerry's back slapped against the cold, hard floor. Shamrock made a lazy cover, but it was still good enough for a two-count.

As the crowd chanted "holy shit" in reference to the move, Shamrock peeled the rest of the mat up, then reached in the ring and grabbed the chair. He propped it up at ringside, then pulled Lynn in close and delivered a killer Russian leg sweep onto it, completely breaking and flattening the chair! "My God, Mike!" West said as Lynn escaped yet another pin attempt, "How far are these two going to take this thing?!"

Shamrock climbed up onto the apron and leapt off, looking for a kneedrop. Lynn rolled to safety... and Ken's knee was driven into the concrete! As both men got to their feet, Lynn delivered a spinning heel kick, knocking Ken's back against the guard rail. Lynn quickly capitalized, hooking Ken up for another attempt at the piledriver... but Ken managed to counter by backdropping Lynn over the rail into the front row! The crowd, getting the best view of all as the brawl spilled into the stands, chanted "this is awesome" at the combatants.

Shamrock missed a clothesline and Lynn quickly dropped him with a dropkick to the knee, then headed back towards the rail. He perched atop it... then leapt backwards, forcing Ken to make an NFL-style catch with a death-defying moonsault! The crowd again went ballistic and their cheers completely drowned out Molineaux's decree that Shamrock had yet again kicked out at two.

Both men writhed on the floor in agony as a result of the brutal battle, but it was Shamrock who recovered first. He slowly made his way back to the rail, then climbed over it and collapsed at ringside. Lynn followed suit, but Shamrock was desperate to create some distance and fired off a few punches, preventing Lynn from jumping the rail. Lynn caught one of the fists and twisted Ken's arm... then began walking across the rail as he held it, ala the WWE's Undertaker! He stopped in the middle and jumped off, grabbing Shamrock's head and twirling him down into a tornado DDT!

"This is awesome!" West hoarsely exclaimed, echoing the sentiment of the crowd, "These two are holding absolutely nothing back!" Lynn decided to add insult to injury by delivering a belly-to-belly suplex to Shamrock... then pulled him up for a second one! As he tried to complete the trifecta, Shamrock grapevined his leg, blocking it. Shamrock wriggled free... then whipped Lynn head-first into the ringpost, leaving a bright red smudge across it as his forehead exploded. Almost like a shark smelling blood, Shamrock swooped in and hooked Lynn's leg, then propped his own leg on the guard rail for additional leverage. He gripped the tights as Lynn's legs flailed but were unable to escape the pin.

WINNER: Ken Shamrock via pinfall at 19:07

"Incredible!" West said as Shamrock rushed towards the exit, raising his arms in victory, "By hook or by crook, Shamrock gets the duke. Jerry Lynn has nothing to be ashamed of here... but the record books will show that tonight was Ken's night!" After Shamrock's hasty retreat, Molineaux helped Lynn up. The blood was flowing fast and furious from the head wound, dripping down his face and chest, completely disguising any disappointed expression. The referee quickly rushed Lynn to the back, likely for some medical attention and certainly for a healthy amount of stitches.

Christopher Daniels' music hit and out came the challenger for the X-Division Title match. He was met with a great ovation from the fans, but ignored them and kept his focus as he strode to the ring. "Christopher Daniels secured this opportunity overseas," Tenay said, "He won a great tournament in World Japan Pro Wrestling, in his opponent's own home country. It's an international affair tonight and the NWA X-Division Title is on the line!"

The champion, Jushin "Thunder" Liger was next out, met with applause and a bevy of streamers from a few puroresu fans in attendance. Liger nodded to the crowd, acknowledging their respect, then made a pass by the V.I.P. section in the crowd and saluted them as well before entering the ring and graciously bowing to his opponent. After the introduction, the bell sounded and the match began.

NWA X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. JUSHIN LIGER (champion)

Liger extended his hand for a handshake which Daniels quickly and dismissively accepted... then floored the champ with a standing dropkick. He immediately pounced atop Liger for a cover but before referee Mark Johnson could even get into position Liger had gotten back up. Daniels took Liger down with a leg takedown and hooked him in a submission hold, but Liger reached the ropes for the break. "The challenger is very aggressive here in the opening moments," Tenay said, "Daniels realizes this is his opportunity and he's not going to take it for granted."

Both men got up and circled the ring, then locked up. Liger twisted Daniels' arm and held him at bay... but Daniels overpowered him by pulling him in close and driving him down with a uranage throw. He bounced off the middle rope and sprang up to the top, launching into the Best Moonsault Ever. Liger rolled out of the way, but Daniels impressively recovered by landing on his feet. Liger kipped up and raised his fists, engaging in a stand-off with Daniels as the crowd went ballistic!

The two sized each other up once more, then locked up again. This time, it was Daniels who took control, bridging Liger down with a top wristlock. Daniels forced Liger's shoulders down for a two-count but he shifted and raised his right before three. After shifting the pressure to Liger's right side, Daniels got another near fall before Liger lifted the left. Liger bridged up and powered his way back to a vertical base... but Daniels swung his leg behind Liger's, tripping him and forcing him back down. Daniels, still holding Liger's hands to the mat, sprang up... but Liger countered by raising his feet and thrusting them into Daniels' gut, sending him up and over to the mat!

Liger rolled on top of Daniels, still locking hands with him. He stomped at Daniels' arms, forcing him to release his grip, then dropped a lightning quick elbow right into the heart of the "Fallen Angel". Liger made a cover but Daniels kicked out at two. Liger dropped another elbow, then wrapped his arm around Daniels' head and locked him in a headlock. Daniels fought his way to his feet and fired a few elbows into his ribs, breaking the hold. Liger whipped Daniels into the turnbuckle... but Daniels leapt up to the middle rope and pounced off, delivering the Best Moonsault Ever to his standing foe!

"One! Two! NO!" West exclaimed as Johnson counted the pin, "Daniels almost had it!" Liger quickly got to his feet, but Daniels used a crushing flying knee strike to his head, striking him with such force that one of the horns adorning his mask was severed and skipped across the ring! Daniels made another cover and Liger made another incredible kickout as the crowd cried out in surprise. "Fallen Angel! Jushin Liger!" they cried, unable to pick a winner.

Daniels hooked Liger up for Last Rites... but Liger spun out of it and hoisted Daniels up, dropping him with a brutal fisherman's buster! Liger headed up top and launched into the shooting star press, but Daniels was nowhere to be found at the point of impact. With the crowd boisterously cheering both men on, Daniels got up and hit Liger with a spinning heel kick, then pulled him up and hooked him in a reverse DDT position. "This could be it!" Tenay said, "He's going to give the champion his Last Rites!"

Again, Liger spun around and hooked Daniels' neck... then hoisted him up for a brainbuster! As Liger held him, Daniels shifted in mid-air and landed on his feet behind him. He spun Liger around and hooked him up for Angel's Wings... but Liger powered out with a backdrop. Amazingly, Daniels tumbled across Liger's back and landed on his feet! Liger spun around and fired a vicious palm thrust at Christopher... but Daniels ducked and swooped underneath Liger, hoisting him up onto his shoulders! He spun around and splattered Liger into the mat with a killer F-5, then made the cover. Despite a valiant effort, the champ was unable to escape.

WINNER & NEW NWA X-DIVISION CHAMPION: Christopher Daniels via pinfall at 13:48

"Match of the year! Match of the year!" the crowd chanted as Johnson presented the X-Division Title to it's new owner. Liger slowly got to his feet as Daniels remained on his knees, staring into his newly-won prize. Liger walked over and pulled Daniels to his feet, then extended his hand and bowed in respect. After emerging victorious in the hard-fought bout, Daniels smiled and shook his hand, this time with much more sincerity than before the bout. The two incredible athletes embraced in the center of the ring as the "match of the year" chants continued.

"What a match!" Tenay said, "We've got a new X-Division Champion! As great as that was folks... it wasn't even the main event! We've got one more title match to go and it's for all the marbles! This past August at Bunkhouse Stampede, Dan Severn and Steve Corino secured their spots in this historic contest. Tonight, Severn is going to try to reclaim a title he believes was wrongfully taken from him. Corino, hell-bent on taking over, tries to establish dominance. No matter what, after 54 years of incredible history... a new page will be written tonight!"

An alternate version of the video package from the top of the show as triumphant music played as images of the great former NWA World Champions flashed on the screen, each being presented with the title. As the evolution of the title unfolded, the music slowly faded into the opening of another song. As a shot of Sting wearing the gold appeared, the video kicked in with footage of the vicious rivalry between Severn and Corino over the past few weeks played over top of Union Underground's "South Texas Deathride".

During the instrumental solo portions of the song, the audio from Corino's passionate sppech in which he told Severn he would never submit the NWA World Title to him played. "So, come on! Come on! Come on! Get up! Get up!" blared as the song kicked back in and the video continued chronicling the feud. The closing moments saw a bloody Corino secure the stipulation contract at Breaking & Entering and Severn's post-choke out pinfall of Juventud Guerrera, then the NWA World Title was shown and the video faded out.

The NWA World Title was seen once again, this time live as Kevin Sullivan held it high above his head. Steve Corino made his way to the ring, sans The Extreme Horsemen. "Earlier today, I talked with Tully Blanchard," Don West said, "He said that Corino wants to do this on his own. He's brimming with confidence here tonight, folks... and he'll need to be because as we learned last week's, his opponent has a definite strategy." Seconds later, Dan Severn's theme hit and "The Beast" marched to the ring, kicking off the biggest main event in NWATNA history.

NWA WORLD TITLE MATCH

SPECIAL REFEREE: Kevin Sullivan

DAN SEVERN vs. STEVE CORINO

Corino jumped the gun, attacking Severn before the bell and opening up with rapid-fire right hands to his forehead. Corino scooped and slammed Severn down, then delivered a fistdrop to him before making a cover. Sullivan gave Corino a normal count but Severn kicked out at two, far from finished. Corino tried a bit too early for the Old School Expulsion and Severn escaped, but the "New Nature Boy" managed to level him with a clothesline, stopping him from taking control.

Corino went for a fisherman's suplex but Severn freed his leg, then reversed the suplex. He quickly began hammering away on Corino, busting Corino's forehead stitches and opening the two-week-old wound slightly. He pulled Corino up then lifted him up high before dropping him stomach first across his knee. As Corino clutched his aching abdomen, Severn leveled him with a running clothesline, knocking him over the top rope to the floor. On the way down, Corino's head hit the ring apron, blowing the small cut wide open.

Sullivan refused to count Corino out and ordered Severn to leave the ring as well, demanding he keep the fight going. "Mike, Kevin Sullivan isn't going to award the title to a count-out winner," West said, "With submissions out of the questions, thanks to the stipulation Corino placed on this thing, it looks like this is only going to end with a one-two-three!"

Severn did as instructed and left the ring to retrieve Corino. Corino, in a bloody haze, threw a wild punch at Severn which was easily ducked. As Corino spun around... Severn grabbed him in a waistlock and obliterated him with a German suplex throw! Severn tossed Corino back into the ring, then signaled to the crowd that it was time for the guillotine choke! He climbed into the ring and stalked Corino as he got up... then shot in and hooked it on!

Corino instinctively rushed towards the corner, driving Severn's back into the turnbuckle. He assumed he had broken the hold, but as he moved back away... Severn followed him, hanging on for dear life. Incredibly, as Severn struggled with the hold, Corino bridged backwards and drove him down with a Northern lights suplex! Severn's shoulders were down and he had no choice to release the hold or he would have been pinned. Severn let go and raised his shoulder just before Sullivan counted to three.

Both men got to their feet... then the relentless Severn again went for the choke! As he tried to lock it in, Corino hoisted him up and dropped him with an inverted atomic drop. Corino threw a punch... but Severn caught it and pulled him in close, finally locking in a standing guillotine choke! "This is his strategy and he is not deviating from it!" Tenay said, "The 'no-submission' stipultion has obviously gotten into the head of 'The Beast'! He's trying to put Corino down with the choke, then go for the pin!"

"Mike, Corino could tap out here, but it wouldn't do any good!" West said, "Perhaps when Corino agreed to that stipulation, he was thinking more about the NWA Title than his own physical well-being!" Severn had the choke locked in tightly, but Corino struggled to stay vertical, refusing to let Dan pull him down to the mat. Corino reached for the ropes and came within inches, but they might as well have been miles because Severn's ring awareness kept the hold in the center of the ring.

Finally, after a few moments, Corino dropped to one knee, fading out. Sullivan stepped in and raised his arm in the air. Corino held on, keeping the arm up, showing he wasn't yet finished. He fired off a few punches to Severn's kidneys but the angle at which they came from prevented any serious damage. Finally, desperate to escape the vice-like grip... Corino turned his face toward Severn's face, opened wide... and bit down hard!

"Will you look at this?!" West said, "Corino refuses to quit! This is incredible!" As Steve's teeth sunk into Severn's flesh, "The Beast" screamed in agony. Severn tightened his grip around Corino's head, but Corino in turn clenched his jaw even tighter. Finally, unable to take the pain any longer, Severn let up on the choke, allowing Corino to quickly slip his head free. Without missing a beat, Corino reached up, pulled Dan's down... then twisted him into the Old School Expulsion!

"One! Two! THREE!" West cried out, "My God, it's over! Steve Corino has done it!" The bell sounded and Corino's music hit. Tully Blanchard and C.W. Anderson rushed out and pulled Corino's bloody carcass off the mat, then held him up as Sullivan presented him with the gold. Corino stared at his mangled reflection in the belt, raised it high... then dropped to his knees.

WINNER & NEW NWA WORLD CHAMPION: Steve Corino via pinfall at 11:49

"What emotion!" West said, "What a night! A new #1 contender in the incomparable Sting! A new NWA Championship Committee member in 'The Franchise' Shane Douglas! A new X-Division Champion in Christopher Daniels! And now... a new NWA World Champion! Mike, the face of NWATNA has changed! Two hours ago, everything was different. Where is the future taking us? What do the next 54 years have in store?"

"Don, there's only one way to find out," Tenay said, "Join us next week from Nuevo Laredo, right on the border, for Devils' Night! For Don West, NWA: Total NonStop Action, the NWA Championship Committee, all of the past, present and future stars of the National Wrestling Alliance and everyone here, this is Mike Tenay saying thank you for joining us tonight and we'll see you next Wednesday! The road to NWA 55th begins!"

I knew you'd know the right thing to do! :D

Now, some other comments.

The Rey/Red match was severely disappointing. Would have liked to see an actual match out of it.

Buckwheat? Perhaps my hopes in a Krush push were misplaced. I would rather see him get a push than Kendrick, but unless we're going for Killings vs Adminstration, then he's pretty screwed.

Liger vs Daniels was crazy. Figures, the only time I don't expect Liger to lose, he loses.

I'm kinda surprised that Sting won. Guess we'll see some more of Jarrett trying to sneak deals around to people to get back in contention, unless you're bringing in a new title.

Overall, bang-up job, C. Especially with Corino. While I have no idea what "OJ of the Dome" means, it looks like you dodged that bullet with ease.

The OJ of the dome was actually quite horrid when you think about it. I was going for someone who would stab two people in the hearts and not think twice about it. Cause let's face it, both of us would have had our hearts torn out had Corino not won the title. But since Corino has the title, we're all good here.

The only "WTF" moment of this entire show has got to be Killings. While that fued didn't exactly inspire me, the Buckwheat thing just seems to have ruined a very good athlete. But then again, this could be an Angle thing, with the "You Suck" chants replaced by "Buckwheat" chants. It could work, but he's got to have some big opponents for that to work out.

Liger/Daniels...Made the right decision here. Daniels is an incredible athlete, and really should be the corner stone of the X-Division. Could he be this version's AJ Styles? Not to mention chararacter wise, he's so much better then Liger.

The opening six man was a simple throw together, and I have no interest in any of those men, except for Honky when he does Honky Talk. The Colons are traditional, but they just don't seem to fit in this company. Just a personal opinion there.

Sting. What to say about Sting. He really shouldn't be fueding with Jarrett in my opinion. Although it works diary wise, Jarrett really doesn't need that rub. Then again it keeps Jarrett away from the World Title, so it's all good on that front I guess.

Okay. Since it's been posted and everyone's hip to the eventual end to the big build-up, I guess I can address these points without giving anything away...

Corino vs. Severn: I was just honestly trying to make it seem like Danny had a snowball's chance by booking him as the underdog so much (wrestling logic says that's right) but that's what it was. It's an odd dichotomy. The NWA Title is both full of lineage and a new beginning. I felt having Severn (the former champion pre-TNA) do the job lent a deal of credibility to it. Trust me. I'd had already crucified myself before you guys would've had the chance in the event Severn won.

Rey vs. Red: I've had a lot of EWR generated problems in terms of booking this feud, many of which a better writer could've worked around. Judging by the scores, it deserved a much better match than I wrote, but I chose to write in respect to the next leg of this storyline.

Buckwheat: This storyline will be a definite "love it or hate it" one. I'm trusting people will give it a chance.

Liger vs. Daniels: The stars just aligned for that. I have no idea how it happened, but I felt it was a pretty seamless transition for the X-Division's Liger era to the Daniels era. If I could've figured a way to make it the main event... it deserved it.

Sting: In a weird way, I think it actually developed a bit of sympathy for ol' Double J, getting crushed by the Stinger. Because Sting's PPA rates are so high and I'm running upwards of three shows a month, a written contract was the way to go. I don't care how Dixie Carter does things. I plan on getting my money's worth out of this.

The opener: Yeah, it was throw together... but with the card I'd set forth, any one of those matches could potentially stand as a main event any other week. None deserved to jerk the curtain. Just a judgment call. Right or wrong, it was pretty harmless.

Anyway, the story is pretty much written in chapters and I'd say this would be the end of Chapter One. With a champ decided, things are finally looking ready to calm down and stabilize for the characters. Unfortunately for them, Chapter Two has already begun.

Thanks to everyone who's helped this diary crack the 2,500 view mark. :) Couldn't have done it without you. Well, I could I suppose... but it'd take a really long time and be quite boring and unsatisfying, I'd wager.

Next: Devils' Night

By Katy-Jayne Myers

Thanks to all the fans who helped make last Wednesday's show our biggest and best yet! However, if you thought NWATNA had nothing left to offer... you're wrong! This Wednesday, NWATNA returns to pay-per-view with Devil's Night, live from Nuevo Laredo!

The new NWA World Champion Steve Corino will be on hand for an epic victory celebration, hosted by none other than The Honky Tonk Man! Fans of Corino are already looking forward to the new champion's first public address, but none may be watching as closely as the new #1 contender, Sting!

Sting's title shot will come on December 18th, but the NWA by-laws state the title must be defended every thirty days. Somebody is going to get a shot at the belt before that date... but who? Rumors are circulating that the newest member of the championship committee Shane Douglas will have that answer this week!

One match confirmed for Wednesday features two men who need a win in the worst way. After both suffering embarrassing losses at The NWA 54th Anniversary, The Amazing Red will go one-on-one with the former K-Krush, Buckwheat. For one of these men, their woes will continue while the other hopes to turn it around and build some momentum back.

Plus, NWATNA has invited wrestlers from across the border to join the card. We can now confirm that the legendary rudo team of Los Villanos will take on former WCW stars Silver King and El Dandy, Los Fabulousos! Only one of these teams will earn an invitation to the Iron Team Challenge on November 20th! Which will it be?

All this will occur, plus a lot more! Celebrate Halloween Eve with NWATNA this Wednesday night!

T-Minus 10 Minutes: Devils' Night

By Jimmy Kirk

As the preshow kicked off, the entire NWATNA roster, barring a few notable exceptions were assembled backstage, seated at a series of tables with an empty podium at the front of the room. "Dory never did anything like this before," Sonny Siaki said, whispering to Jorge Estrada, "I wonder what's up." Moments later, the door opened... and in walked "The Franchise" Shane Douglas.

"Good evening, everyone," he said, stepping up to the podium, "Thanks for being here tonight. I've called you all here because I want to talk to you a bit about the new direction of NWATNA. Now... hold on a second. Where is everybody? I said I wanted everybody here for this. Where's Jeff Jarrett?" Douglas searched through the group, trying to spot Jarrett.

"I saw him earlier," Trent Acid said, "He said he was blowing off this thing. Seemed sort of pissed off." Douglas smirked. "That's fine," Shane said, "Any of you see him around tonight, you tell him 'The Franchise' is looking for him. Anyway... our new champion, Steve Corino... where's he at?"

"Hey!" Buckwheat shouted as he stood up, "Why don't you worry a little less about who ain't here and say what you got to say?! We all got stuff to do here! I got a match later I got to get ready for!" Douglas glared at him. "You're right," he said, "I guess Steve's running late. His loss. Sit down, please... Buckwheat." As Douglas made mention of K-Krush's new moniker, the group let out a collective stifled chuckle as Buckwheat took his seat, seething.

"Well, Steve will just have to find this out on his own time," Douglas continued, "You see, Sting will get an NWA Title shot on December 18th. However, the NWA by-laws state the title must be defended once a month. Thus, Steve Corino will defend the NWA Title in November... against someone in this room right now!" The wrestlers all looked around, sizing up their competition and wondering who it would be.

"Brian Kendrick," Douglas said, "Last night, Dory Funk Jr. told you that you made a name for yourself. He was right. By virtue of your win at our biggest pay-per-view in history, you've earned yourself a spot in a number-one contender's match tonight, Brian!" Kendrick stood up, completely speechless at the news.

"As for your opponent," Douglas said, "He also got a big win last night. Ken Shamrock... you, sir, are in that match as well! Tonight, it will be Brian Kendrick versus Ken Shamrock to determine the number-one contender!" Shamrock stood up and looked across the room at Kendrick, looking at him like a lion spotting a wounded zebra.

"Gentlemen," Douglas concluded, "This is only the beginning. NWATNA is now the 'land of opportunity'. You win matches, you'll be rewarded. It's that simple. No more of this political crap and... no more 'cliques'. You want to go for the gold? You've got to earn it. Kendrick, Shamrock... best of luck to you both. The rest of you... I'll be watching. You all tell Jeff Jarrett to come find me as soon as possible."

With that, Douglas stepped away from the podium. Shamrock continued to stare down Kendrick as Los Colons and Chris Sabin patted their X-Division brethren on the back, congratulating him on his opportunity. All the while, the former K-Krush got up and stormed out, completely disgusted with what had just transpired.
