Great Classical Songs

Recommended Posts

I don't know how to describe what I'm looking for. I guess dramatic classical songs that really give you the goosebumps and just give you a dramatic feeling when you listen to them. If anybody knows of any, please let me know.

If movie themes count... anything by John Williams is awesome. It's all classical style, with big orchestras and whatnot.

Jurassic Park

Harry Potter

Star Wars

Indiana Jones

...to name but a few.

Also all the stuff seen on Proms, like the Hornpipe, Rule Britannia, Pomp and Circumstance, that kind of stuff.

Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, it isnt dramatic but damn it is dark and moody. And reminds me of Resi 1.

5th Symphony by Beethoven, you'll know it when you hear it.

Air on a G-String, fantastic stuff. Again, it isnt dramatic but it is very good.

7th Symphony by Motzart.

Requiem by Motzart.

Carmina Burana by Carl Orff is proper tingly classical music - my favourite piece.

Moonlight Sonata is great, as it the Sorcerers's Apprentice by Paul Dukas.

I also enjoy Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner but it's been mentioned before.

And the Pomp and Circumstance movements by Elgar are cool.

I don't know about actual classical music, but I'd highly suggest the band Rhapsody.

Being the awesomestestest band on the planet does make me slightly biased, but they're kinda "classical...with vocals and guitars too". You'll love them. Promise.

Filmscore Metal is their "official" genre. *coughbutitspowermetalreally*

Does it just have to be old classical stuff? The other guys did a great job at all of the other stuff. If you're looking for some neo-classical stuff that isn't too atonal, here's some recommendations.

Overture to Candide by Bernstein

One Winged Angel from Final Fantasy

Metal Gear Solid 2 Theme

October by Eric Whitacre(Very Pretty song, gives me goosebumps everytime)
