If you could pick your footy club's all time team

Recommended Posts

I know there's a few teams different people support, it'd be interesting to see what team supporters could put out if they could pick an all-time team for that club....

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

MANAGER: Bill Nicholson

GOALIE: Erik Thorstvedt!!!

RIGHT BACK: Steve Perryman

CENTRE BACK: Dave Mackay

CENTRE BACK: Gary Mabbutt

LEFT BACK: Pat van den Hauwe (always liked him cos his birthday was the same as mine - 16/12)

RIGHT WING: Glenn Hoddle

CENTRE MID: Danny Blanchflower

CENTRE MID: Alan Mullery

LEFT WING: Ricky Villa

FORWARD: Jimmy Greaves

FORWARD: Gary Lineker

Rules: You must have seen footage of them in action if not in the skin. No going by names only.

I'll go with who I've seen play.

442, 'direct' ball.

GK: Glyn Garner (Best goalie I've seen at Orient. A loudmouth, great shot stopper, knows how to boss the back four about)

LB: Matt Lockwood (Best left back in Division Three on his day, almost left for a million to go to Spurs a few seasons ago)

RB: Matt Joseph (Small, pacey right back that used to love getting forward)

CB: Dean Smith © (Just aweome, comanding in the air and deady in and from set pieces)

CB:

CM: Wim Walchaerts (One of my favourite Orient players. Good defensive midfielder. And he signed my away shirt :D:D:D)

FW: Super Carl Griffiths (I don't like him that much but his record speaks for itself. Was the Orient talisman a few seasons ago)

FW: Amara Simba (I loved this guy, stylish ex-French international that could score good goals)

I just got the call. I've gotta go now, but I will edit in the rest of the squad later.

I watch all the AC Milan classics on Fox Soccer Channel, and saw more than my fair share of Milan games on one of the Public channels that simulcasts RAI (network that shows most of the Serie A games) so I believe my selections are valid. :P

AC Milan

Manager: Arrigo Sacchi

Formation: 5-3-2 (No real reason, just too many good defensive players to keep off)

GK: Sebastiano Rossi

DF: Franco Baresi

DF: Alessandro Costacurta

DF: Filippo Galli

DF: Mauro Tassotti

DF: Paolo Maldini

MD: Frank Rijkaard

MD: Ruud Gullit

MD: Zvonimir Boban

FW: Roberto Baggio

FW: Marco van Basten

Leicester City - all time

Goalkeeper: Peter Shilton

It was either gonna be him or Banks but Shilton just edges it for me from what I have seen. Banks would be on the bench.

Right Back: Pontus Kaamark

Broke his leg in his first match for us, came back to be a rock of our defense, either in the right back role or in the middle he was always great.

Left Back: David Nish

Legendary status, seen him briefly and looked amazing in the left back role.

Centre Back: Steve Walsh

Possibly the easist choice of them all, Walshy was an inspirational player and captain for us. He had a passion for the club and was with us through all the great days, hell of a player, helped he could play upfront sometime as well too.

Centre Back: Matt Elliott

Very similar to Walshy, had a passion for the club and done great things, a complete rock at the back.

Right Midfield: Keith Weller

Possibly the best player in our clubs history, the stuff I have seen of him showed him as being an amazing player.

Left Midfield: Lenny Glover

Great player also. Pity how he's turned out recently

Centre Midfield: Muzzy Izzet

Good ol' Muzzy. Nuff said.

Centre Midfield: Neil Lennon

He just gets it over a few other possible candidates, was a great player who spent his best years with us.

Striker: Gary Lineker

A Leicester boy through and through, he was great for us and went on to amazing success. Off the pitch he is loved also.

Striker: Frank Worthington

Nothing but a character and a half, this guy was great for not just being a good goal scorer but for being the character in the Leicester team of the 70's.

Leicester City - from what I've seen in more detail

a lot of the players up there I have only seen clips of, so this is more of a modern version. Most of the O'Neill era surprisingly >_>

Goalkeeper: Ian Walker

Right Back: Pontus Kaamark

Left Back: Ben Thatcher

Centre Back: Steve Walsh

Centre Back: Matt Elliott

Right Midfield: Robbie Savage

Left Midfield: Steve Guppy

Centre Midfield: Neil Lennon

Centre Midfield: Muzzy Izzet

Striker: Emile Heskey

Striker: Steve Claridge

Bench: Flowers, Whitlow, Zagorakis, Dickov & Cottee

Plymouth Argyle

Manager: Paul Sturrock

DL: Tony Capaldi

DC: Paul Wotton ©

DC: Graeme Coughlan

MR: David Norris

ML: Gary Nelson

MC: Ronnie Mauge

MC: David Friio

SC: Tommy Tynan

SC: Paul Mariner

I've only included people I've either physically watched play for Argyle (which is why Ronni Mauge made the team ¬_¬), or people who are so legendary that I didn't need to (like Mariner and Tynan). As such, the newer championship signings like Taribo West and Akos Buzsaky weren't considered.

Edit: Mudda, Bould over Campbell? And Pires over Schwartz? ¬_¬ Ok, so the last one is obvious, I was just a Schwartz mark back in 1997 because he had a cool name :P

That's just from the past ten years since I started supporting them, and most of this team is from the 99/00 play-off final team.
