Your CD Collection

Right, so most of us download music and only buy those albums that are particularly great, and some of us don't download at all. That's what this is for. I recently decided, lookin' back at all my tons of CDs and realizing most of them had gone to shit because I never cared for'em, that I wanted to start from scratch and rebuild my collection.

I immediately went out and bought...

Now i'm gonna go through old CDs and see what I want to keep around that's still in good condition. So, partly for ideas, partly intrigue, but post the CDs you've actually purchased.

I haven't bought a CD in a long time, mostly because of monetary issues, but I haven't downloaded any music in a long time either, as I don't have a sound card in this PC.

That said, I own well over 200 CDs, so I'm not going to post them all, unless someone can remember a website that was linked to from here a while back that basically lets you build up a database of every CD you own or something like that. Vague descriptions rock.

I got two for Christmas and before that I remember buying Polysics Or Die!!! summer '04. Also that year I remember buying Autechre's new album and a Kid 606 album.

Worryingly I can't remember buying an album in 2005......Except...Razorlight! I bought Razorlight and The Killers in January!

First off, the four cd's you picked are a good way to start any collection.

For the most part I love my whole CD collection, minus a lot of the older grunge/metal from the 90s that I don't listen to anymore (shit like RATM, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, or Nirvana).

As it stands, it'd be tough for me to list every CD I've purchased because I have so damn many of them. I can share the albums that really stood out for me, and I felt were necesary for purchase. I may also add a few of my LP's since a few are not available on CD.

Geza-X - You Goddamn Kids! (This is one I have on vinyl, although it is available on CD)

No Alternative - Johnny Got His Gun 1978-1982 (Just great San Francisco punk from one of the greatest era's and regions involved in the punk movement)

Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime (One of the greatest albums of all-time)

Nomeansno - Mama, Wrong, Why do they call me Mr. Happy?, Sex Mad/You Kill Me, One (Everything that these guys have released has been absolutely amazing. No wonder they're always at the top of my lists)

The Mentors - You Axed For It (Great metal, and sexual lyrics make for a great album. This is another LP, as I've been hard pressed to find this on CD at a reasonable price)

Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers - L.A.M.F. (Quite possibly my favorite album of all-time. Johnny Thunders is a musical hero of mine, and this album will illustrate the reasons)

The Weirdos - Weird World Vol. 1 (See No Alternative)

Eh, I wouldn't say your sad. I databased the rest of my cd's and lp's today on that recordnerd site, for reference, and as a back up of sorts. Ya know, just in case my LP's/CD's are destroyed/stolen I can look back to that as a starting point to replace them. It's also nice to have them for people you know online that you might wish to trade CD's with.
