Try Rilo Kiley too.

And Save Ferris, if I'm thinking of the right band. Did an enjoyable cover of Come On Eileen. Probably got the wrong band though.

Some Martha Wainwright and CocoRosie if you're into Solo artists too.

Coheed and Cambria sound like they have a female lead singer.

I always thought that as well. My girlfriend had a Coheed song as her ring tone, and I asked her who the band was. When she told me Coheed and Cambria, I commented that I didn't realize they had a female lead singer. Needless to say it took her awhile to convince me that Coheed's singer was not actually a she but a he.

I also remembered another great female fronted punk/garage band, Thee Headcoatees. It's basically a female spin off of Billy Childish's Thee Headcoats. They are quite good and definitely have a similar sound to that of the Headcoats.

I first want to say thats its awesome that no one mentioned No Doubt.

My favourite female fronted bands are:

Nightwish (Finland)

Lacuna Coil (Italy)

Within Temptation (Netherlands)

Otep (America)

And I'm not sure anyone really cares but I went to the same high school as Metric.
