Gigs/Bands.

What bands have you seen? Obviously I don't mean little local bands we'd have no desire to really see, like.. proper big bands. Some people are obviously unlucky and haven't seen many whereas I know a lot of us here are avid gig/festival/whatever goers.

I'll work on mine in a bit, as it's a bit long.

In just gigs (with the support if I remember it):

Amen/Little Hell

Disturbed

Deftones/A Perfect Circle/Revolution Smile

Machine Head/Sikth/Breed 77

Drowning Pool/Die So Fluid

Ill Nino/Breed 77/Violent Delight

Apocalyptica/Breed 77/Amplifier

Trivium/3 Inches Of Blood/Still Remains

Lamb Of God/Throwdown/As I Lay Dying

I've seen some small time bands as well, but no-one of note. I'm also not too big a Breed 77 fan believe it or not, just happened to have seen them 3 times, with only the Ill Nino gig being to see them (the first one being to see Machine Head, the third one to see Amplifier, and cos the ticket was free)

At festivals (a rough list, as I can't remember for sure):

Goldie Lookin Chain

Metallica

System of A Down

White Stripes

The Darkness

The Used

The Bronx

The Offspring

The Futureheads

Icarus Line

Ash

Placebo

Lostprophets

Morrissey

The 5,6,7,8's

Minus

The Streets

The Libertines

The Roots

Franz Ferdinand

The Hives

Hundred Reasons

Primal Scream

Good Charlotte

Sum 41

Biffy Clyro

Sugarcult

The All American-Rejects

And that is about it.

Best band live was Machine Head, closely followed by A Perfect Circle and Metallica.

Worst band live was.....hmmm....probably The LIbertines at Reading 2004. Just not as good as I hoped they could have been, and it was when they didn't have Pete, so the songs just didn't have any oomph, I guess. Other than that, most bands I've seen live have been good, or at least competent.

Top few in order of "Woah!-ness"

1) Polysics - Birmingham '04

First time I saw them, just 20 people crammed into Bar Academy. Proper great it was too! Frantic electro-poppy punk tracks - frenzied!

2) Chemical Brothers - Birmingham '03

First stop on their World Tour. Dancing with hundreds of people to Block Rockin Beats, Hey Boy Hey Girl and Under The Influence just did EVERYTHING for me. Unbelieveable.

3) Muse - London Astoria '99

Did two trips down to London in a week with my housemate. He came with me to see Feeder (supported by My Vitriol who were amazing) and then I went to see Ash with him...Who were supported by MUSE! Blew me away. Went out and bought their album the next day and been hooked since. Interestingly you can see the back of my head on the original video for Muscle Museum which was clips of loads of live performances...

4) Ladytron - Birmingham '03

Strangely one of my first gigs with my now-wife. Great atmosphere and classy intelligent dance music to enjoy. Completely different vibe to all the others but still oved it.

5) Polysics - Birmingham '05

Second time we went to see 'em, this time at Barfly with a few more people. New song, great interaction with the crowd and a definite highlight when electro and guitars enjoyed a happy marriage with a recorder! They're supporting Kaiser Cheifs in April so they'll get big and too expensive to see.

I've been to a few shows, actually...all within the last couple of years:

Metallica (I later found out that while I was having a grand time seeing my favourite band, my friend who was there with me was almost passing out due to a high fever)

Iron Maiden

System of a Down

The Killers

Disturbed

Nine Inch Nails

Green Day

A Perfect Circle

Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Out of those, the most amazing had to be Metallica (show and awesomeness-wise), Disturbed (quality-wise), Green Day (over-all awesome show from start-to-finish).

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a tough one to call, because the show was absolutely fantastic, but it's really more of a stage production than a concert, so it wouldn't be fair to rank it against straight-up bands.

As for festivals, I've only been to one, but I feel it's the only one that matters (to me, anyways):

Summer Sanitarium

Right now, other than Iron Maiden, Metallica, or Greenday again, the concerts that I'd like to see are Our Lady Peace, Tool, Mathew Good, and Rob Zombie.

Do you mean live, Keith, or in general?

I've not seen them live, but they were good on CD. Some people said they were a bit like a UK-RATM, with the metal-rap-y combo and political lyrics, but yeah, they are well worth checking out.

Just in general. I've heard the Uk RATM claims as well, although that's a big claim, so I didn't put too much faith into it. I might check them out someday.

Check out the "Buy Now...Saved Later" album, as thats the one I've got. I also would recommend the songs "Holy Man" and "Revolution" if you want a taster.
