Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Jens Lehmann (Germany), Ricardo (Portugal)

Defenders: Roberto Ayala (Argentina), John Terry (England), Lilian Thuram (France), Philipp Lahm (Germany), Fabio Cannavaro (Italy), Gianluca Zambrotta (Italy), Ricardo Carvalho (Portugal)

Midfielders: Ze Roberto (Brazil), Patrick Vieira (France), Zinedine Zidane (France), Michael Ballack (Germany), Andrea Pirlo (Italy), Gennaro Gattuso (Italy), Luis Figo (Portugal), Maniche (Portugal)

Strikers: Hernan Crespo (Argentina), Thierry Henry (France), Miroslav Klose (Germany), Francesco Totti (Italy), Luca Toni (Italy)

World Cup team. John Terry only player to make it from England, though it does make TheArsenal's suggestion that he was at times one of our worst players in years laughable, which I thank it for.

And yet in todays paper it says about Terry getting into that squad, and how many people are left wondering how he managed to get in ahead of Ferdinand. And I don't care, because I know Terry made some big mistakes in letting people in. Including that time when Ashley Cole had to sprint back and slide in to deflect the ball onto the bar.

And I'm glad to see you quoted me as saying AT TIMES he is the worst. Because there are times where he plays well, but times like the one I mentioned above are often crucial. And to defend myself, we don't often have players who play especially badly. It's often a team that under-achieves, or Sven being a crap manager in recent years. So to say one player is playing worse than any in the last few years isnt saying they are that terrible all the time, just that they are clearly under-achieving. And no matter that squad says, I believe that Terry really did under achieve considering he was playing for England. And he wasn't the only one.

Terry made one big mistake, covered by Ashley Cole...and then covered for the mistake of the rest of the defence in clearing the ball off the line against Trinidad And Tobago. Other than that, the only other mistakes were against Sweden for their second goal, which wasn't only Terry but the whole defense.

The only defender who was better than Terry in the England side was Ashley Cole, Ferdinand was solid but just kinda there, whilst Terry had matches like the one he did against Portugal where he got a poor yellow given to him, yet still crunched in with the tackles and was formidably good. He also, aside from the mistake against Ecuador, played good in that match and in the T&T and Paraguay matches, so you basically called him on one mistake.

And I know you said only some of the time which is why I quoted you on it, but I still see your singling out of Terry as little more than anti-Chelsea bias which you have done in the past, when he was one of the better players we had, whether he under-performed or not.

Wayne Rooney has been suspended for two matches and fined £2,400 by Fifa following his red card against Portugal in the World Cup quarter-final.

World football's governing body found the 20-year-old striker guilty of violent conduct as a result of his stamp on defender Ricardo Carvalho.

The Manchester United star will miss England's Euro 2008 qualifying matches against Andorra and away to Macedonia.

He will be available again for the home game against Macedonia on 7 October.

Rooney insisted there was no malice intended in the second-half incident which happened after he fought off several players to try and win the ball.

He says Carvalho slipped into the area where he was about to place his foot.

Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to encourage the referee to send off his Manchester United team-mate, although he denied this and will not be investigated by Fifa.

Eriksson revealed he had spoken to referee Horacio Elizondo after the game against Portugal, which was decided by a penalty shoot-out, and had "no complaints" about the decision to send off Rooney.

"I spoke to Wayne after the game and he had no intention to do it," said Eriksson.

"I also went to the referee to speak and he was 100% sure it was a red card. He told me he hit the other player and where he was hit so I can't complain about that."

He says Carvalho slipped into the area where he was about to place his foot.

That's just funny... But it sucks that Figo headbutts someone when the referee isn't looking, and the referee is judged to have 'made the correct decision' despite clearly not looking. Yet Rooney gets a 2 game suspension for a fucking accident that couldn't really be prevented.

Guest Bosstown Boy

Well, I ran a few simulations using FIFA.

Sim #1:

ITALY GOAL - Totti - 32'

FRANCE GOAL - Henry - 53'

FRANCE GOAL - Zindane - 82'

FRANCE 2 - 1 ITALY

Sim #2:

FRANCE GOAL - Zindane - 21'

ITALY GOAL - Toni - 73'

ITALY GOAL - Totti - 90'+

FRANCE 1 - 2 ITALY

Sim #3

FRANCE GOAL - Henry - 33'

FRANCE 1 - 0 ITALY

I think something Sim #2 would be most exciting.

Even if the refereeing has been better than 2002 (not hard), it's still been poor. I actually feel sorry for the referees - at the beginning of the tournament they're told to 'protect skillful players', so basically card anyone for a tackle that touches the opponenet.

Then Blatter moans when there are too many cards, so the referees are reluctant to show any (the Portugal/France game springs to mind).

I'm just waiting for them to announce Rooney's been given an 8 month ban.

I really can't be bothered with Ballack to be honest. It's pathetic when before every World Cup match he's been cleared of a different injury.

The amount of times you read "Ballack cleared from foot injury", "Ballack cleared from back injury", "Ballack out due to leg injury". It's sad. He just seems like the sort of player who whines everytime he grazes his knee.

This ref has been great. Portuguese player dives, the German player gets immediately fouled, referee gives freekick to Germany.

And I hope Germany win, they deserve SOMETHING for their great tournament.

Someone please kill Ronaldo. He should never return to Britain, or he will be killed.

Cole deserves that Goal Of The Tournament award. It looks more impressive everytime you see it. Like a Ron Jeremy porno.

I'm ruling out Maxi Rodriguez, just because he's a cunt.

I said Maxi's goal was awesome, but it's a shame he's a dick, too.

I do like Cambiasso's goal though, even though it was a team goal rather than "Cambiasso's Goal" if you get what I mean.

I love Frings' for the sheer fact he was just the perfect distance out, if he was any further out it would have gone wide because of the immense curl on it.

Oh and Martin O'Neill should be knighted after this tournament.

And lastly, I have Schweisteiger and Valente in my dream team in this match, and Gallas in the final. Even though something like a penalty victory for Germany/Portugal and a MotM performance for Schweinsteiger would be beneficial. I'll just say I hope Schweisteiger scores 3 :)

EDIT: Portugal better not score here, because Maniche just fell flat on his face.

lol, Pauleta.

Oh and Frings has the most awesome chesting motion ever, he's like "I'm gonna catch it...HA! Psyche!"
