Who honestly gives a fuck if Hasslehoff is in it? Can't we just put this little shit campy fad behind us and let everyone realise how idiotic they were for pretending to like him in their oh-so witty postmodern way, and thinking they were so fucking unique to do it, and just go back to him being a relic of a time when 90% of entertainment was a right bag of cock?

In 2006, after years of speculation, original Creator Glen A. Larson announced that The Weinstein Company has bought the rights to Knight Rider, and Knight Rider: The Movie is currently underway. The film is set to star David Hasselhoff, and Universal plans for a release in 2008 (according to the IMDb). However, both Larson and Hasselhoff have made similar announcements before, and have yet to carry the project through.

Ugh...if they want to do a remake, which this will surely be, why put Hoff in there? The guy can't fucking act, and he's too old. It would be far better with a younger lead.

No moreso than usual, it just doesn't make any sense. If they want it to look stylish and up-to-date, why cast a washed up old has-been like Hasslehoff in the lead role, which is only going to make it look camp and pathetic, especially seeing as his "career resurgence" fad will have been long dead by the time the film's actually released? It'd be like casting Adam West in Batman Begins, except that West can actually act.

In reality the Wiki article is wrong. Larson does not wish to use Hasselhoff at all. It has been him trying to get his name attatched to the film that has spurred such rumors. He even went so far as to try to get Orlando Bloom signed on with him to play his son and carry on the tradition. In fact, the current plan is to do it as a remake or a re-imagining from the beginning. Thus a new actor would play Michael Knight in an updated version. Larson hated the Knight Rider 2000 TV Movie from a decade plus ago, and that was all Hasselhoff. This story is disected more in depth at Aint It Cool News, but that is the jist of it there.
